2020 Chevrolet Traverse: We Answer Your Questions
New Post has been published on https://coolcarsnews.com/2021/01/02/2020-chevrolet-traverse-we-answer-your-questions/
2020 Chevrolet Traverse: We Answer Your Questions
As you know, we have been spending the last week driving the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse RS. While we’ll have to wait until 2022 to get the refreshed Traverse , we figured it was a good idea to take those current edition out for a rewrite.
We already distributed to you in the past how its turbo charge 2 . 0l LTG I4 motor – which produced  257 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque – was replaced by the naturally-aspirated 3. 6-liter LFY V6 rated with 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. That engine is combined to the GENERAL MOTORS nine-speed automatic transmission , generating either the front or all four tires.
It’s now time for us in order to answer the questions you delivered us about the 2020 Chevrolet Navigate. We sorted out what we think to be the most relevant ones. Here will go.
Queen: Can the start/stop system be disabled on the Navigate?
The: Not yet. Whilst driving the Traverse, we were dissatisfied to not find a similar start/stop eliminate switch as in the 2020 Cadillac XT5 we recently drove. That will feature will be added as part of the mid-cycle refresh, whose release date offers unfortunately already been pushed back to 2022 due to delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Queen: How does it evaluate to the Tahoe? Both are comparable size, but quite a large cost difference. How is the ride plus handling?
A: This is actually a great question since both of these models assist a similar purpose: carry families towards the shopping mall, to soccer practice or even up to the cottage over the weekend. While comparable in size, they’re obviously aimed at 2 different types of customers.
The particular Tahoe is a rear-wheel or 4wd, body-on-frame SUV which uses exactly the same GM K2XX architecture as the previous-generation Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, while the Traverse is really a front-wheel or all-wheel-drive, unibody all terain built on the GM C1 platform . The particular Tahoe can tow up to eight, 600 pounds with the optional trailering package, while the Traverse’s tow capability is limited to 5, 000 lbs.
As for ride and managing, the Traverse is much more carlike compared to its big brother, allowing it to be better suited to urban daily driving. That said, whilst we still didn’t drive the particular redesigned Tahoe, we did trip in the passenger seat of the 2021 Chevrolet Provincial . We were genuinely impressed by just how compliant the all-new independent back suspension was and how rock solid the particular GM T1 architecture felt. Nevertheless, the Traverse still has a lot more carlike driving feel.
Q: Is the 310-horsepower V6 adequate? Or even would a 400-horsepower, twin-turbo several. 0L V6 from Cadillac are more effective in this? How about the 5. 3-liter L83 OF V8 engine that makes 355 horsepower from the Chevy Silverado?
A: While we’ll never disagree along with someone’s desire to get more power from their midsize crossover, the truth from the matter is that the Traverse doesn’t require more than what it has. Chevrolet currently made the wise decision of eliminating the turbocharged four from the selection as it didn’t deliver any significant improvements in performance or energy economy while being less even than the 3. 6L V6.
If you take a look at the Traverse’s key rivals – the Ford Pilot, Toyota Highlander, Nissan Pathfinder, Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride – they’re all powered simply by tried and proven naturally equiped V6 engines of similar specs. In fact , only the Dodge Durango provides an optional V8 engine in this course.
Q: I would like to know your viewpoint on the transmission. I have a 2019 design, and shifting is very smooth along with normal driving. However when you ground it for passing, downshifts appear to hesitate and feels lazy.
A: This is an interesting question once we not only observed the same shifting problems as you did, but found the particular nine-speed automatic gearbox to operate in a different way than in other vehicles. In the XT5, we had no complaints, but in the particular Traverse, we did notice the calibration to be a bit rough throughout the edges. Downshifts did in fact have got longer delays than in other programs. Here’s to hoping these calibration issues will be addressed when the Navigate receives its mid-cycle refresh.
Q: I am curious to know if they are likely to update the 2018 model along with wireless Apple CarPlay. It presently does some things wirelessly, yet it’s not the same as connecting to the Navigate. Any insight into this?
A: Retrofitting older versions of the Traverse’s infotainment interface with wireless Google android Auto/Apple CarPlay is unfortunately more difficult than it seems. It’s just not something which can be modified vian over-the-air software update or at the car dealership. The feature will be added to the particular 2022 model.
Q: Can you pony up for an Enclave for the similar money?
A: Before all of us answer this one, it’s important to underline that the entry level price of the Navigate is considerably lower than the Enclave’s. The base MSRP for a front-wheel-drive Navigate is $30, 995 versus $41, 195 for an Enclave Preferred. That is before applicable rebates, of course. Nevertheless , once you start climbing up the cut levels, the price gap closes, with all the Enclave topping off at $57, 295 versus $55, 390 for the Traverse High Country. That’s many before adding options and deals.
At this point, it’s really a query of personal taste and the amount of high-class you’re looking for in your GM middle size crossover. While technically identical to some Traverse, the Enclave is more trendy inside, especially in Avenir trim because of its fancier cabin materials, improved sound deadening and significantly more comfortable chairs.
Also consider which the Enclave is a tad smaller within than the Traverse, with maximum consignments capacity slightly dropping to ninety-seven. 6 cubic feet versus 98. second . That said, this difference shouldn’t have an effect on your hauling needs too much.
