2023 Temperature Blanket 🌈 Final Product 🌈
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shes finished!! She makes my bed look like it's a twin, it's not. Its a queen. But she's done!! And it's only January 1, 2024!!!
Honestly not to get too poetic or emotional, but this project is such a testimony to survival for me. With as much as I struggled this year with my mental health, it's kind of nice to have this tactile reminder that I made it. Look: all of those hard days are here. They're strung together with all of the good days to make something absolutely beautiful. And besides that? I can't even pick out which ones were the bad days. In the grand scheme of things,, they all come together. And I made it. I made this beautiful thing, I made it through this year. And so did you ❤
With that: Happy New Year! Happy 2024! Take it in your stride, and know that you can do this.

I finished my 2023 temperature blanket! More than 35 skeins of yarn went into this and it is both BIG and HEAVY, with final dimensions of about 80"x120", making it almost twice as long as I am tall lol.
I like using it as a lap blanket.

2023 Temperature Blanket
What a month it's been - I honestly almost didn't have an update to provide, or at least a complete update.
I fell behind pretty much immediately this month and spent an entire day crocheting 24 rows to catch up - then, on the 2nd of May (today) I had to do another 4 rows to catch up after being away over the weekend. Let's just say it's been a busy time of year for me.
I'll be honest - this blanket is taking it out of me, and we aren't even halfway through. I can confidently say that this will be my first and last temperature blanket. Or at least my last one doing straight rows every day.
I'm still crocheting daily, but I'm more interested in using my time to make smaller projects (or at least ones that don't take a whole year). I've been wanting to spend my time on clothes and making things that I'm getting use out of. And although I'm sure I'll use this blanket once it's done, it's just not the same.
I'll try to post more of my clothes and things I've made (I've been making so much, including heaps of recreations without existing patterns) and I'm excited to share them! I just need to do some fun photoshoots to really show them off.
Anyway, without further ado, here's my temperature blanket, with April finished!

Happy pride 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ June 2023 complete and officially half way there!! This bad boy is coming up to 152cm in length already and is SO HEAVY and honestly I cannot wait to gave it eventually completed
I started this blanket at the very end of July 2023, so I'm roughly 10 months into it, and honestly? The fact I've this much done, while I was also in full time education, when every row takes a MINIMUM of an hour, is a point of pride for me!
Top temp June: 26°C
Top temp overall: 26°C, June 5th
Lowest temp June: 8°C
Lowest temp overall: -3°C, Jan 17th

Well, I finally decided what to do with my 2023 temperature blanket. So along the way, I managed to miss a few days, miscount a few rows, and skip a few stitches. Plus the edging was just, no bueno. So after seeing granny squares in the moss stitch, count me in! So each month will be a square, squares will be boardered and stitched together once all squares have been finished.
I stopped mid April, so between stopping in April and starting over, I’m a little behind 🥲 BUT January is complete! Moving onto February after I finish the project I started tonight. 🧶

Temperature Blanket 2023

Everything below the white line is January everything above is February. I’m hoping to use all of the colors at some point during the year. Each color represents 10 degrees except for white which is just to separate the months.

2023 Temperature Blanket: 🎆July🎆

Finally. I got really far behind. I haven't even touched August yet so I'm gonna be busy.
High temp: it bumped 102° for a hot second.
Low temp: 58° when I went up to the mountains. It hit 89 later that day, but I needed the variation.
Highlight of the month: solo fishing trip!

well, i didn't finish it for the year, and i know i won't, so i tied it off now and will enjoy it's coziness as is : D i think i got to about august before i decided i was done. yarn was costing too much for the amount i did *not* want to be doing anymore LOL, and some of the upcoming colors i ran out of and they straight up do not exist anymore.
this thing has been sitting folded on a shelf for months, glad i can really enjoy it now that i took the leap to decide it was done!!
(most of) 2023 temperature blanket, completed! : )

Decided it was time to put in some work on my temperature bookshelf
Tumblr media
The stitches needed to keep with with recording temps aren't bad, but there's quite a bit to get the shelf built up in the first place and I didn't want to get too far behind.

I've finally settled on a pattern for this year's temperature blanket!
I'll be using a modified version of the Mulberry Afghan by Toni from TL Yarncraft:
Tumblr media
I'll make 12 columns, each with 90 rows, that I'll then join together into one big blanket.
Im very excited to get started! Ive never done such a big tunisian crochet project before
