First, I want to thank you for all your incredible work over the years making beautiful and exquisitely colored gifsets. I've been a huge fan of your stuff and it's inspired me to make my own gifs here and there... which leads me to my main question. How do you make multiple gifs out of a single scene for a post, like these? (https://www.tumblr.com/reblog/arsuf/718040586056269824) Do you create each gif separately, using guides and rulers to make sure they line up properly when you post them in the gifset, or is it something else? Hi there! It's actually pretty simple, I drag the video I wanna use into PS, at first I make the size full, so in that gif's case it was 500px wide, do the coloring, sharpening, etc. After I export it, I open it again in PS, prepare it for export again (usually have to adjust the frame delay and remove the very first frame as it's always janky). Then I make a copy of the file, basically duplicate it like this:

After that, I use the cropping tool to make the smaller 245px wide versions like this:

So basically do one side on the original, and the other on the copy. Then just export both and that's it! Hope this makes sense! Have fun giffing! <3

I miss the time when tumblr gif size limit was smaller and the gifs were smaller in sizes (245px or 500px, 10 gifs/pics max). Now all the posts are so large because the gifs are so big: multiple 540px gifs. Don't get me wrong: the edits & gifs are gorgeous but I just miss the time when the posts were smaller. I just miss old tumblr & I'm stuck in the past.

I'm really not into the badges offered. I'd rather bring back blinkies (others have probably been trying to). At the moment I don't have a pinned info post but for those that do I think it would be fun to have a bunch of cute little banners showing off their interests.

I just made this one. It's larger than usual blinkies but I was going by tumblr's 245px sizing. Mine is really plain and simple but you get the gist.

Tipo de imágenes utilizadas en el diseño y las que podrías usar en las publicaciones de tu blog en función del CMS seleccionado (formatos, tipo de compresión, resolución, tamaño del archivo, …)

Siguiendo las best practices de Tumblr, el tamaño adecuado para las imágenes del post debe de ser mínimo 500x750px y máximo de 2048x3072 que es lo soportado por el CMS, pero recomiendan un 1280x1920 con un aspecto ratio de 2:3, en mi caso he añadido las imágenes con estos últimos parámetros recomendados y a formato JPG versión web (Opción Guardar para Web de PSD).

¿Formato JPG o PNG?, es nuestro caso, al ser una imagen destinada para WEB y probablemente de una resolución alta se reduzca a una inferior comprimiéndola, podemos utilizar cualquiera de los dos formatos, sí es cierto que JPG está más alineado para proyectos más grandes y PNG para gráficos que suelen extenderse hasta una calidad alta o infinita, ya que no pierde calidad, como por ejemplo imágenes background, en nuestro caso vamos a utilizar JPG para publicaciones ya que el peso es algo menor y tenemos un abanico más amplio de parámetros con los que jugar, por ejemplo calidad y color.

Con save for web de PSD, te permite una mejor compresión de la imagen para contenido WEB que es nuestro entorno donde vamos a trabajar, lo que hace principalmente es reducir la calidad y quitar metadatos innecesarios, pero en WEB se aprecia perfectamente y aumentamos la velocidad de carga de la web, no la sobrecargamos tanto con imágenes muy pesadas.

Los formatos que Tumblr permite son JPG, PNG, GIF y BMP con un máximo de peso de 20MB.

En versión mobile, la foto publicada aparecerá a 500px, si añades un set de imágenes, por ejemplo 2, se reducirán y aparecerá una a 245px y la otra a 245px, si añades 3, se reducen a 160px de ancho.

En mi caso la imagen que hemos utilizado en la publicación muestra estos mismos parámetros:

¿Por qué son tan oportunas estas tipologías comparadas con otros formatos destinados a otros usos (impresión, diseño gráfico, presentaciones…)?

Entiendo que por qué no se usan para el mismo fin o ámbito, para impresión se busca la mayor calidad posible ya que es muy importante, se ve mucho más profesional, aquí entramos en los PPI o DPI. GIF para animaciones, lo que únicamente soporta 256 colores, pero tiene un sistema de compresión que evita pérdidas de calidad en la imagen. El RAW por ejemplo para fotografía, es un formato crudo que contiene la totalidad de los datos de la imagen a procesar como quieras desde cualquier software, utilizado mucho en retoque digital. SVG para diseño gráfico, permite retocar gráficos tanto estáticos como animados y es vectorial, capaz de ser interpretado por navegadores y se utiliza mucho en páginas web, sobre todo para logotipos e infografías.
