30 days of spoonie witchery
We're early, oh wells...
Day 3 – an extra spoons day Share something witchy that you like to do when you have a few extra spoons.
This one's easy cause it's always at the forefront of my mind. I like to do this once a week but once a month is more realistic.
I go around my house and do a cleansing ritual. It takes such setup, I've been trying to simplify it, but grounding and circling first really makes a difference. I'll light a candle, do a bit of sage, open up all the windows, and then set out some incense and offerings.
I find it decreases our fights and asthma attacks and bug issues.

30 Days of Spoonie Witchery Day 2: Cold hands, warm drinks
It’s a picture-heavy one, so I’ll cut this to save the feed of anyone who happens to be reading. Everyone needs to see my favorite mug though, so I’ll post that before the cut. My husband got it in a White Elephant gift exchange at work and I don’t know how no one stole it because it’s amazing. It’s huge (holds 20 oz wowsers) but the base still fits in my Mr. Coffee mug warmer, it has a blue cat on it, and says meow meow meow around the rim. I always said that if I was an inanimate object I would be a book, but I think I would actually be this mug.
Tumblr media
I love tea, though I’m not into iced tea, so I almost always drink it hot. In the mornings I usually have flavored black tea. My current favorites are TeaSource Hazelnut Orange (left) (though they changed their formula to be nut-allergy friendly so I don’t know if I’m going to buy more after I finish this batch) and Pistachio Shortbread (right).
Tumblr media
For my IBS I tend to drink a lot of ginger tea. I really like Bigelow Lemon Ginger Probiotic, and while I don’t know whether the probiotics actually do anything, it’s a really nice herbal tea for the evening. When I’m actually feeling nauseous, I’ll drink Traditional Medicinals Ginger Aid with honey (my boyfriend accidentally bought cinnamon honey which goes perfect with this).
Tumblr media
I have some miscellaneous things that I like to mix with loose tea (or have on their own). I had one wonderful summer with my Mojito Mint plant (seriously, if you ever find one, buy it IMMEDIATELY), but I cut it back too soon the next spring and it didn’t come back. I still have some leaves I dried from it that I’ll mix with TeaSource Organic Cocoa (cacao pod husks that steep so much better than cacao nibs), sometimes adding to black tea, sometimes just having those two. I have plenty of spearmint that I’ve mixed with ginger for another tummy tonic. Penzey’s is the best place to get spices, and I’ve made my own chai spice mix (front, unlabeled). If you do any sort of kitchen witchery or use spices, get them from Penzey’s.
Tumblr media
We have several more kinds of tea (and coffee, french press), but these are my staples. When I’m sick I drink another tea from Traditional Medicinals, but it has an incredibly unfortunate name so I still haven’t decided if I’m going to continue with it once I finish the box I have. I don’t know which of the next prompts I’m actually going to do, especially because I’m a baby witch and don’t really do much yet.

30 Days of Spoonie Witchery- Day 9
Headaches
"Create or share a spell or witchy tip for dealing with headaches."
I'll be honest, I get headaches and migraines constantly, but I don't handle them very well...
My go-to resolution is an Excedrin, a bottle of cola (for the caffeine), and a nap.
BUT it really depends on what kind of headache I have. For example, right now I'm battling a sinus headache. I can feel it in my eyes and my teeth. This is probably #2 painful headache for me (migraines being #1).
I’m going to start off by saying in no way am I a doctor, this is not professional medical advice.  If you struggle with chronic headaches and migraines, I strongly suggest you visit your physician or a specialist because there could be an underlying cause that needs to be addressed.  Additionally, these are all things that I’ve found help me, but may not be best for your situation.
For sinus headaches, I try to drink lots of tea and water. It's important to stay hydrated, especially for this kind of headache. I also take long, hot showers and breathe in the steam. Sometimes I'll put a washcloth loosely over my face and inhale the steam that gets trapped underneath.
I don't have a humidifier, but I have been thinking about getting one. I think it could really help me. There are also humidifiers that diffuse essential oils into the air.  I haven’t tried it, but hear peppermint and eucalyptus oils are good for headaches.  I imagine that lavender could also be helpful to relax, especially if it is a stress headache.  Of course, each of these scents can also be overwhelming to some people, so pay attention if your headache gets worse.
ALWAYS be cautious using essential oils around your pets, as some oils are TOXIC to animals and can be FATAL. (tea tree oil especially is a bad one, but there are others)
Other headaches I get are from stress, lack of sleep, and dehydration. It's always a struggle to figure out why I have a headache, because each of these need to be treated differently.
Naps are good for sleep headaches and can help stress headaches. I can usually tell it's a stress headache because they are often focused in the back of my head/neck.  People often carry their stress in their shoulders, so if your headache is at the back of your skull, it is most likely stress.  Give your eyes a break from screens and reading. Turn down the lights, soft music if you can handle it, and do some meditation or breathing exercises.
The best thing to do with any headache, is drink a glass of water first.  It’ll help you if you are dehydrated, and it doesn’t hurt you if you're not. I recently downloaded an app called "Plant Nanny". It is an app that helps you stay hydrated by sending you reminders.  Each time you drink, you water a virtual plant which eventually begins to grow.  If you forget to water your plant, (I forgot to check in over an entire weekend once) it gets sick and dried out, but you can fix it by watering it again!

30 Days of Spoonie Witchery: Day 12
Day 15 – gods and goddesses; Do you work with any deities in your craft? How do you honour them on low-spoons days? Do you have any tips for low-spoon ways to work with deities or spirits?
• I will list the God's I work with below. I typically light a candle, bake for them, and even do Tarot Spread's when I have the spoons. As well as offer alcohol and goodies.
My advice on low spoon days, honor your Deity or God's by taking care of yourself. Self care out of the ass, invite them to join you, if your comfortable with it.
Also, you do what you have the energy to do, don't force anything. Your God's don't want you to hurt or make yourself worse by worshipping them.
Even incorporate what they are about into it, or what's important to them as God's. Let's say Freya, she is all about self care. Run yourself a bubble bath and soothe your aching muscles. Have a glass of wine even, and invite her or whoever you work with to join.
∆ I work primarily with three God's from the Norse Pantheon;
1st: Thor; God of lighting and protecter of Humans.
Tumblr media
2nd: Loki; Trickster and God of Mischief and Chaos.
Tumblr media
3rd: Odin; God of Wisdom, War, Death, Magic and Poetry.

Day 8 of 30DaysOfSpoonieWitchery – duvet day Share some tips on how to be witchy when you are bed-bound or having a day in bed
Get a small deck of tarot cards to do easy spreads in bed.
Diffuse essential oils near your bed (but only if you don’t have cats! EOs are BAD for cats.)
Try to position your bed near a window to get fresh air.
Keep your journal & reading materials close to your bed for easy access; read or journal when you have the energy.

Day 1✴Hello and welcome💚🔮💚
Some of my daily ailments…
✴Physical✴
Chronic widespread pain (everywhere). Big painful lumps under the skin on my arms(some really large). Severely pinched/damaged nerves throughout my back/neck. Grinding in back and neck with any movement (not sure of exact reason) Scoliosis (sometimes very painful). Nearly constant pain in my arms/hands/fingers. Messed up neck that regularly cause migraine headaches. Severe carpal tunnel bilateral (both wrists), non operable, painful/aching, sharp pain, numbness in fingers. Tendonitis (both arms). IBS. Chronic stress.
✴Mental✴
Bipolar with crazy mood swings lol. Major depressive disorder. Intrusive thoughts, obsessive behaviors. Anxiety disorder. Attention deficit disorder.
Hey fellow spoonie witches,
Online I like to be called Mortuarylover.. This stems from my obsession with everything death related for example…death positive movement, funerary/embalming items and practices, after death processes and care, final wishes, obituaries, hair work/remembrance items, graveyards and cemeteries etc, etc).
For years I’ve tried to find witchy things that clicked with me. Was under the impression that having mental illnesses would make it impossible to have a good enough flow of energies.  I’ve recently had an epiphany and thanks to sites such as spoonie witches and others, have realized that I can and should be the witch I always known I am. I’ve also found a ton of practices and info that completely jive with my beliefs.
Thanks for reading, sorry it’s so long. I just feel so passionate and fortunate to have witches like you all, so thank you!

30 days of spoonie witchery
Day 2 – warm drinks and cold hands What is your favourite warm drink that makes you feel better? Create or share a tea recipe. Create or share a way to imbue magic into a warm drink.
Ooo, my fav, warm drinks! I'm a tea freak but let's lay them all out. The spoonie drinks that heal me:
The Ponyo- Super comforting. Warm milk, honey and cinnamon. Love in a mug.
Pink Lemonade- Powder mix I found has magnesium sulfate in it, which is an electrolyte I needed. Super hydrating, but over ice is best.
Damiana and Lavender- High pain days, I need my these two. Damiana is good for pain and relaxation, insomnia and lavender relaxes muscles. Half tsp lavender, little more than half a tsp of damiana, in boiling water for 10-20min. (Please research if you'll imitate, damiana is pretty strong and gets me high if I mix it with other nerve tonics.)
Tea- Caffeine can be a migraine treatment but can also be a trigger. The key is to have the same amount every day, a little bit more on bad days if it doesn't make you antsy. My black tea is a morning ritual and medicine.
Best recommendations: Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice, American Breakfast from Mariage Frere, Barry's Gold black tea, in the red box.
Quick Spell- 5 tiny scoops of sugar equal 1 scoop for each element on the pentagram, each element I ask to embue me with some characteristic they could help with, depending on what I need that day. Stir clockwise to bring in energy.

30 Days of Spoonie Witchcraft Day 1: Hello and Welcome
Hello, witchblr. I am CthonicAthenaeum because I live in an underground library (my apartment is the base level and we have more bookshelves than anyone else I know). I’ve been poking around various types of witchcraft, such as garden, kitchen, and stitch witchery, and I’m recently realizing that perhaps my childhood obsession with fairies means that I’m going to be learning more about various kinds of fae. The chronic issues I deal with are depression/anxiety, IBS (which is mostly centered around my anxiety), fatigue (also probably from the anxiety), and headaches (same again, we have a pattern). Tomorrow’s prompt is about drinks, so I will discuss my favorite Magic Potions then.

30 Days of Spoonie Witchery- Day 6
Netflix and Chill
"What are your favorite witchy themed films or TV shows? Do you watch any witchy youtubers? Are you a witchy youtuber?"
I do not watch any witchy youtubers, but I'd love some recommendations if anyone has any!
Some of my favorite movies are:
Practical Magic (Big fave! Two girls try to avoid a family curse which curses anyone who falls in love with them. Great modern day witchy representation.)
Hocus Pocus (A classic kid's movie about children who are trying to fight off three bad witches who have awoken on Halloween.)
Some of my favorite shows are:
Little Witch Academia (Cutest cartoon about a first generation witch who is struggling to fit in at a fancy witchy boarding school. 10/10 Highly recommend! There is also a movie.)
The Good Witch (A good tv drama with some accurate portrayal of modern witchcraft.)
Sabrina the Teenage Witch (I haven't watched this one in awhile, but was a big fave when I was younger.)
Bewitched (A tv classic, I used to watch this as a kid.)
Honorable Mentions:
Puella Magi Madoka Magicka (Not really witches, but they fight "witches"... Either way it's a really fun anime with supernatural elements.)
Chocolat (Not really a witch? But the main character has great intuition perhaps? Or she really is a witch. Either way, I always want to eat chocolate and pet a kangaroo by the end of the movie.)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Willow, one friend of the main character, becomes a super badass witch towards the end of the series. Probably one of my top 5 TV witches.)

30 Days of Spoonie Witchery: Day 13
Day 13-  let’s celebrate! What is your favourite Sabbat or witchy festival? Do you have any witchy tips for celebrating witchy festivals with low spoons?
∆ Samhain (Oct. 31st)
Tumblr media
It's my favorite time of the year, and it's when I feel most connected to the earth and those around me.
∆ Yule ( Dec. 21st)
Tumblr media
This is my favorite festival as well because I feel intensely connected with my God's, and I feel so deeply at this time of year.
My advice when going to festivals, or any kind of Witchy Celebration; is to know your limits. Make sure you know what's going on and how long it will be going on, please take a Spoonie bag ( Meds, mobility aids, phone charger, etc.)
Make sure you have a way to get home, and be safe. Pace yourself, I know you are excited (I get hella excited myself) but please take care of yourself.
If your making your own witchy celebration, you typically don't have to worry as much. Just make sure to remember your limits.

Spoonie Witchery Day 17
a no spoons day I haven't had a no spoons day since I started doing magic so I'm not really sure what my procedure will be. I will say I personally feel worse if I beat myself up about it, though— like yeah, I feel like I should be able to do more but I fucking can’t so I’m gonna go back to sleep and not feel guilty about it. I’ll probably take the no spoons days to charge my tarot decks and stuff under my pillow though.

(30 Days of SW) Days 4, 5, n 6
These might be short so I'm kinda glad I fell a little behind, haha.
"Create or share a bath or shower spell, for example a muscle soothing bath soak."
Tbh I've never really spent time writing my own spells n methods, haha. My partner is really good at it tho, and I feel like there's a lot I could learn from them!
I tend to purchase a lot of "witchy"-scented shower/bath products. There's an excellent company up here that sells amazing Epsom salt blends. So I'm most familiar w their ingredients and would likely attempt to replicate them for my own bathtime magics if I needed to do so from scratch.
As it is tho, it tends to be more economical and spoon-saving to purchase these pre-made blends and the "spell" components take the form of how I approach/accompany the experience. Music choices, incense/scents, candles/lighting, and thoughts/intents while the bath or shower is prepared!
"Do you keep a Book Of Shadows or Grimoire? Do you have any tips for low spoons witchy journaling?"
I don't keep anything specifically geared toward my spiritual journey or witchy doings anymore. Largely because things have been so sporadic and dormant. It's something I would really like to progress to but it's always been v intimidating in my mind.
Plus, re-writing information that's so easily accessible online seems.. redundant and energy-expensive? But! I've kept a journal for almost five years now? At times dedicatedly day-to-day but always w stretches of absence.
My advice would always be to just write, don't obsess! And if your not in a good space or mood, don't force it! Keeping the experience positive is more important than output - esp w personal gains.
"What are your favourite witchy themed films or TV shows? Do you watch any witchy youtubers? Are you a witchy youtuber?"
Don't have any! I tend to stay far, far away from all of it. Either it doesn't resonate or it's just plain promblematic or triggering to me.
