Tardigrade Mother’s Day card

Tardigrades are microscopic animals that live in almost every environment on Earth and can survive exposure to extreme temperatures, extreme pressures (both high and low), air deprivation, radiation, dehydration, and starvation. 

Some tardigrades have survived exposure to the vacuum of outer space. They can go without food or water for more than 30 years, drying out to the point where they are 3% or less water, only to rehydrate, forage, and reproduce! 

Usually, tardigrades are about 0.5 mm (0.02 in) long when they are fully grown. They are short and plump, with four pairs of legs. Tardigrades often live in mosses and lichens.
