Michael Crawford, Barbra Streisand - Put On Your Sunday Clothes 1969

Hello, Dolly! is a 1969 American musical romantic comedy film based on the 1964 Broadway production of the same name, which was based on Thornton Wilder's play The Matchmaker. Directed by Gene Kelly and written and produced by Ernest Lehman, the film stars Barbra Streisand, Walter Matthau, Michael Crawford, Danny Lockin, Tommy Tune, Fritz Feld, Marianne McAndrew, E. J. Peaker and Louis Armstrong (whose recording of the title tune had become a number-one single in May 1964). The film won three Academy Awards for Best Art Direction, Best Score of a Musical Picture and Best Sound and was nominated for a further four Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Michael Crawford was later cast as the original Phantom of the Opera, in the West End and Broadway productions.

The songs "Put On Your Sunday Clothes" and "It Only Takes A Moment" were later used in the 2008 Disney/Pixar film WALL-E. WALL-E keeps a recording of the song on him and listens to it while he works cleaning up the garbage. An instrumental version of "Put On Your Sunday Clothes" is also used as WALL-E's theme song in the game Dreamlight Valley.

The Last Man on Earth's soundtrack is available on vinyl for the first time for $40 via Waxwork Records. Shipping in August, the score is composed by Paul Sawtell (The Fly) and Bert Shefter (Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!).

The 2xLP album is pressed on 180-gram neon green vinyl with green and yellow splatter. It’s housed in a gatefold jacket with matte satin coating featuring art by Graham Humphreys and an 11x11 booklet featuring an interview with Victoria Price by Rob Zombie.

The Last Man on Earth is the latest title under the Rob Zombie Presents banner, following White Zombie, Spider Baby, Carnival of Souls, and House on Haunted Hill.

RECORDING SESSION Soundtrack Sessions for MGM’s Double Trouble June 28-29, 1966 (7PM–12AM; 1–3AM): Radio Recorders and MGM Studios Recording Stage, Hollywood. Ever since the frustrating exercise of making the music for his first two movies, Love Me Tender and Loving You, Elvis had insisted on doing his soundtrack recording in a regular studio setting, not on a large, impersonal sound stage where he felt he couldn’t perform at his best. Disgusted with yet another round of lackluster material provided by his own publishing companies, Elvis showed up late at Radio Recorders for the Double Trouble sessions; but this time the result was that MGM studio executives moved the next night’s sessions to their own sound stage, saving money for themselves and for the film’s eventual bottom line (in which Elvis and the Colonel too had a share). Elvis had long since learned from Colonel Tom to be mindful of his obligations, and he raised no explicit objections—but he could not have been pleased when he heard the sound of the recordings they were making. The soundstage had all the presence of a giant tin can. Poor miking and generally sloppy engineering produced a sound that might have worked for mono cinema playback, but scarcely for the work of a major recording artist. (...) The session concluded with the rerecording of a single with a title as long as the song was short — “Long Legged Girl (With A Short Dress On),” which ran, mercifully, for one minute, twenty-seven seconds. RELEASE On April 28, 1967 "Long Legged Girl (With the Short Dress On)" was released as A-Side Single (backed with "That’s Someone You Never Forget", which had originally appeared on 1962’s Pot Luck; ref. 47-9115) by Elvis Presley with the Jordanaires. A couple of months later, in June 1967, it came out on the Soundtrack album Double Trouble (ref. RD-7892).

Everyone talks about how amazing the princess bride is (rightfully so) but people don’t talk enough about the soundtrack. The motifs the themes the impeccable vibes. Have you sat down and listened to “guide my sword”? Have you heard “the friends’ song” and heard the guitar and horn in conversation with each other in a light and playful dance, much like Inigo and Fezziks’ friendship? Mark Knopfler is a legend. A legend I say!!!!

Every time I see this movie I have to remind myself that I'm not high.

While not really a standout compared to other Beatles albums, I feel people don't give it enough credit. Three of the four "original" songs on this album ("It's All Too Much", "All Together Now", and "Only A Northern Song") were actually shelved outtakes from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Magical Mystery Tour, and would've stayed shelved if not for this movie ("Hey Bulldog" was the only true original composition, being hastily written and recorded to fulfill that four-song quota).

Elvis Presley - Can't Help Falling in Love 1961

Blue Hawaii is the fourth soundtrack album by the American singer Elvis Presley, belonging to the 1961 film of the same name starring Presley. In the US, the album spent 20 weeks at the number one slot and 39 weeks in the Top 10 on Billboard's Top Pop LPs chart.

The songs "Can't Help Falling in Love" and "Rock-A-Hula Baby" were pulled off the album for two sides of a single. The A-side "Can't Help Falling in Love," which became the standard closer for a Presley concert in the 1970s, went to number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and it topped the British charts in 1962, spending four weeks at number 1.

The melody to "Can't Help Falling in Love" is based on "Plaisir d'amour", a popular French love song composed in 1784 by Jean-Paul-Égide Martini. The song was initially written from the perspective of a woman as "Can't Help Falling in Love with Him", which explains the first and third line ending on "in" and "sin" rather than words rhyming with "you".

The song has been recorded by many other artists, including the British reggae group UB40, whose 1993 version topped the US and UK charts.
