Mikayuu BB: Fic Summaries
Here are the fic summaries from our writers!
How this will work: Artists! You’ll be looking at the fics below and choosing your top three, filling them out in the linked form below! (Please only fill it out once!)
https://forms.gle/DgaMFRzFE2S6EPMz9
FIC SUMMARIES
FIC 1
Tags:  Canon compliant, Season 1 alternative ending, Blood drinking
Summary:  During the battle in Shinjuku, Yuu and Mika run away from the battlefield, after some urging from the latter. They hide in an old hotel. But Mika only has a limited blood supply. And when he runs out, his only option, the only one he refused. And he ends up drinking Yuu’s blood.
FIC 2 [NSFW Fic]
Tags:  NSFW, Dub/Noncon, Size difference, Bottom Mika, Top Yuu.
Summary:  Mika is a veteran planetrusher, but even that could not prepare him for what the icy hell hole of a planet had in store for him. His medicine side effects leave him shaking and trembling inside an unknown cave in the middle of an ice storm, and — wait, are those footsteps he hears outside?
FIC 3
Tags:  emotional degradation, blood, violence, death, angst overload, not a happy ending/fic
Summary:  Vampires held no emotions for others; it was common knowledge to every human. Such creatures couldn't be reasoned with. Yuu ignored every warning he was given, shielding Mika from everyone in the hopes they could live peacefully in their own little corner of Shibuya. But with Mika now a full vampire, he could no longer ignore the way Mika acted so distant and uncaring to everyone else, especially when he was only getting worse. Sooner or later, a line would be crossed Yuu wasn't prepared or willing to face.
FIC 4
Tags:  some blood and gore
Summary:  Do NOT attempt to read from any of Ferid’s ancient spell books out loud. Especially not if you’re in the dark, holding a blood vial in one hand and a lit candle in the other. Yuu learn this lesson the hard way, when one night he falls victim to a powerful age-reversing spell that will cause trouble for every one who’s left to take care of him during the side-effects. Mika, in particular…
FIC 5
Tags:  Workplace bullying, financial crimes
Summary:  Mika is an accountant who hates his job. He's overworked, underpaid, and his coworkers are awful and probably committing fraud. When his firm is investigated by a team of lawyers he meets someone he never though he'd see again: his long lost childhood friend Yuuichiro.
FIC 6
Tags:  Melancholy, memories, loss of humanity, Mention of death of a character, blood, Constant mental dilemmas, angst feelings, based on the canon without gore scenes, VERY SOFT FIC.
Summary:  Faced with the reality of a catastrophe, and the follow-up of a war, the struggle for survival is something of every day, regardless of the race belonging. Yuuichiro and Mikaela look around an area for a place to shelter and look for food, which leads them to meet Misho; a little girl surviving in a human shelter.
Mikaela suffers from his constant thirst, and with this new human travelling with them, he becomes more aware of it. MIkaela and Yuu struggle with their feelings while trying to survive.
FIC 7
Tags:  None specifically. it's not nsfw, blood(?)
Summary:  mf skryrim but i refuse to pay Copyright combined with some other mechanics.  Yuichiro never believed that witches and a secret brotherhood of magical beings existed, he simply thought they were tales of priests and elders to scare children, until he has to go on his first expedition as a novice adventurer and runs into a  real witcher.
FIC 8 [NSFW Fic]
Tags:  Yuumika, meet-cute, no angst, nsfw, smut, no penetration though, use of marijuana, casual drinking, yoga on the beach, imagine a beach episode but sexy, fluff, love at first sight vibes, Akane is Mika’s bff, Mika POV, Mika immediately is overwhelmed by his crush on Yuu, warm 80’s or 90’s vibes, Mika rollerblades along the beach
Summary:  “Do you know how they say there is a rare moment that, when the sun falls below the edge, the sky flashes green? God, it’s true. And it’s spectacular.”
Mikaela spends a warm summer evening at the beach, stumbling into Yuuichiro, a beautiful boy he saw for the first time right as the sun set below the waves.
FIC 9
Tags:  vamp mikayuu, blood drinking, murder, actually cute
Summary:  "I know a more...secluded place." His voice was quiet, but he was close enough to the boy's ear that he was sure to be heard even through the noise. Standing upright, Yuu smiled at the boy's eager nod, and led him away from the festivity and further into the woods. It was just that easy.
In which recently turned Yuu learns to hunt for himself, even if part of him would rather be spending time with his boyfriend in the festival.
FIC 10
Tags:  Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Basically reimagining of the Ikebukuro chapter if it was canon, Alternate Universe - High School, Lacus and Rene are here because I said so, Mutual Pining, Sexual Tension, Implied/Referenced Sexual Assault, one-sided Lacumika if you squint, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD, Mika goes to school and hates every second of it, Fluff and Angst, Ambiguous/Open Ending, POV Hyakuya Mikaela
Summary:  "It was only supposed to take one week. Get into Ikebukuro, pilfer the school’s records for useful information, and report back." A chance encounter leads Mikaela to reunite with Yuuichirou in Ikebukuro. He has one week to convince him to desert the army and run away.
OR  A reimagining of if the Ikebukuro chapter took place in canon, but with Mika.

The Meaning of Home, Chapter 6
The Meaning of Home Chapter 6
Tags for all Welcome to PHU novels will be available at the PHU tag list on Pillowfort. This list is under construction as of Sept. 5, 2021.
[ Previous | First | Next ]
It’s been a long time since Pawel has felt this uncomfortable in his car.
That’s probably because he can’t remember the last time he had someone who had ever been, or could be, personally interesting to him in the front seat. No, that’s a lie. He definitely remembers. It was Chelsea, way back when he was still young. Before she had Conor and disappeared from his life. Before he grew up fast because of fatherhood.
He keeps his head facing front, but his gaze slides sideways to where Leo sits. Leo’s long legs are bent sharply, because Emma demanded that he slide his seat forward and give her more legroom. He watches the road, giving Pawel a perfect view of his unfairly square jawline and stoic attitude.
Pawel feels like he’s fifteen all over again, staring at the unattainable hot jock from across the cafeteria.
It’s highly unfair, since when he was fifteen it turned out Leo was attainable after all. But now? Now he is definitely not just out of Pawel’s league, but also married to the other unattainable guy in Pawel’s life.
Pawel exhales, and Leo glances over. “What?” Leo asks.
“As much as I love road trips, I’ve been in the car a lot recently, and I’m not any better at sitting still than I used to be.” It’s all true, even if it’s a bit of a misdirection. Conor seems to illustrate the point in the back seat as he twists to sit sideways, one knee drawn up on the seat, so he can look at Emma. “Neither of us are,” Pawel admits.
“I can drive part of the way.” Leo arches both eyebrows. “You don’t have to do everything yourself.”
“Oh, ha ha, now you sound like my dad. I’m fine. Driving at least gives me something to do.” Pawel looks in the rear view mirror, trying to get an idea what the kids are doing.
Conor’s now leaning across the seat, one hand firmly planted in the middle while he stretches to peer out Emma’s window. She has a hand raised, one finger pointed like she’s drawing on the glass.
Outside, the fluffy clouds in the sky are dancing against the wind currents, knocking against each other like little bumper cars.
“Don’t make it rain,” Leo murmurs. He has to raise his voice and repeat himself before Emma lowers her finger and makes a face at him.
“We can’t hear you back here,” Conor says loudly. “You have the music on. We can hear each other but not you.”
That is probably both true, and a ploy to make them feel at ease so Conor can listen in on whatever they talk about. Pawel isn’t falling for the latter part. “Want me to turn up the music more, so you don’t have to hear boring adult conversations?” he offers. “Or will that make it too hard for you to hear each other?”
Conor shrugs. “Whatever. Turn it up. We don’t care. Just play something good, okay?”
“It’s a mix of some of the bands we’ll be seeing,” Pawel tells him. He twists the knob up two notches. The music is still at a level he feels comfortable talking to Leo over, but hopefully it’s also loud enough to muddle their conversation for the kids.
Leo twists around, looking back at them both. Emma has both hands on the window and is spreading them apart, while the clouds in the sky echo her motion, breaking up into fuzzy wisps.
“I haven’t seen her this at ease since she came to us,” Leo says as he settles back into his seat. “She’s relaxed and having fun. Thank you for this.”
“Thanks for coming.” The words come out automatically. Pawel means them, yes, but he can’t deny the awkwardness of the situation. Not that Leo seems to feel it at all. “Conor will have a lot more fun with a friend, and I understand you not being comfortable sending your kid off with someone who might as well be a stranger now.” He remembers what Leo said about Emma having abandonment issues, but Pawel thinks that can’t be all of it. How do you trust someone you no longer really know?
“You’re not a stranger.”
Pawel’s gaze slides sideways again. Leo is looking at him full on, his head slightly tilted and brow furrowed like he didn’t understand Pawel’s statement. “It’s been more than a decade,” Pawel says slowly. “No matter how much my dad has told you about my life, you still don’t know me like you did when we were teenagers. Besides, for all that Emma insists that you two aren’t her dads, she seems to trust you.”
“Now,” Leo agrees. “It’s been a few months, and it hasn’t been easy. She’s still waiting for her parents to show up and take her home.”
They exchange a look; Pawel thinks they are in agreement. No matter how much Conor might insist that they can’t hear and aren’t listening, this isn’t a topic to be discussed in front of the kids.
The car hiccups, speed inconsistent for a moment as the instrumentation in the dash wobbles.
Speaking of the kids…. Pawel dials down the music volume and raises his voice. “Conor, no magic in the car.”
“I was just showing Emma how I could—”
Pawel cuts off his protest. “And I’d like to make it to Buffalo without the car breaking down. Do you remember what happened when we went with Alan and Emily to Mystic Seaport? Emily laughed, yes, but it took three days to get the computer in her car fixed, and we got stuck for longer than we were supposed to be there. Leo needs to be back at work on Monday, and you two are still in school. So, no endangering the car.”
“But that was both me and Alan,” Conor protests. “We were both doing magic.”
“And you’re stronger now alone than you were with him then,” Pawel reminds him. “So, no magic in the car. Save it for later.” At the soft snort from Leo, Pawel grumbles, “You won’t think it’s funny if we’re stranded on the side of the road because the car just won’t go.”
“Fine!” Conor agrees loudly. He crosses his arms and slumps down.
Emma undoes her seatbelt with a click and slides into the middle of the seat, buckling in there. She leans against Conor’s shoulder, and they start whispering low enough that Pawel can’t hear them.
“No more magic,” Pawel warns.
“I won’t.” Conor’s agreement is given grudgingly, but Pawel trusts that he’ll follow through.
Leo twists the music back to the higher volume. His mouth is pressed together, like he’s trying to trap a laugh; his eyes have tiny lines at the corner, and are lit with that hidden humor.
It is absolutely unfair how Leo exudes attractiveness. Pawel wouldn’t have guessed Clan, if he’d had to pick a Talent. Empath maybe, because Leo has a way of putting people at ease despite his often stoic attitude. He’s almost gentle and caring enough to make Pawel believe that angels could be real.
Pawel exhales slowly again, glancing down at the speedometer, then at a blue sign as they pass by. He raises his voice. “Anyone need a pit stop?”
“I’m hungry!” Conor says after a quick conferral. “We want fries!”
“I could use a stop.” Leo stares down at his phone in his hands, brow furrowed. “I’ve got a text from Lucy.”
It’s not worth arguing about buying fries instead of eating the snacks and sandwiches they’d packed. “Five miles, so five minutes,” Pawel calls out. He waits until the kids go back to chattering beneath the music before he asks, “What sort of a text from Lucy?”
Leo is tapping something out on his phone. “She wants to know if she can call me, even though she knows it should be the middle of the workday. Which means something’s up.” He looks at Pawel, but his gaze flicks to the back seat momentarily.
Something to do with fostering. Leo’s worried that it has something to do with Emma. Pawel wonders what kind of emergency Lucy could be having. “We can picnic at one of the tables at the rest stop, and let the kids stretch their legs,” he suggests. “Once we get them settled, we can either do the same or wait until they decide to race away from us. If they’re occupied away from the table, you can call.”
Leo quickly types something out again and sends it without responding to Pawel. He sits back, eyes closed, hands holding his phone against his abdomen.
Pawel navigates the few miles to the rest stop. They manage to wrangle the kids inside, and Pawel supervises them at the bathrooms while Leo picks up fries for four. They grab the last remaining picnic table on the grass at the far end of the parking lot, and for all of ten minutes, everything is quiet while Conor and Emma eat.
Their fries are gone, along with sandwiches and a shared milkshake, before Pawel finishes half his sandwich.
“Go burn off some energy,” Pawel directs. “But stay in sight.” He glances at Leo to make sure that’s okay with him; Leo is already nodding his permission to Emma.
They take off, Conor yelling something unintelligible before he sends a shower of sparks up in the air.
“If they keep going like that, it’s probably going to rain on him,” Leo says mildly as he gets his phone out. He sets it on the table, and presses the correct buttons to call Lucy and put it on speaker. “I hope you don’t mind.”
“He’ll dry off quickly,” Pawel assures him. “If they want to have a magical battle now, while they’re out of the car, that’s fine with me. Hopefully no one gets upset with them.”
In the distance, Conor and Emma reroute just before they get too close to another picnic table. They’ll self-monitor. Pawel trusts his son. Mostly.
“Leo!” Lucy’s voice is cheerful, and there’s a clatter of noise in the background. “Hang on. I’ve got someone covering my class for recess, let me just step inside, okay?” Footsteps, and a heavy door closing. “There we go. This is pretty much the only twenty minutes of privacy I’m going to have today. I’m glad you were able to talk.”
“I’m actually on vacation for the weekend,” Leo says. “And you’re on speaker. I’ve got Pawel Szczek with me. Or rather, Emma and I are with him and his son.”
There’s a brief pause. Pawel can hear the smile in Lucy’s voice when she speaks again. “Pawel. It’s good to talk to you. I think I know which family and kids your son has met, now. I didn’t know you knew Leo and Colt.”
Pawel avoids meeting Leo’s gaze. The phone is fascinating, as is the picnic table. “We went to high school together. I haven’t seen either of them in a long time, until Conor introduced me to Emma. We’re actually heading out to Buffalo this weekend to see your kids play at the festival. Conor invited Emma, and Leo invited himself.”
“They’re good parents,” Lucy says. “I trust them with some of my most troubled kids. How’s Colt going to handle a weekend alone with the others?”
“I think it depends on how much schoolwork Matt’s going to try to avoid, and how much screen time Colt lets Matt and Duke have,” Leo says. “We need to get back on the road soon, but for the moment Conor and Emma are off pretending they’re a thunderstorm, which means we have a few minutes of peace. Relatively speaking.”
It’s not a bad description. Emma’s called in the clouds, drawing them overhead, and Conor’s sparks look like tiny lightning bolts through the miniature storm.
They are definitely both drenched.
“You don’t call that often,” Leo says quietly, leaning his elbows on the table. “Did you find out something about Emma’s parents?”
“What? Oh, no, nothing new there. I’m sorry.”
Some of the tension bleeds out of Leo’s shoulders. “I don’t know whether I should say good, or be frustrated about that,” he mutters. “Okay. What did you call for, then? It’s not Matt’s folks, is it? Or Nevaeh and Jennie’s?”
“Relax. Your kids are all fine, and no one’s taking any of them away.” Lucy’s voice is low and gentle. “Actually, I know room is tight, but I was wondering if you could squeeze in three more. Even if it’s only for a little while, to give me time to find them a permanent placement. It’d be a huge help.”
Leo taps the table, drawing something Pawel can’t understand. Leo considers the invisible drawing, his forehead furrowed. “It’ll be tight. We can get another bed into Nevaeh’s room, maybe a bunk bed. I could move her in with Jennie, and put your three new—wait, are they siblings? Can they share a room?”
“Siblings, yes, and Clan. They can share a bed if they need to,” Lucy says. “They’re equally as comfortable being mice as they are children. Their community tends toward very strong views about spending time in their non-human forms.”
“Are they going to have difficulty sharing space with the non-Clan members of our family?” Leo asks.
“I gave them a choice,” Lucy admits. “You’re my first choice, but I let them pick, because I know you’re already a full house. My other two options were a brother and sister pair of Weather Witches in Pennsylvania, or taking them to Rowan’s family out in Burlington. As soon as I said you were Clan, they picked you. They know that there will be other Talents in the same house.”
“What happened?” Pawel asks quietly. If they’re Clan—and it sounds more like Alaric’s family than Leo’s—then he’s not sure why they need to be placed.
Leo’s expression darkens. “How much trauma?”
“Their grandparents are alive.” Lucy’s voice is slow and careful. “You’ve dealt with runaways before, and you know how to handle kids coming from homes that are not kind to them. The youngest of the three Emerged.”
“Secondary Emergence,” Pawel murmurs.
“Exactly. She’s not a subject for studying, Pawel. You have plenty of those with your students, who are old enough to consent to have their lives used as case studies,” Lucy chides gently. “Alanna is a Traveler.”
“You’ve adopted my terminology.” He can’t help but have a bit of glee with that. He only started to categorize this new class of Talent recently, after meeting multiple Emergent Talents, all of whom Traveled in different ways.
“It works. Alanna teleports. She’s got a strong Talent, for someone so small, and she’s able to take the equivalent of multiple adults with her. The children were living with their grandparents, but after Alanna Emerged, it became clear they’d need to escape in order to keep Alanna safe. The older two trusted their teachers, who thankfully knew about our network.”
Pawel isn’t sure how to interpret the look Leo gives him, before Leo returns his attention to the phone. “I have to talk to Colt,” Leo says. “But I think we can manage it. Where are they now?”
“They’re with me. With my mother while I’m at work,” Lucy admits. “Alanna teleported her siblings out of their community, and we had to work quickly with social services. Which is not easy. I have temporary custody while I find a suitable placement, but if I can’t find that placement—”
“I understand. Do you need us to come pick them up next week?” Leo suggests. “Colt and I can take two cars—”
“Actually,” Lucy interrupts him. “I have a better idea. I’d originally been planning to offer to drive them to your place this weekend. Which I can still do. However, Daniel’s performing for that festival date. I’d originally planned on going, since it’s his only date with the festival, then this came up. I was going to miss his show, but now we can kill two birds with one stone. I’ll meet you in Buffalo, you can get to know the kids, and then I’ll drive back with you since I doubt you planned on needing space for three more kids.”
“They will not fit in my car as children,” Pawel agrees. He’s not sure he wants them riding in the car as mice, either. Would that even be safe for them?
“I still need to check with Colt,” Leo cautions. His elbows are on the table, his head in his hands.
“Colt’s going to say yes,” Lucy says mildly. “Unless I hear otherwise, I’ll plan on seeing you Saturday. We’ll meet at either Lot 42’s set, or Phoenix Rising’s set, whichever is first. Check the schedule board when you get to the venue. Thank you, Leo. You’re a lifesaver.”
The line goes dead with Leo still staring at his phone. “Colt’s going to say yes,” he echoes.
Pawel isn’t sure what he’s supposed to say or do in this situation. He can’t exactly offer to take them in instead; his father barely has room for him. “Emma can stay with—”
“It’s fine,” Leo says. “We’ll figure it out. But maybe, yes, for a day or two, that might help. Or someone can sleep on a floor, or… we’ll figure it out.”
He hasn’t moved yet, still staring at the phone which now shows his lock screen—a picture of himself and Colt and all five children. In the image Emma is glaring; Pawel wonders if it was taken not long after she came to them.
“Do you want to call Colt?” Pawel asks. When Leo glances at the time and shakes his head, Pawel nudges the phone closer to him. “Then we should probably put the storm twins in the car and get back on the road,” he suggests. “And if you do need anything….” Pawel trails off. What he is able to offer is immaterial; he feels like he should offer something.
Leo picks up his phone and fires off a text quickly. “It’ll be fine. I think we might need to move up our plans for buying a new house, though. At the rate we’re going, we’ll be an entire community in one family, and I’m not sure they make houses that big that we can afford.”
“Conor! Emma!” Pawel motions along with the yell. Both kids rush over, and as soon as they stop, sparks fly from Conor’s fingertips, skittering over them until they’re dry.
Leo smiles slightly. “Nice trick.”
“I’m good,” Conor agrees with a small smirk.
“What’s wrong?” Emma frowns, crossing her arms as she looks at Leo.
“Nothing.” She wasn’t asking him, but Pawel answers as he gets a hand on each of their backs and pushes them toward the car. “Let’s get back on the road so we can get in at a reasonable hour.”
For a moment it looks like Emma’s going to object, then Conor grabs her hand and tugs. They race toward the car, yanking the doors open as soon as Pawel taps the button to unlock it.
Leo stands more slowly. “We’ve got this,” he mutters.
It sounds like he’s trying to convince himself. Pawel doesn’t know if he means the trip, or taking in more kids; he’s not sure he can really reassure him on either point.

 Day 6: Hurt/Comfort
A week after the monster attack, Kaiba wandered off on a pretty cloudy day out of his and Yugi’s cave den, while Yugi was away. He thought the other had things to do and usually he would be right about that.
The air was cold and wind was starting to pick up, but he was hellbent to find Yugi. It was quite late and Yugi wouldn’t have any reason to stay out in this cold weather, Kaiba observed how by each day for the whole week Yugi would return before the sun set, but today was different and that was alerting him. Though he didn’t know why.
Kaiba took off again from the ground and flew through the trees in attempts to find Yugi. Fog was settling in and all the surroundings seemed to darken and fade, but Kaiba kept trying, calling out for Yugi, yet there was no response.
A blizzard has started and Kaiba protected his head and neck with his wing as he landed down against a tree that seemed like it would fall and break at any minute. The winds kept roaring through the forest and for a moment Kaiba thought he heard a roar.
‘’I have to find Yugi. This weather is crazy, he won’t make it out if he stays in it even if he’s a ice type!’’ he decided to run around in another attempt to find Yugi, wings folded and eyes turning to look for any sign. Nothing. Just snow everywhere. Snow and trees.
Then he felt like he was watched and looked around again. There was nothing into the thick blinding fog and blizzard. His instincts were high on alert and tried to keep quiet as he walked and ran through the storm.
‘’Where are you, Yugi?...’’ Kaiba couldn’t put his finger on it, but he kept feeling something strange. Something was wrong and he didn’t know what and it was driving him crazy.
Then he heard a growl and turned his head in all directions. There was nothing there!
‘’Am I going crazy?!’’ but then he heard the growl again, this time closer. His eyes opened wide, he kept looking until he noticed a pair of bright blue burning eyes watching him, no, hunting him. Kaiba opened his wings to scare the other as he growled back, but it seemed that the other had other plans. Burning through the fog, Kaiba caught a glimpse of a mouth opening, bright fire readying to aim him. Kaiba flew off the ground to avoid the shot and was readying his own shot, then aimed at the other.
If you’ve hurt Yugi, I will-
But his trail of thoughts stopped when the other blocked the shot with a wall of ice, and in that brief moment the lighting and ice lit up the place, revealing none other then Yugi. The same Yugi who was the protector of this forest. The same Yugi he loved. Though he couldn’t tell what happened to him. To those sparkly amethyst eyes. Those weren’t the same friendly and playful eyes he was used to. Those were cold. Deadly cold and dangerous.
He was about to say something when another shot was aimed at him and he blocked it with his own fire. The wind seemed to want to knock Kaiba down as he barely was able to fly idly in air.
That can’t be Yugi. It can’t be!
Though Yugi wasn’t going to stop. Through growls and roars, he flew off the ground like nothing was even happening and towards Kaiba. Kaiba fired another shot, but missed and had to start flying away from Yugi.
The wind now was coming from his back so he was able to steady his position in air. As he kept flying, all he was able to see around was snow. There were no rocks. There were no trees either anymore. Just snow. There was no where to hide. In a situation like this he would fight back and win, but this was Yugi. Or so he hoped. And he hoped Yugi would just stop or that maybe he lost him, but Yugi was catching up to Kaiba and fast.
Then the wind shifted around and was now blowing towards Kaiba from the front, not only slowing him down, but also unbalancing him. Yugi started firing at Kaiba and he dodged the first shot, though the second managed to touch his right wing. Just as it did, the fire spread around his whole wing and in seconds froze it.
‘’Shit!’’ With the sudden frozen wing, Kaiba had crashed on the ground in the snow with loud thuds. He got up, but he could barely walk, feeling like his wing would be torn off at any minute by the ice that was weighting him down.
Before he could deal with the ice though, Yugi landed in front of him, his feet loud against the soft snow underneath. That land only lasted a few seconds as he lunged himself at Kaiba, throwing him on his back in the snow. Kaiba couldn’t make out any words from Yugi, because he wasn’t talking. He was growling, hissing, roaring, but they weren’t his usual sounds. Those sounded animalic. Feral. Like a monster with no brain.
‘’Yugi-’’ it was pointless and he had to fight back, claws against scales, jaws threatening to shred necks apart and roars back and forth. Kaiba had a few bleeding wounds, but so did Yugi. Then Yugi clawed his face and another wound was now bleeding from his upper jaw, till his eye.
The snow and wind was always there, and it only seemed to make Yugi stronger. Kaiba had no choice and aimed towards Yugi’s face with one of his lighting attacks. Usually they would blind the opponent temporarly, but Yugi seemed rather disoriented for a second before looking at Kaiba again. Then he fired a second attack, this time managing to have Yugi off of him, seeming totally lost as he tried looking all ways and standing up.
While Yugi was recollecting himself, Kaiba had enough time to use a smaller attack to break the ice from his wing. He could swear he was going to get frostbite soon, as he barely managed to fold his right wing. Then he ran. He kept running into a straight direction, his mind working as he mapped the forest.
Blank space. No trees or rocks. There should be caves around, or a formation of rocks that surrounded this place.
The place that Yugi called Sanctuary due to the emptiness of it, because you always would have advantage of seeing the enemy first as they had no where to hide. Yugi had led him into a trap. He had the advantage now, and for the first time in a long time, Kaiba felt like the hunted. He wasn’t the hunter any longer.
To his slight relief, Kaiba found a small cave-in. He went in and steadied his breath as he tried to keep silent. Unfortunately for him, Yugi found him. And he was taking in all his features as his silhouette was close to the cave. He now had quills all around his back and he seemed to have grown in size. Kaiba didn’t want to attack again, he was sure that would make Yugi go blind for his whole life. But the beast before him growled as he looked inside, and Kaiba opened his mouth to gather all the fire from within him. Thousands of lightings gathered in his mouth, threatening to wipe anyone and anything out.
In the same time, the wind seemed to died out, the storm slowly stopped and as it did, so did Yugi. The blue in his eyes seemed to vanish, the quills hid under his scales and with that, a final thud was heard as Yugi passed out on the ground, his size shrinking a little.
Kaiba bit the fire back in his throat and sighed in relief. But then went to Yugi to check if he’s okay. He had pulse, that was good. Outside was now just snowing, flurries making their way down and some fog remained.
Kaiba opened his wing, and noticed how the other was barely opening, so the whole idea of flight was out.
‘’I guess we are going to take a walk back home then.’’ He folded his wings and slipper underneath Yugi, then slowly stood up as Yugi’s body was against his back, his head hanging from Kaiba’s neck. And with that, Kaiba walked, now able to see better until the fog disappeared entirely. He had to balance Yugi on his back a few times, but rather have that than a killing machine.
---
Yugi opened his eyes and saw so many black and even green spots that he had to close them again and groaned. After a few tries, he looked up to find Kaiba beside him, his wing seemed to be quite uncomfortable while the other was kept folded loosely.
He also noticed the wounds. Same wounds he saw bleeding before passing out. Kaiba was looking right at him, concern in his eyes, but also his usual cool stare.
‘’What happened out there?’’Kaiba wasn’t sure if Yugi was able to see him or not, but he also needed answers.
‘’S-Seto! I told you to stay inside no matter what! I told you to not go out at any costs!’’
‘’Well you never even told me what you do out there during my hibernation!’’ Kaiba hissed a bit, and Yugi tried to get up, but suddenly fell back and shut his eyes as he leaned his head against the stony wall. Kaiba’s expression hardened and looked at Yugi closer.
Yugi only looked briefly at him and growled ‘’I could’ve killed you! If you didn’t fight back, you would’ve been dead in seconds!’’
‘’I fought back! So-’’ Kaiba stopped when Yugi had his eyes shut again in distress, head leaning tightly against the rock. ‘’Hey...Are you ok?’’
‘’I...’’ Yugi stopped for a moment and breathed between his hisses ‘’After the event I would get headaches, but this feels like my head is ripping itself apart and I can’t sense anything but pain...’’
Kaiba thought back at the moment he attacked Yugi to get him off of him. He wasn’t looking like he couldn’t see. He was looking like he couldn’t sense anything.
‘’Oh no... My attack must have affected your nerves.’’ Yugi wanted to argue, but Kaiba was faster ‘’Go back to sleep. You should rest.’’
‘’I’m not-’’ Kaiba hissed and was looking rather annoyed, but Yugi could tell that concern in his eyes as he spoke ‘’Sleep. Now.’’ to which Yugi obliged.
---
One day passed and during the night, Yugi woke up once. Kaiba wanted to speak to him, but he looked frightened and in panic. His eyes were wide and he seemed to try to talk, but the only sounds that came out were whimpers. Kaiba stood next to Yugi and nuzzled gentle his snoot as he purred softly. That seemed to calm Yugi and soon after fell back to sleep.
---
Three days passed and now Yugi finally woke up again. This time he was the first one awake. He noticed Kaiba beside him and took in his peaceful sleep. He wasn’t going to wake the other up so he went out the cave via the ceiling exit which he had to uncover, but quickly covered after.
He took in the sight as he breathed the cold air, the sky was clear and the sun was rising. But then he jumped as he heard Kaiba.
‘’Running, are we?’’
‘’Seto, good morning. No, I just..You were sleeping and..’’ Kaiba only walked closer to Yugi ‘’I get it. I see you’re feeling better.’’
‘’Yes.. Thank you very much Seto.’’
‘’Now you will tell me what happened that night’’
‘’I- What? I..can’t..’’
‘’Yugi.’’
’’I won’t. Please...leave. It’s safer for you.’’
’’Oh now you got the guts to send me away? I can’t go anywhere if you recall anything.’’
Then Yugi looked at Seto’s wing. He was right.
‘’Fine, then I’ll leave.’’ and with that he took off the ground and flew, but was stopped by a lighting attack. He looked back at Kaiba on the ground.
‘’Where do you think you’re going? You think I won’t come after you? You think I won’t fly after you?’’
‘’You wouldn’t-’’
And in that second, Kaiba opened his wings and took off the ground, now flying in air. It took all he got to not yell in pain, the pain that came from his right wing, but he wouldn’t take no for an answer and Yugi wouldn’t want him hurt.
‘’F-fine! I’ll tell you, just sit down please!’’
Both landed, and Yugi took in a deep breath. Kaiba waited, his wings resting loosely on the ground as he felt too tired to try and fold the right wing.
‘’I don’t know what it is. But it happens when there’s blizzards. I became aware of this after the forest animals told me what happened. Usually this happens in winter. This is why I told you to stay inside. Also stay there, I’ll come back.’’ Yugi walked farther and dug in the snow with his claws. He pulled his head in and took out a long cloth material that could only belong to humans.
‘’Hmm. And how did you get that?’’
‘’Human raids.’’
‘’Human raids? You do human raids when I’m sleeping?!’’
Now Yugi seemed embarrassed. ‘’Yeah...I’m raiding humans while you sleep.’’
‘’You monster.’’ Kaiba opened his jaw in a slight grin before he hissed as Yugi folded the cloth against Kaiba’s wing, folding it as well.
‘’Oh look who’s talking!’’ Yugi grinned too and seemed relaxed now, as Kaiba didn’t ask further that day about what happened that night. And Kaiba was glad to see Yugi in all his playfulness again. The image of the Yugi in that night was still there, but he knew who Yugi was. Now he knew him completely. And he loved him even more.
And that’s the end! Savage Yugi appears! This time he lures Kaiba in a trap rather then to be direct on the kill. And when he’s savage he’s territorial.
