So, my take on the last years of Doctor Who.

Everyone who follows my blog knows my "interesting" opinion about RTD's Doctor who and more specifically, about 2000s Tennant's Era. But, generally, I think that liking Tenth's era is not bad. Not my cup of tea but who cares? If people like it, more strength to them! This said, I probably did not catch the show at the point at which all the romance and drama would be appellative.

My hot take on this, is that RTD's DW is not actually a good indicator of Doctor Who (and tbh, the same thing happens, to a less extent with Moffat's). So, if you like RTD, you are very likely to not care for a lot of the rest of the show. And again, that's fine! However, this means that that first part of the revival is a completely different show to its 60 year story.

Traditionally, Doctor Who is not a drama show. It's not romance focused. It's science fiction. Don't get me wrong, there's both romance and drama on the original run. Keeper of Traken, Logopolis, Green Death, they all come to mind when i think about Drama. Do you want romance? Let's talk Ian and Barbara, let's talk Jo and Clint. However, none of this themes were slapped in your face like they do on the revival. Because, ultimately, those are not central themes for DW.

The show's core premise, who permeates the entire run is companionship. It's is that change is good and necessary. It is that people change us (for the better and for worse. Hello Sarah?). This show is for the beginning, a journey of discovery for the characters ("my truth is in the stars") and especially, for the Doctor. All companions give something to the Doctor because they are the main character. They are the one who stay, they are the thread that helds this show together. Now, I'm not saying that the Doctor knows everything. He is flawed character, not perfect and he should very much not be.

Twice upon a Time, with all of its flaws, is, in my opinion, the episode who best characterizes what this show is and why I believe it will keep evolving and surviving. Even if it goes through phases in which it turns into completely different shows in the meantime.

And I will keep watching.

oh also. there’s a little ghibli marathon during a film festival next month and i’m wondering if i should go….

#bc either way i’m going to see princess mononoke bc i’ve never seen it before and i think it’ll be fun on a big screen #the marathon tho hmmmmm #it’s on a tuesday for some reason and starts at i think 10.30 #so i think it should finish at idk 4 or 5????#and i have a class at 9.45 that day #i probably won’t go home but maybe i’ll get keys to my sisters apartment and crash on her couch for a few hours or sth #it probably won’t be many ppl bc of the day huh #and it’ll be spirited away howl and mononoke #im not even that big on ghibli but after seeing boy and the heron in the cinema sth changed in me these movies look great like that #i kind of wish they were playing ponyo instead of spirited away but whatever ig #there’s a few other movies i want to see during the festival but idk if i’ll have the money #there’s also a horror marathon including chainsaw massacre and some cronenberg movie i’ve never seen but i don’t think i have it in me to do #2 of those marathons are taxing #i’ll have to check ticket prices again #the longer i think abt it the more i want to do it ngl #i will probably go alone which isn’t ideal for sth like this but oh well #the bigger problem is that i’ve been going to sleep earlier so idk if i’ll last #📓

so it's currently 8.13am, I've been in school for about half an hour, and I'm now realising I don't have a lesson until 2.05pm. that's just under 6hours. I have nothing to do.

#i technically have a lesson at 9.45 (textiles) but its cancelled because of gcse mocks #then i have psychology at 11.05 but thats a tenth lesson which means you dont go to the lesson just do work #which i have done #then i have English at 2.05 #which is an actual lesson what a miracle #and then im staying late till 4pm for a drama thing im doing with yr9 #i could be in bed right now #i am raging #bibliophile-bi

in other news i executed most of my plan (minus the cinnamon rolls) are u proud of me tuals . .

#i did go to the dept office first to talk abt my english class problem thats STILL not resolved #bc u know how mailing them went . n the last 2 or 3 times i tried to visit the office to talk abt it (DURING the opening hours i made sure #of it) . they were closed . 😐#i got there early so i waited until opening hours #then i stood at the door knocking without getting a reply so a lady from another office passing by was like i guess shes not here yet !#so i was like . seems not <3 haha <3 so i waited more #and like u cld argue that i could have waited the ~1h30 i had left until the conference but like #idk i think this will sound like an excuse (bc in part it is . sitting there made me feel bad n nervous) but like its a matter of principle #principles u know . like if they say they open at 9.30 i shld have to wait until 10 for the person to even just Arrive to their office u #u know . like id think differently if she was there n was just busy or smth but she was not THERE #nd like sure i had some time to wait but they shouldnt ASSUME that i do ??#bc like if i actually went to all my classes i think theres no way for me to visit the office during opening hours at all rlly?#so like . 😐 i waited until 9.45 (the 15 minutes if no previous notice rule engrained in my brain) n then left #so thats still not resolved it never will be #but then i went to the library n read until like 10.30 #like when i checked the time for the first time it was 10.22 n so i was like ok ill read one more chapter #(im still reading im glad my mom died so the chapters r short) . n then i headed off to find the room for the conference #n u know what i think i didnt get a lot from it but im glad i went . as said previously the guy was a delight to listen to

anyway i have not had enough sleep tonight

#personal #i don't have work but i have a bunch of annoyingly spread out tasks today #one at 9.45 one at 11 and one at 7 #and i wanted to go out between the 11 o clock task and the 7 o clock task #because i have Errands to run that are best done this week #but i don't know if I'll have the energy #i might need a nap instead #and then i can't run the errands this week -_-#so then I'll have to run them during student season instead #which is much worse #literally 4hr56mins sleep according to fitbit #FML

thinking abt drinking in the dorms again.... literally this yr was so shit lmao

#let me just tell yall. i was stuck w these two NERD (derogatory) who also happen to be extremely annoying #especially one of them. like 2 yrs before that i was sharing a bed w 2 of my closest friends and almost making out w them #and 1 yr before this yr we were rearanging pictures in the common areas #and this year. i had to put up w these two bitches PLAYING PINGPONG while one of them was speaking in a terrible english accent #like my yearly 'getting drunk in the dorms' adventures have just. gone 📉📉📉 and tbh im not even looking forward to this year's😭#the only fun part of this year was that it was 9.45 pm and we decided to go buy alcohol. so we were running around the liquor isle #trying to decide what we wanted. we ended up getting some rly shitty alcohol and a bottle that wasnt even alcoholic.#like that was the highlight of our week without supervisors #this yr there better be some fun(ner) ppl in the dorms or else.#xarraire
