🎵 playlist tag 🎵
i guess im embarrassing myself again because im bored 😁 I was tagged by @depictingdrew thanks!!! 💜 rules: we’re snooping on your playlist. put your entire music library on shuffle and list the first 10 songs that pop up. then choose 10 people! 1. A$AP ROCKY - F**kin' Problems ft. Drake, 2 Chainz, Kendrick Lamar 2. Haley Blais - Small Foreign Faction 3. Hurts - Blind (wow i almost cried, i miss them so much, my favourite band) 4. Beyoncé - 7/11 5. Little Big - Voice of Hell  (i once almost died during their show, slept on the floor in my best friend’s dorm for two hours, spent 3 hours on a bus, went to college, gave a presentation for 5 mins while looking and feeling like shit (got an A tho), then went home...but that was worth it) 6. Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt - Super Rich Kids 7. Lady Gaga - Fashion Of His Love (ugh my icon and a living legend!!) 8. Tony Anderson - Immanuel (i remember taking a taxi home from work because i was super tired, and my driver turned this on, i almost fell asleep and it felt like my soul left my body for good 15 minutes 😁 best taxi ride ever 5/5, very nice lady) 9. Avril Lavigne - Sk8er Boi (classics) 10. t.A.T.u. - я сошла с ума (i guess it’s time for a russian version now..  🤷‍♀️) also, idk why i decided to share some personal stories here but whatever 😁

Marie’s Music Monday
For today’s Music Monday I will be looking at the collision between American and British Hip Hop artists. The collaboration between American recording artist A$AP Rocky and British artist Skepta explicitly showcases the connection between the motherland of Hip Hop, New York and another place which has adopted the sound and culture.
Rap is a sector within the culture of the Hip Hop, this part of Hip Hop can be argued to be one of the more widely known parts of it as it can be seen being incorporated in different genres such as Pop songs and can be seen in other forms such as poetry.
A$AP Rocky is an artist who is known globally for his good looks, fashion sense and more importantly his music, you could say he rose to fame after his collaboration with other notable rappers on his song ‘F**kin’ Problems ft. Drake, 2 Chainz, Kendrick Lamar.’ The song has garnered over 180 million views online due to its lyrics, artists and to some extent the visuals, however I find the collaboration between A$AP Rocky to be one of the more interesting collaborative pieces Rocky has done in his music career.
The music video features a split screen which divides and shows the similarities and differences between the rappers hometowns. On one side the audience is able to see the streets of New York and its inhabitants whilst on the other side of the screen we are able to London in the same way. I found this to be an interesting tool used by the director Dexter Navy as it clearly shows the audience how the culture of Hip Hop and the idea of urbanisation is alive in both places, the only difference is the area code. The people in the music video seem to have similar interests and fashion sense and are all able to come together through their love for the ‘street culture’ and Hip Hop to celebrate such a united song.
