along with the grayscale colouring, Otogi's voice also gets tinny and somewhat faint, like Shizuka is hearing it from an old device a bit far from her

I was a perfect student, all teachers liked me. I was smart and polite and always listening.

However

I didn't like most of the teachers, I was really smart but I always mocked them behind their backs, and I always faked listening. I put my earbuds listening to music while nodding to them occasionally, asking for a repeat of the question if they asked a question to have a chance and lower the volume.

I'm sorry for you my dear teachers. But I never kept a paper you gave, I always made them plane papers or ships or hats.

If i'd watched this earlier in my life i'd have wondered what dull nonsense this was that couldn't keep me up for more than 5 minutes. Now all I want to do is dive into this like the continual camera zooms were beckoning me to. Bathe me forever in this clean, dry, blinkeredly humanist, narrow, art-informed view of history where every thought in mind, action of hand and word from mouth sought the enhancement of humanity's conditions, capacity and environs. An effort here from Rossellini to do the same.
