Week 2 of January 2023 with a lot of hard to swallow pills. • Bread Talk with my business partners @ Megamall after the franchise kick-off • A lesson about healing. I prayed for Tatang’s healing because he’s on coma. This time I’m gradually preparing myself for the worst that could happen. • Siomai re-stocks for my online franchise business • Went on a date with @chamchammateo and had korean ice cream with @lady_deemcee The next night, Tatang passed away. • Darna VTR - I think I needed a diversion for Tatang’s passing not to hurt too much. • Joyride going to condo after taping. Had to make it to condo at 9AM and catch the bus going to Guimba, Nueva Ecija at 11:30AM. • Made it to the province. I was in college when I last went there via bus. See the picture of my Tatang? It’s where my Tatang got injured. • Thank you to our COCVE family, our brothers and sisters in Christ, who visited the wake of our Tatang. Mahal po namin kayo. • A walk going to our future Casa Mateo. We remember Tatang who always goes there to check our land. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to see it for himself but we know he’ll be watching us as he always did. Going home walking, we met people who expressed their condolences to us. There was even a woman who told us that she knows me. Tatang has been telling stories of her apo who’s a Cum Laude and works at ABS-CBN.🥺 • A love letter for Tatang with all my last words for him. A letter I gave him as his casket is being buried. Praying that in the weeks to come, our hearts won’t feel that heavy anymore. https://www.instagram.com/p/CnbgidJOD0_/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

In the Philippines, the media landscape is diverse and reflects the country’s rich cultural heritage and complex social dynamics. The primary types of media include print, broadcast, online, and alternative media, each playing a crucial role in shaping public opinion and disseminating information.
Print media, comprising newspapers and magazines, remains relevant, although it faces challenges from digital platforms. Major newspapers such as Philippine Daily Inquirer and The Philippine Star provide news coverage on national and local issues.
Broadcast media, including television and radio, is immensely popular. Large networks like ABS-CBN and GMA Network dominate the television sector, offering a mix of news, entertainment, and public affairs programming. Radio also thrives in the Philippines, with numerous local stations catering to varied audiences, particularly in rural areas where access to technology may be limited.
Online media has exploded in recent years, with social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter becoming central to information dissemination. This shift has empowered citizens to participate actively in discussions and share their perspectives quickly. However, it has also led to the proliferation of misinformation, making media literacy more essential than ever.
Finally, alternative media outlets, including community radio stations and grassroots platforms, provide marginalized voices an avenue to share their stories and perspectives. These platforms often address issues overlooked by mainstream media, thus enriching the media landscape.
Overall, the Philippine media landscape is vibrant and multi-faceted, playing a critical role in democracy and public discourse despite facing challenges such as censorship and the pressure of sensationalism. As the media continues to evolve, particularly with technological advancements, its influence on society will undoubtedly grow.

Where can we read The Swineherd? (Saan namin mababasa Ang Porkero?) Also, where can we watch Prinsipe Teñoso? (Karagdagan pa, saan namin mapapanood ang Prinsipe Teñoso?)
Svinedrengen - 1
The Swineherd - 1, 2
Principe Teñoso (1942) was a moving picture which screenplay was written by Manuel Conde. It was adapted from a korido (narrative ballad) known back then. From Conde's original script was the screenplay of Johnny Legarda for Prinsipe Teñoso (1954). As far as what is available online, you can reach out to Casa Grande Vintage Filipino Cinema or Sagip Pelikula (also known as ABS-CBN Film Restoration Project) for the 1954 version. Casa Grande Vintage Filipino Cinema scanned the only remaining print of Prinsipe Teñoso (1954) when its color had already faded and had scenes missing. There were also a lot of blemishes like scratches and discoloration. Their copy had 87 minutes. Sagip Pelikula (translates to: save film/moving picture) attempted a digital restoration of the remaining print for a better viewing experience which they livestreamed in the past. Their copy may also include some scenes not present in that Casa Grande Vintage Filipino Cinema's copy even though their copy was incomplete as well.

Navigating the Kaleidoscope: Exploring the Vibrant Spectrum of the Philippines' Media Landscape
In the heart of Southeast Asia, the Philippines unravels a mesmerizing tapestry through its dynamic and vibrant media landscape. This intricate weave of traditional and digital platforms mirrors the diverse essence of the nation, echoing its rich culture, complex history, and societal nuances.
Traditional media stands as a formidable force in the Philippines, with television, radio, and print playing pivotal roles in shaping public opinion. For decades, television has been a constant presence in Filipino households, serving not only as a source of news and entertainment but also as a cultural expression. Networks like ABS-CBN and GMA have been influential architects in shaping the nation's media narrative, producing a myriad of content ranging from gripping teleseryes to compelling news programs that captivate audiences nationwide.
Radio, with its lively morning banter and soulful tunes accompanying daily commutes, remains an intimate and accessible medium connecting people from diverse backgrounds. Despite facing challenges in the digital age, print media retains its significance, with newspapers delivering in-depth analysis and investigative reporting.
The recent surge in digital media consumption in the Philippines can be attributed to the widespread availability of the internet and the explosion of social media platforms. The younger generation, in particular, relies heavily on digital sources for news and entertainment, contributing to the diverse array of voices and perspectives available to the public through online news portals, blogs, and social media influencers.
YouTube has emerged as a focal point for content creators, turning the Philippines into a hotspot for a variety of genres, from travel vlogs showcasing the country's breathtaking landscapes to commentary channels delving into pressing social issues. This democratization of content creation empowers individuals to share their stories and opinions, fostering a more pluralistic media landscape.
While the Philippines' media landscape thrives, it faces challenges, particularly in the realm of press freedom. Concerns regarding censorship and attacks on journalists persist, highlighted by the closure of ABS-CBN, a major television network, in 2020. This event sparked debates surrounding media ownership and the imperative to safeguard the independence of media outlets.
Despite these challenges, the Philippines, with its young and tech-savvy population, stands on the brink of digital media expansion. Podcasts, for example, have gained popularity, providing a platform for in-depth discussions on various topics, contributing to the diverse content landscape.
A notable strength of the Philippines' media landscape lies in its ability to showcase the rich tapestry of Filipino culture. Teleseryes, for instance, delve into local folklore and traditions, weaving narratives that resonate with audiences on a deep cultural level. Independent films further contribute to this cultural portrayal, offering nuanced and authentic insights into Filipino life by exploring social issues and cultural nuances often overlooked in mainstream media.
In conclusion, the Philippines' media landscape is a dynamic and multifaceted tapestry reflecting the nation's history, culture, and societal complexities. From the enduring influence of traditional media to the rapidly evolving digital landscape, the diverse array of voices and perspectives contributes to the vibrant mosaic that is Philippine media. As the industry continues to navigate challenges and seize opportunities, it plays a crucial role in shaping the narrative of a nation with a story as diverse and colorful as its people. In this ever-evolving landscape, the Philippines stands as a testament to the power of media to mirror, influence, and celebrate the multifaceted identity of a nation.

Multimedia Storytelling: Discussion 6.3
One editing mistake that went viral online was seen in this scene from ABS-CBN's teleserye, The Blood Sisters (2018). The teleserye is about the life of identical triplets, all portrayed by Erich Gonzales. In scenes wherein she has to appear in the same frame, two separate shots are edited together to make it seem like she appears simultaneously. However, netizens were quick to notice how the masking of the clips was not done seamlessly, and it was seen that Erich's arm seemed to have shrunk.
I believe that editing mishaps like this affect the overall reception of the show. The ability of the show to establish that Erich is successfully replicated and presented as three different individuals is one of the reasons why audiences are hooked into watching the show. They are somewhat buying the fantasy that three different people are being portrayed, and editing mistakes like this ruin the fantasy for the audience.

FLASH REPORT: Dumagueteña Housemate 'Jasmine Dudley-Scales' eliminated at the 'Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11', leaving Quezon Province saved and 2 Cebuano teams remain safe [#OneNETnewsEXCLUSIVE]
Tumblr media
(Written by Rhayniel Saldasal Calimpong / Freelance News Writer, Online Media Reporter and News Presenter of OneNETnews)
SIBULAN, NEGROS ORIENTAL -- Dumaguete-born housemate named 'Ms. Jasmine Helen Dudley-Scales', or simply known as 'Jas' has now been eliminated for eviction, during the 8th Eviction Night in its competitive social experiment reality show 'Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11' on DWWX-TV 2's Kapamilya Channel: Manila (formerly ABS-CBN) last Saturday night (September 21st, 2024 -- Dumaguete local time).
Battling against from a Quezon province housemate contestant named 'Mr. John Mark Daniel Ibarra', as one of the hosts of 'PBB: Gen 11' revealed the official and final results by 'Ms. Bianca Monica Malasmas Gonzalez' and the voting management bureau of Philippine e-wallet fintech 'Maya'. We obtained the scoop to OneNETnews that who will be saved, and still became a housemate contestant in a later weeks to come.
Previously recalled around last month ago, in between the late-mid, and at end of August 2024, 'Bryan Ruiz' from Bacolod City, Negros Occidental; and 'Mr. Jan Emmanuel Mandal Silva' from Cebu City, part of these selections of the Central Visayas housemates team are both eliminated from the Pinoy Big Brother house in Quezon City, Metro Manila, National Capital Region. While 'Ms. Kaisha Denniel Montinola' and 'Ms. Rain Celmar', both who were female housemate contestants from Cebu City remains safe for the rest of the social experiment reality show.
Now, the results of tonight's weekend eviction was not so good on Saturday night. Jas from Dumaguete City received her final eviction voting score of 23.44% in 3rd place, JM from the Quezon province in 2nd place scored at 36.14%, and 'Ms. Kolette Madelo' from 'General Santos City, South Cotabato' wraps up for a safe housemate with a final tally score of 40.42%.
Before, the eviction voting from Sunday's nomination last weekend on a Philippine fintech e-wallet 'Maya' app will no longer available due to a series of hate comments and death threats, specially targeting one or more of the housemate contestants giving forced or regular eviction, where it all emotionally angry from the trolls and bashers on social media. Only the save voting feature is available until the end of this season. As a result, during a LIVE video streaming at the online mobile e-commerce Lazada's LazLIVE left unmoderated for attacking and failing to manage negative comments in LIVE chats. It is being noted that the housemate contestants are all victims, while the online suspects are from the trolls, bashers and death threats.
This will be addressed immediately by the legal team of the Anti-Cybercrime divisions, in partnership with the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO), and the local cyber police departments (such as Mandaluyong and Cebu) to be cooperating with producers and management of ABS-CBN Studios to have it arrested for this shamefulness cybercriminal act that breaches Free Speech laws such as Cyber Libel, Defamation, etc.
Viewers have hooked online via LIVE video streaming thru 'Kapamilya Online LIVE' on YouTube LIVE (owned by Google's Alphabet) and on national TV via Kapamilya Channel, especially who were tuned in locally on DYMA-TV's Kapamilya Channel: Dumaguete are in grave desperation, in the presence of almost 500,000 LIVE viewers in the Philippines, where Jas is ready to embark the outside world in Negros Oriental.
Jas' journey in the Pinoy Big Brother house has come to an end, leaving the Negrosanon fans in Dumaguete City disappointed. Her latest housemate contestant of this season is undoubtedly the blow to the Western and Central Visayas region, since the weekend eviction happened every Saturday night, following the earlier evictions from two (2) individual regions of Negros Occidental and Cebu.
As she returns to her life outside the PBB house, with a big acknowledgment from the production of ABS-CBN Studios, her fans in Negros Oriental would greet her with open arms, and praise her for participating in this nationally-watched social experiment reality show.

The Babangon Tayo with NESCAFÉ advertisement is a 2-minute video promoting grit, tenacity, and hope in adversity. A montage of Filipinos from various walks of life, including students, teachers, front-line medical workers, farmers, and fishermen, appears in the advertisement. It depicts how they overcome obstacles with the assistance of NESCAFÉ, their ally, and source of strength. "Babangon Tayo" (We Will Rise), the campaign's catchphrase, perfectly captures its mission of motivation and upliftment.
The advertisement's intended audience is Filipinos, particularly those who face challenges and struggles on a daily basis. The advertisement is aimed at a diverse group of people, ranging from young students to working adults, who can identify with the struggles depicted in the video. It seeks to elicit strong emotions in the audience by presenting true stories of tenacity and resilience.
While NESCAFÉ may temporarily energize and comfort drinkers, it is not always healthy. Rather than portraying NESCAFÉ as a health beverage or a panacea for all problems, the advertisement shows it as a source of inspiration and strength. NESCAFÉ consumption is a personal choice, as is how much is consumed.
The advertisement employs no overt media manipulation techniques. To capture the attention of viewers, the advertisement employs emotional appeals and storytelling. The campaign gains credibility and authenticity by utilizing real people and their struggles. Because it uses relatable examples of grit and perseverance, the commercial successfully moves the audience's hearts.
Overall, the messaging and execution of the commercial are both strong. It struck a chord with the Filipino audience and quickly went viral online. Millions of people saw the commercial, which sparked a discussion about perseverance and hope under challenging situations. Some viewers criticized the advertisement for being overly sentimental and exploiting people's difficulties in order to sell a product. On the other hand, some praised the advertisement for its positive message and for emphasizing the Filipino people's tenacity.
The Babangon Tayo with NESCAFÉ commercial exemplifies advertising's uplifting and inspiring power. It demonstrates how corporations can use their platforms to promote noble ideals and encourage social change. Although the advertisement's effectiveness may vary depending on individual perspectives, it undeniably sparked a meaningful conversation about perseverance and hope in the face of adversity.

REGENT FOOD CORPORATIONS LABOR PROTEST
-PRESS RELEASED-
MANILA, Philippines – On November 19, The mayor of Pasig City, urged Regent Foods Corp. on Sunday to reconsider pressing charges against 23 striking workers who were detained earlier this month. He pledged to use all of his resources "to assist these 23 regain as well as preserve their liberty."
Heavy police presence met the workers' peaceful demonstration, and when the police overused force to disperse the protestors, things got out of hand. The employees were subsequently brought into custody and processed at the police station.
The mor of Pasig City purposefully ignores the fact that RFC is not the complainant who brought these criminal charges, RFC did not order their arrest, and RFC did not even take part in the preliminary investigation of these people, yet he still paints RFC as a bad company ready to "put poor and powerless people to jail."
Workers in Regen Food Corps (RFC) are becoming more and more irate because they believe they are being exploited and underpaid, which has led to the labor protest. The workers are requesting that RFC acknowledge their demands and start a conversation to find a resolution.
"RFC may just accept that the Pasig City Administration will unfairly make life difficult for it and its 400-strong workforce, and contemplate simply moving its business elsewhere," Regent said. "This would be a truly painful outcome for a corporation that has now called Pasig City its home for a total of three decades."
Even though the labor dispute "completely stifled" its company, Regent stated that it would protect and reward non-striking staff.
