Not enough of my daughter. Where is my baby girl? Though I do enjoy getting different PoVs. It'll work for a little bit.

Weld is neat. Didn't feel great about him at first but he grew on me. His scene with Vista made me love him. He's a good kid. (He should probably have learned Aegis, Gallant, and Browbeat's names before talking to the team the first time though)

On the note of that scene - THEY HAD A THERAPIST THIS ENTIRE TIME? The Wards had a therapist available to them and no one was having them see said therapist after 3 of their teammates died? Piggot is so bad at this.

I wanted to see more of Parian sooo badly after I first saw her and I'm so fucking glad this is how I see her! Flechette and Parian are wonderful and I hope they get gay married and retire together.

These Slaughter House Nine guys I'm sure won't be a big deal. They won't do horrible things to hundreds of people. Gonna be taken care of by heroes off screen during the next arc. No worries at all!

Vista joined the team when she was 10? The superhero team that has to deal with death on a semi-regular basis and terrifying violence all the time. That team. She joined it when she was TEN?! Shitty system you guys have here!

God I wasn't sure about her chapter at first. She is so mean and I didn't necessarily want to spend a long time in her head watching her be mean. But then my daughter showed up in a swarm of bugs and fucked up a bunch of Nazis and I knew everything was going to be ok.

The instant Shadow Stalker started to follow Skitter I knew she was gonna get fucking wrecked. I don't know why I knew, maybe I just know my daughter well enough. But no matter the reason I was so happy to watch it happen. Wasn't worried for Skitter at any moment cause I knew she was gonna bitch slap this asshole.

Just. Damn I fucking LOVE watching my daughter just be a goddess of bugs and go to town.

I could keep going about Shadow Stalker getting absolutely destroyed for who knows how long, so I'll just have to stop myself.

OK. so this is the worlds most complicated question 4 me aside from "whats your gender and sexuality" (there are no other questions) like.. UGHHH i literally CANNOT answer this without going on a HUMONGOUS essay not kidding. though if i DO it'll be really rambly.. and. not go anywhere really... (guess what?! point of no return V)

Favourite pokemon gen is a VERY difficult question for me. its easier to say my least favourite gen. Which would be gen 8. because it feels just… boring and forgettable in a way that .. no other gen feels? And is honestly a total mess in my opinion, but.. not in the way gen 9 sorta was? Cause while i definitely have a lot of gripes with gen 9, I do think theres a decent amount of positives and stuff to work with, and stuff that WORKS, and things that really stand out. ..compared to how bland gen 8 felt 2 me. And pointing out which gen im neutral about is fairly easy, aka sinnoh. (might need to really replay it and think it over tbh)

(though theres always one thing that complicates this and its like. the remakes? because sometimes i like a main gen game or hate it, and then i have opposite feelings about the remake, so its like. is the remake…. technically the gen of the origi… ok. whatever, this is a whole complication, i think i'll just go with like. whenever i say favourite gen it just means "favourite region" and remakes can count as well (minus gen 4 sorry ur remake was Like That) to make this easier)

And sayign which gens i Like… But don't tend to feel .. TOO much about ? like kanto… gen 1 has sooo much rep and content that its like.. frlg is fun, (and so is its SECOND remake, good lird) but theres not too much 4 me to chew on .. in . a.. deeper sense? aside from blue, red and leaf, personally. It's not bad! But I don't think anybody's really rearing to say gen 1 is undoubtably the best game mechanics.. visual.. story.. or.. anythin wise. it aint BAD.. but its not really.. much more ta me……

(also i'll specify, mechanics/ gameplay are like.. yes theres type additions, ability changes, oh and the split early on and myah myah and some games have gimmicks and other stuff like mounts, and supposedly bw/bw2 is harder [base game, not hard mode]-

The only time gameplay comes up is just. How Much is there to do? yknow? how much content.)

but my feelins on kanto are ironic cause i like johto more. sorryyy! i think johtos just more fun 2 me, partly because silver is SOO personal to me, and what they did with kanto was just a more welcome shakeup 2 me tbh. and i like the sort of feeling parts of it give off, and like. yes theres the big hole of like. team rocket being even MORE of a wet fart in that game than b4. likr sure hgss DEFINITELY gave it an overhaul but it still wasnt .. GREAT… since it was the lowest presence an evil team kind of had (until gen 8.) and while yes, they were trying to contact giovanni, and giovanni .. was.. there .. he just got time travel assassinated.. its still kinda.. eh? and being one of the games with a HUUGE identity crisis in the way that gen 2 is forever stuck to gen 1 in a way… gen 1 isnt? but shrug. I don't really mind it. OH and i love silver in crystal. he's so so funny in crystal, whats wrong with him… and i like the legendary beast stuff! i like it, it feels pretty fucking cool.. and eusines funny. pokemon crystal is so fascinatign 2 me i want to pick it apart with my teeth, i love the aesthetic, the music, everythin. (even if the late grind is HORRIBLE) ..but idk if gen 2 is my favourite. We'll.. get back to this later .

See .. this is kinda where i have 2 now explain a timeline. I KNOW. i know. .. (said through tears) You're just gonna have to sit down with me here because i am so insanely autistic about pokemon. pokemon has been my special interest since i was a tiny pea brained baby. i was literally known purely for pokemon when i was younger because i would NOT shut up about it. (….and here i am writing an unneccesarily long, entire essay. well.) My first game was xy. when i was . uhh .. gosh.. somethin likr… 9? i couldnt finish it because i genuinely couldnt read and got stuck on that furfrou puzzle. i know. its so insanely easy . its unreal. But i gave up. and i didnt have any internet so it stayed that way. for several years. I KNOW. OKAY. leave me alone…

but in the meantime i got oras and. this is when the autism kicked in . severely….. i fucking LOOOVE ORAS . ORAS HEADS LETS GOOO LETS RISE WOOO WOOO IM SOOOOO BIASED. UNREAL-Y BIASED. CRITICAL THINKING DIES HERE WOOOOOHOOOO . and . its a whole thing. i love the way oras looks. its so so so pretty, like. SHOCKINGLY pretty dude. I also really like the weird fusion oras and xy had of like. chibi models, the realistic (? i have no better description 4 this. models used in cutscenes and battles), AND the art. which was definitely unnecessary but i think the eeny weeny models were cute.. Also oras' music. i know its NOT original but i really like the way they remade it. yes the trumpets are almost absent, and some major changes were made to some tracks, which were devisive but honestly? i really like the original soundtrack (because the way rse's soundtrack sounds is really impressive) and the remake is just very lovingly done imo? it just feels nice 2 listen 2…

but . all my.. Current, More Developed Brain Opinions aside. at this point i could read. amazing development. so, i liked lisia. hated brendan. (we had beef.) thought wally was odd but fun, and i REALLY liked zinnia… and of course maxie and archie and their admins too.. and by the way, i liked this game SO much, that i completed the entire pokedex at age 10/11. for fun. so its safe to say i . may like oras. i liked it SO much i then pestered one of my older brothers when he was over to find a tutorial for that segment in xy.. and eventually beat that too. i like gen 6, but i understand a lot of people DONT, and thats understandable. lysandre is SUCH a mess, so are the rivals, but i generally found it charming. though i definitely understand why it was received Very Badly. but xy isnt my favourite.

A few years later, a bit older, when i was then 12.. i played gen 7…. and really liked it. but i dont have too much to SAY about it. (this could honestly be because i didnt replay gen 7 again, having one savefile for my entire playtime. and while i still have an unreal amount of time in usum, i didnt obsessively replay it like i did with oras.) but there's nothing 4 me 2 say that hasnt already been said.. i liked gen 7. completed the dex when i was 12. i liked lillie and gladion and hau, (and i think people either A) dumbed them down way too much, or where excessively critical over hau being. Nice. which….) and team skull.. which is one of my favourite evil teams below magma/aqua, and its definitely one of my favourite gens. but i think… people have said it before but sm had the better story, usum had the better gameplay. usum is JAMMED full of sooo much content its unreal….but i HATE what they did with lusamine. also the ultra recon stuff was kinda … uhh. it was REALLY hyped up in advertising like "oooohhh who are these mysterious people?!?!?" and they just kinda… didnt have a presence??? at all??? like. umm. ok . but i like gen 7. … i like halves of gen 7.

Then . ..gen 8 came out. and uhh. well. I lost a WHOLE lot of faith. cause when it came out almost.. …5 .. years ago .. stars abovr . i got really pissed. cause i HATED IT. i played through it, i wanted to give it a chance, and it was .. fine.. at first. but then i started thinking about it. and thinking about it. and you heard a LOT of things about it at the time. and then i hated it. i hated pokemon . and then i did not touch this game series for the next four years. I heard NEWS about pokemon, but i just kind of grew more spiteful over the years and stuck my head further underground.

Galactik Football season 3 rewatch, eps 1 - 3

Ok I'm finally rewatching s3, thought I'd put up some thoughts like I did for the previous seasons

Episode 1:

Oh boy here we go

Ok right off the bat you can tell the animation isn't motion captured anymore which... yeah it's not as good. But the drop in quality is more noticeable in the 2D animation which was already a bit rough in the earlier seasons

New Micro-Ice voice actor :( No wonder the VA's walked out, the budget for this season was 2 pennies, a shoelace and some gum.

Well since that robo cat was disguised as a real one, I'm guessing there actually are real ones running around?

Mei joining the Shadows is one thing but skipping the training to chill with Sinedd on a beach... she would never. She cares about the team, not just D'jok. She wouldn't do it like this!

tbf D'jok kind of has a point here – disappearing with no good reason and arriving late to the match is irresponsible at that level of play, but it's played as if he's being controlling over her? And no one else is wondering where she went, they just compliment her fit??

Yeah it's not just the animation, the direction is lacking too in the matches but I don't know enough about cinematography and pacing to describe how exactly

Why are they watching this broadcast about Paradisia during half time, hellooo? Did he hijack their satellites or something??

OK so this kind of messes with the lore of the Smog... I just don't think it should be so easy to start using another flux where the key is just... the emotion you're feeling? I mean sure, it was implied the Smog feeds off negative emotions and/or strengthens them but... ach there just needed to be more buildup to this!

And you're telling me NO ONE accidentally used the Smog before? Not even Rocket, when he was about to punch Luur after Tia got injured, but Mei does over some love drama we don't even know the cause of???

The Shadows stadium is so cool btw, the crystal like shapes on the ceiling, the emo colours... chef's kiss

Yeah it's annoying that D'jok is just acting the same way he used to because the writers don't know what to do with him, but again we don't know how long Mei has been acting like this and I would get annoyed too, although blaming her for the loss of the game was too much. Then again she's probably distancing herself from the team because of how he's behaving with her but again, I'm left here trying to speculate how their relationship broke apart because it was all in a timeskip! I shouldn't have to do that!!

I'm not against them breaking up, I can see how their characters can clash but... give me some more buildup god damn it!

And Mei joins the Shadows... ngl she slays in the outfit but... OUGHGHHG ALL THIS JUST IN EPISODE ONE

Also ngl I think the new writers just skimmed the past episodes and thought that 'pretty girl would go for the bad boy' was enough justification for Mei and Sinedd to get together which like, ugh. They've had like one interaction! And it wasn't a nice one!! Hoooow did they start getting closer let alone start dating AAARGGGHH

Episode 2:

I just... don't think Mei would leave the team like that! As I said she cares about all of the Snow Kids, she'd at least tell Tia or something before running off like that and leaving them to find out from a freaking TV broadcast!

Aarch: If I had a nickel for every time one of my players ran off without telling me, I'd have- ah forget it it happened again

It seems kind of dumb to get someone like that when you could get a player who's actually used to playing in the big league. Why not just introduce her earlier as a new up-and-coming player in the Wambas team?

Wonder how much of that comes from the experience of dealing with Sinedd... Artegor might have a soft spot for D'jok considering that “you'll always be a kid from Akillian” conversation in season 2, oouuughh the parallels between those two angry boys that Artegor probably sees himself in!

I also really wish we got to see more interactions between Artegor and Sinedd after Artegor got his mind cleared, would have been weird for Sinedd to have someone looking out for him all of a sudden

Actually, genuinely curious about this: I know this is far more prevalent in the anime spheres since Ash is typically the main character and he has a last name in the dub, so I'm mostly expecting anime fic writers to answer this, but I'm curious. If you ever have to bring up a Pokemon's character's full name, how do you do so?

I mainly ask because I personally do the last option (and pretend only Gary and Professor Oak have a last name) because I feel like it causes the least complications? Like if I used Japanese names for example, we run into issues with characters like Serena, Reggie and Gou whose names are fundamentally the same, only changing spelling if they have to between the dub and the original. And also it brings into question with siblings, such as May and Max and Clemot and Bonnie, whose Japanese name is the family name? Because May Haruka and Max Masato imply they aren't related, but who wins out in this scenario? (Though personally, when it comes to Clemot and Bonnie, I love the idea of their last name being Eureka. Bonnie wins out over Clemot because I think it fits, LOL)

And then making up adjectives is cool and all, and probably the least likely to cause complications? But then I wonder how we're finding the proper adjectives/puns for their names since Ketchum is a play on "catch em" and Sketchit is literally what he does. So when picking out the adjectives, what do we do when you assigned the easy ones first (for example, Brock's being Stone bc rock type gym leader) and then have to think of the harder ones if they appear in your writing? (For example, Zoey, at first glance, doesn't seem like a big issue, but if you look at her JP name for inspiration, Nozomi, it means stone... which is already in use for Brock. But due to her minor role, it might be harder to think of another last name for her, and if you've already written Brock as Brock Stone, would you be willing to retroactively correct that so Zoey has the last name Stone since there's far more material to figure out a proper last name for Brock over Zoey?)

Which is why I like to say from/of location, but even that can be messy because some characters don't have a hometown? Like yeah, Paul from Veilstone City is pretty damn easy to guess, he LIVES there, but like... we saw James' house and its not in a town??? Or a named area? So like... is he just James from Team Rocket? Which is fine... until we consider AUs where he's an ex Team Rocket member. Like... what do we do there?

Idk, I'm just curious about the thoughts on this.

ROUND 1 ANALYSIS: THE #JUPITERSWEEP PHENOMENON

round one of the poke admin showdown is now over and several interesting things happened so i wanted to make an analysis post to. analyse them. because i like looking at numbers

first of all, we have to address the most popular poll of round one. with 111 votes at time of writing, jupiter vs zinzolin is our most voted-in poll by a landslide.

zinzolin never stood a chance. there was a significant period of time where he had exactly one vote and i think that's really funny. meanwhile, known girlboss jupiter has garnered more votes than anyone else in the poll. i want to examine why this happened.

my theory is threefold: part one is that i do not think zinzolin is particularly well-loved by the tumblr community - presumably there are some zinzolin enjoyers out there, as he has 7% of votes (more than a fair few others who are getting swept!), but they're definitely in the minority here.

part two is that it's just kind of a funny matchup. very cool galactic commander jupiter, who i believe is quite beloved, next to. well. zinzolin. you have to admit he is wearing very silly clothes and does some very silly things in the game. of course jupiter wins here, in both the popularity contest and in who would actually win in a fistfight because zinzolin is going nowhere fast in those garments and jupiter is i think probably one of the most likely opponents to just punch a guy directly in the face

this leads into part three: because it's a funny matchup, people picked it up and started sharing it around more, which meant more votes, which made it get funnier, which meant more reblogs, and so the cycle continues. #jupitersweep is powered, at least in part, by the Bit, and i think that's very respectable.

WITH THAT ASIDE !! there are some other things i've noted about round one that i think are interesting

firstly: two entire teams have been eliminated in this first round. the first is the aether foundation, with two representatives: faba and wicke (the latter of which put up a very good fight, which i'll talk about in a minute). the second is team flare, with all five representatives taken out, and two of those (xerosic and aliana) getting severely swept.

the common denominator here is that all of these people are some variety of scientist, and almost all of them have some sort of silly outfit that would be hard to move in. (xerosic specifically is wearing at least somewhat moveable clothes, but this is not going to help him against oleana. sorry.)

the closest fight was proton vs wicke, at 53/47%. this is very interesting to me, as wicke was one of the lowest seeded in the bracket due to her loving personality (i don't think she'd want to punch someone) and remarkably silly outfit (i am a big wicke fan but she's wearing hell garments and you can't tell me those boots are remotely easy to walk in). the second closest fight also involved a rocket executive (petrel vs bryony) and i think that's an interesting pattern

the most one-sided poll, is, interestingly enough, not jupiter vs zinzolin. it's actually courtney vs aliana, with courtney winning at a very impressive 97%. i don't have too much to say about this, i mostly just think it's funny, and i try not to be biased on this blog but you've probably seen this blog's banner. i like it when courtney. i think it's very fitting that she swept so hard.

I'm sooo split about this because my brain was churning every episode of season 4 to figure out how/what Ed was up to and feeling

For a while, when I believed the Outsiders were going to have a role, I thought Ed didn't know. Bart doesn't want to add unnecessary stress to anyone because it's a simple (no it's not) mission! In n out easy peasy! So I thought the Outsiders plot would kick in when Bart's mission went off the rails, that the team would notice and do something to try to find him.

Especially with the ending of Rocket's arc and the beginning of Dick's, I thought there was good chance for the 2nd gen to get involved. I thought Jay realizing Bart isn't home would get Ed involved, or the double date of Jaime, Traci, Tye, and Asami would lead to them getting a notice from either Ed himself or Jay asking where Bart is.

If Ed didn't know, I think he'd be a mess when they get Bart back. I always think it hits way harder when a character faced with a personal betrayal acts opposite to what you may first think. So instead of Ed touching into his hot-headed worry and it coming off more aggressive to Bart's return (and I mean this in a "you idiot I was worried about you! How could you do something stupid like this!" Way where they're more emotional about it before thinking of the other's reasoning) I think Ed just crying and not having the words would be impactful

We've been talking a lot about Ed and the potential for him to have some form of abandonment issues or hating the idea of being alone and people finding you not worthy to stick by. So having Bart missing for weeks with the only lead being the footage Dick and Co uncover, it would seem like Bart just, didn't find Ed important enough to tell. (Which again, sure isn't the case, I think Bart just really didn't want to worry everyone)

So Ed not knowing, and seeing Bart worse off than when he last saw him and he's also slipping into his "speedster" persona (there's a fic and good Tumblr posts that talk about how the way Bart talks once in contact with the League is very reminiscent of his season 2 act), I'd imagine Ed would feel heartbroken firstly. A large wave of emotion, all those worries and doubts coming to the surface and being released. The worry that Bart isn't ok and the doubts of maybe Bart left for good or doesn't think you matter, just dripping off of Ed when he sees him.

They would need a long talk afterward, Ed wouldn't leave his side and would help Bart recover before even beginning to unload his mentality from the previous weeks. Bart would feel so guilty.

Now if Ed was made aware by Bart that he had something he needed to do, I think that's when Ed would react to seeing him again with a bit more anger.

That worry that Bart is leaving Ed for who Ed is, is dampened in his mind by Bart opening up to inform him. So he has the space to feel the aggressive worry of, knowing Bart is doing *something* but not being able to help or do anything about it.

Ed would fret over Bart seeing him again and would make him promise to plan out a backup in case he has something like this again, or let Ed come with him. Ed probably would've felt helpless and with his own sense of guilt as the days of Bart being gone continued and he can't say anything.

Either way, if Bart told Ed about his mission, they'd have a long, long talk afterward about taking more precautions. About how opening up is a good first step, but allowing help is necessary. That Bart shouldn't try to handle all on his own and should plan a backup despite what the Legion warned him of. That Ed is important and it's not that he's lesser, that he matters so much that's why Bart tried to keep him out of it. That Ed doesn't have to worry about Bart leaving him without a word, that Ed is not going to be alone again

I have a lot of thoughts about their relationship and how this thread could continue to season 5 (but with the HBO max n DC controversy and the Jason Spisak stuff....I don't think it's in the works)

I'm late to the gotg 3 convo. I didn't catch the movie while it was in theaters. I was pretty spoiled before recently watching it but still wanted to see for myself. With only the one watch thru there may be scenes I need to see again but for now I would say vol 3 has a few problems with consistency, arcs and explanations that are easy to want to overlook due to the movie ending in a decently optimistic way. That doesn't change that the problems are there. The one that stands out most is Rocket becoming Captain. I don't mind that he becomes the new leader but I do think the idea he would be better than Peter doesn't hold up. We've seen Peter be kind, selfless, grow and make hard choices. He's not perfect but no person is. I think the movie was trying to say his distraction over Gamora was a flaw that made him less worthy but that's not really fair. The way he lost Gamora would devastate anyone. You have to consider he had no idea where 2014 Gamora was and if she was safe or doing well. Any person would struggle under those conditions. We know from past movies that Rocket had anger and hurt he needed to work through for many years over what he experienced and losing his friends. He's so bitter he stole batteries just to cause trouble and that's what lead to some of what we see in vol 3. He's not perfect either. I think Peter could make him Captain without the implications he wasn't good enough at the job.

Mantis needing to move on also stood out. There was nothing in vol 2 or the holiday special hinting at her being unsatisfied doing work as a guardian and wanting to be on her own. I think this goes for everyone. There was nothing that pointed to them being held back by the family and team life they were living. When you think over how most of them weren't around for 5 years it makes it even more difficult to believe they were all over it when it comes to being a team. It's interesting Rocket and Groot got to remain together on the team when the others didn't and I think this was a little forced. Rocket was the only one who had been part of some team for years and years because he had his time with the guardians and then survived the snap to spend time with the Avengers.

The whole snap situation is another flaw in the movie for me. Rocket and Nebula spent all that time with other people and the movie acts like they have no relationships with anyone but the guardians. I saw your post about Gunn saying Rocket doesn't talk to Thor and that's ridiculous in my opinion. Why would Gamora spending 2 plus years with the ravagers make them her real family over being with her sister but those 5 years of relationships with the Avengers mean nothing for Rocket or Nebula. I noticed that Gunn only used that time as a basis for Nebula and Rocket to be close but didn't explore that logically there would be some big changes for both of them that have nothing to do with the guardians.

I am probably in the minority with this last thought but I think if you remove the events of IW and EG vol 3 would still have problems because vol 2 and 3 don't fit together either. Vol 2 has the characters realizing for the first time that they are a family and they are still figuring out what it means to be a team. Going from that to what we get in vol 3 would need more development. Some steps taken work but there are plots and parts of characters arcs that needed to have much earlier discussion and hints so that it felt more natural and not like last minute changes of heart or moments that were put in the movie just to get a particular ending without doing the work. That said IW and EG were major events that did take place and altered the course of the guardians team taking away a member of the family. That needed to be it's own well developed plot for all the characters.

i don't think you're in the minority with that opinion at all! literally one of my first thoughts after watching vol 3 the first time—which was via the imax marathon of all 3 gotg films back to back—is how disjointed it is from vol 1 and 2, in that you honestly can't rly watch all 3 together. but the problem is with how little vol 3 seems to pick up where iw/eg left off for the gotg emotionally, aside from peter grieving gamora (tho there are still major holes in that—like are we just going to ignore peter failing to keep his promise to kill gamora in iw and how that probably affected him?), vol 3 doesn't even feel like it properly follows those films either. it's like vol 3 exists in its own separate void and we're missing something to connect it to eg (neither tlat nor the holiday special rly did this either)

i agree with everything else you said here anon...vol 3 rly pulled an "i pretend i do not see" with a shit ton of stuff that happened to the characters in the years before it takes place, and it just made the viewing experience honestly rly confusing. and even some of vol 3's attempted self-contained stories/arcs still had major holes in terms of a lack of clarity for how the characters got from point a to point b, such as mantis wanting to leave (like you mentioned) and rocket becoming captain

The EASIEST would just to keep everything in Johto, since that's where Yuko is originally from. If she didn't leave to Hoenn, she'd probably have a much harder time climbing the ranks since Hoenn was neutral ground. People didn't know her; they didn't see that upward struggle. They would have just seen this tiny cutthroat lady that gets things DONE. She probably would have clashed a lot more with Lance as well. I think the BIGGEST change is that she would have been a much bigger threat to Giovanni. She may not have been the most popular, but she was a still a proven, EFFECTIVE commander. Had she remained in Johto, there's a very good chance that she would have taken advantage of the location and Giovanni's absences to make herself leader.

how about the other regions?

Kanto? Same business, but also I hate Kanto, so I'm not talking about Kanto. If she had her way, she would oust Giovanni and take over operations entirely

Sinnoh? Very easy at first, but rapidly becomes more difficult as Cynthia inserts herself into the picture. Lance is strong, moreso since Yuko doesn't have any types to combat Dragons, but he's uh... He's not stupid, but he's also not quite the same strategic battler than Cynthia is. Thankfully, Cyrus' upstart with Team Galactic could be a very useful distraction (assuming they don't clash like Aqua and Magma)

Unova? Yeah, she would have a tough time here. Ghetsis may be a c*nt, but his pokemon are strong, and she's not exactly proving his cause wrong. Alder is strong, but he's a lot more lenient than Lance or Cynthia, and more likely it would be Drayden bringing the hammer down. And it would come down hard. But considering how urban and modernized Unova is, it would be very easy to make and keep connections here.

Kalos? She might actually have an easier time here. Team Flare is a bunch of pushover fashionistas, and I have a feeling that Lysandre might be able to be swayed if Yuko has the patience for it. If not, he's not that strong of a trainer, and hey, there's always a nice bullet to the head. Yuko would probably be interested in the Ultimate Weapon as a bargaining chip or as a power source, but she wouldn't use it AS a weapon. She has some standards.

Alola? Difficult for some unusual reasons. She could easily ally with Team Skull, giving them resources and training to turn their punk rebellion into something actually dangerous. The Aether Foundation would be easy to ally with, since Yuko and Lusamine are both shrewd business women and Yuko herself shares an interest in worlds beyond our own. The bigger issue is the lack of connection between islands and the totem pokemon themselves. There are plenty of rare, strong pokemon to be caught, but having to fight for your life in the territory of supernaturally-enhanced pokemon? Not fun. Plus, I doubt the Tapus would approve of their presence and would actively interfere.

Galar? As long as she approaches under the guise of business, she would be fine. Chairman Rose is onto something with utilizing the Dynamax energy for power, and she would be happy to collaborate on that project. Oleana would probably hate her and try to do petty things to get in the way, but otherwise, this one is basically a freebie

I got the best reply the other day on my fic!

I'm glad someone caught the thing with the Azure Flute and plates. Remember how one the team rocket members told her she will be forced to sing? Because Delia kinda IS like an Azure Flute. Her voice carries the same pitch and tone that only pokemon can pick up, especially Arceus. That's a dangerous ability if it were to fall into the wrong hands, say...maybe Volo?

And I'm glad that someone out there likes my portrayal of Delia because a lot of times as I write her, I think she's too out of character. I'm basing her off the anime but also the novelization by Takeshi Shudo (one of the head writers of the anime series). She's very motherly but can also be very young at heart. Very playful. Like in this part of the novel...

So I'm glad there are some people out there who like her in my fic. And yeah she is very badass! It's not easy raising a child on her own with ptsd from her past, losing a spouse, and worrying about said child is going down the same path her husband took that ended his life. Even harder when she has to go along with Ash's denial that his dad has passed on, but probably deep down he knows the harsh truth. Oh and the same organization that she was a part of is also trailing her son. Ugh this poor mother is so strong. Bless her.

Though in a way she does get blessed by Arceus traveling around with him. Even if she's unaware of who he is. And she's crushing on his human form. Haha! I think she'd be so shocked and embarrassed if she found out. Probably even more if she discovered those feelings are reciprocated. But could it work out long term? Who knows. Would be really cute if it did.

Aw man but what would Ash think of a god dating his mother? Somehow I think in his own weird way he'd be happy. Not just because his mom is happy, but imagine step-parent/child bonding by training in battles? Ash's whole team vs Arceus. I think he'd become a very strong trainer with a dad-god challenging him to be his best. Imagine if they teamed up as trainers to take on tournaments? Too cool!

Man and I love writing Cogita. She's one of my new favorite characters in the franchise. We don't see too much of her personality but seeing how she interacts with Volo, she's a witty woman. She doesn't suffer fools. That's why she can banter with Arceus when he neglected their friendship, but still cares about him. She'll be around for the next chapter as Arceus and her discuss Volo, but after that she'll be absent I'm afraid.

Omg I was so scared to add that part to the fic. I didn't know how it would be taken by others reading about Arceus experiencing arousal for the first time and then exploring that in a curious and innocent way. I was like " ummm should I add this? I know it'll add some perspective into his thoughts of his new body..." I still added it anyways but cut down a lot of the original draft of that. It was a bit more lengthy than the published piece. Even had a sketch of that but I'm too embarrassed to post it anywhere. I'm such a perv. XDD;;

One by one I'm converting people into DamosxArceus shippers! It's gonna be a thing even if I'm one of the few writers out there making content for it! I love their relationship whether people see it as platonic or romantic. They had such a special bond that I think gets totally forgotten in the fandom. I don't think that's fair.

I did not realize there were so many events broadly, nor so few Solo events, but I'll try and give a top three of each.  It should be easy enough.

STORY: #3) Baking Buddies - Part of this is my own bias.  I love Dawn and Serena, and having an event focused on both is fantastic.  I also just think it's really cute.  Having the focus be on them helping an NPC confess her feelings is precious, and getting to work in Cheryl and Lillie in a way that's actually meaningful was adorable.

#2) A Golden Future - Yes, I like your boy's event.  It's really strong.  At its most basic level, no MU is nice, and Team Rocket finally taking over as the problem causer is just and proper.  Silver remains a great presence, we get to see all the protagonists, Morty's presentation is great, and the resolution is really satisfying and feels appropriate given what they've built up.  I do feel like just having fake Ho-oh feathers is a bit silly, especially since everyone's freaking out about finding them but they were being sold, but it's a small issue with an otherwise very solid event.

#1) Shining Heart of Dragons - Unquestionably the best story event.  This is some of their best writing.  We get to see Iris as a champion in a way we never did before.  We see her grappling with the fact she's new, inexperienced, and doesn't have much of a following from others.  Her struggling with her own inabilities hits hard, and it's really compelling to see her rise to the challenge.  We get character from Diantha for the first time ever, and she's great.  Seeing her take on this almost mentor role is fantastic, and suits her perfectly.  Even Lance has some great bits, and that's something I thought impossible.  This event is probably my favorite in the game.  It's so good.

SOLO: Why are there so few?

#3) A Sweet Secret - By virtue of there not being many options.  It's cute.  A bunch of random trainers want to get their mentors sweets they'll like, but try to keep it secret while gathering info from the fancy ladies, and the fancy ladies just instantly guess who it's for.  It's cute.

#2) For the Fans - I think Lisia and Elesa are a cool combo, and I like them a lot.  I think...this would be the one where we establish that Hilda has an interest in acting?  Which leads into the PokeWars event, which...wasn't listed anywhere.  Huh.  Anyway, I just like those two.

#1) A Pasio Spectacle - These events tend to be super bare bones, but this one is way too funny to forget.  Like, it's peak comedy for this game, and for that, it's probably my favorite of the solo events that were listed.

LEGENDARY: #3) Pure Hearts and Rainbow Wings - This was so hard to decide on, but I stick with it.  Silver's development is great, and the whole event is just really emotionally satisfying?  Like it's great to see Silver having come this far, and the whole event feels very natural as a progression for him.  Having his care for his friends supercede his desire for power, and having that be what makes Ho-oh recognize him despite all his doubts, is fantastic.

#2) New World Dilemma - I love Cyrus, and I swear to god, the best possible thing they could've done is exactly what they did.  Introduce him to Sophocles so he accidentally makes a friend.  Like, whoever realized that Cyrus was also a shy nerd child once, and therefore would connect instantly with the other shy robotics nerd kid, was a goddamn genius.  This whole event is both emotionally satisfying, and hilarious when you think about it.  It's an absolute crime how badly the Sinnoh Villain Arc dropped the ball here.  I demand something to update this.

#1) Father or Foe - I feel like this is the obvious winner.  Like, there are a lot of good events, but none really hits this hard in terms of examining N's feelings toward the man who raised him, and the struggle between how awful he is and still wanting to have him be a better person.  And having Silver around to parallel that broken family dynamic?  It's so good.  Like, I love Nate's presence, and how emotional he gets over his friend's situation, but there's just something about the added layer of having Nate not understand and insist to N that this is clearly a bad call, and having Silver of all people recognize the struggle and call Nate out that this isn't as clear cut as it seems that just...it hits hard.  All of that culminating in Ghetsis in trouble, and N coming to his rescue, and Ghetsis still being a complete ingrate bastard about it, hammering in that yeah, he is awful and has no desire to change, but you still wanted to see him recognize something good.  It's so strong.  This is the only event that actually left me teary-eyed at one point.  If Lusamine's events had even half this impact, they'd probably be among my favorites too.

BONUS ROUND: I noticed the special costume events weren't listed, and I do like both.  PokeWars is probably over Teatime, but I will admit to being a bit frustrated with the lack of proper resolution.  Still, it's hard carried by how good the character dynamics and developments are.  Hilda's continued development in her love of acting manifesting here, Jasmine getting left behind because of her bulky clothes, Guzma taking on a leadership role for this battle by pushing ahead and how that mirrors Diantha's more guarded approach, everything about Grimsley.  It's so good.

Ideal Formula is really strong.  I like that there's a Team Break member dredging up Team Plasma ideology, and showcasing how N still has his own beliefs, but how they've broken away from what team Plasma used to stand for.  It's good, just not as impactful as the others.

Same with Winter Wishes.  It's good, and I love the presentation of Leon with a flaw, and Nessa having a cute dynamic with Sonia.  But the ultimate resolution doesn't fit well.  Leon deciding "I'll just work even harder to finish early!" is not the proper response, and smacks a bit of being unwilling to say "breaks are important!" and letting him be temporarily vulnerable as a human being.

Give and Take was the contender in the Legendary events.  Sycamore finally confronting Lysandre on his misguided ideals, and out-predicting him to get a decisive win, is exactly what this event needed.  I just don't feel it hits as hard as Silver, despite being really good.

I know Jeremy’s a scout on red but I don’t think he- uh… recognizes me. Heh, what a moron, can’t even remember his own friend.

There’s also the red’s soldier- and I mean look at him! He’s crazy! (But blu’s soldier is crazy as well, so maybe it just comes with the territory of shooting incredibly loud rockets near your ear all day.)

Red’s medic is also insane. To be honest? I don’t think he’s a real doctor. Probably bought one of them fake degrees or somethin’

Plus he’s always behind their heavy, god I hate that guy! He’s always calling me a freakin’ baby. Ooh when I get my hands on that precious gun of his, he will NEVER hear the end of it!

I don’t really think much of the demoman. Every time I see him he’s drunk and holding a bottle of alcohol. My other teammates usually get blown up by his bombs, but personally I’m too fast for that. I mean, he acts a bit weird with the blu soldier around, but it’s probably no big whoop.

Red’s spy stinks, I don’t mean that like metaphorically though, he actually smells terrible. You don’t notice it when you’re in the middle of battle- but that shapeshifter smokes so often you can sometimes just smell the tobacco when he’s around. I tried to scent train my pyro to sniff him out like a dog, but they have a worse sense of smell with that mask on all the time, so that plan didn’t really work.

Red’s engineer is pretty easy to take care of when you got your own spy around. Spy comes n’ saps those machines- then I come in and take everyone out! Machines aren’t so useful anymore when you don’t know how to fend for yourself.

That leaves… red’s pyro.

If you're up for it I desperately need to know more to the story about your OC Linn and what's going on with them with Proton and Bill it's so funny to me that we're both into the same characters in nearly the same way and since I love them and I love shenanigans 👀 spill the tea pls, but it's totally fine if you don't want to I can daydream to anime and vocaloid songs

HI YES i would love to share, let me give you the rundown of their storylines. if you want more on specific things (or if you yourself wanna gush) plz feel free to ask i love talking about it!!!

i almost definitely forgot some details but i think this is a comprehensive basic idea???

(just noticed after writing that it's REALLY long af so i'm gonna put this on a read more sorry ksjdhfk)

so basically it starts off with linn in johto. i haven't decided exactly how but i know linn kept running in with proton who went from needing to take them out (derogatory) to needing to take them out (affectionate). linn decided "why not, he's kinda cute" and the two became a couple with a surprising amount of chemistry

proton tried to get linn to join team rocket (which linn did not want to do because their gym leader father, crasher wake, would probably NOT be a fan of that) but when proton took linn to the hq it's how linn found out they had a godfather (giuseppe) who proton answered to as one of his two bosses (the other being giovanni). we'll remember giuseppe for later

linn and proton, again, got along surprisingly well for their completely opposite lives. linn had completed a good chunk of the dex for sinnoh and hoenn and had received all eight badges from both regions. proton was personally responsible for the mass harvesting of slowpoke tails and had a kill count. somehow these two made it work. although, it did come with linn occasionally having to hide proton from authorities if he was on the run, and a lot of their love life had to stay behind closed doors

there were a few reasons the two of them split. the first was that proton and linn had gotten a little careless with pda and had been spotted by an onlooker who had reported linn as a potential criminal (which was NOT fun to deal with on their end). the second was that their godfather giuseppe did NOT approve of the relationship. out of all four executives, he always liked proton the least. sure, he made money, but the guy was super unhinged and did a lot of extreme crime when all he needed to do was, like, steal shit? the main reason proton's still with team rocket is because he makes a ton of money for the group (and also because if giovanni gets to keep proton, giuseppe can keep jessie & james)

eventually, linn wanted to go explore kanto, so giuseppe personally paid for linn to leave immediately. so linn hopped ship, broke up with proton because turns out he "conveniently" had to stay at his outpost in johto (this was toooootally not a giuseppe move what /s), and made their way across the region

unfortunately, the whole "linn got caught kissing proton and got in trouble because of it" thing meant something in the system had messed with linn's ability to access pokemon, but of course they didn't know about that system, so they trekked down to route 25 and met a delightful guy bill who they fell in love with at literal first sight

(side note i do have a ficlet about them meeting right here)

so bill helped linn get their system back online, gave them an eevee, and the two stay in touch for a while after that. as linn earned some badges, the two talked more and visited each other more often to the point where sometimes linn would take bill to watch them battle (and considering he didn't really battle much if at all, it was an experience for him). linn helped bill get used to battling a bit as well, although he was getting totally sweeped even when linn went easy on him

now, mind you this entire time bill has been getting teased senselessly by lanette and bebe, his pc-admin friends from other regions, ever since in the footnotes of the bug report (from when he met linn) he referred to them as "cute girl". they pushed him to have linn over for dinner more often, or sometimes to stay the night. it's not like he was opposed to the idea, he was just really flustered considering he also was a love at first sight case

meanwhile linn has jessie & james (sent by giuseppe to watch over them) who are teasing them about their little crush on bill and also were big helps for linn's major confession object: a shiny eevee

they bred so many eevees over so much time, none of them thought it would be possible after a while but after what felt like ages a shiny eevee was finally hatched! linn presented the gift to bill on a surprise visit to his cottage, to which he got really REALLY excited to the point where he couldn't NOT give linn a big kiss on the lips. he then knew what he had to do: get linn a luvdisc to show his affections (he heard about the cultural significance from lanette). unfortunately he is not at all used to catching pokemon and had to ask for one via trade instead, but the pokemon eventually got to him and he used it to fully confess to linn

but then here's the final kicker: after months of dating (fun side note, the eevee bill gave linn evolved into an umbreon by now!), bill wants to take linn to see his family.......in JOHTO (specifically goldenrod)

bill had good intentions, he simply wanted to let linn feel more familiar with his life. in fact, linn had considered doing the same and dragging bill to sinnoh to meet their dad and close friends

that being said, linn is hesitant for obvious reasons but agrees anyways because they don't think they'll run into proton in THAT fast.....right?

a quick example would be techno arguing that l'manberg was corrupt because tubbo was given presidency without an election. the reality of the situation was that they were in the middle of a crisis (a war that just came to an end, the death of the president with no one to take his place, and the destruction of the entire nation), so it Wasn't under normal circumstances. l'manberg would've then held elections every couple of months had they not been exploded before that could happen. (there's also the fact that nearly everyone that'd be a part of l'manberg was there and could've voiced their concerns, instead the crowd cheered. they didn't get a ballot but they still expressed their approval).

and of course things that he says about other characters being taken as word of god (him wholesale inventing the character flaw that tommy sees himself as a hero with the theseus speech despite the fact that tommy denied it right then and there. or cc!techno making the joke that tommy's only facing the consequences of his own actions, Twice.)

but more on the topic, there Is a massive tonal difference between techno's viewpoint and everyone else's, and that's completely on purpose ! but that creates some of the worst discourse this fandom has to offer Because techno involves himself in serious lore while still insisting on carrying his non-serious roleplay style.

when you take his word on it and Only his word on it it strips other characters of their nuance because he doesn't see or Care about their motivations or the context behind them. that's why it's so easy to paint the butcher army as purely evil from his perspective. Technoblade doesn't care about releasing withers on l'manberg, Technoblade doesn't care about having shot tubbo, Technoblade doesn't care that quackity is terrified of him, so why should they? why should anyone?

people refuse to see the butcher army as a response to technoblade's actions because technoblade doesn't treat his actions as if they have weight. and so quackity is taken to the fandom alter to be sacrificed as an uncomplicated villain (either alongside tubbo or while painting quackity as a manipulator who coerced the rest of the butcher army), and this Long before las nevadas was a part of the lore.

but then of course, if you look at his actions and attitude from any other perspective (minus philza) he just looks, Cold.

he's bombing l'manberg because of a failed execution and philza's house arrest but he won't even acknowledge that tubbo's execution or his destruction of l'manberg was something that he should've apologized for. he painted tommy as a dehumanizer because tommy chose to stand by his best friend, but techno is risking the lives of people who haven't wronged him without remorse because philza (his best friend) got hurt. he's angry at tommy for betraying him (to the point that he's indifferent to his literal death), when he refused to take tommy seriously over feeling betrayed with tubbo's execution and when He was the one who lied to tommy during their partnership.

he refuses to engage with other characters on an emotional level because that would suck the dumb fun out of his actions (and I don't mean dumb fun as an insult here, I love his roleplay style when it Isn't tonally dissonant from everything around it). but from the other perspective that comes across as indifference to suffering, willful ignorance, hypocrisy, or just outright cruelty.

which just isn't how his character Should be read with how its being acted, but it's the only way To read it in context.

techno wants his character to be the comic relief on the server but he still wants to involve himself with heavy lore, which would still be Possible if he was fine playing a villain (just look at jack and niki with their team rocket arc). but the problem is that he presents his character as emotionally disconnected from everyone around him outside of a select handful of people (and even then, he won't engage with certain things seriously for fear of being pulled into serious lore) while still wanting his character to be read as good (or at least lighter on the gray morality scale).

the solution to this would be a more careful implementation of techno's involvement with the lore. keeping him involved in conflicts in a way where his character doesn't bump elbows with the darkest aspects of the server. either by having him Not involved with things like doomsday or having him involved in a way where he isn't an instigator, Or by technoblade the content creator taking the L and taking his roleplay more seriously when he involves himself in serious lore.

instead we have the insistence that it's not technoblade's fault that people died when he killed them because it doesn't fit with how cc!techno wants to engage with those events.

OK so. this all started bc. a long time ago. i was playing a game as ace where i had a rainbow map and the lens that lets everybody on your team see what you're looking at, right. and i was going around looking for totems and chests and the exit when i realized there was a jane player following me who was pointing at the stuff that was glowing with my map and dancing around all like ‘woah i want that thanks for finding it’. i thought that was rly cute so i moved out of the way to let her open the gates and take down all the totems and have whatever was in the chests whenever she found me. and then the game was over.

But that rly cute interaction just kind of gave me brainworms. afterwards i couldn't stop thinking about how funny it would be to imagine that scenario having dialogue and jane just marching up to ace opening up a chest like ‘hey. Can i have that’ and also how fun and good they would be as a ship if you didn’t look at it like the classic ‘opposites attract’ scenario, and more as if they actually weren't very opposite at all, and were in some ways Very compatible, they just had completely opposite circumstances that made them seem, on the surface, like they were from 2 separate worlds entirely.

like, there’s a handful of janeace content that existed before i got into the dbd fandom, right, and its not Bad?? but it tended to have vibes of ‘this is a stereotypical relationship between a super laid back toxic levels of egotistical manchild and a super uptight prudish nagging woman’, like some sitcom straight people meant to entertain jaded cishet 45 year olds. And i Guess i understand why that’s the obvious trope to apply to the concept of them dating each other. and i Guess i understand why people in the dbd fandom got that impression of them, and decided they Hated shipping them, if it was just going to be nothing but ace being like ‘haha you are so sexy and i am so immature why dont you just be the more responsible one forever’ and jane being like ‘noo stupid man i am so much smarter than you i am le epic girlboss and you are perpetually mentally 25 years old so now i have to be mean to get you to do anything’

its easy to see jane as a flawless queen of everything without a loosey goosey bone in her body, but that ignores things like her painter cosmetic, where her face and hands are Covered in paint and all her brushes tucked into her hair; or the lines in her biography about her early days as a radio host, where she was fired within months for making too many ad libs and being ‘too frank’; or the fact that her rockabilly cosmetic is from an episode of her show... implying she regularly wears costumes on her show. shes literally from new jersey

its easy to see ace as a lazy asshole who only knows how to manipulate people- but that ignores things like his waiter and fisherman cosmetics, where he’s making an earnest effort to earn money doing honest [enough] work, but simply suffers from low self esteem if he feels inadequate and unprepared, and routinely goes back to being a gambler out of convenience.

i’d also like to take the moment to point out how they Both struggle with mental health issues. i think there’s a tendency in the fandom to gloss over a lot of the issues they write jane as having, making her seem perfect and mature and universally appealing with very few flaws, And a tendency to act like ace’s issues are all there is to him, someone who contributes so little and takes up so much space that it’s hysterical- which does them both a disservice, especially for My intents and purposes of saying wow both of these characters only get by running on alternating manic and depressive episodes. clearly aces entire life is centered around having addictive personality disorder and being in relationships that are toxic for him- in his lore, ace is encouraged to put himself in an extremely dangerous situation by a friend who is amused by watching him embarrass himself, and we get the idea that ace socializes with people entirely on a metric of ‘is this person impressed by how cool i seem when i win’ and ‘is this person just really into watching me lose because its funny and entertaining’, which he might not even be aware of.

clearly jane.... janes entire story is about her childhood trauma. Like i dont want to just have to retype her entire biography and also her tome lore but, in summation, her entire story is about the pressure of the life she had built as a reaction to her childhood trauma and how Even if she hadn’t gotten fognapped, she was likely heading towards a meltdown spiral from taking on too much work, getting too wrapped up in peoples perceptions of her, and becoming obsessed with gaining more influence, to the point of being willing to sell out completely in order to get even a Little bit closer to her audience Really Understanding how much she’s a normal person desperate for people to relate to her pain.

So Now Think About It. they're both among the more charismatic extroverts of the survivors, their livelihoods Both rely on being able to have a good conversation with people and build a really iron clad rapport in a really short amount of time, they both aspire to be sort of fancy and rich and get a lot of attention and clout And, for Both of them, this desire for that sort of life started early in childhood, dreaming about escaping poverty and preconceived notions of who they were. they both have multiple bits of flavortext in game about being naturally optimistic and seeking to share that hopeful attitude with their friends, so i also think jane's method of interacting with people is something that would, like ace's method of interacting with people, not always land.

‘but sunday, she’s an insanely famous self help talk show host!! how could she be Bad at socializing with normal, average, not-famous peons???’ would You want an insanely famous self help talk show host grabbing you by the shoulders just to be like 'dont worry, It gets better :^)' while your leg was caught in a bear trap and you were having your fingers sliced off and your heart ripped out?? and some dudes taking pictures of it?? probably not. People who would be into that are likely in the minority. but you know who Is in that minority???? Ace.

imagine if after Weeks/Months/Years?? of terrifying trials where everyone is getting ripped apart and fangoriously devoured or w/e, jane is Still trying to be helpful in the only way she knows how to her new friends, but they’re all Less than receptive to it. bc you think people like feng min and jake and david, all these tired ass antisocial introverts, want to keep hearing ‘dont worry we can do this’ over and over and over again, every single time this happens??? probably not. at some point they would probably be like ‘wow, jane, that’s great, but im actually? Tired of dying over and over again, and what you’re saying is Not helpful right now’. even her fellow celebrities, like kate and yun-jin and felix, or even just other more sociable and positive types, like meg and claudette and adam, might get really tired of hearing stuff like that as they get shredded up for the 39480459th time.

but it’s the thing that occurs most naturally to jane to do for people when they’re upset. she’s spent Years putting all of her time and money and self worth in being able to do this and watching it make a meaningful impact on people!!! And she’s spent years being validated in her sense of self relying on being that type of parasocial icon for people!!! so how is she going to make it in the fog without getting her heart broken and sent to the void where hopeless survivors go if she cant do the one thing she’s best at??

but then maybe it finally comes down to just her and ace as the last two survivors one night, after getting progressively lonelier and lonelier for what feels like forever, realizing that her Love Language is somewhat inert here, and when she works up the nerve to pull the ‘hey, it’s gonna be fine, we can get out of here’ card on Him??

it finally Works. he smiles back at her and says ‘yeah, youre right!!’ because he is Also a tireless optimist who doesnt believe in bad luck and sees a silver lining to every situation. he’s the guy who is perpetually smiling in order to make sure there’s always at least One person who hasn’t given up hope yet, and knows the value in holding out just long enough to be absolutely sure there’s no possible way to turn things around. he will never pass up the opportunity to look at a bad situation that way- he’s a gambler, the idea of a potential payout for taking that slim of a chance is one of the only things in life he cares about. AND SHE CAN WORK WITH THAT

so the most hilarious thing in the world to me would be if one of the first few times they ever actually speak to each other by the campfire after a trial, everyone is sort of looking around like ohhh god this is gonna be weird, he’s such a little weirdo and she’s so poised and normal

but it Actually isnt weird. for better or for worse, ace is good enough at reading people- and knows well enough just how much power jane has- AND DOESNT WANT TO GET THE SHIT BEAT OUT OF HIM BY A FAMOUS GIRL AGAIN- that he manages to be not a complete loser around her, mostly. she Also has to tap into her ‘talking to normal people’ skills in order to communicate with him initially as well, but even thats just something that would sort of sweeten the deal for her. i’m not under the impression he’d know a whole ton about her before encountering her in the entitys realm, so there’s not even as much pressure in interacting with him as there is with someone who i can easily see being a jane romero show stan before the events of the game, like yun-jin or meg, who she loves and would be friends with, but also still feels a bit obligated to be really put together around, for her images sake. so for her, there’s a bit of relief in making friends with such a comparatively average person, and for him, it’s cool that she even wants to talk to him, and a bit humbling that he can no longer claim to have the most bravado and largest presence out of anyone in the fog.

this isnt to say that they dont have their differences- obviously, she’s a hard worker who wants to come off as entirely self reliant and tireless, and he’s a self professed mooch who wants to just manipulate his way into success without actually applying himself unless it’s easy and fun and makes him look very sexy and cool- but i don’t think thats something that would completely kill their chances of getting along and having a successful relationship. they are adults. they can work it out

in fact its probably for the best that jane has such a well developed sense of self worth, so that when ace fucks up and says something tactless because he’s being a little clown creature, she can swiftly, easily disarm him into taking it back and informing him that he can’t say shit like that, rather than get her feelings hurt or just assume there was nothing to be done about it, like i think a lot of other survivors would do *cough felix cough*. He needs someone who can nip his antics in the bud instead of enabling him. and where anyone else doing that might kind of bug him, in this fantasy universe i have created where i get to dictate how all fictional characters act, it makes sense to me that he would defer to her judgement.

[this is a good a time as any to say I dont fuck with 'ace is unironically sexist' headcanons or whatever, i want him to have moved Past whatever the hell was going on in his tome, as that was Meant to be a painful experience in his past that he’s still hung up over as being one of the worst times of his life, NOT an accurate snapshot of who he Currently is in the game!!! so i dont mean he’s saying and doing Genuinely Problematic things to her or anyone else on a regular basis... he can just be kind of weird and careless]

i like imagining that since she has the status and wealth and influence that he could only Dream of having, its a bit of a ‘whatever she says goes’ situation when she suggests slight changes to his behaviour, within reason. On this note, from the Other side of the fence, jane could eventually have an issue with trying to tailor his personality Too much to her liking- her bio literally says she ‘needed more; she wanted others to follow in her footsteps’, so its easy to imagine there might need to be not just boundaries around reining in his behavior, but boundaries around her tendencies to want to control his behavior in the first place. even their flaws are compatible!!!!!! its nice for me to imagine that there would be plenty of scenarios where jane is the one getting spun out mentally and ace has to be the one to ground her, since at the end of the day, she’s just a normal person caught up in the relentless perfectionism of showbusiness. that their relationship isnt just ‘selfless perfect hot girl fixes stupid washed up scrimblo mans life’, because they Both have valuable things to tell each other and perspectives the other sorely needed. and because honestly??? jane is less content in her life than ace is in his!!! again, on a surface level, it’s easy to see them and think he’s the problem and she’s the problem solver, but its way more complicated than that.

a lot of how i think about them takes place in a post-fog environment- if we’re meant to believe that the survivors in the game will get out eventually, that means we’re invited to consider how they would make it back in the real world. and maybe jane would take this time to say. ‘Well, i can’t really afford mentally to be everyone’s best friend on the tv with a million clothing lines and makeup products any more, now that everyone saw my funeral and all. maybe i should set my sights a little lower and try to just take it one day at a time’. and maybe ace would take this time to say. ‘well that whole experience just taught me a whole lot about what it’s like to care about other people for once. and the idea of being in a casino or bar right now is extremely overwhelming and bad. but What Else am i supposed to do???’ and that’s when they can move in together and she can see what its like to try Less hard and he can see what its like to Try for anything at all even a little bit. it is extremely endearing to me to imagine, like, jane at home painting or writing, and maybe ace has his 2nd or 3rd ever little part time job for underachievers, like being a bartender or waiter, and when he gets home shes there to be like ‘wow you did it im so glad you finally learned to be a relatively productive member of society, i know its your least favorite thing ever but it means a lot to me that you arent fully reliant on all my money also i dont care if you still do gamble shit every once in a while because clearly thats just What Brings You Joy so have fun doing that on your days off still’.

OR!!! flip it turnways: she Does go back to being a tv personality, or writer, maybe talking about what it is she just went through, and needs to come home after the strain of being on tv and dealing with media industry people all day [which was already extremely bad for her, her bio describes her regularly getting migraines after filming] to someone who actually understands the fog and believes her and was there, and spent his day making sure the bed is made and the floor is vacuumed and dinner is ready for her. and you know who can do that??? be a little stay at home himbo wearing expensive pajamas and embroidered slippers, loading the dishwasher while blasting jazz for slutty old men on an expensive sound system in a luxury new york penthouse???
