sorry for rambling if you already knew this lol but american catholic schools have a rich history with basketball. in the early 20th century, a bunch of inner city catholic schools were opened specifically to serve working class/immigrant catholics who couldn't get into other schools. basketball was both incredibly cheap and able to be played in limited space, so it became a staple at these underfunded schools, as well as CYOs (catholic youth organizations, it's basically an equivalent to the predominantly protestant YMCAs). to this day, catholic schools and colleges have some of the best basketball programs in the country. all this to say: nuns (and priests) playing basketball is not only a delightful image but also reflective of class politics. those ladies were shooting hoops in the name of the marginalized! they were sinking 3s for the lord!!!

lost so much respect when one of my A level literature teachers said Jekyll could be interpreted as "Je kill" as in french for "I" and then english for "kill".............. like.... bitch.......... even if the author intended that i simply no longer want anything to do with either of you....... apparently this is "a common interpretation" but I just think it's such corny surface level analysis.

also her "favourite play of all time" was dancing at lughnasa which just seems like an insanely boring choice to me...... like girl.... shakespeare exists....... there are so many fun plays that aren't pasty grey autobiographical schlock about growing up as a completely ordinary and unremarkable person...... hello.....

OCtober Day #5 - Redesigned OC

This is Kendall! I redesigned him by turning him into a lesbian lmfao

Kendall was originally 'the protagonist' back when I created him, but I found I had trouble relating to him or making him interesting, so I hit him with the lezzo beam 👌

In their current iteration, Kendall is the 'mysterious bad boy' who originally played for a different netball team. When Shimamura recruits them, Kendall and Gummy become rivals, since Kendall takes over Shimamura's preferred positions (goalkeep and goal shooter).

I'm definitely still working on Kendall's current iteration. Right now I use all pronouns interchangeably for them, which is usually a sign for me that I haven't quite pinned down a character's personality yet. Current Kendall is definitely more than 'a girl' though, so who knows 👀
