Okay so Twinkle Kuuchuusen is AMAZING (as expected and I will try to gather my thoughts about it later), but THE SOLOS OH MY GOD THE SOLOS AND THE LYRICS I'M!!!

They both reference 2x2 a lot, and you can see their development so much from their previous solos! There's a big theme of acceptance and both and they're driving me crazy with it!

Hinata's '"street" being bathed in blue and how he accepts it as a part of himself before declaring he's going to light it up with colors because he'll love himself even more!!! The way he doesn't try to gloss over the negative but decides he'll stick to his positive worldview while taking everything in stride! How he knows now that no matter how far they drift their hearts will always reconnect!

And Yuta walking the line between two worlds confidently, not looking back into the shadow of days past and pushing ahead into the unknown! Going all out and no longer suppressing his feelings, engraving them into his heart and making bold decisions as himself! The way he connects their worldviews with their differing light, knowing someone will always be at his back no matter what!

If there was ever any doubt within me about the future of 2wink, I feel like these solos resolved it. They really have come to a temporary truce and peace with each other, they'll stay together while continuing to push and compete in their separate ways. These songs feel like letters to each other almost, about how they're able to move forward with their own worldviews without shame, but will always hold the other close. And even if they do come to that breaking point in the future, after the dust has settled, they'll still be there watching the night sky - in a much better place than where they started.

So anyway can we talk about the fact that Yuta feels left behind by everyone since no matter how hard he tries, he's still seen as the shadow of Hinata. Meanwhile Hinata feels that Yuta is growing and maturing too quickly so he's the one that feels left behind by him.

Yuta is being left behind by everyone but Hinata is being left behind by Yuta.

One of them needs to detach from the other, however the other needs to be held close. The happiness of one is dependant of the suffering from the other. this is not going great

i think a huge part of what made parallel world so good is that all climax events have had major npc interference, and ra*bits already had bishoujo-senpai as an established important npc that had influenced unit decisions going as far back as 2017, so it didn't feel as out of the blue even if akira also used this event to push his own idol industry troubles vr mental gymnastics because it's just what he likes doing

kohayuta monster parallels. inescapable fate (being a killer, being a twin) that weighs on them to the point they feel like they're going to break. but there's no way out, there's no escape, they're not the only ones in this (madara and hinata parallels: coming soon). they have to be strong, they have to put on an act, because they're being depended on and they have to keep up the status quo they HAVE to fit in. so they go out into society and hang out with friends and play the part of a Perfectly Normal Person. but at the end of the day they each look in the mirror and see only masks. are they what fate has decided for them, or are they more than that? everyday is a struggle to decide. their reflections grow foggier and foggier.

never be sorry for rambling in my tags ur so right for this. i know a lot of people have gripes with the ss arcs for like the dumb major plot points they're supposed to hit but i think if you just take them as explorations of unit dynamics they're still really good at that aspect. like 2wink and undead both had to confront a lot of their issues here what with adonis speaking up a lot more and being more active within undead's activities here than he was in nightless city live (i have not read many undead stories so i cannot comment too much on them but he does seem to be very down on himself a lot and it was nice to see him branching out finally because rei was having to do his own introspection about the situation and also was unable to communicate regularly) + what you said in ur tags. and for 2wink having them separated and yuta trying to take control is very. telling on his part the types of plans he wanted to commit to and the ones hinata wanted and how that just highlights how differently they see the world. hinata wants to choose to be kind despite everything and yuta is focused on advancing his position in life after feeling slighted for his circumstances at birth and while neither of them are necessarily wrong on their feelings and why they came about, its certainly going to create conflict when hinata wants to help undead and yuta wants them eliminated because he sees them as a threat to their own status in the competition. etc etc its getting late and i need to go to bed so. take this

i think the reason sandstorm works so well is that while it has the usual crazy ss high stakes plot(looks at rei secret order) it revolves much more around the characters dynamics. and oh boy do undead and 2wink have alot of history to work with (setsubun haunting every story). everyone's Miserable and we see their flaws much more exaggeratedly than normal, ranging in intensity from koga snapping at adonis to yuutas Villan Era. and its them letting out their frustrations in a very painful and hurtful and realistic for their characters way!(esp yuuta). one of my favorite es!! stories probably

Okay so like. I don't talk about this much (or like, at all), but 2wink were my first Enstars loves.

Play Tag was the song that got me into Enstars. Setsubun was the first event I ever read, even before I started Music. Hinata was my first 5-star, and Yuta was my first favorite.

And while I may not think about them as much anymore, that mv absolutely WRECKED ME and I am so excited and scared for their climax event.
