"My topic is Mesoamerican Futurism. My goal for writing this piece is to highlight art created by Latinos featuring Indigenous cultures in futuristic worlds. I want people to know that there is no ideal futurism. The futurisms popularized in media do not reflect everyone’s; representation is needed. I want to inspire the Latinos reading this to be curious about their land's history, and origins, and create amazing things.

First, I would like to acknowledge Afrofuturism, a term created by Mark Dery in 1994. Afrofuturism seeks to remove the race-power imbalance and bring forward the history of African descendants while creating a new future centering on their culture.¹ Afrofuturism was my introduction to a futurism centered on people of color. This made me wonder about the different cultures around the world and what their futurisms might look like. Some that stood out to me the most were the ancient civilizations that existed in Mexico and Central America before the Spanish conquest. What might their future look like? What technology would be developed?"

Da shadowrun gang invoked a blood mage's ire. As a favor for a friend, Harlan got his squad to agree to some pro-bono work: Transport a dead body currently inhabited by a corpse spirit that thinks it's the lady who the body belonged to.

Said friend managed to interrupt the blood mage's ritual to bind it for whatever nefarious means he had in mind. The destination was a conjurer outside of LA who would know how to safely dispose of a Force 14 corpse spirit.

One blood spirit, one bone spirit, 4 crashed Aztech SUVs, 1 Garuda cluster missile, and the squad found themselves at an impasse, surrounded by physical barriers, a VTOL, a blood mage, 8 goons and 4 mages.

They could've given the spirit up, the offer was 100k nuyen, but it didn't even enter anybody's mind. Phantom, the face, had a gambit up his sleeve. Without letting "Maria" come to the realization that she was a corpse spirit, he spun a tale about her awakened during the ritual she was sacrificed for. Like that, she absorbed the life force of 8 Aztech goons, which solidified Phantom's next threatening words: We have control over the spirit, leave or you'll be next.

We might've gotten on a blood mage's shit list, but there's one less corpse spirit being in LA, and that's payment enough for all the stress. The gang did get a dram of orichalcum they never asked for, though, so maybe it pays to be kind.

Aztech has a unique scale gene that causes their scales to split Into individual plates. It can get worse with age and become uncomfortable but is semi-treatable. It is viewed similarly to large birthmarks on humans. ie, rare but not unattractive.

note, incredibly tall with high metabolism makes them look malnourished.
