Shashwati runs a hand through her hair and closes her eyes, feeling the soft breeze in the balcony of her room. Kal Chaudhvi Ki Raat thi plays in her phone, almost a murmur of a breath while she plays with her anklets, the day's stress slowly leaving her.

The silder door opens behind her and Shashwati doesn't open her eyes, not even after she feels her husband sitting beside her, a respectable distance maintained.

"Wife." Amrit says in greeting, sounding amused. Perhaps he is, he's definitely seen her sitting like this on their balcony way too much after a long day.

Shashwati opens one eye and looks at him, changed into a comfortable tshirt and sweats, finally. She quietly greets back,"Husband."

"If I didn't know better, I'd say you love Jagjit Singh more than me."

Shashwati snorts. "I definitely love him better than you." She opens her eyes and turns her head to look at him. "How was your day?"

"Hectic. I despise signing events more than I despise deadlines." He says, propping his feet up on the small coffee table in the balcony that Shashwati got after their marriage, seeing as how many nights her husband spent in the balcony, pouring over his novel and writing it continuously. "How was your day?'

Shashwati shrugs,"Same old. It's going to be valentine's day in a couple of days so I did see a decrease in the attendees of the class, but honestly, whatever. Good for me. I get to relax and teach easily."

"Relax while teaching criminal psychology, do you?" He grins at her cheerfully, very proud of himself for the poke.

Shashwati raises her eyebrows in a taunt,"I'm sorry, which one of us is a romance author and yet had an arranged marriage, husband?"

"Ouch!" He says with a dry grin,"And unless you were already in love with me when I first came to see you, did you not also have an arranged marriage, wife?"

"A criminal psychology teacher having an arranged marriage is expected, Singh ji. A romance author, though? Nope. Kisi ko pata nahi paye kya?"

Amrit laughs and steals a sip from Shashwati's coffee. He makes a face at how bitter it must taste and Shashwati snorts.

"Ab aap jaisi koi agar aise hi Bina mehnat mil Jaye toh kisi ko patane ke zulm kyu uthaye koi?"

Shashwati shakes her head and laughs,"Seedha seedha bol dijiye na ki aalas thi aapko."

So the interesting thing about writing my second draft is I’m really just letting myself write. My word count for draft 1 is very low (it’s just under 25,000 words) so I’m letting myself just go for it. Aala is a very introspective character and I love writing descriptions of emotions and behaviour so I’m just letting myself do that and it’s really fun.

Also, I’m letting myself add in more worldbuilding details and I am so excited to get to the scenes that actually take place on Ocera because then I can get into some of the details I made for Aala’s culture. I can’t go into everything I’ve made but that’s fine, I make more than I need so that I can give more details later if needed and because worldbuilding is the love of my life. I plan on doing a finaalin lore post one day so I can explain all about them but idk when I’ll do it.

First thing to know about me as a writer is that worldbuilding is my favourite, especially making biology and cultures.

Anyway, I’ll be doing a post soon on the main cast of Tides of Change soon I just need to proofread it.

Hey aala! What do you do when you get stressed seeing that what's in your mind isn't exactly that in writing and you don't know what to do?

idk if anyone else does this, but when I was a kid I was really interested in being in IT, so I had gone to a bunch of different tech companies to check how the working conditions were, etc etc. But I remember in one place they told me the rubber ducky method, where they would keep a rubber duck by their desk and they would talk out loud to it when they had an issue, and didn't want to or couldn't talk to a person about it. Around the same time I actually went to Sweden to my uncle's house, and there was this claw machine that let you keep playing until you caught something. That particular claw machine actually had a duck in it, and that's what I used for a while when I had trouble. I've since switched it out every couple years; I either talk to my goose plush or my moose plush. Talking out loud about an issue can solve it pretty fast!

Other than that, I will cry and scream to my best buds, and they'll tell me whether a particular concept seems good, if how I wrote it is fine, etc!

Most of the time, if I don't like what I've written, I keep it as it is, review it a few times with others, and then go back on it. I don't immediately delete it, because if I found it good enough to write it down once, it is good enough to keep it awhile, hehe.

Hope this answered pretty well! I'll keep a blind eye toyour crimes just this once because of the good question.
