Sometimes I see posts wondering if Patroclus and Hyacinthus would be friends in the afterlife.
And I want to assure you that no. They would absolutely not be. Why would Patroclus and Achilles be fond of one of the best-beloved of Apollo, the god who played a most direct hand in both their deaths?
Don’t get me wrong I see the parallels. But still absolutely not.
I do think Hyacinthus chills with Adonis. In some myths, Apollo is listed as one of Adonis’ lovers. I think out of the three, Apollo would have been the one to give that mortal the most freedom, the most room to breathe.
Similarly, in his courtship of Hyacinthus, Apollo took him to new places and taught him new things.
I think if there is anyone who could really appreciate what this means, it would be the two of them. So. Adonis and Hyacinthus are friends in death. But Patroclus and Hyacinthus would absolutely throw hands because they’re both slightly unhinged and very much in love.

all I’m asking is for one of you bitches to write a best selling novel with enough cold/sneeze scenes for it to be horny and sexy to this community but wouldn’t make a vanilla suspicious. oh and i want it to be fantasy and a love triangle thank youuuuuuu

What if instead of Patroclus’ ghost hugging/holding him back when Achilles goes on a murder rampage, it’s Patroclus’ ghost guiding the spear

Might be random and questionably-out-of-plot even but erm i was reading your asklepios au stuff and thought hey Will and Nico's relationship is giving Apollo and Daphne if you'd like that mental in your head. (Let me eat the sun child)
hmm would like to hear more on that. apart from trials of apollo i've only encountered the myth of apollo and daphne in ovid's metamorphoses which paints it in a dissimilar light. to me this is more of an orpheus and eurydice situation or an iliad book 23 achilles and patroclus situation

The Song of Achilles, spoiler? Fanart below. Tw dead body, stab wounds, bad handwriting, and tears.
The quote in the picture above:
“Achilles weeps. He cradles me, and will not eat, nor speak a word other than my name. I see his face as if through water, as a fish sees the sun. His tears fall, but I cannot wipe them away. This is my element now, the half-life of the unburied spirit.” ~ The Song of Achilles, chapter 31.

Tfw when you see a heartwrenchingly beautiful post, cry a lot, add it to the queue, proceed to forget about it; then you see it again once it's posted and you sob all over again

realizing that when patroclus' ghost appears to achilles in iliad 23 to complain that he's been left unburied it hasn't even been 36 hours since he died. achilles kills hector the day after patroclus dies and cremates patroclus the day after that. how quickly was he *supposed* to hold the funeral, to keep with custom and from angering the dead?

ok not that i’ve been thinking about this for days or anything but patroclus’ purpose is not to die, it’s to be loved in a way that even death cannot touch, so jot that down….

Thigh Worship
Hmm....
Hmmm...!
Sooo... Was it actual kisses on Patroclus’ thighs or the other type of... “kissing” his thighs, Achilles? Hm? Both? Probably both, right?

It does not matter how many times I hear that the song of achilles is a great book, I am too insane about the iliad to bring myself to read it
