Retinol is a superstar ingredient when it comes to transforming and rejuvenating the skin. It works its magic by accelerating the skin cell turnover process, which means that it helps shed dead skin cells more efficiently. By doing so, it unclogs pores, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and evens out skin tone. Additionally, retinol stimulates the production of collagen, a protein that gives our skin its firmness and elasticity. This boost in collagen production helps to plump up the skin, making it appear smoother and more youthful. In a nutshell, retinol is like a superhero for our skin, working tirelessly to achieve clear, firm, and healthy skin.

Aaaahhhh I’m so happy
I’ve struggled with acne for years (mild but very persistent), have had a good skincare routine for like 3 years but it still didn’t go away, went on antibiotics which helped but as soon as i stopped the acne got back 10 times worse. So eventually my derm decided to put me on accutane.
I’ve been taking it for like half a year now, took a while to notice a difference but now my skin is completely clear! Only side effect is super dry lips but i can live with that.
ANYWAYS, TO THE POINT:
A girl in my group for a teamwork randomly said to me: “wow your skin is so smooth and clear, it’s so pretty!”
I’m literally almost crying. I’ve been so insecure about my skin for years and this is the first time I’ve ever had a compliment on it 🥹

I FUCKING HATE ACNE
Why do i have to take these dumb pills and apply like three-Four creames my doctor gave me?!!??!,!:71727:)2)
THERES SIDE EFFECTS OF THESE STUPID PILLS WHY?
It feels so wrong to take something that maybe will give side effects like your body doesn’t want it. Like your body is telling you to stop.
I know there’s a bunch of people who don’t have acne and who don’t have to do all these things to feel beautiful, and I’m jealous of them.
It feels so wrong to have to take these things just to get rid of stupid acne.
I’m angry and i just needed to rant tbh.

I wish I could molt
Especially around my period ?!? Like my skin is oily and hot, I can feel every individual pimple that forms and none of my clothes feel comfortable.
Like that stupid prank that women do to their boyfriends?? Where they peel their skin and say it’s a part of menstruation?? I wish that actually happened.
Let me molt like a spider 😤

Okay i mean sometimes my mom knows full well that I have an acne problem and that I can't stand the thought of someone seeing me even slightly unconvered in a romantic setting bc I've seen so many people go "acne is so antiaesthetic" surprisingly more times for girls/femme presenting people than boys/male presenting people and it's getting a LOT on my nerves.
Not only no one my age is interested in approaching me irl for a date and not just find a place to fuck, they'll also run at the sight of the scars and the only thing she can say to me is: "don't treat it medically bc those meds are going to be terrible for your health. I had acne until I was 42."
Excuse me but I'm pushing ppl away bc of that fear, I'm not even allowing myself the distraction of sex just bc of that thing, so forgive me if I'm saying that this is terrible for my health enough already. When you were young, it was more tolerated, and it kind of isn't now. When the closest you've ever come to caring for a person that's not family says offhandedly that acne is absolutely hideous and even though you know that it wasn't meant for you, how tf am i supposed to feel about mine that JUST. WON'T. STOP.
And it's fucking painful.
You can't lie on your back bc the acne hurts, all the t-shirts are full of blood stains, and ofc you can't wear revealing clothing and risk the pimples popping and bleeding in public.
You can't sleep on your side either bc the face acne hurts like hell and the pillows are also full of blood stains.
I've not been to the sea in 7 years now out of fear that people will see it. I've not let anyone see past the scars on my shoulders, always wearing the dresses other people wear at clubs at home and when I'm alone, completely alone.
I can only stand myself in the pictures or in the mirror under TONS of makeup otherwise I just wanna sit and cry all day.
Backless dresses are always with hair worn long, adding wigs if needed.
But sure, let's let it go rampant and pray it stops before the 40s ig.
And I know that the dating thing isn't just about acne, I am practically living like a nun but it's also a thing that's been rubbed in my face repeatedly.
"you'd be so gorgeous if your pimples stopped."
"ah you'd burn hearts if you weren't looking like crap all the time" in reference to acne
"no one will date you if your skin looks like that"
"why don't you wash your face"
"stop staining the shirts"
"that looks terrible no wonder you're single"

Acne isn’t just about oily skin – it’s a mix of hormones, clogged pores, bacteria, and inflammation. When excess oil and dead skin cells block hair follicles, bacteria thrive, leading to pimples, blackheads, and breakouts. Hormonal changes, stress, diet, and skincare habits can also play a big role! The good news? Acne is manageable! With the right skincare, diet, and treatments, you can keep breakouts under control. Need expert advice? Bioinus Healthcare is here to help!

Ceramides play a crucial role in nourishing and safeguarding the skin barrier against harmful external toxins. These wondrous molecules act as the body's natural defense mechanism, keeping the skin hydrated and supple. By forming a protective layer, ceramides prevent moisture loss and shield the skin from environmental aggressors like pollution and UV rays. This helps maintain the skin's integrity, preventing dryness, irritation, and potential damage. So, in a nutshell, ceramides are like the superheroes of skincare, ensuring our skin stays healthy and protected.

Skincare Struggles in Your 20s: Why It’s Okay to Choose Simplicity Over Perfection
Thoughts about skincare. Journaled when I was in my early to mid-twenties.
I’m sick of using skincare.
No, that’s not accurate. I am sick of not seeing much improvement after rounds of skincare. Years—I’ve been doing this for years—only to be disappointed each time I look in the mirror and see the same number of blackheads and small, itchy bumps ruining my face. I’m sick of convincing myself each morning that it’s getting better when it’s not—it’s just not getting worse. Which is good, I guess.
To clarify, I’ve been using drugstore products. Neutrogena and other stuff. When I finally went to a dermatologist, my jaw dropped. Ain’t no way I am spending that kind of money for clear skin. That kind of money could cover a samgyupsal promo five times a month. That kind of money could fill a small bookshelf with the works of my favorite novelists. That kind of money could repair the many leaking faucets and broken tiles in our house. That kind of money could pay for a round trip to the beaches of Cebu.
I could use that money for actual health concerns, like complete bloodwork or therapy for my scoliosis. Or for my furbaby’s vet. I could use it for protein powder and creatine and nicer clothes. I could use it to treat my friends and family.
Besides, I am not a freaking influencer. It is not my job to look and stay pretty. Why am I trying so hard?
I’m not saying one shouldn’t invest in one’s appearance, of course. Pretty privilege is real. Charm and swagger can get you what you want in a shallow society that prizes beauty. But I’m going to make sure I do the bare minimum, because the effort isn’t worth it in my life. I am a couch potato who works remotely. I don’t need to see people. Even when I do, people aren’t there for my looks, anyway. I am not going to go to great lengths to maintain this.
Doesn’t mean I won’t stop feeling envious, though. I’d be lying through my teeth if I said looking at acne-free people didn’t make me want to claw at their flawless faces. Especially when both of our faces share a mirror. My eyes zip from their spotless complexion to my rough, dry one. But the momentary insecurity soon fades. They go their own way, and I go mine. I read books and write and do my work, and I forget it all. I pet my dog. I’ll be fine. I look in the mirror and shrug at the red, angry bumps I see there. I’m doing all I can to fight it.
I’ll buy the cheapest drugstore brands and stick to what works best. I’ll happily accept whatever soaps my relatives throw my way. But I’m not going to go to great lengths to improve this complexion.
I suppose I just want my old, unproblematic skin back. The one I had in high school and half of college. The kind of skin that remained clear even as I overate sugar and milk and stayed up way too late binge-watching or cramming for an exam. But I have to accept that this is my reality now.
It’s one less thing to worry about, too, especially with my constant struggles with scoliosis and other health concerns. Bumps and rough patches on my skin seem so trivial. If it worsens, I’ll reconsider a dermatologist. But until it causes me actual physical harm, I’ll just apply the most basic facial wash or bar soap, slather on sunscreen, and hope for the best.
