Honestly, Dalinar saying they don’t have time for Adolin’s “drama” when that “drama” is his building resentment towards his father, genuinely made me so upset. Adolin is not a hateful person, any resentment he’s felt towards someone comes from a place of love and fierce loyalty (Sadeas, the honorspren). Who wouldn’t have some form of resentment to the person who killed your mother, who you loved?

Let Adolin be petty! It’s the least he could do, no matter how complicated the circumstances of Evi’s death.

Why Cosmere Characters Get Stopped by TSA

As requested by @talenat :)

The "TSA" are the airport security in the USA: they're the ones who might pull you aside because your suitcase has a mysterious liquid inside or you forgot to leave your pocketknife at home or, like, racism. But if Cosmere characters were trying to fly, here's why they might get pulled aside by the TSA!

1. Adolin: Huge Sword

"But she's my best friend! She wants to experience flying and I can't put her in checked luggage!" does not fly with the TSA agent.

2. Steris: Gun

"Look, my husband had to pack all of his guns so of course I needed to strap a small gun to my thigh--what if something happens on the plane?" does not fly with the TSA agent. (Don't worry; they didn't find her extra secret backup backup gun.)

3. Wayne: Pocket Knife

"Oh, it's not mine! I traded for it while in line!" does not fly with the TSA agent.

4. Szeth: Huge Sword

"It's okay; I bought Nightblood a seat" does not fly with the (increasingly exasperated) TSA agent.

5. Painter: Liquid

It's just ink--he makes it through after they check it.

6. Rock: Liquid

They make him give up his huge tupperware full of stew. :(

7. Sazed: Can't get through metal detector

This guy has a LOT of earrings.

8. Marsh: Can't get through the metal detector

And let me tell you--the TSA agent REALLY regrets the pat-down too.

9. Moash: Garden-variety racism

Moash is large, brown, and keeps glaring at all of the TSA agents. There is also the weird crystal crown growing out of his head but tbh it's the racism. I mean, they let Marsh through.

10. Shai: Way too many IDs

Her "They're just backups!" excuse doesn't really go over well.

11. Dalinar: Is suspected of carrying drugs

But it's not actually a brick of cocaine--it's just his copy of The Way of Kings.

12. Vasher: Dead squirrel in his carryon

His question: "Would it help if it started moving again?" really does not help his case.

13. Ulaam: Has organs in his suitcase

He should have at least left his spare livers at home.

14. Hoid: Take your pick

There was the time he refused to wear pants or shoes because "both pants and shoes are evil." There was the time he was noticeably taller and more Asian than his ID. There was the time when, after being told he couldn't bring on 5oz of perfume, he simply drank it, making eye contact the whole time.

15. Vin: All the things

First her metal earring sets off the metal detector, even though earrings don't usually do that. Then there are her many vials filled with liquid and metal dust. Then there's her glass daggers. By the end, Vin is wondering how ANYONE can pack for plane travel.

decided to share a small comic of one of my favorite little parts from Rhythm of War in celebration of the release of Wind and Truth! i hope to colorize and maybe remake this when i have some time. kaladin and adolin’s dynamic is one of my favorite things to read.

In August this year Dragonsteel asked me if I could add some concept art and designs as inspiration for the Worldhopper ball mainly to visualize the room and the wedding attire of both Adolin and Shallan. 

As usual I loved to get into the tiny details - from embroidery patterns to alethi wedding traditions. Some of them made it into the final event some of them did not and this is why I am so happy I can finally share them with you! 

So to say that I made some high pitched noises when i stepped into the venue at the ball last December is probably an understatement. Paladin Creative, Dragonsteel and their many helpers did such an impressive job making this immersive ball reality and fun – especially considering with so little time beforehand.

How come most stromlight fans completely forget about the whole racism thing?

Like you know adolin and shallan are canonically racist right? And own slaves?

I just feel like every time I see a stormlight post gushing about these characters I need to remind fans of this minor fact.

To be fair, the books are very blase about it. But like. They own people. As slaves. Based on their race.

When they have their cute lil marriage, they’re also sharing custody of slaves. Which they own. Because they're racist aristocrats. And that’s how they got rich. By using slaves. For free labor.

Just once again putting it out there. And yes Im a hater. And yes I’m judging.

What Pets Stormlight Characters Would Have

As requested by anon. :)

However, I will NOT be assigning anyone a dog or a cat. Why, you ask? Well, because I've done that one before! I've also previously assigned them random pets. But for THIS variation on the pet-having theme, here are the non-Rosharan, non-cat-or-dog pets I think they'd have!

1. Szeth: A lizard

Szeth: [staring straight ahead, unblinking] The lizard on his shoulder: [staring straight ahead, unblinking] Nightblood: I just feel sometimes like I'm the only conversationalist here.

2. Mraize: Poison Dart Frogs

Mraize: Did you know? These frogs are not poisonous in captivity because their poison comes from their diet. It is not innate. Iyatil: So that's why... Mraize: That's why I feed them only poisonous insects, yeah.

3. Kaladin: Guinea Pigs

Kaladin: (mid-explanation) So anyway, I had the one guinea pig, but then Shallan told me that guinea pigs can't be on their own or they get too stressed out--you always have to have more than one! Dalinar: You have a dozen of them, though. Kaladin: Well, I didn't want them to be lonely? What if some of them don't get along? Dalinar: ...It's a guinea pig army, Kaladin. Kaladin: ...Yeah. Dalinar: You have a problem. Kaladin: I know.

4. Shallan: Exotic fish

Adolin: Your tank setup is amazing! Shallan: Thanks! There's actually quite a bit about, like, temperatures and filtration and space and stuff--luckily, Radiant loves to manage it all. Adolin: Is...Is that urchin wearing a miniature version of Veil's hat? Shallan: And that was Veil's contribution. Adolin: (In a whisper): Amazing.

5. Taravangian: Ant Farm

Taravangian: It's inspiring--I always have them on my desk as I work. Taravangian: On...less intelligent days, it is good to see that a whole community, working together, can achieve such remarkable things. Taravangian: On truly intelligent days, it's nice to be reminded that humans are nothing more than ants to me. Adrotagia: ...Your granddaughter got that ant farm for you. Taravangian: Yes, and I am saying I like it.

6. Navani: Rats

Navani: They are social, intelligent, misunderstood creatures! Navani: And if you give them a little rat backpack, they can carry messages! Dalinar: ...So that is why there is a little backpack-wearing rat sitting in my palm right now? Navani: Yes. Dalinar: ... Dalinar: I got used to the watch. I'm sure I can get used to this.

7. Rlain: A Rabbit

Rlain: You see, if I'm in workform, then the humans treat me like a slave. Rlain: If I'm in warform, they're scared of me. Rlain: If I'm in warform while carrying an adorable rabbit... Renarin: S-So unbelievably cute... Rlain: Exactly.

8. Adolin: Horned beetle

Shallan: ...It's because they "fence" with their horns, isn't it? Adolin: My tiny, adorable duelist!

9. Renarin: Snake

Renarin: [is chilling with his snake wrapped around his shoulder and arm] Shallan: ...Really not beating the "creepy" allegations here. Renarin: Eh. Me and Sir Wiggles don't care about that.

10. Lezian: Spider

Lezian: Pound for pound, spiders are THE most ruthless hunters on the planet. Lezian: Killerheart isn't my pet--he's my inspiration in viciousness and power! Leshwi: Killerheart is SO fuzzy! Lezian: ...I never liked you.
