I can't help but feel so bad for Adrien in the show. I know it's all just fiction, but damn if the stripping away of all his autonomy and the deception he faces from literally everyone in his life isn't heartbreaking. And I feel like people don't talk about it enough. Certainly there's a corner of the fandom that does (and there are the people who go too far about it tbh), but overall, so many people don't seem to see the blatant abuse apologism perpetuated by this show, and this kid gets raked over the coals so often both in and out of fandom, with all the bad writing decisions and the misrepresentations of his character in a lot of circles.

Every time I see an Adrienette scene these days, it makes me a little sick ngl. I honestly think he should free Nooroo from Lila-Cerise-Iris-whoever she is and the both of them should go explore the world and find themselves and their freedom and all that (because unfortunately Plagg is also keeping secrets from Adrien rn, whether it's because he physically can't tell him or not remains to be seen). Maybe settle down in some other country. Get a decent job or something. It's literally the only ending I can think of.

Your rant was fine and I totally get it. Adrien's treatment is legitimately upsetting. The fact that he will never be truly free upsets me, too. I hate the fact that he has remote controls. I hate the fact that he doesn't know about them. I hate the fact that the truth is known by almost everyone who claims to love him as keeping these secrets from him is not love. Plagg, Kagami, Felix, Amelie, Marinette, and Nathalie are all behaving terribly. I especially hate Plagg keeping the secrets because if Adrien can't trust Plagg then who can he trust?

I have no idea where the writers are going with this BS, but given the wacky morals this show thrives on, I doubt it's anywhere good. I don't think we're ever going to see a proper freedom plot for the sentimonsters or the Kwamis.

I would love it if this show actually acknowledged that the Kwamis' are slaves and let them be freed. That's actually the slave plot I'd pick over the sentiBS. I also like the idea of Adrien and Nooroo living that hermit life together. Nooroo knows all the secrets and can tell them to Adrien plus they can bond over Gabriel controlling them. It's a good match.

Side note: writing this made me realize that canon didn't need to do the stupid plot where Lila was somehow able to get Nathalie to infiltrate Gabriel's layer and text Lila all of Gabriel's secrets. A plot still I call BS on because Gabriel is always aware of what his akumas are up to. He was also in the house so you think he'd notice something! It would make way more sense for Lila to learn everything from Nooroo after she gets the butterfly.

Relationship Information

Adrien was not prepared to meet you. 

The first time you guys met was actually battling an akuma. 

Chat noir was clearing the area and guiding citizens to safety when he saw you in front of the akuma. Before he could reach out to save you, you had thrown a pie at an akuma instead of running away

He knew immediately that you were a problem.

At first, he thought he was just amused by you

"You’re ridiculous."

"And you love it." (He did. But he wasn’t ready to admit it.)

Plagg noticed before Adrien did. "Kid, you look at them like they hung the moon."

"I DO NOT—" Plagg just rolls his eyes. He knew Adrien was doomed.

At some point, Ladybug decided to give the monkey miraculous (out of desperation) to you.

Technically she gave it to chat noir to give to you cause she felt like he’d find someone who matched its vibe yk. 

Now he miscalculated as chat noir and ended up de-transforming in front of you…. 

Now that you know each other's superhero and civilian identity, you flirt with him even more, but Adrien assumes you were just messing with him.

"Wow, minou, I should’ve gotten a Miraculous that lets me steal hearts instead."

"Haha… yeah…" (Adrien.exe has stopped working)

It hit him all at once during a fight. You got seriously hurt for the first time, and he panicked.

"That wasn’t funny, don’t ever do that again."

“You’re worried about me, minou?" (You were smirking, but your voice was softer than usual.)

"Of course I am, I—"

Oh. Oh no.

He immediately tried to pretend he wasn’t in love with you. Spoiler: he failed miserably.

"Dude, just confess." Nino attempts to convince him

"What if they laugh at me?"

"BRO. THEY’VE BEEN FLIRTING WITH YOU FOR MONTHS." Alya literally screams at him cause how can one be that blind???

Adrien finally worked up the nerve to tell you… except he blurted it out at the worst possible moment.

You were mid-prank, trying to see how many macarons you could balance on his head.

"I think I’m in love with you." All the macarons fell.

You just stared at him.

"You think?"

"I mean—No—I know—Wait, I wanted to say this differently—"

You grinned and tackled him into a hug. "Took you long enough."

"…Wait, you KNEW?!"

"Of course I knew! Adrien, I’ve been waiting for you to realize!"

You kissed his cheek and whispered, "You’re cute when you’re flustered."

Adrien.exe crashed again.

Daily Life and Couple Things

Adrien is used to following strict rules, so your unpredictable nature baffles and delights him. He never knows what you'll do next, and honestly? He loves it.

"Why are you stealing my food?"

"Because if I asked, you’d say yes, and that takes the fun out of it."

You introduce him to the concept of "doing things just because," and he finds himself in questionable activities.

You once replaced Adrien’s schedule with completely fake classes.

"Why do I have 'Advanced Duck Whispering' at 10 AM?"

"Oh, you better hurry. Ms. Quackens doesn’t like tardiness."

Whenever Lila lies, you nod aggressively and add an even more ridiculous detail to the story, just to see if she rolls with it. 

Adrien has to turn away to keep from laughing.

You steal his expensive pens just to make him chase you. (He lets you win half the time because he likes seeing you happy.)

Adrien never swears, so you teach him "acceptable alternatives." Now, when he stubs his toe, he says, "Oh, sugar biscuits!"

Adrien, being the sweet boy he is, is initially horrified when you encourage minor chaos. "We can’t just take an entire baguette and run!" But then you flash him a grin, and suddenly… maybe you can.

(Don’t worry he left cash on the shop workers counter before you could see)

You teach him how to sneak out without getting caught (he gets caught anyway because he’s too polite to ignore Nathalie’s calls)

Sometimes, Adrien stares at you with so much fondness because you make his life exciting in a way he never expected.

You randomly poke his cheek when he's deep in thought, just to remind him you're there.

"Adrien, I have a totally normal and reasonable idea."

"Last time you said that, we almost got arrested.”

"Yeah, but we didn’t."

Jester & Chat Noir

Your entire fighting style is just annoying the villain until they quit.

Ladybug : “What’s your plan Jester?”

You : "Oh, I’m just gonna confuse them until they give up."

The funny thing is that it works. You dodge every attack in the stupidest ways possible while cracking jokes, and by the end, the akuma is exhausted.

You make constant puns just to see how long it takes for Chat Noir to regret his life choices.

“That was a very MONKEY business decision.”

“Stop.”

“Come on, mon minou, don’t go bananas.”

“PLEASE.”

Ladybug feels like the puns you make are even worse than chat’s (which says ALOT)

Your Lucky Charm equivalent? Some random object that you have to make work in the dumbest way possible

And you always do

Chat Noir : “How will a balloon animal help?!”

You : “Have faith, dear feline.

Ladybug sometimes regrets making you an official hero (she loves you but sometimes it feels like she’s babysitting two kids). However, you seem to make chat noir happy so she doesn’t say anything.

Chat Noir : "We have to be subtle!”

You : "Got it." Immediately does something incredibly unsubtle.

Adrien knows he should be stopping you from causing chaos, but half the time, he’s laughing too hard to stop you.

You like to bet on who can make the most dramatic entrance. He’s Chat Noir, so he should win, but then you show up swinging from a chandelier, and he has to admit defeat.

You tell him you have "a foolproof plan" to defeat an akuma. It usually works… in the most absurd way possible. (Like getting the akuma to monologue while you steal their weapon.)

Plagg & You: A Dangerous Duo

Plagg adores you. Like, this ball of chaos sees you as his favorite human.

Adrien knew you two would be trouble the second he caught you teaching Plagg how to juggle tiny cheese wheels.

“Why does my room smell like burned camembert?”

“…No reason.” (You and Plagg are exchanging guilty looks.)

Plagg is your biggest enabler. If you come up with a bad idea, Plagg is the first to say, “DO IT.”

Whenever Adrien tries to be responsible, Plagg just floats over to you and whispers, “Distract him.” And you DO.

Adrien : “I have a photoshoot tomorrow, I really can’t—”

You : grabs a pillow and smacks him in the face “Oops.”

Adrien : “…you did that on purpose.”

Plagg : “I think you should hit them back. For justice.”

Adrien refuses to let you and Plagg be alone together anymore. The last time he left you both unsupervised he came back to his entire closet upside down.

Around Others

Nino & Alya

"So let me get this straight. Adrien’s dating a human tornado." 

"Yep."

Nino thinks you’re hilarious and enables you (almost as much as plagg).

"You should be stopping them."  Alya points out

"But it’s FUNNY.”

Alya, however, is constantly trying to get footage of your shenanigans.  

"Girl, you are PRIME Ladyblog content."

"Alya, no–"  

Nino once watched you convince Adrien to climb onto a moving carousel and decided that was enough for the day.

“Dude, she’s gonna get you arrested."  

"It’s called ‘living a little,’ Nino."  Adrien recites one of your many catchphrases

"I just- Adrien, how do you handle this??"  

"With love and patience."

Meanwhile, you’re in the background doing flips off a park bench.

100% baffled by how you two work.  

She thought Adrien needed a sweet, gentle love interest. Instead, he’s dating a human cyclone

Cute Moments

You and Adrien are that couple that makes no sense but also makes perfect sense.

He’s the golden retriever to your orange cat and somehow, it works.

He adores how free-spirited you are. You make him feel like life isn’t just about rules and expectations.

You once convinced him to ditch a photoshoot for a whole day of fun. He swore he’d regret it. 

He did NOT regret it.

It was the happiest you’d ever seen him.

You love ruffling his hair just to see him pout.

"Stop that!"

"Never."

He definitely holds your hand to keep you from running off to do something stupid.

"You’re not wandering off this time."

"I would never—"

Adrien just raises an eyebrow in disbelief.

Whenever Adrien gets overwhelmed with expectations, you grab his hand and pull him away.

"C’mon, minou. Let’s get lost for a bit."

He always feels lighter with you.

You poke his cheek when he’s sad. If that doesn’t work, you tickle him. If that doesn’t work, you grab his hand and start spinning him around in circles.

"Let me down—"

"Not until you smile again”

He doesn’t know why, but it always makes his heart race.

Adrien loves spontaneous cuddles. You’ll randomly throw yourself onto him, and he’ll just melt.

"You’re warm." 

"Are you using me as a personal heater again?"

"…No?"

People either love or fear you two together and yet somehow, you bring out the best in each other.

"Adrien, do you trust me?"

"…No. But I like you, so let’s go."

I think that we must realize that Maribug is self-sacrificing in the same extend than AdriChat, just not in the same way - AdriChat self-sacrifices to act as a shield to Ladybug in the Akuma fights, while Maribug self-sacrifices to act as Atlas to carry (what she learnt to think of) her burdens to protect the happiness of the people around her....

Adrien finding out that everyone in his immediate circle knew about Gabriel and knew about him being a senti-being and STILL chose to withhold that information to 'protect' him would devast him but in a way thats not surprising- hes devasted because hes not surprised..hes been experiencing this type of coddling all his life.

Hes not allowed to go to school cuz what if something happens? Hes not allowed to know any of the miraculous crap that Ladybug does cuz..what if something happens? He cant know Ladybugs identity cuz what if he gets akumatized (Not Ladybug, never Ladybug shes perfect..she knows everything, he doesn't.) And now?

Why is it easier for people who claim to love him, to lie to him so easily in the fake pretense of protecting him..as if they dont trust him to control his own emotions as if he hasnt been dealing with Akumas as long as Ladybug, has if he hasnt been taught to school his emotions since he was young! The people closest to him dont care about him- not entirely, because they like him better if hes blissfully unaware.

Natalie, Kagami, Felix, Marinette and Plagg have FAILED Adrien and he needs to be angry about it. He deserves to be angry about it cuz these people have claimed to care about him more than Gabriel and they are doing exactly what hes done all his life.

(Plagg has no reason to keep this from Adrien his HOLDER. He shouldnt have this stupid little loyalty to Ladybug. He shouldve called her out the minute she let her guard down cuz Gabriel seemed slightly apologetic, this isnt fair to Adrien.)

I think the fan reaction to "Werepapas", specifically that scene with the broken rings, proves that Adrien's fans don't actually see him as a person, just an object or Marinette's accessory.

I don't like Adrien at all. I've made that very clear. But when I saw that scene, I was still overcome with sympathy for him. I found it so utterly disgusting that his romantic partner was willing to kill him to defeat an enemy. She didn't call for backup, she didn't try every other option first, and she wasn't even sure she could bring him back (see "Ladybug"), but she gambled with his life anyway. This scene made me feel so bad for Adrien that I temporarily forgot how much I dislike him, and I just wanted to see him get as far away from Marinette as possible.

Yet it seems like all the actual fans of the show, even of Adrien specifically, didn't feel that same way. They didn't think there was anything wrong with what Ladybug did. And maybe this is because some of them blindly accept whatever the show feeds them, and since the show doesn't portray what she did as wrong, they don't see it as wrong. But I also think the fact that they weren't disgusted on Adrien's behalf proves that they simply don't care about Adrien as a person, just as an accessory to Marinette.

Two episodes into season 6 of Miraculous, and I’m actually starting to hate Marinette. I was indifferent to her before, I neither liked or disliked her, but her behaviour in Sublimation was actually terrible. I’m so tired of her having so little faith in Adrien that she continues to stalk him even now that they’re an official couple. Her constantly wishing harm upon Sublime so that she’d have an excuse to jump in and play saviour was disgusting behaviour from someone who claims to want to be her friend. Oh, and as if THAT wasn’t bad enough, she has the nerve to break Sublime’s prostheses mid-run, just because she’s insecure. Marinette is actually a terrible, selfish person who’s not mature enough for a relationship. Adrien needs to break up with her ASAP.

Revelator is meant to be a critic callout episode, but it all rings so hollow. Because the critics are right. Marinette did control Adrien through lying to him. She did become just like Gabriel, lying to Adrien "for his own good". And it did ruin Adrienette. Saying "the critics are losers and everyone who believes them don't want the truth, they want sensationalism" is irrelevant, because you made her do this. You didn't need to, but you did, and you're doubling down.

With the writers making Marinette make the decisions as to breaking the news to Adrien and lying to the world—

With Nathalie taking a complete backseat and letting this traumatized teenager (who saw a man die right in front of her) tell her how to go about telling Adrien everything because “she wouldn’t be there to care for him” despite the fact that his bodyguard is literally. Right. There.

With Amelie not even involving herself in the plot whatsoever, despite knowing (I don’t know how extensively) that Gabriel was a shitbag, just chilling on the sidelines while the world calls him a hero and her nephew still doesn’t know anything about him being a sentimonster or a single thing about his parents’ actions

With Felix (for some fucking reason) not telling Adrien he was a sentimonster at any point, especially now that Gabe is gone and he wouldn’t have to worry about potential backlash (though I still have more leniency for him than the adults)

—I feel the writer are setting up Marinette to be the one to fully receive punishment for these lies/secrets. Despite the fact that the adults should absolutely be taking responsibility for breaking the news gently to Adrien, making sure he has a support system, and making sure he knows to keep his rings safe, they let themselves be pushed around by a traumatized teenager (who, again, watched a man die right in front of her) and shouldn’t have to involve herself in this family drama.

Sometimes I wonder why Adrien even got the black cat ring. What makes him a good holder for the miraculous of destruction?

We get somewhat of an answer with Marinette for the miraculous of creation. She's a creative person with a lot of creative hobbies, which allows her to use lucky charm very well.

But then, shouldn't Adrien be a destructive person in one way or another? Not him being toxic or hurting people. Just his personality having something to do with the concept of destruction.

I've seen some people argue that Adrien is a good black cat holder because he's not a destructive person and that the best holder for destruction is someone who isn't destructive, unlike with creation where the best holder is someone creative.

It's sound logic, so I can't really argue with it. However, on a thematic level it promotes a narrative of "creation is good, destruction is evil. Therefore we want as much of creation and as little of destruction." Which can work for some stories, but wouldn't fit with the imagery of mlb of how creation and destruction are a yin and yang thing rather than a good and evil. Both in how the miraculous are presented in the box, how Ladybug and Chat Noir are (supposed to be) equal partners and how the show never really explored or acknowledged much how destruction can be more dangerous than creation (other than Chat cataclysming people on accident/trying to when angry, but those are more for shock value than actually making a thematic point.)

The saddest thing is that as a character, Adrien is perfectly positioned to show the ways destruction can be good. His arc should be all about cutting off the toxic people in his life (namely his father), which is peak "destroying something bad so there can be good".

His establishing character moment in origins even plays into it, with how he rebels against Gabriel's control to run away to school. That's already a big action where he tries to destroys Gabriel total control of his life!

You mentioned in a recent ask how there's not much canonically to support that Adrien values freedom or that he uses Chat Noir as a way to gain freedom, which is correct. But I think the reason why it's such widespread fanon to the point it's confused with canon is that thematically Adrien should value freedom above all else.

His literal worst nightmare is being trapped in an ever shrinking cage, which he only escapes from by transforming to Chat Noir. His life is tightly controlled by his father, and Chat Noir allows him to both knowingly stand up to him (like in simon says) and unknowingly fight his father. Whenever he and Ladybug are trapped, cataclysm is the answer, not lucky charm.

But incorperating that into the narrative would require the show to engage with the themtics of having characters associated with specific concepts on... any level at all really. Or just have themes in the first place that more than accidental unfortunate implications.

The show has done a terrible job with most of its power assignments. You can headcanon and rewrite ways to make them work, but in the context of canon, many of them make no sense. Like in what way is Nino a protector? And why was Alya given Illusions? Odd choice for a journalist. What even makes someone a good holder for Illusions? I go the storyteller route and fix Alya accordingly, but that's not canon. Canon clearly wants her to be an investigative journalist who is obsessed with truth, not good stories which would be a better match for something relating to revelations or investigation.

As you rightly pointed out, Adrien has similar issues. What makes him a good holder for Destruction? What does it even mean to be a good holder of Destruction? I'll give you my two cents, but you'll quickly see that none of this is canon. This is just what I think canon should have done. I also don't think there's a way to make Adrien's assignment work in canon as it's way too late in the game to make the kind of changes Destruction's power set needs for it to feel like a good Force. (Note: I don't think Destruction fits anyone in canon because of the following issues. I think it's got fundamental design flaws. I'm only focusing on Adrien since it's his assigned Force.)

The biggest issue with Destruction - and the reason some people think that the best holder is someone who isn't destructive - is the fact that canon has failed to show Destruction as a positive force even though Destruction can absolutely be a positive force! You wouldn't know that from canon, though. Canon shows Creation as good and Destruction as just kind of there.

Cataclysm is sometimes useful in a fight, but it doesn't add much value to the world. Another miraculous would often work just as well or even better as cataclysm has been known to cause trouble. For example, it's arguably the reason Adrien is an orphan, severely undermining my ability to look at it as something that benefits Adrien!

The newly introduced "Miraculous Chat Noir" ability isn't great either. So far, it's only been used to have Adrien unknowingly denying himself information because Alya would absolutely have caved and told him the truth if he hadn't erased her memory. What a wonderful way to introduce a new power! I'm so happy that Adrien finally got an upgrade! (That was sarcasm. Worst power introduction in the show.)

Tikki is seen as a good and positive Kwami while Plagg causes chaos and gets blamed for things like the loss of Atlantis and the death of the dinosaurs. Su-Han is even on record as saying that Plagg should never be out of the box because Destruction just isn't a good thing to set free. But Tikki being free? That's fine even though she's Plagg's equal.

All of this is why I will once again get on my soapbox and argue that Adrien should be the one purifying akumas, not Marinette. Purification is an act of Destruction. You are removing taint and restoring something to peace. Which is fitting because Adrien's life is full of things that he needs to remove in order to find peace. Marinette doesn't have that kind of plot line so her being the one with the purification power is both bad lore and just thematically bad. She's a creator, let her stick to creation!

Because Destruction can so easily cause harm, it should also be about self control. It's yet another one of the many ways that canon could have leaned into this idea of intent mattering. Over the course of the show, Adrien should have become better and better at targeting his cataclysms so that they only destroy the thing(s) he wants destroyed while leaving everything else intact. If that isn't a solid metaphor for things like emotional self-regulation, learning when to cut things from your life, and healthy boundary setting than I don't know what is.

All of this leads to my lore bible's list of what makes a person a good match for Destruction, none of which is canon, but my rewrite, my rules:

Someone who is capable of controlling their negative impulses to an absurd degree. They cannot be inclined to act out when angry or frustrated. It’s okay if they're emotional, the question is what they do with those emotions because a Chosen of Destruction cannot get upset and physically act out while transformed.

Destruction’s powers have to be perfectly honed in a way that the other powers don’t, so the ideal Chosen will be someone patient who doesn’t mind hours of practice.

While the first two traits in this list are the only essential ones, Plagg has found that his best kittens are those with kind, nurturing natures. In almost all of the strongest miraculous teams, Destruction is the team's heart. The one who encourages others and brings everyone together. (Destroying barriers between people?) Destruction needs kindness and selfless love to direct it properly.

Also agree on this. That's why the post you mentioned had this bit:

it's pretty popular for people to say that Chat Noir is Adrien embracing freedom, a take that makes perfect sense given his backstory and the way he's played in Origins. However, it's hard to call this canon. Outside of Origins, there's not much in canon to back up this read.

Adrien wanting freedom makes so much sense for his character, but then they'd have to actually give him a character so of course canon won't go there. Imagine how much better his "I don't know what I want to be" arc would have been if his final note was about wanting to explore the world instead of about loving Marinette. Essentially take this:

I've been thinking a lot, and still not know what I would like to do later in life. The only thing I know for sure is that I love Marinette Dupain-Cheng. But I guess that doesn't really help you. I'm sorry. Adrien Agreste.

And make it something like this:

I've been thinking a lot and I still don't know what I would like to do later in life. The only thing I know for sure is that want to try out as many things as I can to try to find my passion. I'm not sure how much that helps you, though. I'm not even sure where to begin. Sorry. Adrien Agreste.

This? This is what a character arc looks like. We start with him having no idea what he wants, move to him accepting that fact, leading into him trying a bunch of things, ending with him finding happiness. His happiness being tied to his girlfriend is not a good message just because he's a boy and she's a girl. This is not what feminism looks like!

Relationship Information

You were a new student and Marinette adopted you into her friend group before anyone else could. One day you were all hanging out, Marinette had told you another one of her friends would be late and that’s when you met Adrien.

He had just come from a photo shoot and was chatting up with Nino when he saw you.

You both smiled politely at each other and that was it.

At first, you just saw him as this kind, well-mannered boy. Someone who smiled at everyone but never seemed to let anyone in. 

This was until you noticed a few things.

His smile wavering when no one was watching

His laughter often felt forced

There was this dull sadness in his eyes that no one else seemed to point out

You were always kind to him, even when others treated him like a celebrity instead of a person. That’s what caught his attention.

He fell for you slowly, finally realizing it when he started looking forward to every moment with you, no matter how small.

Confessing to you was terrifying because he was worried that he’d ruin the friendship you guys had but when you held his face and whispered, “I like you too,” he nearly melted on the spot.  

“You… you do? Really?” His voice cracked, and you giggled before nodding.  

He hugged you so tightly, burying his face in your shoulder because he couldn’t believe he was this lucky.

You never expected him to latch onto you so quickly, but when he did, you knew you were in trouble.

Daily Life and Couple Things

Being with Adrien is like having a delicate flower in your hands.

You’re careful, gentle, always making sure he doesn’t feel pressured or overwhelmed.

At the same time, he makes you feel safe too. Despite his own struggles, he always checks on you and making sure you’re okay.

As we know Adrien is STARVED for affection, and you give it so effortlessly. 

He lives in your arms (not because you won’t let him go but because he won’t leave.)

He melts when you run your fingers through his hair, especially after a long day. 

You’re constantly taking care of him in small ways. Fixing his clothes, reminding him to eat, rubbing his hands when they’re cold.  

“You’re too good to me,” he sighs, kissing your forehead.

He absolutely loves soft physical contact. Like when you brush your pinky against his, forehead touches, lingering hand-holding, he loves it all.

The first time you held his face (before you got together), he was so incredibly flustered he nearly malfunctioned.  

If you give him handwritten notes or small gifts, he keeps every single one.  

The way he looks at you sometimes, like you’re the only thing in the world that makes sense, it makes your heart ache in the best way.

You feel like the only person he can truly be himself around, and you cherish that.

Adrien as Cat Noir

You definitely know about his superhero identity.

At first you didn't and things didn’t make sense. He’d seem so tired sometimes and like his mind was somewhere else. 

And sometimes… he’d have this confidence that doesn’t feel like him. A flirtatious smirk, a playful wink—things that remind you of the cat-themed hero.

I feel like one day he was just so done and tired, maybe this is like after Chat Blanc and Marinette (one of his best friends) is just straight up avoiding and acting weird around him. Then it gets worse because Ladybug is also off and not allowing him to do anything during missions and he feels so angry and upset. 

And he tries to do something helpful but she straight up flinches away from him like he’s dangerous or something (cause she’s still traumatised by chat blanc).

He reaches his breaking point and completely screws ladybugs whole ‘secret identity’ rule, shows up at your house one day, still transformed and completely breaks down in your arms.

You're shocked but it makes sense. The pieces of cheese left around your house, his feline tendencies, his constant disappearances. 

After you both get over the awkwardness (there was barely any) He gets so protective of you, even when you don’t need him to be.

If there’s ever an akuma attack near you, Chat Noir is IMMEDIATELY by your side, no questions asked.  

When he’s exhausted from hero duties, you always notice, his tired eyes, the way he zones out, etc.

There are definitely times where the fights or just mental exhaustion is so bad that it physically hurts him to explain. 

You never pry, but you always offer comfort. “You don’t have to tell me anything,” you say, running your fingers through his hair. “Just rest.”

If you ever put a hand on his cheek and tell him, “You don’t have to carry everything alone,” he might will actually cry.  

Fighting

You don’t fight often, but when you do, it’s never explosive. It’s quiet and emotional. 

Adrien is bad at confrontation, as a result of his father, but he can’t stand upsetting you, so he always tries to talk things out. 

At first it was difficult because when he’d tried to talk with his Dad he’d constantly be blown off, but you actually choose to listen to him so it makes it easier.

The day you cry in front of him will actually be the day he dies.

You do your best to regulate your emotions, which is why people are often to attracted to you because of your calm aura.

For you to get emotional enough to cry??? you must have been very hurt.

He does everything in his power to make sure you don’t cry but if it ever gets to that point, he’s already rushing to cup your cheeks, wiping away your tears while whispering apologies.

He hates the idea of you being upset with him, so he always makes it right.

His love language in apologies? Forehead kisses and whispering comfort. 

“I don’t want to fight. I just want you.”  

Vulnerability

Your biggest struggle in the relationship however, is feeling helpless. 

Adrien has so much weight on his shoulders, and you can see it, but there’s only so much you can do.

You worry about him constantly. Whether it’s school, his father, or just his tendency to overwork himself, you always feel like you need to look out for him.

Prior to him revealing his identity, you felt as though he was keeping a secret (and he technically was. not because he didn’t trust you, but because he wanted to protect you.)

That thought hurts more than you’d like to admit.

When you found out his identity, you felt a bit guilty for being upset about the whole secret thing but he's quick to clear it up cause he understood.

The first time Adrien opened up about his mother, it was late at night while you were lying next to each other.  

He didn’t mean to talk about it, it just slipped out, and before he knew it, he was venting all his emotions.

You listened without judgment, holding his hand and squeezing it gently.  

“I just… I don’t know if I’ll ever be enough,” he admitted, voice barely above a whisper.

You placed a hand over his heart. “You are more than enough, Adrien.”

He swore he fell even harder for you in that moment.

Couple Things

He loves the way you always seem to understand him, even when he struggles to express himself. He feels safe and warm around you, like he can finally breathe.  

The way you instinctively fix his hair or adjust his clothes, not because you care about how he looks, but because you care about him.

Loves how you always remind him to take care of himself when he gets too caught up in pleasing others.

Loves the way you whisper 'I love you' like it’s the easiest thing in the world

And you completely adore him as well.

At times he feels like he isn’t doing enough cause he’s so emotionally stunted but you get it.

You find his social awkward nature adorable.

He might have the miraculousness of the black cat but I believe he 100% gives golden retriever energy. Always there when you need him and super hyper.

He’s an incredibly good listener (cause he spent 80% of his life listening to orders from everyone around him) So if you ever need to vent he’ll be there.

He remembers EVERYTHING. Your favorite snacks, the songs that make you cry, the exact way you like your tea.

You love the fact that no matter how much he’s been through, he’s still so full of love.

Around Others

Plagg LOVES you. He complains that you’re “too nice” and “too good for this cheese-obsessed idiot,” but secretly, he appreciates the way you care for Adrien. Sometimes, he even cuddles up to you when Adrien is asleep.

Marinette adores you and Adrien together. She was one of the first to notice the way he lights up around you, and though it stings at first (her long-time crush and all), she quickly realizes that you make him genuinely happy and supports you 100%.

Nino is beyond relieved. He’s seen how much Adrien suppresses his emotions and is grateful that you’re someone who gets him. He also teases Adrien constantly about how soft he is around you.

Alya was suspicious at first but once she realized how deeply you care for him, she became your second biggest hype-women (Marinette is the first).

At school, people were initially surprised because how did this gentle person who’s been in school for like one month end up with ADRIEN???

But once they see how you interact together, the surprise fades cause it makes sense.

Lila HATES it. She tries to spread rumors that you’re using Adrien or that he’ll get bored of you. But every time she tries, Adrien shuts it down immediately.

The fangirls are devastated, but they can’t even hate you because you’re too sweet. A Lot of them start respecting you once they see how well you treat Adrien.

Luka knew before anyone else (adrien most definitely went to him for advice on how to confess to you)

Alya and Adrien got salted on for BASIC shit when Lila was introduced but Marinette and Felix having been acting foolish frequently with no consequences to acting like that and yet their fans love the hell out of them.

Marinettes allowed to stalk and harass people frequently cuz shes so in love with Adrien. Shes allowed to frequently sideline Chat and keep him out of plans and hand out miraculous like candy cuz shes the guardian and can do whatever. She can tell someone her identity but Chat cant.

Felix is allowed to pester Adrien about shit he had no control over and then try and get his friends akumatized for no reason. Then he finds out his aunt (ADRIENS MOM) is in the basement but says nothing, he also doesnt tell him what Gabriel is nor that theyre senti beings..he only frees Kagami cuz ??? Whatever ig. Hes allowed to selfishly sell out the kwami and no one bats an eye.

But Alya understandably questions Marinettes intentions about Lila (cuz Marinette literally ONLY cared abt Lila cuz she was after Adrien and then just decided to get extra with it.) And suddenly Alyas a bad friend who would bully Marinette ?? Really? Fuck off.

Adrien says to 'take the high road' cuz obviously trying to outwardly call Lila out isnt work and suddenly hes a push over and a doormat and he doesn't deserve his miraculous or Marinette??? Be fucking fr. Yall piss me OFFFF.

At least Adrien and Alyas behavior came from a place of caring. While your faves have been consistently selfish and wild with their behaviors.
