Relta “exiled” Philip for his own safety, and locked herself away in a castle tower for the duration of her pregnancy, making Prince Alastair her regent for the time being as only her siblings knew of her condition. After giving birth on July 14th at dawn, she sent her son away to the safety of Philip’s kingdom so he could be raised as a knight, lord, prince, or whatever Prince Philip saw fit for their son.
Callum adores his parents, hearing stories of this magical mystery woman who is his mother from the man. He just never learned her name, only knowing she was a powerful queen in her own right (Philip supports Relta’s claim to the Lunaruz throne, and wishes they could have wed publicly for an alliance between their kingdoms). He grew up admiring women greatly for their strengths, seeing the multiple gender identities in his kingdom all as equal.
Philip raised Callum as his ‘bastard’ son with an unknown mistress, which allowed Callum freedoms in the castle with studying in case he ended up being heir to the throne should something happen to Theodore or Phillip. Callum was raised to be king, much to his shock.
After the war between King Theodore and Queen Relta, Callum realized who exactly his mother was and went to Lunaruz to meet her, but not to stake a claim for the throne as he already was King Philip’s heir, and only heir.
Callum, while growing up in his spare time, studied astronomy, astrology, and agricultural techniques so he could figure out ways to make it easier for the farmers and serfs in the kingdom of Hamina. His passion, above all else, is to make the lives of his people easier and less strenuous, even if he has to do the research himself.
