🟤 Fri morning - ISRAEL REALTIME - Connecting to Israel in Realtime
✡️ Erev (before) Shabbat - Parshat Kedoshim - Leviticus 19:1-20:27 - “You shall be holy, for I, the L‑rd your G‑d, am holy” followed by dozens of mitzvot (commandments) through which a Jew sanctifies him/herself and relates to the holiness of G‑d.  These include: prohibition against idolatry, charity, equality before the law, Shabbat, intimate morality, honesty in business, honor one’s parents, and the sacredness of life.
💩U.S. ARMS - THE JUSTIFICATION PHASE..
.. US State Department: We think that the Rafah operation will weaken Israel's position in the negotiations for the deal and its position in the world.
.. The White House stated the United States provided Israel with alternatives for action against Hamas, and that Biden directed his team to continue working to inflict a "lasting defeat" on Hamas. (( Israel tried the U.S. suggestion, but was unable to convince the unicorns to enter the tunnels. ))
▪️LAG B’OMER IN MERON - CANCELLED.. due to the security situation and attacks by Hezbollah, Lag b’Omer celebrations by the Tomb of Rashbi are fully cancelled.
▪️WEEKEND PRO-DEAL PROTESTS.. in Tel Aviv, much smaller than last week.  Still thousands, loud, fires (this time flares).  As has become the practice, the protestors also broke out of their protest zone and blocked and lit fires in additional areas.
▪️EUROVISION.. is a big cultural deal for Israel.  Israel’s contestant, Eden Golan, has made the finals!
▪️THE AID PIER STILL HELD UP.. CNN: many weather delays - the US humanitarian wharf for Gaza suffers from challenges regarding the manpower to operate it. Britain changed its mind and withdrew from a plan to station armed soldiers in Gaza to unload aid due to security concerns.
🔸DEAL ACTIVITY..  Egypt calls on the delegations of Hamas and Israel, which left Cairo, to "show flexibility" in the negotiations.
.. CNN: In talks in Cairo, Hamas demanded that Israel agree in advance to a ceasefire and a pause of 12 weeks, not 6 weeks.
⚠️NORTH TO GET HOTTER.. Lebanese Al-Akhbar newspaper, close to Hezbollah: Iran gave an order to Hezbollah to step up against Israel, even at the cost of starting an all-out war.
♦️IDF ATTACKS.. IDF: during the last day the Air Force attacked and destroyed about 40 terrorist targets throughout Gaza including: military buildings, observation posts, terrorist squads and other military infrastructure.
♦️EAST RAFAH.. In east Rafah, troops located tunnel shafts, while the Armored Brigade killed gunmen in close-quarters combat and by calling in airstrikes in the area of the Rafah Crossing with Egypt.
♦️GAZANS EVACUATE.. Gazans: large numbers leaving Rafah, much more than what is reported on Al-Jazeera.  Gazans also leaving Rafah from areas not yet warned by the IDF, with the understanding that the operation would advance.
⭕ IRAQI THREAT FROM SYRIA.. the Iraqi Najabaa movement (a pro-Iranian Shiite militia) published that it will respond strongly to the Israeli attack this morning on its building in the Sayyidah Zaynab area in southern Damascus (Syria).
⭕ ANTI-TANK MISSILES.. fired into Israel, miss but started fires near Maayan Baruch.
⭕ HAMAS ROCKETS.. at Sufa, Holit.  It appears they have only short range from Rafah in recent attacks.
▪️BRAZIL CANCELS WEAPONS ORDER.. with Israeli weapons manufacturer Elbit, because Israel bad.
▪️UNRWA: We decided to close our offices in East Jerusalem after Israelis set fire to the compound twice.

What is a "motor carriage"
It's a good thing you didn't ask this of Interfacing -- he would have described them near-pornographically with zero substance.
A motor carriage (abbreviated as both 'MC' and 'car') is a type of passenger vehicle which is self-propelled, primarily transports one or more people rather than cargo, and may run mostly on roads created specifically for the thoroughfare of vehicular traffic. Popular brands that mass-manufacture MCs include the Coupris MotorCorp, Linnea and LUM, though there are a wide range which may range widely in price, power and style.
Motor carriages generate power using an internal combustion engine (ICE). These engines work by converting chemical energy into mechanical energy, or torque. The reaction of oxidizers mixing with a fuel and being ignited causes pistons to move up and down within a cylinder; the pistons are connected to and spin a crankshaft, which in turn rotates the wheels of the car and causes it to move. Most engines will contain anywhere between one to twelve cylinders and be four-stroke; this means they work by first drawing in the air-fuel mixture as the piston moves down (intake, induction or suction stroke), compresses the mixture as the piston moves up (compression stroke), the mixture is ignited forcing the piston down (combustion, power or ignition stroke), and then the spent mixture is pushed out through the exhaust port (exhaust or outlet stroke). Multicylinder engines will offset each individual cylinder's cycles to ensure the engine runs smoothly, and the cylinders will be arranged in either a line (such as in the KR18GU engine of the Coupris 40) or a V-shape (such as in the V12 engine of the Coupris Kineema).
MCs have several forward 'gears' which dictate how much power you would like to use from the engine. These range from 1 to 5, with 1 being low gear (generally used when you first start your MC to move it) and 5 being your highest gear. There is also neutral, which means you are in no gear, and reverse. The car is controlled using the brake, accelerator and clutch; brake slows the car, accelerate speeds it up, and clutch disconnects the wheels from the engine.
Modern motor-carriages are operated using two clutch levers, two brake levers attached to the aforementioned clutch, a gearshift pedal operated with the left foot, and an accelerator and differential lock operated with the right foot.
MCs are steered using a hybrid of clutch-brake steering and braked differential steering systems. Early MCs only used the clutch and brake to steer the car; rather than turning the wheels to change the direction it is moving in, power is disconnected from either one side or the other with a clutch. Some would also apply slipping of the brake in order to tighten the turn. One issue with this braking system was that, since the wheel is disconnected entirely, the average forward momentum is not maintained, and so the car would slow significantly; as well as this, on downslopes, sometimes declutching one side to turn would result in a turn in the opposite direction. An alternative, coming later, was braked differential steering; using a differential (a gear train which has the property of one shaft's rotational speed being the average of the others), braking power is applied to one side to turn the vehicle. This had an advantage over clutch-brake systems in that it would maintain the average speed, as the opposite wheel would speed up accordingly due to the differential. However, this system had a problem that, in the case of one wheel meeting a higher rolling resistance than another, the differential action would engage. In some models, particularly ones made for off-roading in rough terrain, this had to be solved by creating a differential lock to prevent unwanted differential action. Modern MCs use a clutch, brake and differential system with a differential lock.

Whumperless Whump Event- Day 20
It’s Not Fun If You’re Panicking
Stuck in an elevator/Claustrophobia/”Get me out”
“This isn’t funny. Get me out.”
Despite your words, you could still hear the faint cackle from whomever was on the other side of the doors. Much to your dismay. Yes, this was a rare situation, the logical side of your brain provided, under the noise of the fight or flight over coming the rest of your brain. Elevator failures are rare and the ones that do happen tend to involve the doors failing, or being stuck between floors in the shaft. Likely as a result of debris or some sort of manufacturing error that was subtle enough to pass inspection but present enough to create issues once in use.
… yeah, actually, that was not helping. You turned in a circle, studying the ceiling. There were no panels out. There was a little vent in the top and bottom of one wall to ensure that there’s consistent airflow even (or maybe especially) if the air systems are on. The door was still stuck in the weird inner door completely open, the exterior door mostly shut pose, giving you a lovely view of the mess of buttons and wires right below the floor that you’d been descending from.
An ugly layer of dust and oil covered the otherwise flawless last insection date. It wasn’t even last month. Which meant you were really, really unlucky with it. You weren’t going to die in the cramped space, probably. There was probably still a good failsafe or two to prevent the tomb of metal and stupidly floral smelling carpet from plummeting to the basement of the seven story building. Right. You blew a long, slow breath out.
Maybe if you had a bad enough breakdown, you’d get a seventy-two hour hold. Nice little vacy for your meltdown troubles.

Good evening. Three months into the war. This evening I want to explain the fighting in the Gaza Strip, the challenges of the war, and its duration. One of the war's goals is to dismantle Hamas. This means dismantling the military capabilities Hamas built over the years and used to carry out the barbaric massacre on October 7th. To understand the military operation in Gaza Strip, one must understand the enemy Hamas and how it operates.
Hamas is structured in battalions. Hamas battalions use a complex underground system with infrastructure to manufacture weapons, war rooms, command and control centers, and the capability to launch rockets from above and below ground. The terrorists move between different areas in the Gaza Strip using this infrastructure, allowing them to do so covertly. The enemy's strongholds are located under and near sensitive civilian sites like the Indonesian Hospital, which you see here in the film and next to it a school, used by Hamas as a human shield. Hamas terrorists move unarmed, dressed in civilian clothes, planting explosives for IDF forces in the streets and at the entrance to tunnel shafts. What does this fight look like in the field? This is the Gaza Strip. It covers 365 square kilometers, and its population is over two million people. This is the northern Gaza Strip, where we began our ground operation and have been fighting for the past three months. In the northern Gaza Strip, Hamas had two military brigades with 12 battalions in total, consisting of about 14,000 terrorists total. From Jabaliya, for example, hundreds of terrorists committed the murderous massacre in the communities of Sderot, Nir Am, Erez, Kfar Aza, and Netiv HaAsara on October 7th. They slaughtered civilians and abducted others to Jabaliya. Jabaliya is a densely populated area, as you can see in the film, with about 25,000 buildings. One in every ten such buildings is multi-story. Before entering such a dense area for combat, we evacuate the population, aiming to prevent harm and protect the civilians while allowing military action, as it deprives Hamas of protection under the guise of the population and allows us to distinguish between the population and Hamas terrorists and target them. This protects IDF forces and the uninvolved civilian population. After evacuating most of the residents, before IDF ground forces enter, the Israeli Air Force strikes threats to IDF forces. We struck underground infrastructure, terrorists, lookout posts, and explosive rigged houses. Just in Jabaliya alone, we struck about 670 air targets before the entry of the ground forces. We struck precisely, intelligence-based, and according to international law. All this allowed optimal entry conditions for IDF forces.
Dismantling Hamas consists of five objectives – the first and most important, eliminating Hamas commanders, thus impacting its command and control. In these strikes, in the Jabaliya area we eliminated the battalion commander, the deputy brigade commanders, and 11 company commanders leading the terrorists in the field. The senior terrorist we eliminated in the area is Ahmad Randor; you can see him here in the picture, sitting with his command echelon in his underground bunker, 40 meters underground. We precisely struck and eliminated all the people with him. Eliminating the commanders made it difficult for the terrorists to fight organized and led to many of them surrendering. The second objective is ground combat against the terrorists. IDF forces encircled and cleared the Jabaliya area, meaning the combination of Armored forces, about 200 tanks, Combat Engineering forces, Infantry forces, and special forces encircled the Jabaliya area from several directions simultaneously. All this with intelligence and air support from dozens of aircraft that strike any threat quickly. IDF ground forces directed the fighter jets that struck about 300 targets. This collaboration between the Israeli Air Force and the ground forces has not been seen in any war to date. Even at this moment as I speak with you here, Israeli Air Force jets continue to accompany ground forces and strike any threat to IDF forces. IDF soldiers on the ground are fighting bravely. They eliminate terrorist cells firing from within houses, tunnel openings, and alleyways; IDF forces fight close-quarter battles with terrorists. This footage, from the Go-Pro of a soldier wounded by a terrorist, shows the soldier rising, charging, and eliminating a terrorist. There are dozens of such operations in the field. Fighting terror is complex and costly. Sadly, it also costs the lives of IDF forces. We announced this evening the death of the late LTC Roee Yohay Yosef Mordechay, may his memory be a blessing. He was killed in an encounter with terrorists in the northern Gaza Strip. Roee was an outstanding commander and soldier. Before his death, it was agreed that he would be appointed Commanding Officer of the 50th Battalion of the Nahal Brigade. We embrace his family and all bereaved families and will continue to accompany them.
We learn from every event and improve in order to reduce the number of casualties. In every event where there are casualties in the field, IDF forces provide life-saving medical treatment and conduct rescue operations under fire and life-threatening conditions, with the help of medical teams and the 669 Airborne Rescue and Evacuation Unit of the Israeli Air Force. We have rescued hundreds of injured, saving their lives.
The third objective is to gather intelligence in the field. We have located computers, maps, communication devices, and found hard drives from which we downloaded about 70 million intelligence files, which are now being studied and analyzed by the Intelligence Directorate (J2) and the Israeli Security Agency (ISA). We interrogated many terrorists in the field, in collaboration with the ISA, working shoulder to shoulder, a practice that yields remarkable achievements in the war. In Jabaliya, many terrorists have surrendered, whom we are questioning. As a result of this, we have gathered intelligence about senior Hamas operatives, including documentation, as you can see in this picture, of Muhammad Deif, which we retrieved from a hard drive. This drive also contained information about senior Hamas operatives outside of Gaza. All of this provides us with vital intelligence for the continuation of the war.
The fourth objective is to locate and destroy rockets, weapons, and the sites where they are manufactured. We located and destroyed about 40,000 weapons across the Gaza Strip, some of which were found in schools, hospitals, mosques, and under the beds of children.
The fifth objective for dismantling Hamas is to destroy its underground infrastructure. In Jabaliya alone, we found 8 km of underground tunnels and more than 40 tunnel shafts. Inside the tunnels, we located Hamas’ northern headquarters near there, we retrieved the bodies of five hostages and brought them back to be buried in Israel. To combat the underground infrastructure, we deployed classified technological means, followed by special forces trained for the mission, and ultimately, as you can see, we also eliminated terrorists and destroyed the infrastructure inside the tunnels. We also operated in bases that Hamas had established in hospitals. These are bases Hamas thought we would avoid operating in, but they were mistaken. In two hospitals in the area, Kamal Adwan as you see in the picture, and the Indonesian Hospital, underground infrastructure, weapons, and military equipment were established. In both, we carried out special operations to dismantle the terror infrastructure, without harming doctors, medical teams, or patients. IDF forces were prepared with intelligence information in advance regarding locations where hostages were suspected to be and therefore did not strike them. We learned many lessons from the tragic event in which three hostages were killed, and we are training IDF forces for such encounters. The return of the hostages is a main goal of the war and a supreme national mission.
At the end of a stubborn and determined battle, we dismantled Hamas' military framework in Jabaliya. Hamas no longer operates in an organized manner in this area. We have deprived it of its main terror capabilities in the region. It is important for me to say to the public – there are still terrorists in Jabaliya. However, they now operate without a framework and without commanders. We have encountered and will continue to encounter sporadic rocket fire from this area. We have struck it and will continue to strike, deepening our achievements in these areas. This takes time. There are no shortcuts in fighting terror. Now think about what I showed you, about what we did in Jabaliya, and multiply it by eight areas that cover the entire northern part of the Gaza Strip, each with different terrain and challenges. This is why the task required three months. We have completed the dismantling of Hamas' military framework in the northern Gaza Strip and will continue to deepen the achievement, strengthening the barrier and the defense components along the security fence. Now, we are focusing on dismantling Hamas in the central and southern Gaza Strip. We will do this differently, thoroughly, based on the lessons we have learned from the fighting so far. The central camps area is dense and contains a lot of terrorists, and in Khan Yunis, there is an underground city of sprawling tunnels. We are applying the lessons we learned and continue to develop more creative ways to fight in the area, to eliminate terrorists, to destroy terror infrastructure and weapons above and below ground. This will take time. The fighting will continue throughout 2024, as we work according to a plan to achieve the war's objectives. To dismantle Hamas in the center and south and to continue with every intelligence, operational effort, and military pressure to return the hostages. Meanwhile, we are building defended areas to safely return our residents home.
I also want to refer to the last day in the north. Hezbollah, in its role, or the role it has taken upon itself as the protector of Hamas, fired today towards IDF bases in the north, with no casualties to IDF forces. We eliminated the terrorist cells that carried out the shooting and struck a series of targets including significant military compounds of the organization. We continue to be prepared with very high readiness in the north, in defense and offense.

Liveshows featured: "The Debate," "The Librarian," "The Investigators," "ALL HAIL."
CECIL: The City Council today issued a strong warning against the manufacture and sale of discount Bloodstones. They say that these Bloodstones of inferior design and construction have the potential to cause major accidents in even common, day-to-day chanting rituals. These accidents have included, in just the past few months, [...] the creation and subsequent obliteration of a mirror version of Night Vale, forcing all of us to watch our identical counterparts perish and thus confront the inevitability of our own futures. Anyone caught selling these Bloodstones will be put into the Dark Box, pending erasure from recorded history. The lesser charge of buying or possessing them, will be met with mere summary execution.
(Episode 11 - Wheat & Wheat By-Products)
CECIL: And now, a look at financial news. A fallow wheat field, grey sky, cut by black Vs of black birds. There is a child dragging a hatchet. His eyes cast down. His eyes tight. His eyes white and red and superfluous. He know not what he sees, but he knows what is there. A single black-wingéd beast, beak cracked, feathers rotting, alights roughly on the child's shoulder. They stop. The bird picks at the cartilage of the boy's ear, as if biting secrets into it. The boy groans, not unpleasantly. Heavy, slow clouds roll and rise, starkly contrasted against the flickering daguerreotype hills, which stoically keep the poisonous rains at bay. A sudden little river, partially walled by palsied shafts of grain, rolls by. The boy walks to it. He bends forward. His blank eyes stare into his reflection. Neither he nor his mirror knows the other is there. But the bird. The bird knows. The bird cackles. Or perhaps cries. Even the bird is uncertain. The boy takes a palm full of the dark water. Most of it runs out through his long, zig-zagging fingers. He licks the remainder from his dusty skin. A sound. Like thunder. Like drums. Like steps. The boy turns and hurls his hatchet behind him. The bird flies up and away. There is a hideous thump. The boy knows not what he has hit, but that it has been wounded. He waits for its retort. This has been financial news.
(Episode 19A - The Sandstorm)
KEVIN: This just in, Desert Bluffs: Mayor Pablo Mitchell has declared today Sandstorm Day. This massive sandstorm has already damaged several apartments and malls in the northwest part of town and it seems to be on course for even more costly wreckage. So Mayor Mitchell announced that we can all take today off of work. Today is a city-wide holiday. A second announcement, coming from a man that looked and dressed like the mayor said that we can make up some of our lost hours by teaming up with our doubles. The two joined together for an inspirational call to work together with these magical doppelgängers. Is this true Desert Bluffs? If so, what a blessed and wonderful event to bring us doubles of ourselves. I am stuck inside – doing a job I very much love, of course – but if I were you, I would run outside into the sandy afternoon air and try to meet your other. How exciting. So make friends with your mirrored colleague, Desert Bluffs! Think of what we could accomplish if there were two of all of us!
(Episode 19B - The Sandstorm)
FACELESS OLD WOMAN: I wish you could see me. Just cleaning and re-organizing. Making sense of the nonsense plants and muscles in your fridge. But you never look. If you would just glance left or right every so often, you'd see me. I'm right next to you, right now. I’m even in the mirrors. But you just stare at yourself. Staring only at your overripe potato of a face. I'm there in every mirror, if you could just look for me in the background behind you.
CECIL: Maybe you should try paying more attention when you're at home. Or better yet, destroy all of your mirrors. As my mother used to tell me: "Someone's going to kill you one day, Cecil, and it will involve a mirror. Mark my words, child." and then she would stare absently through my eyes until I giggled. I miss her so much.
(Episode 26 - Faceless Old Woman)
CECIL: Monday will be the annual Bluegrass Festival held in the burned out shell that used to be Louie Blasko’s Music Shoppe before he lit it on fire and skipped town with the insurance money. Participants can huddle among the ashen remains, casting haunting looks at each other and sharing some of their favorite bluegrass dirges. Legend has it that if you look into a mirror and say absolutely nothing three times, Louie himself will appear and teach the crowd some simple, easy bluegrass licks before taking your soul back with him into the dark of the mirror.
(Episode 27 - First Date)
CECIL: McDonald’s wants to remind you that the most important meal of the day is Breakfast. So why would you let a morning go by without staring deeply into the mirror until you no longer recognize the face staring back at you, mimicking your every gesture, mocking your every movement.
(Episode 30 - Dana)
TEENAGE CECIL: My mom seems really proud of me too. She hid from me for three days, the longest ever! And she’s covered all the mirrors in my house. I’m not sure why, but I think it must be because of pride. Being proud does all sorts of things to a...person. Uh, sorry, got distracted. That weird movement is back. It’s closer now.
TEENAGE CECIL: Interning is going great! Mom is gone. Leonard is super nice to me. My brother is gone too. Family, right? I think I’m learning a lot at the station. All of the mirrors in my house are uncovered now. Not sure who did that. I’m standing in front of the hall mirror right now. Am I changed? Am I becoming an adult? I look more grown, I think, more professional. Leonard said if I work hard, maybe I’ll be a radio presenter myself some day. Leonard said he once was smaller too, but that he is larger now, that everything is larger, that everything in the universe is growing to towering sizes, but all at once, all in unison, so no one notices and it is all the same relative to itself. Leonard lolls his tongue out of his thick purple lips. Leonard hisses. Being an intern is great. That flickering movement is everywhere now. Especially looking in this mirror. I see the flickering movement and I know. I know it. I think the radio station is fun. I think the radio station is hidden. I think the radio station is like a dark planet, lit by no sun. I think, therefore I soon won’t be. I’m looking in a mirror. The mirror is not covered. The flickering movement is just behind me. I- [He screams. There is gurgling. A body falls to the floor. Tape hiss continues. The tape shuts off. End teenage voice]
CECIL: No matter! I’m taking the tape, just now and I’m [GRUNTS] crushing it into little pieces. None of us have to think about it again. I’ll just double check that the mirror in the station bathroom is covered as usual and then that will be that. Done. Forgotten.
(Episode 33 - Cassette)
KEVIN: Well, what if I told you the smiling god was smiling more than ever. What if the smiling god had a smile so wide that you could see yourself in its mirrored teeth. And what if I told you that your gauzy reflection looked perfect. Just perfect.
(Episode 43 - Visitor)
CECIL: The City Council warned that the mess left from Leonard Burton’s death is likely to draw Street Cleaners and that we should all take shelter. Cover your mirrors. Shade your eyes. Stay indoors and mourn. Stay indoors and mourn.
(Episode 67 - [Best Of?])
CECIL QUOTING JANICE: "Uncle Cecil, I loved the opera so so much. Thanks for the tickets. I loved the part where the dragon flew out over the audience, like whoosh, and then it started fighting itself. The purple head started biting the other heads, and it was really funny. Then it flew away, out of the theater and there was a lot of fire. And I thought I saw an old lady with no face ran out too, and the mayor was saved, and Mr. Lee Marvin sang a beautiful song about all the animals we can see using mirrors, and then it was over and everyone cheered. Opera is cool. Mom said you were moving away. Why are you moving away, Uncle Cecil? Uncle Carlos says you don’t have to move if you don’t want to. Will you still come to my birthday party?"
(Episode 70B - Review)
CECIL: Item: Big Ricos Pizza is looking for a new cashier. Must have retail experience and be good at not talking if they know what’s good for them. No funny business. No secret wheat speakeasies. Why would you even bring that up? Who have you been talking to? To apply, look at yourself in the mirror for a long time, until your face no longer seems to be your own.
(Episode 87 - The Trial of Hiram McDaniels)
FACELESS OLD WOMAN: Yeah, she and I are best friends now. She's a lot of fun, really good poet. I gotta go. Steve Carlsberg is back home, and I want to stand behind him in the mirror when he bends down to wash his face. His shrieks are the funniest.
CECIL: I was so frightened, but still I looked into the washroom. He was standing in front of a mirror, looking right at himself. I never look into those things. Or at least I haven't in a long long time.  "I think the radio station is fun," he said. "I think the radio station is hidden. I think the radio station is like a dark planet, lit by no sun. I think, therefore I soon won’t be," he said.  I wanted to cry out to warn him. My mother told me to stay away from mirrors. And I knew he was in danger. I opened my mouth and tried to step into the room, but I could not speak, could not move forward.  "I’m looking in a mirror," he said.  "The mirror is not covered," he said. "Stop. Don't look into the mirror," I tried to say. But nothing came out of my mouth, only spit and inaudible wheeze. Tears stung my eyes. I waved frantically, trying to catch his attention. "The flickering movement is just behind me," he said. And then he looked right at me in the mirror. His eyes grew wide and wet. He said "I-. He said again "I-" and then he choked. Then he screamed. Then I screamed, only again no sound came out. He fell to the floor, and for a moment I remembered. I remembered blue lights and blood in my throat and a dark planet lit by no sun. And then I forgot it, or at least what it looked like, only that it was. Or never was. Or still is. His wallet was no longer in my studio. His...my driver’s license was no longer in my hand. My familiar teenage intern was no longer lying on the ground. The mirror he was looking into is now shattered into thousands of intersecting cracks like parched desert dirt. I approached the mirror, hoping to see a face I knew. A young man's face I just barely remember. But I only saw a multiplicity of me, a man divided, unrecognizably, under razor sharp lines. And behind me a glowing slash in the bathroom wall.
(Episode 106 - Filings)
CECIL: "Better not look in the mirror," Cal said as he nervously simulated the sound of laughter. A dribble of blood ran down his chin and onto his chest.
(Episode 108 - Cal)
CECIL: Sheriff Sam quietly grumbled this into their bathroom mirror before finally putting on makeup and facing their day.
(Episode 116 - Council Member Flynn, Part 3)
KEVIN: Jason and Falisha wanted their friends to know they were happy, so they began to practice smiling in the mirror, but even they couldn't see a change in their faces. Plus, mirrors were upsetting because of all the people who would gather behind them in the reflection but that weren't actually there when they turned around to face them.
KEVIN: Their long house was a long pit. And every single mirror in their home was gone, along with the ghastly figures who gathered in the reflections.
(Episode 120 - All Smiles' Eve)
CECIL: Nazr did not see Barks Ennui. But he was not without his own troubles. He would find, some evenings, that when he looked in the mirror there were two of him. One of him sitting behind the other. He would stand and the second reflection would stand too. It would follow all of his movements from behind his primary reflection. This went on for days. Then, one night, he looked in the mirror and there was only one of him. He sighed, feeling some relief to the tension that had been with him so long as to become his new normal. And that is when, in the mirror, his second reflection stepped into the room, followed by Frances Donaldson. Nazr whirled. The room he was in was empty. He looked back in the mirror. There was his own face, terrified. And behind that, on the bed, there was himself again, with Frances. The two of them were kissing, passionately. He watched himself kiss. And then his reflection and the Frances in the mirror stopped kissing and looked up at him, with startled faces. They stayed frozen that way, and he stayed frozen too. After several moments, the mirror couple smiled. Their smiles got wider and wider, and then they were both dead, blood covered and sprawling at irregular angles. And then they were alive again and smiling at him. He shouted and stumbled back from the mirror. From then on, he took to covering his mirrors, and that worked for a few days, but then one day he came home to find himself in his bedroom, already sitting in front of the covered bedroom mirror. The him that was in his bedroom looked up at him who had just entered with wide eyes and a yawning mouth, and Nazr (who believed himself to be the real Nazr) turned and walked out his house. He checked into a motel and decided to stay there for awhile.
CECIL: Barks continued: “Everything’s gone strange since you started dating. You know what I’m talking about.” “Maybe,” Nazr said, thinking of the mirrors in his home.
(Episode 122 - A Story of Love and Horror, Part 2: "Spire")
LAUREN: These shadows don't even have faces. We cannot discern their intentions or feelings. They move around in quick jerks and starts, flickering in and out of our vision, sometimes standing just behind us while slowly tilting their heads. And unless you're looking in a mirror, there's no way you can even see that.
(Episode 137 - The Mudstone Abyss, Part 3)
CECIL: That's not all. The fully immersive interactive theater segment is last. You will be blindfolded and placed in the back of a cargo truck. Hours later you will step off a wooden plank and be free to enter into the desert to try and find your way back home, just like the pioneers did it. You don't realize how the boardwalk is designed to be completely disorienting until this moment, when you step into the endless desert and look to all horizons and see only identical sagebrush and chaparral and nothingness, as if you've entered a mirrored funhouse made of only hot dirt.
(Episode 143 - Pioneer Days)
CECIL: Her final entry was on September 5 - “A man with a mirror for a face has come for me. He does not speak. Farewell.”
CECIL: On the anniversary of Eunomia's disappearance, an astronaut arrived in Night Vale. The early 19th Century villagers did not know what an astronaut was, so what they saw was a puffy silver humanoid with a mirror for a face.
(Episode 144 - The Dreamer)
LEONARD BURTON: Let me describe to you the shape of Cecil Palmer. He is a line of leafless mesquite trees. He is a glass factory. He is golf ball-sized hail. He has a voice like distant highway traffic. He loves coffee and handshakes. He wears tight clothing and has never once worked with modeling clay. He covers mirrors with cloth and has an irrational fear of glowing lights beneath locked doors in dark hallways.  You cannot know any of this because Cecil is my vision, not yours. He is real, all the same. He is to be my replacement when I retire. But he does not exist. So I can never retire. I am your permanent host.
LEONARD BURTON: An emissary has arrived in town to lead the parade. The emissary is an astronaut, bloated white arms and a mirror for a face. The emissary walks slowly through our empty city streets.
LEONARD BURTON: The parade of absent floats along empty streets led by a mirror-faced marshmallow of a grand marshall, approaches our radio station. I will enjoy getting to see the festivities up close and describing shapes out of the shapeless.
(Episode 148 - The Broadcaster)
CECIL: I work at a radio station and own a 14-speed bike. I have a one-bedroom apartment with a soaking tub, walk-in closet, carpet shredder, knife compiler, and a full-length mirror in the hallway. (It's an antique my mother handed down to me; she knows I love mirrors).
CECIL: So the guy I was telling you about earlier, Carlos, has been texting me this whole show, saying he wants to see me again. [reading] Something something my timeline is still wrong.... I should have a sister named Abby… here’s a photo her with some kid…  my mother died.... I supposedly am afraid of mirrors.... He and I are actually married?
CECIL: Outside my window I see the emissary, their oblong mirrored face pressed against the glass, each hand raised to their head, to block out glare from the sun.
CECIL: I can see myself in their reflective face. I... I do not like this. I do not like this at all. Please go. Please leave. I cannot. I... I am covering this window with a sheet. I do not like this mirror. I do not like it one bit. No.
(Episode 149 - The General)
LEE MARVIN: On the highway out of town, the cars are stopped dead, their drivers caught glancing at their phones, or scratching their ears and thinking about what would finally make them happy, or looking in the mirror and trying to gauge whether the car behind them belongs to the Sheriff’s Secret Police. Farther out, over the mountains and to the coast, the waves are stopped mid fall, foam caught rising, water caught tumbling.
(Episode 150 - The Birthday of Lee Marvin)
CECIL: At the end of the night, Josh wrote his number on The Boy’s red plastic cup in Sharpie and walked home smiling, even though it was late and he had to get up early the next morning to retake his driving test for the fifth time. He was 18 and still without a license. Every time he had taken the test before, he got nervous and turned into a shape that was utterly unfit to drive. A rhinoceros. A warm hug from an old friend. A bookshelf filled with first edition Zadie Smiths. “Ooh, I haven’t read Swing Time yet,” Shoshannah from the DMV had said, plucking the book off of him before failing him for not having eyes with which to check his mirrors.
(Episode 151 - Waterfall)
CECIL: ... [somber] and *that* is what I saw in the mirror that day, and why I do not like to go near mirrors ever.
(Episode 160 - The Weather)
CECIL: What a healthy baby," they said from behind a bulletproof two-way mirror as they operated the robotic arms that carefully held the infant aloft.
(Episode 162 - Alpha)
FACELESS OLD WOMAN: Also in the bathroom mirror you saw, crawling across the ceiling, a faceless old woman devouring what looked like a rat. You didn't need to worry about a rat infestation, Adi. It was a chipmunk.
FACELESS OLD WOMAN: You can all thank me later. Because you all will be seeing me soon. I think that tonight is the night to let slip my secret. You will soon see me fumbling wet and gray from out of the bathroom mirror, or folded up strangely, loose skin and mashed bones, in the bottom drawer of your dresser, or you will see me scuttle along your walls, the hair hanging down from my faceless face, or you will look out your kitchen window and there will be someone standing in your driveway, and it will be me, and then there will be no one in your driveway and instead I will be next to you in the kitchen, faceless and so very very old. Won’t that be nice.
(Episode 164 - The Faceless Old Woman (Live)
CECIL: Do you ever stare at yourself for so long in the mirror that you no longer understand what you look like? Is this the same effect as thinking about someone you miss so much that you forget the shape of their face? Why would you do that? Why would you refuse to maintain order? Are you refusing? Or are you a victim of your own mind? Do brain cells dictate souls? Is thought matter? Does thought matter? Who can say? Can the person looking back at you from the mirror tell you the answer? Just because you can see a person, does that mean that person exists?  Is it you you are looking at? Or is it someone else?
CECIL: Basically, why do I know I am me? How many times have I seen myself in the mirror? Is it bad that the answer is rarely? Shouldn’t we all be afraid of mirrors? Or is it just me? How many times, in a fit of dissociation, do we see someone else behind us? Are you, too, too afraid to turn around? Do you really want to challenge the veracity of your eyes? Do you think disbelief in death will make it disappear? Are awareness and manifestation one and the same? So, what did I see in the mirror today? Don’t we all see the same thing? Isn’t it a person who looks exactly like ourselves? And weren’t they making the same physical gestures? And behind that person, in the reflection, did you not also see, just over your shoulder, a pair of eyes? The curve of a head? And did you notice how that head was human in shape but maybe only a third the size?
CECIL: Who is behind you in the mirror? Or what is behind you? Should I speak in present or past tense? Is the face there? Or is the face gone now? Are you no longer at the mirror? Do you feel safer? Why do you assume that because you aren’t looking in the mirror right now that the tiny face and spiny digits are not still behind you?
CECIL: Are you thinking about it? Are you starting to forget exactly what it looks like? Do you want to go to the mirror again? Do you want to stare and stare at it until you can comprehend what it is?
CECIL: What if we went to the mirror together? If we don’t feel alone in our feelings, could we conquer our fears? Are we in agreement, you and I? What are you even looking at? Is your focus drifting to your shoulder? Can you not do that? Can you resist the urge? What will staring directly into your terror accomplish?
CECIL: When was the last time you saw your mother? It’s been since childhood, hasn’t it? Didn’t she warn you about mirrors? Didn’t she tell you they would be your demise? Or was that just a popular bedtime story?
CECIL: What did your mother tell you about swing sets? What did she say to you when you yelled to her for help? Did she lean over your sobbing face and ask you: “Why are you crying when you don’t even exist?” Did she tell you again about the mirror?
CECIL: Did you figure it out? Could you see past your own mental inventions? Who out there looked beyond the long, gape-jawed figure and its inexplicable whines? Did you see the table? There in the mirror image of your house, did you see the table? You hadn’t noticed the table before, had you?
CECIL: Why was the table only in the mirror? Why isn’t it real?
CECIL: What’s inside the drawer of the rickety table in the mirror? What other uncanny discoveries await you if you could just break through? Is it as simple as breaking through?
CECIL: Do you want to know what’s in the drawer below the table? Shouldn’t it be as easy to obtain as a lightweight, wool button up coat, all black? But nothing easy ever is, is it? How do you get to a table that’s right in front of you, but only visible in a mirror?
CECIL: Are you only concentrating on the table now? And you’re sure it only exists in the mirror? You double checked? Do you want to know what’s inside the drawer on the front of that table? Are you willing to break something? Are you willing to break the mirror, yes, but so much more? Are you willing to go to a place from which you cannot return? Are you willing to learn things you cannot unlearn? Do you have a hammer? Or if not, can you find something heavy that you can lift? Will you smash the mirror? Will you do it quickly? Why are you hesitating? Have you let your comfortability lapse into carelessness? Why did you take your eyes off the creature on your neck? Did you see the blood or feel the pain first? Is it tearing into your flesh? Is that why you’re screaming? Can you still break the mirror? Are you losing consciousness? Are you? Are you? Are you?
CECIL: If you look into the mirror you just smashed do you see that the creature is gone? Cool, right? But isn’t it strange that all about you on the floor are shards of the mirror you shattered, yet in front of you, the mirror remains, fully intact? Strange? Or scary? Wouldn’t you think that the mirror being simultaneously broken and unbroken is strange, while the fact that you have no reflection is scary? Is that true though? Do you have a reflection? Do you see yourself? On the floor of the mirror’s world? Is your body crumpled on the floor like a wet towel? Is your lower jaw hanging open because you died screaming, or because of gravity? Do you have a blanket of some sort? Why don’t you cover that mirror up? Why don’t you cover all the mirrors, in fact? While you are walking about your home, do you notice the antique table by the door, with its tarnished, yet ornate, brass bulb knob? Was that table always there? Did you enter the mirror world? Or were you always in the mirror world? What else is different around you?
CECIL: Now what? Will you cover the mirrors and sweep the floor and pretend it never happened? Will this prevent it from happening again? Are awareness and manifestation one and the same?
(Episode 171 - Go to the Mirror?)
MICHELLE: But there’s a new song I like. And it’s not cool like my other favorite songs. It’s not a song that fits the kind of image I like to project. When I put on my mirrored leggings, and my extra long jorts, and my really big hat, people expect something from me. They expect me to be on the cutting edge. They expect me to only be into bands that aren’t popular yet, or will never be popular, or that frankly don’t know how to play their instruments very well.
(Episode 175 - The October Monologues)
CECIL: While James is working on that, let’s get back to my favorite spooky Halloween stories. This one isn’t a story so much as a fun Halloween game: The Legend of Bloody Mary. According to the lore, if you turn off all the lights and stare into a mirror repeating “bloody mary” three times in a row, she will appear and tear your face off. I’ve never tried this, because I don’t own any mirrors, but my husband Carlos conducted this very experiment in his science lab. He said he darked the room and repeated the name and nothing happened for a long time. But then a figure of a woman appeared, silvery gray and shimmering. She approached Carlos slowly, her hollow white eyes never blinking.
(Episode 176 - The Autumn Specter)
SILAS: There’s something I don’t understand. She didn’t simply turn me into a cat. She could have made me her little furry domesticate. Truly toppled me. Instead, she put me in this body, far away, and gave me incredible powers. My fur is mostly needle-sharp quills. My skin, hard and scaly, almost armor-like. My eyes – I think there are 8 of them – allow me to see in a 360-degree clarity that nearly shatters my mind. I sometimes have wings or tentacles. How am I even a cat? Except, I am. I see my face here in the mirror, and I have pointy ears, and little white mitten feet, and a tail like an overused feather duster.
(Episode 196 - Silas the Thief, Part 2)
CECIL: We are each of us a hall of mirrors, exponentializing every little hurt until it overwhelms.
CECIL: Stay tuned next for an old episode of Frasier. It’s the one where Frasier finds the doorway to the Other Seattle in his bathroom mirror. May it bring you some comfort.
(Episode 202 - The Day After the Day)
CECIL: Whatever the Distant Prince keeps behind the Narrow Place has left me hollow and shambling. Less and less of me. This time quite literally. When I looked again, I did not have a nose. It is quite upsetting to see your own face but without a nose. Think about this now. Think about looking in the mirror and seeing your face, but the nose is gone. So you will understand why I vomited in the street. And this other me, he vomited too, for exactly the same amount of time, stopping precisely when I did.
(Episode 209 - The Black Coat)
CECIL: First, someone I’ve known my whole life, and you have too. It’s the Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home! Welcome! FACELESS OLD WOMAN: Hello. CECIL: And where are you? I can hear you, but I can’t see you. FACELESS OLD WOMAN: I’m behind you in a mirror, just over your shoulder in the distance. You’ll see slight movements in the dark. You’ll feel a single fingernail gently run across your cheek.
("The Debate")
FACELESS OLD WOMAN: I am less good at being seen, but I am working on that using a system of whistles and mirrors. CECIL: Huh. Mirrors.
CECIL: And since then, you have been appearing in frightened children’s mirrors to teach them the basics of music theory and some simple bluegrass licks before, uh, taking their souls with you into the dark of the mirror world. Is that right?
("The Librarian")
EARL HARLAN: Oh yes! Yes, I will wake up that morning, and I will stare at myself in the mirror repeating, “You can do this, Earl. You can do this, Earl. You can do this, Earl.” Until my reflection says, “You’re right.” And then we’ll brush each others’ teeth, and trim each others’ mustaches, and comb each others’ hair… CECIL: Awwww! EARL HARLAN: …and then step through the mirror and once again switch places in each others’ mirrored world for the day.
("The Investigators")
CECIL: Or you’ll be brushing your teeth and the Glow Cloud will just happen to pass by, and then you have to say all of that stuff with toothpaste in your mouth, you’re like [garbled] “All hail [unclear] cloud all hail the [unclear]”, [spits] and then you just end up with toothpaste all over your bathroom mirror.
JEFFREY: Yeah, yeah. Yeah turns out most people are afraid of what they are, so now I’m also terrified of mirrors and reflective surfaces, so…
("All Hail")

Motorcycles by BMW Motorrad
Since 1923, BMW Motorrad has been developing motorbikes. BMW's Corporate and Brand Development division is responsible for the brand. BMW Motorrad's sales set a new milestone in 2015. Its motorcycles are built for performance and quality and adhere to stringent environmental regulations. Continue reading to learn more about BMW motorcycles.
BMW motorcycles include flat-twin or boxer engines. The first BMW motorbikes were powered by flat-twin engines. To address cooling concerns, the BMW R32 was designed in 1923 with a longitudinally mounted four-86 cc flat-twin petrol engine. It had a power output of 6.3 kW (8 hp) and a top speed of 95 km/h (75 mph). The shaft drive, adjustable shocks, and single-sided swingarm were all features of this motorbike.
The BMW motorcycle engine, like the motorcycle industry, has evolved. It has progressed from single-cylinder machines to miniature twins. The R1100RS was the first serial-production BMW motorcycle to use a four-valve head. This engine is believed to have a lot of pulling power and run smoothly.
BMW's water-cooled cylinders and heads are a hybrid of air and water-cooled components. The water-cooled system decreases mechanical noise while improving combustion stability and lowering exhaust pollutants. The new BMW motorcycles have 125 horsepower and are powered by two compact radiators hidden inside the side fairing panels.
Boxers and flat-twin engines power BMW bikes in the R series. Other BMW motorcycles have air-cooled twin engines and classic Airheads with water-cooled heads. Furthermore, certain BMW motorcycles use a combination of air and water-cooled cylinders.
The R18 is powered by a newly built two-cylinder boxer engine dubbed "Big Boxer" by the firm. The new engine is based on the iconic boxer engines associated with BMW Motorrad for over 70 years. These engines are well-known for their high-performance technology as well as their dependability.
BMW is focused on producing low-emission bikes, such as hybrids and electric models. It also investigates the use of hydrogen engines and the development of greener fuels than standard fossil fuels. There are numerous models available that fulfill tight emissions regulations and fall into the lowest tax bracket. As a result, they may be eligible for eco-bonuses in various EU countries.
BMW bikes are well-known not only for their motors but also for their design and feel. From the body to the chassis, the business employs cutting-edge technology in every part of the bike. It thinks that a bike's concept and design attract customers rather than its motor.
BMW bikes are an excellent choice if you are considering purchasing a bike. These motorcycles are well-designed, dependable, and reasonably priced. While they are not the fastest, they provide exceptional performance and handling. If you need a bike for a short trip, BMW has several models.
If you're new to riding, the G310 GS is an excellent place to begin. It boasts a fun single-cylinder design and is reasonably priced. You can also try the F 750 GS, which has ABS and a parallel twin-cylinder engine with 90 horsepower. If you need more power, the S1000 XR has a 165-horsepower inline four-cylinder engine and is ideal for road-based touring.
BMW motorcycles are noted for providing outstanding comfort and a tailored fit. They're also recognized for having a lot of low-end torque. Many bikers swear by BMWs and can't imagine riding anything else. These bikes are built in Germany and are of high quality.
The BMW S1000RR is the best-rated sports bike. Before comprehensive commercial manufacture began in 2010, the WSB homologated RR sold over 1,000 units. This sports bike has a 193 horsepower engine with a 14,000-rpm redline and an assortment of electrical wizardry and traction control.
BMW began manufacturing aviation engines in the early twentieth century and released its first motorcycle in 1923. The firm still uses the flat-twin boxer engine design, and a variety of versions are produced. The R1200GS Adventure is one of its most popular models. These motorcycles accounted for roughly 28% of BMW's total annual production. In addition, the company manufactures chain-driven and shaft-driven variants with engines ranging in size from 310cc to 1,802cc. The business also produces motorcycles for dual-purpose, sport, and off-road use.

The Role of Debris Chutes in High-Rise Construction Projects
Tumblr media
The construction industry, especially in the context of high-rise buildings, presents unique challenges when it comes to managing waste and ensuring worker safety. In this article, we explore how debris chutes, also known as construction waste chutes, are transforming the way waste is handled in these projects, making construction sites safer and more efficient.
The Challenge of Waste Management in High-Rises
Imagine a high-rise construction site, where workers are working hundreds of feet above the ground. As they work, they generate a significant amount of waste, from concrete chunks to metal scraps and everything in between.
The traditional method of waste disposal involves workers manually carrying or throwing debris over the side, which not only poses safety risks but also leads to environmental concerns.
Safety Hazards:
Injury Risks: Workers below are at constant risk of being hit by falling debris, which can cause serious injuries or even fatalities.

Structural Integration: Construction chutes can be integrated into the building's structure during the early stages of construction or retrofitted to existing buildings. Ensure that the chutes are securely attached and aligned with the building's design.
Safety Measures: Prioritize worker safety during installation. Use appropriate safety gear and follow protocols to prevent accidents. Ensure the chute is securely fastened and does not obstruct other construction activities.
Professional Expertise: Engage experienced professionals or consult with Construction waste chute manufacturers like EnvCure for guidance on proper installation techniques. Their expertise ensures the system is set up correctly and efficiently.
Maintenance for Optimal Performance:
Regular Cleaning: Construction chutes should be cleaned regularly to prevent the buildup of waste material, which can cause blockages and hinder performance. Schedule periodic cleaning to maintain a smooth flow of waste.
Inspections: Conduct routine inspections to identify any signs of wear and tear, corrosion, or damage. Check for loose fittings and ensure all components are secure. Regular inspections can help catch potential issues early on.
Repairs and Replacements: In case of damage or normal wear, repair or replace parts promptly. Keep a stock of essential spare parts to minimize downtime. Regular maintenance extends the chute's lifespan and ensures its reliability.
Training and Documentation: Provide training to workers on basic maintenance tasks and the importance of keeping the chute clear of obstructions. Maintain records of maintenance activities for future reference.
Benefits of Using Construction Waste in High-Rise Projects
Improved Safety Standards: With debris chutes, construction companies can significantly enhance their safety protocols, reducing the likelihood of accidents and injuries related to waste disposal.
Environmental Compliance: These chutes help construction sites adhere to environmental regulations by minimizing air pollution and properly managing waste.
Increased Efficiency: The streamlined waste management process speeds up construction, allowing projects to be completed ahead of schedule.
Cost-Effectiveness: By saving time and reducing labor costs, Construction waste contributes to the overall cost-efficiency of construction projects.

The Future of Industrial Valves Procurement Intelligence: Trends to Watch
The industrial valves category is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of 5.7% from 2023 to 2030. The growth in the category is mainly driven by the rising usage of valves in power, oil & gas, metalworking, and chemical industries. To keep up with the growing demand, valve producers must lower fabrication costs while keeping up with the industry’s trends and innovation. Innovations such as control valves, smart valves, automatic valves, and valves with integrated electronics are expected to drive the category demand.
Automatic valves encompassing electric, hydraulic, pneumatic, solenoid, and digital mechanisms are increasingly favored by manufacturing facilities seeking unmanned operations with precise flow control. The primary benefit associated with automatic valves lies in their advanced preventive maintenance capability, effectively reducing the frequency of operational disruptions compared to traditional valves.
The industrial Internet of Things consists of smart valves that have actuators mounted with digital valve positioners that can detect leaks and regulate flow rates. The positioner acts as an interpreter between the control system and the control valve assembly. The positioner receives signals from the control system and adjusts the air to the actuator. Further, the actuator moves the valve to the appropriate position. The positioner can also send feedback received from the valve stem or shaft.
The future of industrial valve manufacturing is anticipated to focus on eco-friendly practices and energy efficiency. Valve suppliers can contribute to the reduction of carbon footprint by designing it with low energy consumption and improved leak detection capabilities. Sustainable processes such as waste reduction and recycling will also contribute to the industry’s greener future.

The production of industrial valves involves the manufacturing of valve bodies, stem, and seat. These parts are produced by the casting method. Some manufacturers also use the forged method, which involves cutting & forging, trimming, sandblasting, machining, and surface treatment. Raw material, labor, machinery, land, utility, transportation, and others are some of the key cost components in the production of industrial valves. Raw materials such as cast iron, ductile iron, carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, and others are used to manufacture valves. In 2021, the global price of cast iron was between USD 0.06 – USD 0.07/lb. In 2021, the prices of both raw materials (iron ore and steel) increased due to which valve manufacturers had to hike prices to keep up with the rising production and distribution costs.
Italy, Spain, and India are the hubs of valve manufacturing. In 2023, the prices of industrial valves in China were between USD 20 – 1000 per piece. In June 2023, the prices of valves in the U.S. amounted to USD 22,161 per ton. In 2021, China, Germany, and the U.S. were the top valves exporting countries.
Suppliers of raw materials and components may have some bargaining power, especially if they provide specialized materials or components. However, the industry often has multiple suppliers, reducing dependency on any one supplier. Additionally, backward integration is possible for some valve manufacturers, reducing supplier power.
In terms of industrial valve manufacturing, the hybrid model is a popular engagement model in the category, combining in-house and full-service outsourcing. Some suppliers opt for a partial outsourcing model. Companies outsource operations such as raw material procurement, and transportation services. Companies employ an in-house team for a complete manufacturing line from designing valves, assembly lines, and quality testing which can be beneficial for the company. Developing a strong relationship with suppliers of raw materials and evaluating suppliers with experience and expertise in valve manufacturing, range of products offered, compliance with certifications, and industry standards such as ISO, API 600, and others, customization capabilities, after-sales support, and service are the best sourcing practices in the category.
