No Man is an Island
(Paternal Platonic Yandere oc & Injured Teenage Genderneutral Reader)
You and a small group of people are left stranded on an island, struggling to survive. One member of the group, Henry, has grown a paternal attachment towards you and has taken on the task of caring for you, but are his intentions truly as benevolent as they seem, or is there something much more selfish behind them?
Content warnings: injury, plane crashes, talks car accidents, coma, and child death, and general yandere shenanigans
Authors Note: This is much more chill then what I usually write. Don't be fooled, though, this dude is still messed up lol
You were on a plane alone, flying back to see your parents when the plane begins to experience severe turbulence. The captain tries to reassure everyone that things are under control, but it only gets worse. It feels like you're in the middle of an earthquake. Oxygen masks fall from the ceiling, and you can barely put yours on before blacking out
You wake up to a horrible, throbbing pain in your leg, and a sticky, humid feeling everywhere else
You're near the shoreline of the beach, a canopy of tropical trees shielding you from the sun. Turning your head, you could make out the main wreckage of the plane. There's a crudely made splint on your left leg, which is swollen and covered in bruises. There are no people in sight
Panicking, you start yelling, trying to find someone, anyone to help you understand what's happening
A middle-aged, gruff looking man comes from the wreckage. He introduces himself as Henry and helps you calm down before explaining the situation to you
The plane had crashed on an unihabited island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, an unknown distance away from the mainland. All of the crew were dead, and most of the passengers were as well. The only people who survived were you, Henry, and no more than ten other people, all variously injured
None where as injured as you, though. Henry says that you had most likely broken your left fibula and tibia when the plane crashed. As the bone hadn't broke through your skin, he says that it should heal on its own, but it would take months, most of it spent on bed rest
The first few days were the roughest. You spent your time in a haze of pain and heat from the brutal and humid temperatures from the island. It was hard to make yourself eat, and you often felt like you never had enough to drink, as your group had decided to ration the fresh water and food that was scavenged from the crash
The other survivors didn't interact with you often. It wasn't on purpose, but they were too busy working to make this place temporarily habitable, and they had no time to think of an injured person who couldn't help them. Plus, you weren't much for conversation anyway, given your current state
The only person you did see regularly was Henry. He checked on you often throughout the day, acting much like your self-appointed doctor. He seemed to have a basic understanding of what medical care to provide you, though, so you weren't about to protest
His bedside manner was good as well, knowing when you were in too much pain to make conversation and when you were lucid enough to want company. He was your only source of companionship for those first few days, being the one to bring you your daily rations of airplane pretzels and coconut water and make sure you were eating.
Whether it was the pain subsiding or you simply adjusting to it, you began to pull yourself out of your pain driven stupor and started talking to Henry more, out of the pure loneliness and boredom of your situation
He was very easy to talk to despite his outwardly serious and borderline intimating disposition. As you talked to him more, you found him to be friendly and a bit corny, occasionally cracking a stupid dad joke or pulling light-hearted pranks on you. He seemed fairly competent at reading people, able to sense your loneliness, and often encouraging you to open up whenever he had the chance to talk
You didn't know if it was out of genuine interest or pity for your circumstances, but you found you couldn't refuse his company. Before you knew it, you started oversharing about your life. Within the next two weeks, he knew pretty much every major thing about you, from your family, your hobbies, where you lived, what your future goals and aspirations were, and so on
On the other hand, he seemed more reluctant to open up, often getting quiet or withdrawn when your questions got too personal, with what constituting 'personal' varying. You eventually picked up that something troubling must of happened to him in his past involving his family, so you stopped pushing, letting him bring up his past on his own time
Outside of superficial facts about him, the only thing you knew was that he was a former US Army Special Forces survival expert, which was how he knew how to treat your injury, and how he knew how to survive on the island
When you were feeling well enough, he would teach you some of survival knowledge he had, teaching you different fire starting methods, how to build a lean-to, and how to crack open a coconut to get the milk. He seemed rather anxious about watching you wield his knife, though, so he did that for you when he could
Things take a turn for the better as the group finds decent shelter that isn't the plane wreckage in the form of uninhabited caves in the heart of the island, along with a waterfall spouting drinkable water
Some are reluctant to leave the shoreline, as the group had taken to maintaining a bonfire there to hopefully signal passing planes or boats for help. A compromise was reached where they would move to the caves and would continue to maintain the fire in shifts
The trek towards the caverns was especially hard on you. The rest of the survivors had gone ahead to carry the supplies to the caverns, leaving Henry to guide you through the thick foilage and uneven terrain
Henry had given you a walking stick to aid your journey, but because of your prolonged bedrest, there were often times you had to be carried, making the journey a slow and tedious one. You apologized, but he brushed it aside, saying he didn't mind, as he often had to carry much heavier loads in the army. He then went on to tell you cherry picked stories from his time in the military to distract you until you reached the caves
He had decided that it would be best for you to sleep near him, in case you needed assistance or if there was an emergency. His reasoning seemed sound, and you were inclined to trust him after all this time, so you agreed
With this newfound stability, things finally seemed to slow down, as people weren't constantly threatened with death by starvation, dehydration, or exposure
This was also the time that the other survivors began to talk to you more regularly
It was how you learned that Henry had become the defacto leader of sorts, given he was the most qualified out of the group. People often came to you to see if he was there whenever they needed him, asking you to pass messages along to him when he wasn't there. Which was pretty often, given how he was usually the person to help gather food or scout out new parts of the island
It was after one of these outings that you began to learn more about him
It had been a rainy, stormy day, which made the groups whole mood sour. Henry was out with a small group to gather food, and you were with the rest of the survivors, hanging out in the main cave
It was easy to overhear conversations in the main cave, noise often bouncing about the walls. It's how you and the rest of the people in there were forced to listen to a heated conversation developing between two of your members
Apparently, one of the more toublesome people of your group had been caught stealing from one of the other members of the cave. Their talking turned to arguing, and the arguing became shouting, which became shoving, which was steadily growing more violent by the second
Some had tried to break up the fight while everyone else had managed to move away except you, who could only slowly hobble away
A fellow survivor was trying to usher you away when someone knocked into you, causing you to fall and hit your head on the cavern floor. You lost consciousness
When you woke, the first thing you noticed was the pain in your head, throbing like a pulse. The second was that you were back in your bed (if you could call a platform of crushed bamboo and palm leaves a bed), a blanket tucked to your chin. The third were the footsteps of Henry as he came over to kneel beside you, his face creased in thought and worry
He then went to question you on how you were feeling, if you knew who you were, if you remembered what happened, as well as checking your eyes and testing your muscles and general coordination
It was only after he was satisfied you didn't have any severe brain injury that he finally relaxed and explained what happened
After you were knocked unconscious, the fighting had stopped, and you had been taken back to your part of the cave to be taken care of as they waited for Henry and his group to arrive
The conversation then faded into silence, as you were too caught up in your pain to keep talking. You closed your eyes and laid back down
It wasn't until later that night that you finally noticed that Henry was still in the room, watching you, face blank and motionless as if he were in another world. You've never seen him look that way before
You nudge him and he startles, completely caught off guard, apologizing for worrying you
You ask him what's wrong, and instead of brushing your question off like he usually does, he hesitates before going on to speak about the family he used to have, a wife and a child, who he loved dearly. One day, they ended up in a car crash. He lived with minimal injuries, but his wife died, and his child ended up brain dead with no hope of recovery. He had kept the child on life support for months before finally pulling the plug
"When I was waiting for you to wake up, it was like I was back in the hospital, hoping beyond hope that a miracle would happen, and I would see them open their eyes again... Y'know, it's the craziest thing. While I was watching you, I kept thinking about how they would've been your age if they were still here. They would of looked just like you."
You apologize, unable to think of anything else to say. He waves it off and tells you not to mind what he said and to go to bed. He was still sitting and watching you as you fell asleep
About five months after the crash, when the group had started to lose hope of there being a rescue, someone had spotted a plane flying across the night sky
Everyone scrambled to strengthen the bonfire on the shore, yelling at the sky in a desperate attempt to be noticed
With Henry's help, you made your way to the fire as well, propping yourself up with a walking stick to keep your weight off your broken leg, waving your free arm to the sky as you joined in the shouting
But it didn't matter. The plane flew away, disappearing into the dark
Some people cried, others flew into a rage, and the rest didn't say a word. Eventually, people slowly made their way back to the caves, disheartened at their loss
After a few hours, it was just you and Henry left on the shore, the dying embers of the fire next to you as you both stared at the sky. He seemed content
You break the silence and ask him if he thinks there will ever be another opportunity for rescue
"I don't know, but I doubt it. With how long it's been, that plane probably wasn't searching for us. We probably won't see another one anytime soon."
"You don't sound too broken up about it" you say.
"I guess I'm not. If you can overlook the heat, this place ain't half bad. Fresh seafood, clean water, a built-in shelter, and 24/7 access to my own private beach. Shit, I don't even have to pay taxes anymore, either. This is the closest thing to paradise I'll ever find."
"You can't mean that, right? We can't stay here forever."
"Of course we can. We have everything we could need. Plenty of people have lived in worse places."
That's not what I mean, what about my family? I want to go home!
The mention of your family leaves him stunned, like he forgot they existed. He quickly regains his bearings and continues
"I don't mean to make you upset, kid, but I think you're misunderstanding me. I know it hurts now, but there's nothing stopping you from living a happy life here. You've got food, a roof over your head, and someone to take care of you, what more could someone ask for?"
You don't reply. Sensing your darkening mood, he offers to help walk you back, and you accept, both of you slowly making your way through the foilage in silence
You fail to notice that the fire was left unattended and how it had slowly died out, leaving the island invisible to any help that could pass by
The next morning, no one bothers to reignite the fire
Afternoon rolls around and Henry leaves, going to fish for your next meal. You pray it isn't sea cucmbers again
Someone comes up to you, asking for some cordage they had lent to Henry. Instead of waiting for him to come back, you decide to search for it yourself
You search his part of the cave and almost give up before spotting a bag hidden in a crevice of the cave. It was so well hidden, you're afraid you might lose sight of it if you turn away. What could he have in there? You're almost certain Henry wouldn't keep rope tucked so far out of sight. But you couldn't help your curiousity. You've been in here countless times, how didn't you notice this? Against your better judgment, you open the bag
You don't find the cordage
Instead, inside the small bag is the bright orange of a flare gun and several unused flare cartridges
#a bit of an abrupt ending but what can you do lol#yandere#platonic yandere#gender neutral reader#yandere oc x reader#yandere platonic#yandere original character

normally I love getting emails from students telling me my class helped or came up in their life in some way - but the number of emails I've gotten from students over the years telling me they used the evac shopping list or the bug out bags we made in my geo hazards class is pretty horrific and the reason I'm going to gently poke you all and ask you:
how much drinkable water do you have on hand if your water stops working? (aim for 3 gallons per person per day)
do you have a physical copy of a map with at least two evacuation routes should internet or your phones not work?
how much food do you have that is non-perishable and easy to travel with and are the expiration dates still good? (2k calories per person per day)
do you have at least two flashlights with fresh batteries and replacement batteries?
do you have a pair of more rugged clothes you can easily grab that you know will fit you and be weather appropriate for the season?
do you have a carrier(s) that fits (all) your pet(s) comfortably for long periods of time?
do you have a bag set aside with a dental hygiene and standard hygiene items you could easily grab?
is your first aid kid freshly stocked with more than just bandaids and checked for expired items? are your prescription meds easy to get to and add to this if needed? do you have pain killers, tummy trouble pills, antihistamines, splints, ACE bandages, medical tape, & alcohol wipes (these are my most used items in the field)
where are your important papers (passports, insurance papers, proof of ownership, birth certificates, important photos, etc) and are they ready to travel if need be?
if you're in an area with cold temps do you have thermal blankets or normal ones?
do you have toilet paper and menstrual items? because restroom restocking/cleaning is not a priority for most places in a disaster situation and sometimes you don't even get the luxury of having a restroom.
do you have a back up power bank?
weird items you might not have in your go bag but might want to consider:
PPE eye covers like lab goggles or even swimmers goggles if you're in fire zone - it can help prevent eye irritation in smokey areas
DUCT TAPE. DUCT TAPE. DUCT TAPE. ADD IT TO YOUR BAG NOW.
disposable face masks - don't breathe in smoke
silverware/utensils - you can eat food right from a can but silverware takes up minimal space
headlamps like hikers/bikers/ya girl uses - SUPER USEFUL and it keeps your hands free
a whistle
solar power stations (I have a Jackery brand solar power station for the field and this thing is a work horse - 10/10 do recommend)
chemical cold packs/hot packs
pocket knife
cash (apple pay and cards aren't always accepted in emergencies)
barter items (cash isn't always accepted or useful in emergencies) like tiny airplane bottles of booze, big bottles of booze, cigarette packs, extra medical supplies, batteries, duct tape, toilet paper)
pashminas/scarves/shemagh - useful in more than one way
& a question people sometimes forget: can you easily lift and carry the bag that contains these items? a 75lb/45kg bag of gear will do you no good if you can't pick it up and take it with you in an emergency.

found in the sand: chapter one
a davejade fic
Dave Strider was not afraid of airplanes. That’d be silly. That’d be ridiculous.
He wasn’t afraid of airplanes and he wasn’t afraid of heights, not even a little bit, so, obviously, flying from Houstin to New York alone for the first time wasn’t even that scary. He lived in a Saw trap-ass apartment with a man who thought peak comedy was putting weapons behind doors, he wasn’t scared of some flying metal tube, and he definitely wasn’t on the verge of tears just watching the clouds go past.
He wasn’t in the window seat, obviously, he took aisle, so he could get up and piss if he had to. He had his apple juice in one hand, his phone in the other, his earbuds in, his music blasting, and he was not afraid.
And then, for just a second, the lights flickered and the cabin shuddered. He jolted, splashing his apple juice all over himself and the woman next to him. She let out an indignant gasp, and he muttered something that could have sounded like an apology, unclipping his seatbelt and standing shakily. No, not shakily. He stood easily, loosely, his now empty cup hanging casually at his side, his phone sliding into his pocket like it was second nature. And then he calmly walked to the back of the plane, to the bathrooms.
They were both occupied, so he carefully arranged his body into a casual lean and slipped his phone back out of his pocket again, checking notifications. None, obviously. Cool.
The bathroom door opened and he nodded to the man who stepped out, slipping past him and into the cramped and small restroom. Because, here’s the thing. Even if Dave Strider was afraid of heights, he was much less afraid of small spaces where he could forget the heights.
Calmly, chilly, he used the toilet, flushed, and turned to the sink to wash his hands. For a brief second, he glanced at himself in the mirror, took in his dark skin and bleach fried hair, the acne on his cheeks, the massively oversized hoodie he wore. He looked like a tiny kid, he thought. Lame.
The cabin shuddered again, and he clung to the sink to wait it out. But it didn’t stop. Suddenly, he was violently tossed back, slammed against the wall. There was an impossibly loud sound coming from outside the bathroom, like a jet engine had plopped itself in the middle of the cabin. He scrambled for the door, trying to rip it open, but it wouldn’t budge. The plane was flailing violently, like it was being batted around in the air.
His elbow struck the wall and he screamed as he felt the bone of his upper arm splinter.
And then everything seemed to stop.
He was suspended in air, like in a moment of flight of his own, and he could feel his heartbeat. Thud thud. Thud thud. And then he was slammed to the floor, and everything went dark.
There were flashes after that.
A glaring green light.
A cold pain sinking into his bones.
Water in his lungs.
He didn’t want to die.
He didn’t want to die.
He didn’t want to die.
He woke up on a beach.
It was beautiful, beautiful in a way nothing else ever had been. The sand was so fine and white, the shells whole and uncrushed. The waves that lapped at his legs were warm and gentle, and the clouds overhead were impossibly soft looking.
He heard footsteps, and a gasp, and a bark. And then he was out again.
He woke up again, and this time, he was in a bed, a soft one, one that felt like actual heaven against his skin. His right arm was splinted, his cheek covered in a bandage, and from what he could feel under the blankets, his ankle was in a cast too. He felt… sick wasn’t quite the right term. He felt great, probably better than he should feel based on the situation, but at the same time, he was queasy, and his head hurt, and he was nervous enough he thought he was going to pass out again.
But he didn’t.
He sat up, and he looked around.
His bro had trained him well, he knew what to look for in a room.
It was… not what he would have expected. It wasn’t a hospital room, or a grungy basement with cameras set up to monitor him. It was an ornate, vintage style bedroom, with draping, gauzy curtains around the bed that didn’t really obstruct the view, but still seemed to keep in warmth. There was a large window seat across the room, and the window let in a slight breeze. A great unlit fireplace sat to his left, a giant globe in front of it, a taxidermied moose head above it. The walls were lined with bookcases, most of which didn’t have actual books on them, but rather small trinkets and tidbits, boxes and animal skulls and a couple fake human skulls. Or at least he assumed they were fake.
There were no weapons to look out for, no obvious traps.
He pushed aside the curtains, swung his legs out of bed, and carefully put some weight on them. His ankle was sore, but it didn’t feel… well, not really broken? Like, maybe a light sprain, but nothing that constituted a cast.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and a dog and a girl waltzed in. The dog, a massive, muttlike white thing immediately seemed to spot Dave and tensed, ears going back. It took Dave a moment to realize how improbable this was since it clearly didn’t have eyes. The girl, on the other hand…
She was tall, maybe taller than Dave, but she couldn’t be much older. She was wearing a pair of muddy overalls, some boots and a tank top. Her long, wild black hair was back in a braid, her glasses sliding down her long crooked nose. She tilted her head at him, an unreadable expression on her face.
“Hey,” Dave said, smoothly and calmly, his voice hardly cracking at all. “I- uh… I don’t think my ankle’s broken.”
“Not anymore, silly,” The girl laughed, abruptly, her stern expression fading. “I fixed it. You’re welcome.”
“Wh-” Dave blinked, slowly. “How long was I…”
“Only a month or so.”
“A month?” He spluttered. “That can’t be- no way.”
“What?” She frowned. “What do you mean? Twenty seven days, that’s almost a month.”
“I passed out- I wasn’t connected to an IV or anything was I? How’d I not starve, huh?”
She shrugged. “I ‘unno. But you’re fine.”
“Yeah, I don’t fucking believe you. Where the fuck am I, anyways?”
“Uhh… my grandpa's room?” She tilted her head.
“No, like… Texas, or Arkansas, or, like, fucking Washington or some shit?”
“Oh, you’re not in America, I don’t think. You’re on Harley Island.”
“Harley what?”
“It’s in the Pacific.”
“... You’re tripping. There’s no way… I’m supposed to be in Houstin, what…” He suddenly found it remarkably hard to breathe. “How… how do I call my dad, tell him where I am?”
“You can’t, there’s no cell signal, and our landline stopped working ages ago.”
“Okay, is there a government, or is this like… what level of island is this? How desert does a desert island gotta be?”
“It’s just me.”
He blinked, slowly. “No it’s not.”
“Um,” She blinked back. “Yeah it is?”
“No, it’s not. You just talked about your grandpa-”
“-Who died ten years ago,” She cut him off. “Do you really think I’d lie about this?”
“Yes!”
“Why?”
“Because… because… how old are you?”
“Sixteen.”
“You’re my age and you’re living on a desert island, alone.”
“It’s more of a jungle island,” She shrugged. “And I think my brother’s somewhere out there, but I haven’t seen him in a year or two.”
“If you were living alone, you’d be wearing, like, leaves and shit. And living in trees.”
“That’s dumb,” She tilted her head. “Okay, I’m done with this conversation. I think I don’t actually care whether you believe me, so I’m walking away. I have to go check on the garden and feed Bec, here. You can come with, if you want.”
“I don’t want.”
“Fine.” She shrugged, unphased, and with that, she left.
He huffed, reaching down and easily tugging off the cast around his ankle. He was wearing a comfy pair of red pj pants and a black shirt that was definitely not his.
The room was suddenly very cold, and very empty.
He shivered, grabbing a soft fluffy blanket that lay over the heavy comforter, wrapped it around his shoulders and started after the strange girl.
“Wait,” He called. “I’m comin’, hold on.”
The girl had apparently not gone very far, just a few steps down the hallway. She smiled at him as he caught up, trying to put his chin up and shoulders back. She just snorted and shook her head.
“Come on, dork,” She grinned, revealing crooked teeth. “I’ll give you a tour.”
“My name’s Dave,” He said, shrugging as best as he could with his arm bundled up against his chest. “By the way.”
“Jade.”

highlights from watching the yeti movie that scared the shit out of me when i was little and caused a long lasting fear of yetis/sasquatch:
• guy who died by falling out of plane before yeti even appeared (loser)
• one guy breaks both of his legs, has to use his boyfriend's arm as a splint and his radio as another splint and is alone for five days
• they have to resort to cannibalism but only take the tiniest fucking amount of human meat possible and then the only lady who is opposed to cannibalism burns all the bodies so nobody can fucking eat them
• yeti has shitty cgi jumping animations
• he's strong enough to throw half a plane off a mountain but then the hero protagonist dude tackles him to the ground which i think is unrealistic
• they throw fucking snowballs at the yeti at least twice
• the guy who broke both his legs managed to get back to camp but the antag (not the yeti one) SHOOTS HIM in the eye assuming he is the yeti
• there's two people who literally just stand there and don't run away or anything staring at the yeti screaming and he kills one of them by ripping out his still beating heart
• the human antag gets next to no repercussions for his shitty actions but the thing that finally makes protag punch him and beat him up is that he stole a chocolate bar. this is After he shot that other guy.
• i spent the whole movie not knowing anyones name except for dennis who was in the airplane bathroom during the plane crash. he is the one who got his heart ripped out
• at the end of the movie it turned out the guy who broke both his legs and got shot in the eye actually LIVED and was abandoned because they just assumed he was dead and they got rescued without him
#why did the authors hate THAT GUY IN PARTICULAR like he didn't even do anything wrong AHDHDHFH#they just tortured the guy for no reason hello 😭😭😭😭#anyway it's about as shitty as i thought it would be; i knew it wouldn't actually be scary and little me was just a pussy#but oh my god it was so Funny. sometimes when i rewatch stuff like this it turns out to be super boring#but this one was so fun to watch it was so bad that it was good

5 chapters ago, Mac and Jack arrived at exfil to discover their exfil team had been murdered and the bad guys were lying in wait. A gunshot wound (or 2!), a plane crash, and a couple busted legs later, things are getting desperate...
The hike toward the building that Mac may or may not have seen from the air is slow going. Even now that the morphine’s kicked in, and Jack’s able to walk under his own power, their pace is snail-slow.
The stream they’re following zig-zags through the snowy landscape. They’re heading upstream, or what would be upstream if they could see any water. It’s cold enough, and the water movement slow enough, that the stream is frozen over and mostly hidden under piles of snow. It must be a larger stream in other seasons because the banks are wide and relatively flat. It’s a lucky break because any more difficult terrain might be impossible right now.
Between the splint, the drugs, the walking sticks, Jack remains upright and moving. But he’s dragging. Every step is slow and unsteady. He’s breathing harshly and they’re moving incredibly slowly.
If Mac helped him, they’d move faster. But Mac is struggling to keep his balance and carry the supplies.
The way the stream curves around trees, the airplane is out of sight quickly in spite of the slow pace. Mac briefly considers leaving a cairn to mark their direction, for when Phoenix exfil comes to find them, but it’s equally likely to lead any bad guys toward them, so he skips it. Not that it probably matters, since they’ve left a very visible trail of footsteps and he’s not up to disguising it right now.
Maybe he’ll come back later, or tomorrow, after he gets Jack settled.
At least there’s water nearby; the emergency kit has some, but they’ll need more tomorrow if nobody comes for them before then. The stream will provide that, at least until they run out of water treatment tablets. They also have fairly fresh snow. As long as they can find shelter, they can figure out the rest.
Ahead of him, Jack comes even with a tree that leans over the streambed and stops to rest against it. Mac comes up next to him and eyes the tree, but it’s not big enough for them both to lean on. He lets out a long breath and appreciates how he can just not move for a couple minutes.
“How are you doing?” he asks.
Jack’s whole body radiates exhaustion. In spite of the slow pace and the chill, his forehead has a sheen of sweat and he’s breathing like he’s been exercising. “‘M good. Just need a minute.” He’s standing stiffly, mouth pulled into a line.

Outsiders, Owen POV, episode 18
recap of episode 17
Ori won the fight, god dammit
flashback - Owen had been taken down like this when he was younger, and boy is his dad kinda a dick. Owen and his dad do morally bad things? But only to people that haven't seen the 'wolves' even though Owen is protecting them. That is not promising
Boy does Owen not look good, needs a cane to support himself. Jesus
Owen was an archer as a soldier, he doesn't know first aid but can make a splint
Apo was in the maze and it randomly turned night. Interesting. There's an airplane in the clearing! A note dropped from the sky saying 'trust no one'
Apo and Owen showed each other their secret rooms
Owen and Apo trust each other
'trust no one' is being placed all over the clearing, how ominous
Apo only really cares about Gracie, Silvia, Owen and Rasbi
Apo and Owen are fishing together. Their bond is so cute. Owen doesn't know how to fish, he has no skills beyond spearing people
New person! Guts is here, she's a demon. We have 3 now. She's very charismatic, I think she's great already
Owen feels like Guts is important. When he's around Rasbi or Apo he remembers things better.
Owen has found a really deep water source, he's told no one he's found it. He's gone in
general thoughts
Guts - they're great, I love them already
Apo - he's being quite blank? to the others. If you get what I mean, he doesn't really care about them except for a few. That could be a lie
theory time - With what Owen's dad said, that they killed 'wolves' to protect people, even if no one else saw it like that, as well as Rasbi, Apo and Guts affecting Owen's memory, it feels bad. The only thing connecting those three, is that they're demons, and demons are stereotypically evil. Figuratively 'wolves' to sheep or humans in this case. And it just doesn't feel good, maybe theirs something else? I mean, Ori rocking Owens shit helped him remember, maybe Owen just needs to get knocked out a lot.
I'm sure it won't lead anywhere, especially since demons are considered evil, would people generally be upset if they were killed? So there must be something else. They are all red, so that's another connector. Plus, Owen is friends with them, so even if I'm right, it probably won't mean much in the grand scheme of things.
There is a chance Owen is a demon, he just isn't aware of it yet, and it's the other way round. Which would explain why those three affect his memory so much, it's because they're the same species. Still not sure why other demons would care about humans being killed, but we don't know everything about the world outside the maze.

@knowsvalue gets the starter for our AU about Steve not getting frozen
HE'S WRAPPED UP IN 5 BLANKETS and still shivering even though Stark assured him his lips are no longer blue, and his skin feels normal to the touch, so it's probably all — in his head, really, but he guesses that's not out of the norm when you almost freeze to death for a whole day straight in the back of a half-sunken airplane in the middle of the Arctic. He's still not entirely sure if his dying brain only came up with the whole rescue: with Stark cutting a hole into the metal hull of the Valkyrie, pulling him out and onto a boat, bringing him back to ––– Steve doesn’t actually know where they are headed. He thinks he’s losing time, only jerking awake every now and then when someone walks past him or another mug of hot tea is thrust into his hands. But it used to be dark and now it isn’t anymore, so a couple of hours surely passed.
He jerks out of his thoughts when a hand connects with his shoulder. He turns his head, notices Howard, sees how his lips are moving, but there’s too much going on in his head to understand what he’s saying. He realizes he needs to get up, though, so he struggles onto his feet, hissing in pain when he puts weight on his broken right leg. There is a makeshift splint, but he burned through all the morphine they had on board already, so there’s no way but through. Stark muscles his way under Steve’s right shoulder to serve as a human cane, and together they limp out of the cabin and down the deck of the ship to a gangway. Steve blinks into the light, head spinning. Some people are waiting at the wharf. A light goes off, probably a camera, but Steve ignores it. He sees brunette hair and red lipstick.

Designer Research 1: Eames
Furniture is something I am becoming more and more interested in as I grow older. In this blog I plan to talk about designers that have caught my attention, why they stand out, and how they found their way within the industry. In high school I became obsessed with ceramics because of their ability to be both beautiful and functional. Furniture possesses these same qualities as well. Every chair we sit in or table we sit at, whether we think about it or not, was meticulously designed by someone. I hope to one day create my own functional art piece in the form of a piece of furniture.
In order to learn how I may accomplish this, I figured I’d start by researching one of the most iconic American designer couples. Charles and Ray Eames married in 1941 and together they created groundbreaking works in the architecture, furniture, industrial design, and manufacturing fields. Before they met, Charles Ames had an interest in engineering and architecture as a kid and attended Washington University in St. Louis when he got older. He ended up being thrown out of the University because of his support of Frank Loyd Wright, another influential American architect, who at the time was facing backlash in the media for his personal matters. After this, Charles started working at an architectural office. He worked there for about three years, but in 1930 he decided to start his own architectural office where he began to expand his creative abilities beyond just architecture. Ray Kaiser Eames had an interest in painting and got her start by working with Hans Hoffman in New York. She later went to compete in the Museum of Modern Art‘s organic furniture competition where she worked alongside Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen. Through this competition she began to learn how to create complex shapes by molding plywood. The chair that they created for the competition in 1941 was called simply “Organic Chair” and it was awarded first place in seating. The chair was regarded as a design breakthrough because of its molded seat made from strong yet lightweight plywood. This simple piece of furniture was groundbreaking at the time because it’s ability to be mass produced. Prior to this, practically all chairs were made with expensive springs, heavy upholstery, and padding. The “Organic Chair” is still iconic and being produced to this day.
I think what makes the Eames work stick out to me and to so many others, is its ornate simplicity. By creating furniture in this style, the Eames produced products that are timeless. There’s so much furniture that gets thrown out every day purely because it is no longer in style or now perceived as ugly. Therefore, the fact that Eames pieces are still so desirable and original pieces go for thousands of dollars, truly shows how great of designers this couple were. But as stated earlier, they did a lot more than just furniture design. They also excelled in architecture, graphic design, toys, textiles, art, and film. They were even hired by the US Navy to create splints, stretchers, seats, and a few airplane parts. This kind of mastery in design and aesthetic is something any creative person like myself can admire. My biggest take away after researching the work of Charles and Ray Eames, is that even a basic form can be massively influential if done properly. Furthermore, Eames reminded me that beautiful art does not have to be complex or flashy. There are countless pieces of furniture today based off the work of Charles and Ray although many may not even know it.

Post-Surgical Care with the Airplane Splint
The Airplane Splint is a vital orthopedic device used to immobilize and support the shoulder and arm in an abducted position, usually following surgery or injury. It is commonly applied in cases where controlled movement is necessary for optimal recovery, particularly in the rehabilitation of shoulder injuries. Below is a detailed overview of its purpose, design, applications, and benefits.
Key Features and Design:
Shoulder Abduction: The splint holds the shoulder in a specific abducted position (typically 90 degrees), keeping the arm away from the body.
Customizable Fit: The splint features adjustable straps and padded support to accommodate different body shapes and sizes. This allows for patient-specific positioning based on medical requirements.
Rigid Frame: Its sturdy structure ensures that the shoulder remains immobile while providing the necessary alignment for healing.
Comfort-Oriented: Modern designs include soft padding and lightweight materials, making it suitable for extended wear without causing discomfort.
Purpose and Function:
Post-Surgical Immobilization: The splint is primarily used after shoulder surgeries, such as rotator cuff repair, shoulder arthroplasty, or fracture fixation. It helps to prevent unnecessary movement that could disrupt the healing process.
Protection During Healing: The abducted position reduces strain on healing tissues, promoting a controlled environment where muscles, tendons, and ligaments can recover without excessive tension.
Alignment Maintenance: The splint ensures proper alignment of the shoulder joint, which is essential for preventing complications like frozen shoulder or joint contractures.
Clinical Applications:
Rotator Cuff Repair: After this procedure, the shoulder requires immobilization to avoid re-injury. The Airplane Splint keeps the shoulder in a safe, stable position.
Fracture Care: For fractures in or around the shoulder joint, this splint aids in immobilization, ensuring bones heal correctly and reducing the risk of improper fusion.
Brachial Plexus Injury: In cases where nerve damage affects shoulder movement, the splint can prevent further strain while the nerves regenerate.
Shoulder Dislocations: The splint helps in immobilizing the shoulder post-reduction, ensuring it stays in place as tissues heal.
Benefits for Rehabilitation:
Controlled Immobilization: The Airplane Splint provides the necessary immobilization without compromising the patient’s comfort, ensuring effective recovery while preventing complications.
Reduced Risk of Joint Stiffness: The abducted positioning helps in avoiding joint stiffness and preventing conditions like adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder).
Gradual Adjustment: As the patient progresses in their recovery, the splint can be adjusted to gradually introduce more movement, aiding in active rehabilitation and increasing range of motion.
Customization and Patient Comfort:
Adjustable Design: The splint can be modified for each patient’s needs, ensuring a precise fit and targeted support.
Long-Term Wear: Thanks to its padded, ergonomic design, patients can wear the splint for long periods without discomfort, reducing the risk of pressure sores or irritation.
Conclusion:
The Airplane Splint plays a crucial role in orthopedic care, particularly in post-operative recovery and shoulder injury rehabilitation. Its ability to immobilize the shoulder in a safe, controlled manner ensures optimal healing, while its adjustable design allows for a comfortable, customized fit. Whether for surgery recovery or injury management, the Airplane Splint is a key tool in ensuring patients regain mobility and function safely.

Broken Nose {t.h.}
Tom Holland x Female Reader
Summary: You’ve just gotten a new job as an on-set medic for Spider-Man: Far From Home to be on stand by for any injuries that may occur during stunts. When the star of the movie, Tom Holland, breaks his nose from a particularly bad fall, you fix his broken nose but can he fix your broken heart?
Warnings: mention of blood, swearing, Tom getting hurt :(
Disclaimer: I do not know Tom Holland personally or in any capacity or any of -the staff of Spider-Man Far From Home
series masterlist
-
A soft breeze pushed your hair out of your face as you hoisted your bag onto your shoulder. It was a particularly sunny day in New York, and you were sweating a little in your tactical pants and New York Emergency Medical Services polo. Your partner had just finished making sure the ambulance was gassed up, and you were ready to go.
You climbed into the passenger seat, and pulled your sunglasses down. You were a little nervous, but not as nervous as you imagined that you would be. You’ve dealt with all sorts of patients, as working in New York definitely comes with some odd-ball cases. Last week, you and your partner, James, had to transport a patient with a branch impaled in his arm.
But these patients were movie stars. What if you messed up and you ended up scarring their perfect faces?
“Ready?” James asked, looking over to you. You smiled at him and nodded.
“Ready.”
As you pulled out of the station, you thought back to when your company got a particularly unusual call. Apparently, the new Spider-Man movie was being filmed in the city, and a few of the producers were worried about potential injuries. There was a law suit from a previous stuntman in a recent blockbuster movie and it was all over the news about how the lack of emergency medical care led to the stuntman suffering nerve damage in his arm.
The producers of Spider-Man must have wanted to be prepared in case something like that happened to them.
You didn’t blame them. All sorts of things could go wrong in a risky stunt. It was better to be safe than sorry.
Besides, you could use the extra pay. Living in New York was expensive, and although you had this job as a paramedic, you were applying to medical school at NYU in the next year and the thought of paying for tuition made you sick.
“Whatcha thinking about?” James asked, glancing at you before looking back at the road.
“Nothing,” you said and smiled at him.
“Excited to meet some famous people?” James teased with a grin.
You shrugged. “Definitely different from the usual crowd of patients.”
James chuckled. He was a little older than you, in his mid twenties, and he had been doing this job a long time. He trained you to become one of the best paramedics in the city, and he acted like a big brother. He was always looking out for you, in and out of the field.
Only a few minutes later, you were approaching the gated off complex where filming must have been occurring. You were stopped at the gate by two security guards, but you both flashed your paramedic licenses and the card that the producers gave you before you arrived.
The gates opened and you were in.
-
“You guys will be set up over here,” Mike, one of the producers’ assistants, said leading you and James to a medical tent set up outside of the set. Your ambulance was parked in the back for easy access in case someone got seriously injured, but neither of you were expecting that to happen. If anything, the worst thing you were probably going to see was a fracture or two.
“Great, thanks,” James said, setting his go-bag on the table and heading around the back.
You let out a sigh as you sat down in one of the two chairs provided for you.
“Don’t tell me you’re tired already,” James chuckled as he double-checked that you had splinting bandages in the go-bag.
“I’m just preparing,” you said.
People walked by the medical tent, looking important with their earpieces and clipboards. Costumes were wheeled by on carts along with expensive-looking lighting equipment.
“Ever been on a movie set before?” James asked you as you both watched the hustle and bustle of everyone around you.
“Nope, you?” you asked, looking over at James.
“Once.”
You looked at James, narrowing your eyes and trying to read his face for seriousness.
“You’re lying.”
James grinned. “Caught me.”
A figure in the corner of your vision caught your eye and you turned just as Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon approached your table. You and James stood from your seats.
“Hey,” Tom said with a friendly smile, his English accent was stronger than you were expecting. “We heard that the medic team had arrived so we figured we would come introduce ourselves.”
“I’m Tom,” the actor said, sticking his hand out to James first.
“Oh, I know who you are,” James said with a dopey grin on his face. You almost laughed out loud at the expression across his face. James was a six-foot, muscular guy who was geeking out at the sight of a celebrity. “I’m James.”
“I’m (Y/N),” you said, shaking Tom’s hand, then Zendaya’s, and then Jacob’s.
“It’s great you guys are here,” Jacob said. “I suddenly feel much safer in your presence.”
You and James laughed.
“Well, hopefully we won’t have to be working together too much,” you said with a smile. “A slow work day for us is a good one.”
Suddenly, a man in his twenties approached your table. You thought you recognized him from the trailer for the movie, but you weren’t sure.
“Is this the medic team?” he asked.
“Yes, I’m (Y/N),” you said, sticking out your hand for him to shake. However, the man stared at your hand as if it were infected.
“Seriously?” he asked, raising an eyebrow at you. You dropped your hand to your side and stared at him.
“Excuse-”
“You look like you’re sixteen. Are you trying to tell me that this girl is responsible for my life if it comes to it?” the guy asked.
“Dude,” Tom sneered. “What’s your problem?”
“Yeah, seriously Freddie,” Zendaya said. “Sexist much?”
“I’m just saying!” the guy, Freddie, said, holding up his hands. “She doesn’t look like she could lift ten pounds!”
James stepped forward, as if he were going to punch the guy, but you placed your hand in front of him and stepped forward yourself. You looked up at Freddie and narrowed your eyes.
“Let me tell you something,” you said, your voice was calm despite the anger you felt. “If you crack your skull open and the only thing standing between you and death is me, you’re going to wish you never said that.”
Freddie stared at you, looking as though he were trying to come up with something to say, but instead he looked like a gaping fish.
“Yeah!” Jacob said, with a wide grin. “Get out of here loser!”
Freddie scoffed and rolled his eyes before backing away and leaving the table. As soon as he was gone, you let out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding. Your hands were shaking with anger. As a woman in the emergency medical field, you received comments like that all the time. It was like they were trying to strip you of all the training and hard work you put in to get to where you were now.
“I like you,” Zendaya said, crossing her arms over chest and smiling at you. You smiled back, grateful for that.
“I’m so sorry about him,” Tom apologized, looking genuinely mortified by Freddie’s actions.
“Who even was that?” James asked. You knew that if you let him, James would have beaten Freddie to a pulp.
Tom sighed and rolled his eyes. “He’s one of the producers’ nephews. He’s in college to be an actor so his uncle let him be an extra on the movie.”
“Unfortunately for us, that means we get to interact with him daily,” Jacob added.
“Yeah, and he thinks because of who he is, he gets to treat the staff like shit,” Zendaya said. “I hate him.”
“That makes two of us,” you muttered.
“Again, so so sorry about that,” Tom said, placing a hand over his chest. “I know the rest of us are very grateful to have you guys here.”
You smiled. “Thank you.”
“We have to get back on set, but if you guys need anything at all, please let us know,” Tom added.
“Will do. It was nice meeting you guys,” James said. You waved goodbye as the three movie-stars walked away. When they were far enough away, you fell back into your seat, suddenly more exhausted than you were when you arrived.
“If I see that twerp again-”
“You’ll leave him alone,” you said, finishing James’s sentence before he could say what he really wanted to. James looked at you, frowning.
“James, we have a job here and that’s to help the injured. Please don’t get caught up in some fight with the producer’s nephew.”
James sighed and leaned back in his chair. He had to know that you were right. As much as you wanted to slap that smug grin on Freddie’s face, you knew in doing so that you would be fired on the spot, and make your company look bad in the process. You had to remain professional even though it took every atom in your body to hold back your emotions.
-
A few hours passed without incident. A couple people came up and asked for a band-aid but that was about it. James was folding a piece of paper into a paper airplane while you picked at the chipped nail polish lingering on your nails.
Shouting caught your attention. It wasn’t panicked shouting, but it was loud enough to cause commotion.
“Tessa! Tessa, come back!”
You lifted your head and looked out in front of your table to see a gray figure weaving in and out of people before making a beeline straight towards your table.
You stood up as the dog rushed to you, her tail wagging uncontrollably. You couldn’t help but laugh as she jumped up on your legs. She wasn’t very big, but her big brown eyes were absolutely adorable. You knelt down, patting her head as she licked your face.
“Hello, there!” you cooed. “What are you doing out here?”
The dog stared at you, wagging her tail as she licked your face again. You laughed, picking her up and holding her tight as you saw Tom approaching.
“Oh my god,” he gasped. “Thank you so much. I thought I was going to be chasing her all day.”
Tessa started squirming in your arms at the sight of her owner.
“She’s adorable,” you said with a smile as you handed her back to Tom.
“She’s a pain,” Tom laughed.
Tom looked at Tessa and shook his head. “You’re not supposed to leave the trailer!”
“Do you bring her to work often?” you asked. Tom looked back at you.
“Only sometimes. My family was visiting, so they brought her because they know how much I miss her,” he said. You noticed how prominent his English accent was when he talked. It dripped off of every syllable.
You frowned. “That must be hard leaving her.”
“It is,” Tom sighed. “But then she does things like this.”
Tessa barked as if she knew you were talking about her and you both laughed.
“I should get her back to the trailer where I can keep a better eye on her,” Tom said. “Thank you for catching her.”
“Anytime,” you smiled before leaning forward and patting Tessa’s head. “It was lovely meeting you, Tessa.”
Tessa licked your cheek and you laughed before waving goodbye to her and Tom. Once Tom was gone, James cocked an eyebrow at you while you sat back down.
“What?” you asked.
James smirked. “Nothing.”
Another hour went by, uneventful as you were expecting, but you and James came up with a game of counting how many times you saw someone famous walk by. You may have freaked out a little bit when Jake Gyllenhaal walked by.
You were hoping that Tessa would escape from Tom’s trailer again, because she was just so adorable that you wanted to pat her little head again. And it was better to pet a dog than twiddle your thumbs.
Unfortunately, Mike the assistant, came up to your table rather quickly.
“We have a problem.”
-
You and James were led to the site of the accident by Mike, each of you carrying your go-bags through the crowd of people that parted for your entry. You were led over to where a circle of people were standing.
“Excuse us, medics coming through,” you said forcefully. The people parted for you to see what had happened.
Tom was sitting on the ground, holding his face his hands, groaning loudly as he rocked back and forth. Jacob was sitting on one side of him, and a blonde boy who you thought might be Harrison Osterfield, was on the other side of him with his hand on his shoulder.
You placed your bag down and knelt in front of Tom while James took out one of the medical clipboards you used to take down patient documentation.
“Hey Tom, it’s (Y/N),” you said gently. “Can you tell me what happened?”
“He was doing one of the stunts with a harness and I think his foot got stuck in it,” Harrison said, “He fell and landed on his face.”
You sighed. “Okay Tom, can you look at me?”
Tom slowly lifted his face from his hands. The bruising had already started around his nose and cheekbones, a mixture of red and purple, and blood trickled from his right nostril.
“Can you talk?” you coaxed.
“Hurts,” Tom grumbled.
“I know,” you said. “But we’re gonna fix you up okay?” You reached over to your go-bag and pulled out some Advil to help with the swelling. While you were rummaging through the medicine bag, you heard Tom say something.
“Am I dreaming or is she really pretty?” Tom grumbled to Harrison. Harrison let out a laugh.
“Can you stay focused please, buddy?” Harrison chuckled. You felt your cheeks heat up at the comment. It seemed as though Tom had tried to whisper his comment, but it was not quiet at all.
However, something about his comment concerned you. He was not acting as himself, which was a bad sign of a concussion. You found the Advil, but you also grabbed your pen light.
“Hey Tom, I’m going to shine a light in your eyes, is that okay?” you asked.
Tom nodded weakly.
You flashed the pen light into each eye, and saw that each pupil was equal and reactive to light which was a good sign, but the fact that he couldn’t talk coherently was concerning you.
“I think he has a concussion,” you said, looking up at the director and producers that had crowded around you. “He’s going to need to rest.”
“Rest? We don’t have time for rest, we have to finish a lot of scenes today!” the producer who you didn’t know the name of exclaimed. You narrowed your eyes at him and stood.
“Your star of the movie just suffered a concussion and can barely speak and you’re telling me you’d rather put his health at risk than shoot filming for an extra day?” you said to the middle-aged man. You wondered if this was Freddie’s uncle.
The man stared at you and you shook your head.
“He’s resting for the rest of the day, and he should be taken to see a doctor for follow-up.”
You turned back around before the producer could say anything else. You knelt at Tom’s side as James handed you a plastic cup of water. You lifted it to Tom’s lips so that he could gently sip it. You didn’t know if he was coherent enough to swallow the pills and there was nothing you could do for a broken nose other than pain meds, so you figured you could give him some water before getting him to the ambulance. You knew that he should see a doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment, since there was not much you could offer him in the field.
“You’re really pretty,” Tom mumbled as he took another sip of water. The boys chuckled while your cheeks turned a deep shade of scarlet. You swallowed thickly while James took a piece of gauze and wiped away the blood around Tom’s nose.
“We’re gonna bring you to the hospital for an evaluation, is that alright Tom?” James asked, since you suddenly couldn’t find your words.
“As long as (Y/N) comes,” Tom almost slurred. He was so disoriented that he pointed to Jacob when he spoke. He thought Jacob was you.
You inhaled sharply while you stood to go find the stretcher you were going to use to wheel Tom out.
You knew he was just delirious considering he just fell face first on the ground, but his comments still made your heart suddenly race. You steadied your breathing when you grabbed the stretcher from the medical tent and composed yourself while wheeling it back over to Tom.
In the ambulance, you sat in the back with Tom and Harrison while James drove. You were monitoring Tom’s vitals which all seemed stable as you approached the nearest hospital. Tom was talking to Harrison, as you encouraged him to keep talking and to not fall asleep.
When you felt the ambulance stop at the ER, you went to stand, but Tom grabbed your hand before you could.
“Stay, please,” he croaked. The bruising around his face seemed to get better with ice, but it’s always scary getting a bad concussion like Tom had. You felt like your heart had tried to jump out of your chest as soon as his hand came into contact with yours.
“Okay,” you whispered.
Tom smiled weakly as James opened the ambulance doors.
-
The next day, you and James were sitting back at the medical tent on set. Tom had been diagnosed with a much milder concussion than you were expecting him to have. According to the ER doctor, the thing that was causing Tom to be delirious wasn’t the concussion, but was the pain from the broken nose. He had a very mild concussion and needed rest for a week before he could return to work, but the production company figured they would shoot other scenes during the time that Tom was resting.
Jacob and Zendaya came over to your table a few times to tell you how Tom was doing and how they thought how cool it was with what you and James do. James kept teasing you about Tom calling you pretty, but you shrugged it off. It was just the pain talking.
Two more days passed and one other stuntman got injured from a trip on set. It wasn’t bad, just a sprained finger, but it was something to do.
You wondered how Tom was doing, and you wondered if he meant what he said. You knew it was stupid to think about that when you should be more concerned with his health, but something about his words made your heart skip a beat.
It was a slow afternoon when Harrison came up to your table.
“Hey, you’re (Y/N) right?” Harrison said. You nodded and smiled at him.
“Yep, that’s me.”
“I know Tom is probably going to thank you when he gets back, but I wanted to thank you also, I mean, for sticking up for him and making sure he got really good care,” Harrison said. “He’s my best friend, and if something happened to him, I don’t know what I’d do.”
“There’s no need to thank me,” you smiled. “It’s my job.”
Harrison nodded. “I know. But still. Thank you.”
“How’s he doing, by the way?” you asked.
“He’s alright,” Harrison said. “He’s itching to get back to work, he hates being cooped up in the hotel, but I keep telling him he has to wait until Tuesday.”
You smiled. “That’s good to hear.”
Harrison smiled back. “He keeps asking about you.”
You were taken aback by his words, and James laughed out loud next to you, earning an angry slap to the shoulder.
“He- what?” you said. “About what?”
Harrison chuckled. “You’ll have to ask him yourself when he gets back.”
Without saying anything else, Harrison walked away, leaving you dumbfounded with your mouth hanging open and James laughing hysterically next to you.
Suddenly, Tuesday couldn’t get here fast enough.

1989, 11th July - Alex is born to Tom and Anna Weiss in Lakeville, Minnesota.
1998 - A nine year old Alex learns to hack, inspired by his older sister, Kaz.
2003 - Tom begins to teach a fourteen year old Alex how to shoot a pistol, taking him to a shooting gallery most weekends.
2007, September - Tom suffers a heart attack and dies, leaving behind Anna, Kaz, and an eighteen year old Alex.
2007, September - Alex begins a four year course at the University of Minnesota, majoring in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Engineering. During this time, he joined the Minnesota Running Club.
2010 - Kaz marries Lucya. Alex is the best man at her wedding.
2011, June - Alex graduates from the University of Minnesota with full honours.
- Alex remains unemployed, albeit with a sideline in computer repair. The majority of his income, however, comes from hacking gambling sites to increase the odds of him winning.
2013 - After hacking into several government databases and being hunted by the governments in question, Alex came to Conrad Roth for sanctuary on his research vessel. Though he initially offered to work for free, Roth allowed him to stay aboard and welcomed him into his crew as a technician.
- Alex meets Lara Croft and Sam Nishimura, as well as the rest of the Endurance crew, finding his old friend Jonah a member. Alex immediately develops a crush on Lara, nurturing it in secret, though his over-awkwardness annoys Lara to some degree, and becomes fast friends with Sam.
- Alex meets Dr Whitman after the Endurance is hired to help in filming Whitman’s World. Alex does not take kindly to him, having hacked into files about his private life and discovered his messy divorce and financial strife.
- Roth charges Alex with forging the necessary permits for the ship and the expedition, including the crew.
- While setting up a Wi-Fi range extender for the Endurance, Alex fell overboard. He was saved by Lara, though pushed back into the water by Sam in mischief.
- With the expedition to find Yamatai on hold due to funding issues, Alex presents a solution in the form of a self-made 99.9% hacking program. He uses it on gambling sites to increase their chances of winning and accrue the necessary funds – however, the 0.1% chance of detection occurs and Alex is forced to throw his computer overboard to avoid being traced.
- While at sea, the Endurance needed an intermediate repair in the engine room. While Alex insisted it was a mechanical fault, Reyes correctly informed him it was an electrical fault. In attempting to make a joke, Alex made a flirtatious remark about a girl in Reyes’ photo – a girl he soon learned, around the foot in his mouth and disbelief at his own idiocy, was Reyes’ 14 year old daughter.
March - The crew came to a crossroads midway into their journey. Lara suggested venturing into the Dragon’s Triangle, where Whitman rebuked the idea. Alex hacked into a satellite to show the weather conditions over the triangle – with the storms there and Lara citing Himiko’s apparent myth for controlling the weather, a myth that could have some element of truth, Roth decided to make for the Triangle.
- At 11pm, in the vicinity of Yamatai, a storm strikes the Endurance and cleaves her in two. Alex manages to escape the shipwreck and makes it to the beach with Reyes, Jonah, Grim, Sam, Whitman, and another crew member. Although Alex tried to save him with CPR, the crew member died on the beach.
- The crew reunites with Lara while she is caught in a bear trap, having been searching for the kidnapped Sam and Mathias. The crew free Lara and split up – one to go with Lara and head for Roth, who is communicating via radio and attempting to gather all crew at his location, and the rest to fan out and find Sam. Alex offers to go with Lara, but is denied by Whitman, and joins the party searching for Sam.
- When Lara attempts to use an abandoned radio tower to boost the rescue beacon from the Endurance to call for help, it is Alex who talks her through both finding the control bank and the method of patching the signal manually through the tower’s maintenance box.
- While searching for Sam near Himiko’s palace, Reyes, Alex, and Jonah are taken captive by the Solarii Brotherhood and imprisoned in an old airplane wreck suspended in the underground geothermal caverns. The three are rescued by Lara, though are separated from her again while she returns to the caves to hunt for Sam and Whitman.
- The three manage to escape and reunite with Sam, but are cornered by the Solarii and begin a gun battle to fend them off. With Roth and Lara on a helicopter Roth had called, it seems the four will be left to the islanders, until Lara forces the pilot to land for their friends.
- Roth dies protecting Lara, and Alex attends his funeral pyre burial. He suggests to Lara that they only need to regroup, though he agrees there is something strange about the island. He leaves with Reyes, Jonah, and Sam to go to the old PT boat on the beach, with Reyes believing she can repair it sufficiently to allow them to escape.
- With the boat in bad condition, it becomes apparent Reyes needs her tools from the Endurance to properly repair the boat. Taking inspiration from Lara’s “See what you can do.”, Alex volunteers to fetch the tools from the wreck.
- He manages to successfully evade the Solarii raiding the wreck for scrap, as well as climb and travel over dangerous terrain to reach the wreck. On reaching the engine room, however, Alex was surprised by a Solarii gunman. Their brief gunfight saw Alex come out victorious, however a steel girder and several other pieces of the Endurance’s ceiling were loosened in the battle. They came crashing down on Alex, severely injuring his leg and pinning it beneath the metal beams, trapping him there until Lara came.
- Though she attempted to remove the debris, it caused Alex too much pain. The Solarii, aware of Lara’s presence and previously alerted by the sound of Alex’s gunshots, stormed the engine room, engaging in a brief exchange of bullets. After convincing Lara to leave him and return to Reyes with the tools, Alex shot at the ruptured gas pipe, causing an explosion that rocked the ship and ultimately had Lara presume he was dead. Instead, Alex was severely burned along his left side and right arm, thrown from the debris into a lower room by the blast. He was knocked unconscious and sealed within the room as the Endurance sank, with only a limited supply of air.
- Waking up on the seafloor some unknown period of time later, Alex knew he had to act. If his air supply did not run out, it would be the mounting pressure that killed him, his saving prison already groaning under the weight. Eventually forcing himself to stand, though he could not put his weight on the injured leg, Alex dragged himself to the room door, where he forced it open and attempted to swim to the surface before the pressure killed him through knocking all air for his lungs and drowning him, or by giving him brain damage in the process. Successfully making it to the surface, Alex makes for the remaining half of the Endurance, seeking to raid what medical supplies may be left in order to treat his wounds.
- A tourniquet tied around his leg and what bandages he could find binding his leg in a makeshift splint, Alex retreats to rest for the night, resolving to return to the crew in the morning. By the time he awakens, however, Lara and the crew have already journeyed inland to rescue Sam.
- Alex slowly drags himself to the beach, forced to take frequent breaks and rely almost entirely on a crutch (his leg is useless, he knows this, he knows this, but still he forces himself to go on). It is there he sees the PT boat leaving off in the distance, Lara having rescued Sam from Himiko. Though he tries to hail them, his voice is too hoarse, his body too weak, and so they leave without hearing him.
- Three months pass, and Alex is still on the island. His leg is barely healed, broken and twisted beyond all compare. Though he refuses to look, gangrene has begun to set in to the wound by the second month, despite his attempts to keep the wound clean. He searches for any other possible way off the island, evading the stragglers of the Solarii and killing them where he must.
- By the sixth month, Alex resolves that the only possible way to escape is to hail for rescue from the radio tower as Lara did. It takes him several weeks to cross the island, slowed as he is by injury and his leg, and several days to climb the tower. On his descent from the tower, his leg gives out and he falls from the last ladder, breaking his right arm.
early September: Lara travels to Pripyat at the behest of her hallucinations of Alex. There, she meets his sister, Kaz, and her family-in-law, and defends them from Trinity. Although Viktor and Kirill are killed by Mr Cruz, it is revealed that Lucya is still alive, having faked her death to escape Trinity. Lucya, Kaz, Varvara, and Pavel are all taken into Witness Protection, where Lara gives them burner phones that they may remain in contact with her should they need her.
late October - Alex is rescued by plane and flown to Bokutoh Hospital for emergency treatment. He is treated for sepsis and found to be suffering from septic shock; his arm is set and his leg, too far ravaged by gangrene and infection, is amputated above the knee. He remains in a medically induced comatose state for several weeks, half-dead and kept alive by IV lines and antibiotics.
2014, January - Alex begins to stir. Although still disorientated and incredibly weak, hospital staff manage to get two sentences from him – Lara Croft and Yamatai.
- Although not enough to identify him, as his identification was left in the Endurance, Alex’s repeated murmurs of ‘Lara Croft’ drive hospital staff to find her in the hopes she might know their mystery patient. She is located on account of her publishing her testimony of what happened on Yamatai.
10th February - Lara Croft is contacted. She does not remain convinced the hospital have the right person, until Yamatai is mentioned. She immediately packs and fly for Japan.
11th February - Lara reunites with Alex. At first she does not believe it is him, believing instead that it is a hallucination or a cruel joke. Though Alex manages to convince her, through tears on both parts, he is still not strong enough and falls asleep again.
12th February - Lara contacts Jonah, Reyes, and Sam to inform them of Alex’s survival. They all fly to the hospital to see Alex with their own eyes and reunite with one they thought dead.
15th February - With Alex’s permission, Lara has him transferred to Royal Surrey County Hospital, so that she and Sam may keep watch over him.
17th March - With doctors finally satisfied he is recovered enough to be released, Alex is discharged. He is offered a place to live by Lara, in her London apartment with her and Sam.
1st April - Alex begins the process of being fitted for a prosthetic leg. Although he tries to argue, Lara insists on paying for the whole process, as well as his rehabilitation and learning to walk.
November - Atlas DeMornay forces Lara to attend therapy and prove she is of sound mind before he allows her access to her fortune. It is revealed to Alex and Sam by Atlas that Lara is in fact a Lady.
- Obsessed with proving her legitimacy, Lara begins a search for the Divine Source. Although forbidden to accompany her physically, Alex remains in London as technological backup, ready to hack and find information and funding as Lara needs it.
- Following her return from Syria, Lara returns to Croft Manor, bringing Alex and Sam with her. Though it is Lara who does all the work, Alex still attempts to help her find evidence she is the rightful owner of the estate and her inheritance.
- Lara and Jonah fly out to Siberia to find the lost city of Kitezh. Alex remains in Croft Manor with Sam, helping out in the restoration where he can and waiting for Lara to return.

《Backstory》
TW death, airplane crash
Icarus had a fairly normal life, growing up with an inventor for a father. His father taught him and his cousin Perdix how to create new machinery, while Iapyx studied medicines. As they grew older, the family single-handedly improved technology in Hawirith, widely regarded by the world as geniuses. Tragedy struck when Icarus' mother passed. He was only sixteen, and the impact hit him beyond consolation.
In an impulse decision, Icarus tried to invent a flying machine in an attempt to reach the heavens and see his mother. Perdix aided him, and also helped his cousin test the machine. The two tested how high the machine could fly, and ended up causing it to stall and crash. Perdix did not survive the fall, but Icarus came out alive and wounded. He was found by Iapyx just in time, and slowly nursed back to health.
After the crash, Icarus was unable to stand for long periods of time without feeling as if he'd collapse. Daedalus helped him create something that would help him travel without walking. Despite the loss of his cousin and mother, Icarus continues to invent and create
