"I truly believe we will achieve justice and be free to live in dignity and peace. However, while the genocide in Gaza and the 75 years of dispossession and oppression continue, I find it so difficult to think of work. That said, I am constantly reminded that we are supporting dozens of artisans at this moment in their efforts to generate income in Palestine under incredibly challenging circumstances.
I want to share with you all what to expect moving forward. You all, who have really just been so incredible in supporting our work and sending love and encouragement and solidarity. I started talking to my husband about my Handmade Palestine family. Really you all are more encouraging than you can ever know--to me, to our artisans, to Palestine.
Today I opened a new notebook and as I did last year, I wrote on the inside cover:
You Will Succeed
for yourself
for your family
for your artisans
for the land
for Palestine"
Tumblr media
"Throughout the year, I always return to that page and remind myself why I do this work, even when it feels grief-ridden, exhausting, or hopeless. I also remember Dalal who makes the brass jewelry and embroidered keffiyehs. Dalal oversees up to 10 women embroidering and so we have become a source of income for 10 families who have no other options. Twice over the holidays I called artisans with last-second surprise orders and listened to joyful, unbelieving laughter as people rejoiced at getting more work through us.
We celebrate together the impact you all are having on the Palestinian creative economy."
Tumblr media
"What we are working on in 2024:
Massive restructuring to more effectively handle support and solidarity
We are so grateful for your support, truly. Your patience and understanding have been much appreciated. We've reorganized our crafts and artisans so we can respond to your needs better. Artisans are also really excited to have clear lists from us so they can be prepared and keep up.
Updating fulfillment space
Our volunteer has been such a rockstar. As you all know we ship in bulk to Portland, Oregon, where our 2023 volunteer who is officially hired in 2024 as a part-time fulfillment manager, processes orders. This enables us to overcome restrictions and closures from Israeli occupation and folks in the US to get more affordable shipping. It also means we sometimes don't realize our inventory is off until he gets to the order. He spent days reorganizing the warehouse so we can work efficiently and that means slower fulfillment times (if you remember, pre-October we fulfilled orders same day, but you have blessed us with your support and we're still catching up).
Full restocking end of January
We've reorganized our site and have been working with our artisans since the end of December to make new crafts. The artisans are blown away by your continued support and thrilled to bring you new designs as well as your favorites from this last year. We are grateful also for your patience as we struggle to work through the very unique challenges as creatives under occupation. It looks like we won't be getting keffiyehs from Hirbawi for this restocking but we'll keep calling until they have some for you all!
International shipping
As many of you already understand, we ship in bulk to a fulfillment space we've built in Portland, Oregon, because shipping direct to you from Palestine is outrageously expensive and unreliable, as we are forced to depend on Israel's national post. We consider US and Canada domestic shipping, and the rest of the world requires an international carrier to deliver. UPS was losing packages and extorting fees from customers while claiming it was customs. Even after customers paid, UPS would return packages. We've been working to set up a DHL account and shipping system and we're so close! By the end of January, we'll be able to bring beautiful Palestinian crafts to you, wherever you are.
4 New Artisans
In addition to these two groups, we have been working for the last month to bring 4 new artisan groups to the Handmade family, so you'll see their collections and learn more about their craft-making and designs in the coming month. We are sure you'll love these gorgeous crafts and makers as much as we do! Stay tuned for more on them. We also have formed two women's groups for tatreez in addition to the 4 new artisans. In the coming months, we'll launch the embroidery designs of Manjel ma Qoud, which is our original work to support 10 women artisans in the West Bank in generating income.
Tatreez Projects, including Gaza women!
We also have the most amazing opportunity to support women generate income who fled Gaza to Cairo. We've arranged food, clothes, and blankets for them via our friend Manal Olama at the Egyptian Clothing Bank, AND are now working with her sustainable fashion brand, Almah, to give these women materials, machines, and the work space to create embroidery to sustain themselves in Cairo. We literally were able to make this happen in a matter of days so that the women in need could find hope and support their families in dignity.
If we do not exist for such moments as this, when someone whatsapps me saying "how can you help my sister in Cairo?" then let's just close shop now! Seriously, I feel that 8 years of this labor of love is worth it just to be able to arrive at this moment.
THANK YOU FOR BEING ON THIS JOURNEY WITH US!"

I’ve thought about doing Etsy for a while but I don’t know what I’d make or how I’d start. Do you have any ideas, or am I asking for trade screts lol?
Well m’dear (gender-neutral) you may have come to the wrong person, as I fell into this kind of by accident, but maybe the story of my trajectory will give you some ideas?
In 2020, emboldened by a drawing app called Procreate and my own hubris, I made stickers. These were not good stickers. They have since been retired. But I made them and put them on Etsy, and sold a couple. That was fun! Then three things happened: I read Gideon the Ninth, joined a fan server, and drew another sticker.
The first sticker I ever made was my pride skull sticker, which is still my most popular design. I shared the sketch in the server and was stunned when dozens of people were like “WHERE’S THE LINK, OP?!” I added the stickers to my shop and they sold out in days. I restocked. Same thing.
So I made more. And ordered more supplies. And designed stickers. Then one patch. Than another. Almost two years and 1,000 sales later, here I am.
Tbh I think I got really lucky because, at the time, the Locked Tomb fandom was pretty small but there was a demand for merch. I’m stunned and flattered that my shirts are selling so well already because there’s been an influx of sellers in the TLT merch space since Harrow came out. But I think the combo of my customizable pride options + the newness of the fandom worked to my favor. Also, the pandemic was happening so I had time at home to make, print and package orders.
I’ve branched out into other designs - there’s some Arcane stuff coming to the shop and I’ve made a sunflower pin and a matching notebook - but the TLT stuff reigns supreme. I suppose I could say that’s my niche, but I feel weird calling it that since I fell into it by accident! I guess my advice would be to take your time finding what you want to create and then looking up what exists in that space already. Does your work stack up to the standard while also being unique enough to stand out? That’s where you want to be.
I’m always happy to answer more specific questions if you have any!

5.0 out of 5 stars Think you need a new computer because yours is slow?
Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2018

It used to be that adding RAM was the easiest and cheapest way to speed up a slow computer. That never addressed the real bottleneck of a computer, which is the hard drive. I had a customer complaining that they probably needed a new computer even though theirs was only a little over a year old. Knowing that they had a standard platter-style hard drive, I suggested this. The boy is glad that I did! Saved her hundreds of dollars on a new computer and likely thousands on lost time waiting for her computer to 'compute' as her entire business relies on her computer to make her money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick and hassle-free migration from HDD to Samsung EVO 860 SSD on aging desktop
Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2018
Capacity: 500GBStyle: SSDVerified Purchase
I have a nearly 9-year-old CyberPower desktop with an Asus P6T Motherboard and wanted to eliminate a potential point of failure to eke out a little more longevity. And if I got some enhanced performance, all the better. Turns out it was a very good move.
Of course, the order came within the two day Prime window which one expects from Amazon. I also got the Corsair Dual SSD Mounting Bracket
that was an order option for another 6 bucks. I reviewed it separately but it's a must-have if you are installing into a 5 1/2 inch bay like I was. The SSD comes with an Installation Guide, which I didn't need other than to follow a web site link provided in order to install the Samsung Data Migration Software and Samsung Magician Software. Since I was installing the SSD to replace my C System drive, I needed to clone that drive onto the SSD. And the Data Migrations software works perfectly. After formatting the SSD (NTSF), I cloned 232GB to the SSD in just 31 min with a SATA 3.0 to SATA 3.0 connection. It would have been much faster has my PC supported SATA 6.0. Then removed the HDD and installed the SSD into the mounting bracket, connected the SSD to the SATA data cable and power cable (I used the same port as the C drive HDD was connected to), powered the PC up and it booted hassle-free, with no issues. It was indeed a perfect clone of the previous drive. There were no issues that required going into the BIOS screen. This will only be an issue if you do not use the same exact SATA data connection that was attached to your former C system drive.
I'm amazed how much faster the drive is. The Magician software not only carves out a bit of the drive for overhead, but it also has a cool performance test you can run on all installed drives. So I ran it on the SSD and a 6 TB WD HDD dedicated to pictures and the Random IOPS results were: for the SSD 8,789 read and 19,775 write vs for the HDD 178 read and 244 write. While that may sound unbelievable, it isn't. You actually experience this speed differential while working on the PC.
This was definitely $150 well spent!

The drive back to your bakery was a blur after your interactions with Clint and Jimmy. How could a regular morning take such a sharp turn for the worst? Parking in your designated spot in front of your building, you walked through the store front and offered a smile to a few customers being helped by Wanda. Setting down your coat and bag on the chair in your tiny back office where you did paperwork, you then rolled your shoulders and neck to release tension that had gathered there.
Somehow you had finished your morning baking, done your deliveries, discovered that the competition was moving into the neighborhood, and flirted badly with a cute guy who happened to work for the rival bakery. It wasn’t even 9am.
A deep breath and a few more stretches later, you decided to shake off this morning and get your hands in some some dough. That’s when you were most comfortable and in control, when you were baking. Tying an apron around your waist and washing your hands, you punched down the growing yeast dough one more time before dumping it out onto the floured wooden surface.
It all became muscle memory then, rolling out the dough and spreading your special cinnamon filling over the whole surface. Sprinkling a few chopped pecans on top, you then rolled the dough into one long log and began to cut the dough evenly before placing each roll on a cookie sheet. Your cinnamon rolls were one of our top sellers, so you made them fresh almost every day. You also received special orders where customers would asked for a dozen at a time.
You were just cleaning off your table when Wanda hollered back that she needed a few different types of cookies. Reaching into the two-door freezer, you placed the cookie dough balls on sheet pans and slid them into the oven. It was more efficient to make a large amount of dough at a time and freeze it to be baked fresh when needed.
Later you brought the cookies up front and Wanda restocked the case filled with baked goods. You checked that the self-serve coffee pots were filled and creamers were still cold. Restocking a few of the sweeteners, you then took one last look around, satisfied that everything was in its place.
“Wanda, I’ll be in the office if you need me,” you told the long-haired brunette.
“You got it, boss,” Wanda smiled.
Wanda had been with you from the very beginning. It had only been a year since you had turned in your business proposal and were approved for a loan, allowing you to open the bakery. Renting retail space in New York City was ridiculously expensive, but you did have one saving grace. Your landlord was willing to lower the rent slightly because it was also the building you lived in, up one floor. You had agreed to serve as superintendent, since he lived outside the city. It was a lot to take on with your business and also getting random calls in the middle of the night about broken thermostats and clogged toilets, but somehow you made it work.
You had just taken a seat in your office with coffee and a muffin when your phone chirped. Fishing it out of your apron, you saw a text message and swiped to open it.
Hey dillweed, you messed up our order again. That’s the third time this month, dude. Get back here and fix it.
B.
Staring down at your phone, you blinked a few times and read the words once more. Well, clearly that message wasn’t meant for you. Normally, you’d just ignore it, but it seemed important, so drafted a message and hit send.
Excuse me? I think you have the wrong number. I am not a dude. And what kind of insult is dillweed anyway?
FG
Three dots appeared as the other person was typing and seconds later another message arrived.
Oh, I’m sorry. I must have typed the number in wrong. My mistake. Sorry to bother you. Also dillweed is a perfectly acceptable insult, thank you very much.
B.
The response made you laugh. You were about to delete the messages and forget all about the exchange when you changed your mind and started typing. After this morning, you could use a little harmless entertainment.
FG: You typed in the number? What’re you, 90? If you know someone well enough to insult them, wouldn’t they be saved in your contacts?
A few more seconds later, you saw their response.
B: Well, Ms. Judge-y Stranger, if you must know, I have a bad track record with cell phones and rarely have them for long so I memorize most numbers or keep them in a notebook. Happy?
Another snort before you responded.
FG: Ecstatic. You’re right, I don’t know you at all and have no right to judge. It’s impressive that you can memorize numbers. My generation has completely lost the ability.
B: How do you know we’re not the same generation?
Grinning, you shot back a quick reply.
FG: You never refuted my claims that you were 90.
B: Oh. Well, I’m not. I’m 24, for your information. And you?
You hesitated then, unsure about telling a stranger anything about yourself. This was just harmless fun. After thinking a moment, you sent out a vague reply.
FG: I’m somewhere around there.
B: What’s your name?
That was a hard stop right there. Nope.
FG: I think that’s enough chatting with a random stranger for today. I’ll keep my personal info to myself, thank you.
B: Well, I might know more about you than you might think. I know you are not a dude and from the area code, I know you’re a New Yorker.
Huh. Well, he wasn’t wrong. Before you could reply another message appeared.
B: I’ve already offered more info than you have, but I’m a giver. I am, in fact, a dude and also a New Yorker. See? Not that difficult.
Another laugh escaped your lips. You then noticed the clock and felt foolish to spend so much precious time on this silly conversation, entertaining as it was.
FG: Well, dude. I have to get back to work. Nice chatting with you.
B: Oh? What do you do? Is FG your initials? Fiona Gale? Franny George?
You couldn’t help yourself and sent a laughing emoji with tears.
FG: Nice try. Later, dude.
Back at work, you couldn’t help but think about that absurd text conversation. It was probably just a one-time thing, but it definitely turned your whole day around. Pulling out the ingredients to make tart dough, you couldn’t help but hum to yourself. Thank you, dude.

Behind the Stationery: ilootpaperie
We’re bringing you a sister act on today’s installment of Behind the Stationery! Alice and Doris of ilootpaperie recently moved into a dedicated space this year in Pasadena, California (congrats!) and their greeting card and pin designs are full of vibrant colors and puns galore. They’re here to share their story—from their experience in finding a local printer to outsource their printing needs to the different methods they use to sketch and render designs—take it away, ladies! —Megan Soh
From Alice: Our foray into the stationery world had its beginnings, funnily enough, in wedding invitations for some of our close friends. We found quickly that the part of the process that we were drawn to the most was designing the accompanying thank you cards we included with the invitations as part of our gift to the couple. This realization shaped the beginnings of Ilootpaperie when we launched in December of 2010 as a passion project with just six designs on Etsy. This all took place before the advent of the phenomenal of the side hustle, so we simply thought of it as taking steps to get an idea Doris and I had daydreamed about off the ground in case she moved to London for a position she had been applying for at her day job in the finance industry.
During this time, I was working in marketing and design for a shoe design company. After making it through several rounds of layoffs due to company restructures, at the end of August 2013, I was laid off and this set off an unexpected course of events in which we eventually decided I would apply my full effort to help grow the company.
With the advice of our fellow entrepreneurial creatives in mind — that few part-time projects can take off without full-time attention applied to it — we embarked on this ever-challenging but also ever-fulfilling endeavor. We have found ourselves to be a small part of a very special industry filled with fantastically talented kindred spirits that we have the honor of working amongst and calling our friends. Doris continues to work at her day job, so we often joke there is 1 and 1/4 of us getting things done!
We are based out of Pasadena, California and just moved into a new place this past January. This move was a huge deal for us because for the first time since Ilootpaperie sprung into existence, our little endeavor finally has its own dedicated space. We converted the master bedroom into our working studio and there are two tall windows that let in a flood of beautiful natural light during the day—oh! and we installed an extensive shelving system along one of the walls to hold our inventory, something we’ve dreamt of for years.
Our first real card shelves were handmade by Joel Kvernmo of the awesome Iron Curtain Press (it was their previous shelving) and it was a milestone we hold dear because those shelves made us feel like a legit card company. Rosanna’s encouraging words when we met her to pick up the shelves from their beautiful shop Shorthand stayed in our minds as we prepped for our first trade show. Those first shelves dominated the living room of Doris’ tiny studio apartment.
So the idea of this converted studio space has been quite thrilling as we’ve always been about scrappily making it work (card inventory thoroughly infiltrated both our living rooms by time we had moved) and we can’t wait to unpack in the next couple months to create a more centralized studio area with the goal of finding more opportunities to streamline our day-to-day processes. We’ve had to put unpacking on hold to focus on prepping for the National Stationery Show (which took place at the end of May), fulfilling NSS orders, and then NSS show unpacking! As you can see, we’re in a bit of a transitional state. It can be challenging and frustrating at times, but we are learning to be patient with ourselves, to stay focused on current tasks and look to new possibilities just on the horizon to stay motivated as we settle into the new space.
From Doris: In 2015, when we started to seriously consider attending the National Stationery Show in New York, we began researching to outsource the printing and production of our designs. We wanted to educate ourselves on the how-to’s of scaling up should the need arise following the trade show — it was a process of reaching out and learning about the various printing capabilities of printing companies near and far from us, and this definitely took some persistence. We’ve always had a subtle linen texture in the paper stock we used for the line even when we were printing in-house so we wanted to be able to carry that textural brand element forward. In the end, one of the local Pasadena printers (top notch!) with diligent effort was finally able to source a premium linen paper stock that we loved, and the pop of the colors they were able to achieve for the samples we printed for NSS sealed the deal, so voilà! Here we are.
Due to the colorful nature of our designs, our collection is printed on an HP Indigo digital press on the beautiful premium linen stock in white or natural white depending on the design. Certain designs will then go to our second printer, who is also located in Pasadena and specializes in die cutting, foil printing, embossing and debossing. We love being able to build concepts around new design elements we are excited to incorporate be it a new foil color or a technique new to the line (i.e. embossing, debossing). From the printers, everything comes back full circle to us for packing, packaging, finishing and fulfillment.
Being able to work closely with our local printers in Pasadena has been integral to our growth and we feel these strong working relationships with our printing partners have helped us to be able to sustain the order volumes and levels that we had dreamed to achieve when we began attending the National Stationery Show.
Doris: We believe what really shines through in our cards and sets us apart is how much fun we have when we are coming up with our card designs. There are lots of laughs involved behind the concepts that are full of humor and heart. Even the vetoed concepts tend to make at least one of us giggle while we try to sell it to the other person. We aim to have a good time with it and believe that that’s what makes our products memorable; and that this shared laughter and connection extends beyond just the two of us is a gift.
Doris: Each day is different depending on the deadlines that we’re working on so there isn’t really a typical work day—our days are generally filled with pulling items and packing them up for retail and wholesale orders, working with our various printers/vendors to submit new orders for new designs and restocking orders to keep our inventory stocked! Concepts for new cards, pins, and products is an ongoing conversation that happens throughout all of this.
Like many other small business owners, we struggle to find enough time in the day to get everything that we would like to get done completed as there’s an ever-growing list of to-dos that need to be balanced with the fun we’d like to have, the art we’d like to create, and other life obligations that can’t be ignored for long. Moving into the new space has definitely helped us move toward achieving efficiencies in our processes to move quicker and be able to do more. In talking with other creatives in the industry, there are definitely more opportunities and workflow tools that we can continue to explore when we have a little more time on our hands (the irony!). It’s definitely a work in progress.
Alice: Our concepts are the sparks that set off our design process. We aren’t always able to set aside a specific time aside to concept so that has always been a constant on-the-flow process for us, even from the beginning. Ideas come about through every day conversations and text conversations back and forth when we aren’t together (inspiration really is everywhere!) and often times in the car on the way to drop off post or while running errands. Things that we feel deeply about also contribute to this flow of inspiration.
We keep a running list via email / phone notes /sketchbook list of our half-baked concepts and taglines, and we review the list prior to a print job or placing a pin/ notebook / button order to see which ones we should fully explore and execute. Admittedly there are times when I will take a 4am detour in the midst of designing at night and there will be a surprise concept when Doris wakes up in the morning (I tend to be a night owl when it comes to the creative side of things). We like to keep the design and brainstorming loose and open to playful impulses to keep things lively!
Once a concept has been moved into the “Let’s Execute” list, I often find myself researching lots of images of animals doing funny things (usually for the concept, but sometimes to procrastinate because it is always a little nerve-wrecking to begin a design). When we first started, Doris and I had throughly discussed and agreed we wanted to allow the brand’s visual voice to come into its own. So, especially in the beginning, I incorporated different mediums like watercolor, pencil sketches mixed with vector and text elements, and even thumbprint art when executing the designs.
As of late, all designs have begun with a hand sketch in pencil, for those that get vectored in detail (meaning point by point by mouse). Our enamel pins now all tend to be fully vectored in this manner to give me more control over the small details. And for other concepts, we like the very flat clean graphic quality of vectored lines and begin with an ink pen sketch usually on tracing paper, which I snap a photo of with my phone to take into Photoshop to composite my favorite parts of the sketches and clean up the lines. I like the hand-drawn feel that is preserved in these designs.
From there these sketches get taken into Illustrator to be vectored and then I start put together the colors and the composition with the text. Sometimes your initial instinct is spot on, other days there’s a lot of nudging, and tweaking and pushing to get to the final design. The first test print is always very exciting—we get an idea of where the colors/ tones fall and check the spacing and composition as it lives on the physical space of the card. Then comes more tweaking. When the designs are finalized, they go to our printer and next comes the proofs! At this crucial point, I check to see if we need to make any corrections / notes for printing. Ideally we don’t, and it moves into production.
Our overall design process is very much about shaping the physical lines I’m able to achieve toward the idea I have in my head. I never went to proper art school, so what I do is a mishmash of techniques and tricks I learned on the job and in classes I took after work while I was still in marketing.
With everything we do for Ilootpaperie, from our product and packaging design to shop window and craft show display designs (and even painting our first mural at our first NSS booths), there is a strong element of improvisation and constant problem solving. We take what we know and mix in a whole lot of research, trial and error, terror and gumption to keep going—it is often terrifying and exciting all at the same time.
Thanks so much for allowing us to share our little piece of our cheeky universe with everyone, Nole and Megan. We cannot fully express what a thrill it is, to be a small part of OSBP as it has inspired us so much always. We pinch ourselves every time!

Summer Style
Happy 4th, friends! This week I am escaping the suppressing desert heat and am heading to Scandinavia for two weeks with my family. I can’t wait to wear a jacket in Iceland, where it will be in the 40s and 50s! (YESSSSS!!!)
We haven’t done a style post around here for a while, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite latest finds! These are my best, most-asked-about purchases and I hope you find something to love as much as I do!
1. Chambray Jumper – I am a chambray junkie. Most days, you’ll find me in a Canadian tuxedo, or a chambray shift dress. This jumpsuit is SUPER flattering and has the sweetest button details on the front and back. I get compliments every time I wear it!
2. Straw Bag – I’m sure you’ve notice the circle purse trend and this one is a great size and it’s affordable enough to feel fine about carrying it only in the warmer months. I have the black one and I love that it’s a little more understated, but still playful.
3. T-shirt Ruffle Top – YOU NEED THIS TOP!!! It is lightweight but not sheer and super, insanely flattering. If you don’t believe me, read the reviews!
4. I haven’t worn this sweatshirt yet (bc 115 degrees!) but I bought it for our trip and I can’t wait to layer it with my favorite chambray shirt (see below) and my military jacket.
5. and  6. – I love New Balance vintage style tennies, but this 220 style is sooooo much better than the other pairs I’ve bought over the years. It’s a slimmer and somehow more comfortable fit. My feet don’t look clunky in these and they comfortable and cute enough to wear to long install days (or long museum days! yay!).
 7. – The cuuuuutest summer hat to wear with a simple black swim suit! (I included a few of my favorite affordable suits below!)
 8. – I love linen dresses in the summer! This one gets a lot of compliments. I put a few stitches in to bring up the neckline a little and it was a super easy at-home alteration to make this beautiful dress work better for me.
9. Cropped wideleg pants and jeans are pretty universally flattering – I think even on shorter people, though especially on taller girls like me (I’m 5’7″). These were very likely inspired by the $400 Jessica Kamm pants everyone in the world is obsessed with. I love the black, but also really love the blue, white and the yellow!
 10. I have these sandals in every color and they have been sold out for a while now, but they’re getting restocked this week and Madewell is taking pre-orders! I love these so much, I’m thinking of buying replacement pairs for next summer.
11. I’ve been trying to wear hats more when I’m outside because I’ve been getting some pretty bad sun spots on my face the past few years. My dermatologist did a laser treatment on my face last year (or was it two years ago?) and it worked great, but they’re getting dark again this summer and I’m trying to avoid them getting worse. Cute hats like the straw one above and this simple and perfect ball cap have been lifesavers!
12. I got a million messages about this pink striped top when I wore it for the photo up top! It’s light and breezy and has the perfect sleeve length! I bought one in pink and one in blue stripe! LOVE!
13. I love wearing dresses in the summer! This black eyelet dress is summer perfection, especially with my simple Madewell sandals above!
14. This is my favorite chambray shirt! The double pocket versions are not so flattering on me, but the single pocket is just right!  This top looks great tucked in with skirts, and white, black or darker denim.
15 . This black and white check top is the perfect summer weight! It’s super thin so it doesn’t feel hot and the sleeves roll up perfectly! I have it in the blue and red plaid too and I’ll probably wear it for our 4th of July celebration with white cutoffs.
16. These are the earrings I have been wearing practically non-stop for the last two or three months. I’m obsessed with the color, weight and simplicity of the brass hoop design. They are my favorite.
Yellow Swimsuit   //   Stripe Swimsuit   //  Blue Ruffle Swimsuit   //   Black Swimsuit
I hit the JACKPOT when I discovered this crazy affordable swim suit retailer! I love that they post reviews, so I can get the real scoop on how regular people (not models) look and feel in these $20-30 suits. These are the ones I have and love and they together cost less than the single suit I had been eyeing at Nordstrom. Score!
1. Rosehip Oil – A lot of beauty and lifestyle bloggers have been singing the praises of Rosehip Oil lately, so I gave this large $15 bottle a try. I’ve been using it for about two months now and I think my skin has never looked better (and I’m only about a third of the way through the bottle – what a great value!).
Here’s my nightly routine – After I wash off my makeup, I exfoliate with a scrub by ZO I got at my dermatologist (though I really like this one too, and it’s much more affordable), then I apply the $20 Retinol serum I listed here below and once the serum has soaked in, I slather this Rosehip oil all over my face. I finish up with a small amount of the eye cream below and a healthy swipe of everyone’s favorite grapefruit lip mask! And that’s it. Only takes me about three minutes, but has made the hugest difference. The Rosehip oil has antibacterial properties, so I’ve noticed I’ve had almost no break outs this summer, which is usually when my combination skin struggles! Between the Rosehip oil and my new favorite highlighter, I feel like my skin is looking younger and dewier than it has in years.
2. Brow Plumper – I had my eyebrows microbladed two years ago and its pretty much worn off by now. I discovered this super inexpensive tinted brow gel at CVS a few months ago when I noticed my brows were starting to fade and I’ve been hooked ever since – so much so that I don’t think I’ll go back for another round of microblading. (PS I splurged on Glossier’s Boy Brow a while back – and this one is SO much better and cheaper!)
3. Eye Cream – We’re all about high-low mixing here at Juniper, because we know some products are absolutely worth their weight in gold. I bought this $60 cream after Kayti raved about it in her stories, and I’m a converted believer now too! Yes, it’s pricey, and yes, the jar is on the small side, but I’m pretty sure this little jar will last me a year, if not more. The tiiiiiiiniest little swipe of your finger goes so far with this amazing, buttery smooth product! Every day I feel like my tired eyes are looking less tired! And my eye makeup is not creasing in the same way it used to after a long day, which feels like the true test, right?
4. Retinol Serum – See #1 above for my nightly face wash routine! This $20 product rivals the waaaaaaay more expensive Retinol creams I’ve bought at my derm.
Santal Candle – Every single candle in this collection (that’s all on clearance right now!) smells divine! I’m stocking up for the studio and to have on hand for quick hostess gifts!
“The Keto Reset Diet” Book – Ahhhh, Keto. SO MUCH TO SAY HERE. I think I may need to do an entire blog post about my experience with Keto. The short version is I did Keto earlier this year and lost 15 pounds in four weeks. I went on spring break and off Keto and have been able to keep the weight off since, all while eating normal. The honest truth is I have tried almost every diet on the planet the last ten years, trying to drop the 25 pounds that creeped up on me while having my babies. I’m getting ready to start another month round to hopefully lose those last 10 pounds. I read this book before starting my first Keto journey and I can’t recommend it enough if you and your doctor feel like Keto might be a good fit for you. (Also these ketosis test strips helped me stay on track!). Have you tried the Keto diet? Would you like to see a more in-depth post from me about my experience and tips?
Camera Strap – This is a pretty random board in our round up here, isn’t it? :) We’re swinging wildly from Keto to camera straps, but I got this $12 strap on Amazon and I LOVE IT! I couldn’t not share in case you’ve been going strapless like I have for years.
Ray Ban Aviators – These are the sunnies that all of you message me about when I wear them in my stories! They are the perfect update to classic Rayban Aviators. Sort of like if Aviators and Wayfarers had a baby? They’re my favorite, for sure.
HAPPY SUMMER SHOPPING, FRIENDS!! xo
