little red riding hood but there's no hood and the big bad wolf is a cat and I don't think there's anything to ride in the forest and ringo could be littler so really it's just. red.

#puyo puyo #ringo ando #ecolo #necolo #i guess i can tag necolo separately lmao even if its the same chara #took part in the eppc drawpile n drew ringo! ive been wanting to draw something little red for such a long time #ever since i properly listened to drama 3-3 and clocked ecolo saying 'the uniform's nice but the dress is a nice change of pace!'#and i zoned in on it immediately. as someone given access to working hands i am able to draw ringo in more dresses and by god im doing it #(even if technically this is a blouse-skirt combo. shh)#also while coloring i tried to limit my palette as much as i could #so everything that shares a color is the same shade and all #much easier to color and it looks cool so win-win!#took artistic liberty with ecolo by making him grey instead of blue but such are the perils. of self-imposed limitations #i traded that out by making the green more blue to fit his original palette as opposed to ringo #(since she got the majority of first color decisions anyway)#anyway it was fun. i love drawing what i personally want to see and making it everyone else's problem

scavs for some folks in the rain world discord server! they have a sort of art fight-esque event going on at the moment, and i figured it'd be a good opportunity to practice drawing more scavs :]

this was also a new, experimental technique for me—another thing i've been meaning to practice more with is combining traditional & digital mediums. i sketched & lined these on paper, then blocked them in with copics for an underpainting layer. then i took 'em into sai and painted the rest of the colors in on top (and used some weird blending mode shenanigans to ensure the lineart stayed visible). it was weird to figure out but i really like the result! i think the two on the right suffered a little from their copic colors being too similar to the final palettes, but now i know for next time

#tbb #crosshair #tbb crosshair #ct 9904 #the bad batch #Star Wars #sw #tbb spoilers #design notes:#firstly I’m not entirely happy with this but it is a first draft #it looks a little too regal for cross I think?#it’s hard to convey that he is a fashion icon but he’s also dressing practically but he’s also depressed but also he has to slay #but besides that #the tears in his sleeves are from rough housing with batcher :)#I gave him the asymmetrical shoulder pad as a nod to his armor with the sniper stabilizer shoulder pad thing #he’s wearing Star Wars chaps because he’s a cowboy at heart #his bracelet and necklace were handmade by omega (he is never taking them off)#the strap was going to hold his rifle but I decided against it at the last moment. maybe it does hold his gun sometimes #other times maybe it holds supplies #idk I wanted to get him away from his soldier ness but keep it in some aspects #the color palette is of course from their original armor ^^ mostly bc I think cross slays so hard in black and red

I broke Sonic Origins so much it restored the old CD 2011 menu

#sonic the hedgehog #sonic origins #the game is utterly broken in the latest version #if you play Sonic 1 as Tails his physics are completely busted #and if you play Labyrinth Act 1 as Tails on Switch the game crashes #if you have an old boss rush save (from 1.x.x versions of the game) and hit continue on 2.0.1 the game will break #sonic 1 ended up in a constant loop of continue screen after continue screen #sonic cd broke so hard it opened the 2011 manual and restored the 2011 menu #sonic 2 sets you back with 0 lives and if you die you go into negative lives #and if you beat a boss it'll put you into level select every time you continue that boss rush file #i couldn't test sonic 3 because i messed that boss rush save #but even then s3k's boss rush is also broken #rings weren't carrying over between bosses #and lava reef's boss uses act 2's palette instead of the act 3 color palette #and the game also runs worse on PC now #this shit is beyond broken

#sometimes composition + anatomy take too much work and there’s other things that are both more fun and also need more practice #also like. theyre fun to do #I spent the last little bit testing out a bunch of line art brushes and finally found one with a texture that I’ve been looking to replicat #so that’s nice #and I played around with the colors a bunch although to be fair I do that even when spending a shit ton of time with other stuff #but with redraws it’s fun to try and mimic the color palettes in the original and blend stuff in with the backgrounds #or just create a whole new color palette lol #idk i’m having fun with it #art ramblings

Old vs new

#all of these characters needed redesigns but for various reasons #mostly being that its old art and my design senses and skill has changed since #rain may fall was picked because compared to the other characters in her story they just felt very plain #i also planned on only giving them a brown skintone and i wasnt gonna change their hair or anything #but than while i was microwaving food i randomly thought of them with darker skin and curly pink hair and i thought it was really cute #so i did it lol #salem is a design i was never happy with even when i originally drew him i was not happy with his design #particularly cause he looked very christmas-y #so i changed his palette making the green more yellowish and the red more orangeish and i think that worked out better #delta needed a redesign for the obvious reason of being art from 2019 also i felt they didnt seem vaporwave enough #and the way the umbrella cuts off in the art i did of them looksbadman #alastair and earlene also from 2019 but also i chose them specifically because i... i needed seperate images of them #its awkward to crop that old art for their character pages #bell taurus also just old art from 2019 doesnt even have arms cause i used to not always put arms on stickman drawings #elmo primarily cause i wanted to change his colors and make him look older as well as get rid of his horns and give him a skintone #his story (and salems) had some lore development since i drew him in 2019 so this better fits the lore #belat is another design i was never happy i spent a long time on his old design fiddling with it back and forth and hated it #i decided to make him a catboy and now he looks better #and esteem. my god esteem. i got lazy with their old design and i hated it. they needed the redesign the most #anyways done rambling

Luna full-body reference, with Celestia for comparison.

Tulli worked with me a bit more on Luna. We decided to have her in a regency era dress, which matches the period of time that she was banished during (the 1820s); in stark contrast is Celestia's more modern art deco dress from the 1920s. Also in contrasts: Celestia is structured and rigid with bold lines while Luna is flowing and organic with flowers and rounded laces. Regency dresses are very youthful-looking without a lot of frills and stiff parts, while still remaining very regal and elegant. Her dark fabrics have, Epiphyllum oxypetalums, or "Princesses of the Night," embroidered on them. Her color palette was given a more cool tone to match her original design's palette.

Within the story of the AU, after returning to Canterlot, Luna cuts her hair (the source of a witch's power) short to temper herself. She wears a blue veil meant to look like her show version's hair to cover Nightmare Moon's face, which is always silhouetted in the back of her hair. The blotch on her left breast is meant to reference her cutie mark. Probably a scar from her banishment.
