Embrace Failure - It is The Road To Success!

Yeah, I've had a lot of failures in life. And the fact is, when you look at people that are successful, look, I've made hundreds of millions of dollars in my life. And when you look at people like that, you look at people who made that kind of wealth, created that kind of money, you only see their successes. How many videos are there online of shots that Michael Jordan has missed? Not a lot. People don't create highlight reels of Michael Jordan missing shots. You see the ones that he's made. 

You see the two seconds in the game and he makes the shot and everybody screams that was impossible and it happens. Those are the things that you see. So we tend to remember the wins, the successes of the people who we admire. But what we don't see is their losses. And one of the reasons is that there's probably a whole lot of them and I've had a whole lot of losses and I write about them again in my book Billion How I Became King of The Throw Pill Cult again you know. You guys check it out if you can get it at the library, if it's available get it on amazon. But in order to succeed, you have to fail.

Mirroring - An Effective Tactic To Win A Negotiation

I remember the first time I met Chris and you're like man, this guy's a FBI negotiator. He's a hostage negotiator. He's like you know, if he didn't do his job right, there'd be bodies lining up outside and he's you know, he's a tough like Chicago style guy you know, that comes in and he talks like, I'm cool man. And you know, like, this guy's been in the streets like this is a guy who is as real as it gets, as genuine as he gets, and so you would imagine that he would be a no-nonsense, like, super aggressive dude. 

And the fact is when you meet him, he is the absolute sweetest guy you'll ever meet and you could in a negotiation say something to the guy like, um well, that's ridiculous. I'd never pay that much and you would expect him to come back with something much more aggressive and I'm simplifying this but he would come back and say you would never pay for something like this, which is a technique that he teaches called mirroring, which is basically repeating back the same thing that the other person said and it makes the other person feel heard. It's a new style of negotiating and not a new style of negotiating but a style of negotiating that he's popularized.

A Key Trait of Successful People - Reversing Bad Decisions

All right, you paid 20 bucks for the movie. You're 15 minutes into it, your 20 bucks is gone. That movie is bad. Don't lose your time. Don't lose your time because you're just losing more. You're like, well, if I stay then I'm not losing the 20 bucks. No. If you stay, you're losing the 20 bucks and you're losing your time and your energy and your brain space and all that stuff. Movies aren't that good anymore anyway. Just watch Netflix. It's so much better. So I just I really feel that people should be well aware of that and and for the people that are in my Amazon course and also for our clients at podcast cola, I just recommended a book. 

I think I've recommended it on the show before, but it's one of my all-time favorites and it's called Thinking Clearly or How To Think Clearly. I think I have it here actually. In fact it is called The Art of Thinking Clearly by Rolf De Belli and in The Art of Thinking Clearly, another great one, similar to that is Thinking Fast and Thinking Slow Daniel Kahneman. I think a lot of people have read that as well. You just got to know that sometimes you made a bad decision and that's okay, but you have to be able to stop and change directions rapidly. It's one of the keys of successful people, which is what I think you're leading to and I think you know that's a really salient point.

Think Outside The Money Box To Create Wealth

I believe that if you follow good sound financial principles, you think outside the box and you can survive if you hack and grow rich, like is the title of our show Bart, you can get wealthy while everybody else is struggling to just get by. And this happens in every economy. You look at the turn of the century, you look at the 1930s, the dust bowl, we had a lot of repeats of what's happening now. If I was, in fact I was looking at some footage of the 1930s, of the great depression and the depression era and you watch those videos and the crazy thing is that a lot of that stuff is coming back like, people moving out of their houses into these tiny homes like because it was boho chic, but yet you save money. 

That's happening now. There's a whole tiny house movement. You see people living out of their cars and these encampments that happened during the great depression. And then you see people like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos and all these people that we talk about with this enormous wealth and then there's a whole another group of people that are creating mega wealth. I know a lot of the guys that you and I know and and have hung out with have companies that are valued in the billions with a B. If you remember, like in the 1990s, nothing sold for a billion. I mean no company, certainly no tech company sold in the billions for it with a B. No startup tech company. Of course, the giants were probably had that valuation, but now it's like there's unicorns everywhere. There's so many companies that have sold for a billion or more, even wacky little companies where you're like oh, that sold for a billion and there's a huge amount of wealth being created. So ultimately I think you have to make a choice on where you want to be when hits the fan.

Mastering The Art To Communicate In Business

Learning the language that you need to be able to speak to that specific niche is going to be the difference between succeeding and failing. So I'm sure in your industry, Enriquez, there's a certain language and over the many years that you've become a master, agent, broker selling properties. You've mastered that language. You know how to sell a property. You know hey, I gotta get this photographer and take these angles of shots and I know I've got to write this kind of copy you know and I always get a chuckle out of the way. You guys write copy for properties. It's just hilarious um but you've got to write a certain amount of copy and then there's a certain way you got to talk to buyers, a certain way you got to talk to sellers and there's there's an art to it.

Measuring Risk And Dealing With Authentic Growth Hacks

So there's there's lots of ways, lots of hacks to do that but you know no one there's no one thing that you're gonna do that's gonna make your thing pop. You got to think again, yeah you got to think foundational. You got to do all of that stuff and then truly you know I'm going to give a disclaimer that I don't recommend anybody do anything black hat against terms of service but again you know most people do a little white hat greyhound little black hat stuff you know and and that's the way the world goes around. You know and you're if you're not going to do it your competitors will and then that's where you're going to find yourself. So you got to be at the top of your game with whatever you're doing and it's really a game of measuring risk right. You look at the tactics that are available to you and the risk involved with each of those tactics.

So I realized that I could get into these buildings late at night when the brokers weren't in there, wake up in the morning before they got there and I'd be out and I'd be living in luxury houses, maybe there wasn't electricity or water in those days in some of the places because they weren't built yet but it was a safe place to lay my head and subsequent to that I realized that there was a big electronic music scene. I had found a mentor, a guy who had agreed to take me under his wing and he was very familiar with the electronic music scene, the rave scene, the dance scene. So I got involved in that. I started throwing some clubs to make a little bit of extra money. I was still sleeping wherever I could lay my head and I remember that I would sleep behind the speakers, most people don't know this. In front of speakers, very loud, very hard to sleep. Behind speakers, super quiet and very warm. So I would sleep behind the speakers. I would wake up the club, would still be going on and I started looking around thinking how is the money being made in these places to realize only that it was by the drug dealers.
