Hello! Hope your day is going well. I was wondering if for the Compresses Power Rangers Timeline AU, if you could list the teams, who's on each team, their rough age and what they do(and possibly the town's name-or would it make sense to use Angel Grove?). I really want to make a one shot of a typical day in this town for the AU, but I only know Ninja Steel, Dino Charge, Samaria and MMPR. I want to make this as accurate as possible. Thanks! Fashion teacher: ms. Garcia
Mr. Garcia keeps his regular job but also gives Javi less of a hard time because music teachers are supposed to be able to play a bunch of different instruments and it looks like he has good chance to take Maya’s place when she leaves the school
Solon remains in the base because she is a dinosaur
Extra notes I came up with on the fly
K is growingly more paranoid due to the number of ranger teams she has evidence have robots in their ranks especially the beast morphers since that’s the team their closest too
Preston was “bullied” out of the magic the gathering club by the mystic rangers due to Vida trying to accuse him of being an evil wizard without blowing their cover. Vida’s exact words were “we don’t don’t want your kind around here”. The ninja steel team now thinks the magic the gathering club is homophobic towards Preston and hates them. Ironically the mystic rangers all love the blue ninja steel ranger and the ninja steel rangers really life the mystic force.
Summer after spending the entire night fighting vengix and exhausted as she walks in the door and Mack the day after he found out he’s a robot. “Summer would you still be my friend if I was a robot?” “Absolutely not” cue Mack having a break down in the janitor closet only to be found by Ben and Betty who assure him they would still be his friends even if he was a robot
Mick is the impromptu medic to most of the robotic rangers
Tyzon is not sure what normal human anatomy should look like so he just copies a lot of what he’s seen Dana do but also does know someone from aquatar when he sees one and treats their injuries accordingly and the aquatar rangers just think he’s a human whose really good with secrets
The teachers are youngish (most haven’t hit 30 yet) and I use TA as a short hand for teachers in training so they’re earlier 20s. And then most of the students besides Justin and Nate are between 14-18 with Justin and Nate both being 12.
Generally everyone else is around the age they are in the show

Someone in my neighbourhood has a ratty old pickup truck. It’s honestly not that old – a Ford from the late nineteen-eighties – but it’s great. Old trucks have a fantastic combination of traits. On one hand, you have an old vehicle, with its rustic charm, temperamental behaviour, and hot gear oil smells of unknown origin. And on the other, you have a vehicle that doesn’t need to be babied. You can still drive it down to the local brick emporium and chuck some bricks in the back. Nobody is wiping it down with a diaper or taking it to the Amelia Island Concours.
It is also difficult in my neighbourhood to find another old-car deviant. Most of the folks who were forced to maintain and daily drive an old shitbox have been evicted or moved away on their own, ideally closer to a parts store. Naturally, I wanted to talk to this truck-owning person. Maybe they wanted to be friends, or they could help hold the flashlight while I tried to work, or they could use the authentic blue-collar-ness of their pickup truck to lure the cops away from whatever dirtbag shit I was up to in the middle of the night.
In order to try and find the home of this truck, I started driving around the neighbourhood. This is harder than you’d think, because low speeds make the transmission in my Volare freak out, and slow 90-degree turns will spill some of its seeping automatic transmission fluid right onto the exhaust. I can only take a few minutes of this at a time, before I have to merge onto the highway and drive fast enough for the wind to blow the fire out. As a result, I never saw the truck while I was driving, only when I was on my driveway or walking to get the mail.
My pickup-shaped phantom is still out there, somewhere. I may never encounter them the legitimate way, but I’ve got a plan: laying a trap. There’s one thing that old Ford truck owners can’t resist, and that’s a bottle of power-steering stop leak. I’ve placed it in the middle of the street, and it’s only a matter of time before the owner has to pull over and hop out. Wait, someone’s stopping. God damn it, that’s a new F150. Get away from there, you bourgeois asshole! You’re probably still under warranty!

20 | Soup on Rainy Days 🍲
October 3, 2023
“Bradley,ˮ Lucy rasped grasping at his locks as he bit down on the soft skin of her shoulders and the side of her neck. The sun had just began to rise on the horizon, the stray shards of its rays casting pale light in fragments of her room. The sun- catcher that hung from the window caught the early morning just enough to scintillate prisms of color across the side of Lucyʼs face as Bradley looked downupon her, their legs intertwined and their chests touching. His fingers wandered underneath her old swim-meet shirt and grazed the underside of her warm breasts. He loved the way she shivered beneath him when he did so.
“Youʼre going to be late,ˮ she whispered as she twirled her finger in his curls. He shifted by her side, staring at her face.
“Whatʼs a few minutes?ˮ
“Who is this Bradley?ˮ She smiled. “I remember mine being such a stickler for time?ˮ
“He sounds like an old man,ˮ he remarked.
“Itʼs one of the things I love about him actually,ˮ she smirked. “Itʼs one of the things that makes him so... Daddy.ˮ
Bradley chuckled deeply, before taking her sweet lips against his and burying themselves deeper into the covers. Lucy sighed, her hips rising to meet his as their lips continued to meet. She raked her nails against her broad and firm backside, his warmth bringing comfort — Bradley was here and he was hers. Just then, a ring resounded.
“Love,ˮ Lucy breathed between kisses. “You h-have to p-pick it up... Mmmm... M- might be work...ˮ
“They can wait,ˮ he replied, fluttering his lips across the length of her neck. Lucy pressed a hand against his chest gently as the phone ringed for a fourth time. Groaning, Bradley reached across to retrieve his phone from her nightstand. Holding the phone to his periphery as he sat up, Lucy kneeled and wrapped his arms around him. She kissed his scarred cheeks sweetly and laid her own against his shoulder.
“... Donʼt worry about it.... Okay... Take care...ˮ He mumbled. His brow was creased as he turned to face Lucy.
“Whatʼs wrong?ˮ She asked softly.
“Mavʼs come down with something and he canʼt come in today,ˮ he replied as he tucked a stray strand behind her ear.
“Is anyone taking care of him?ˮ
Bradley regarded her thoughtfully before tucking her against his side.
“Pennyʼs on a girls trip and Amelia is at a school meet,ˮ he hummed. “Iʼll probably swing by before I come home to you.ˮ
“Wonʼt you be working late because of a mandatory meeting of sorts?ˮ
“Oh shit,ˮ Bradley murmured as he raised his fingers to his temple. “Forgot about that.ˮ
“What if I swing by instead?ˮ Lucy suggested as he traced circles on the back of his hand. “I could bring him some food, help him around the house…”
“Youʼd do that Angel?ˮ He smiled. She nodded meekly. They stayed in each otherʼs silence and warmth.
“Itʼs okay you know,ˮ Bradley told her. “That you want to have a relationship with him.ˮ
“I know,ˮ Lucy sighed. “But sometimes I feel like if I do, I would be betraying mom. She came here and raised us all by herself — working nearly 60 hours a week and homeschooling us at the same time…”
He held her closer.
“All my life,ˮ she whispered. “Iʼve always felt so different from Ford and Mom... that Iʼve always thought that I was probably a little more like my... dad.ˮ
“And thereʼs nothing wrong with that, baby.ˮ
“What will he even say?ˮ
“Mav is a good person Angel,ˮ Bradley told her. “Your existence isnʼt your own fault— and without a doubt, Iʼm sure he wonʼt shun you for it.ˮ
“Iʼm scared,ˮ she rasped.
“Iʼll be there,ˮʼ he whispered. “Whenever youʼre ready. Okay?ˮ
“Okay.ˮ
Bradley kissed her once more and left his lips on hers for a while, until the sun had crept high enough and it was time for the day ahead of them to unfold. They moved knowingly, minding each otherʼs movements automatically as they commenced the day together. When Bradley had emerged from the bathroom, the bed had already been made and his uniform had been laid out and pressed. He smiled, hearing the cacophony of sounds from the kitchen — the clanging of pans, the flicker of flame, the opening of the fridge, the dull thud of knife against board. After Bradley had donned on his khakis, he entered into the kitchen and leaned against the counter. He smiled at the sight before him — right to Lucy was a prepared salty ham, brie, and apricot sourdough sandwich and left to her was a salad bowl she was throwing chopped cherry tomatoes in. Her hips were swaying gently to “Moon River,ˮ singing to the lyrics sweetly.
“Moon river, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some dayyyy
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way....ˮ
“Two drifters,ˮ Bradley cut in, his deep voice fitting perfectly with her own. “Off to see the world. There's such a lot of world to see...ˮ
Lucy placed the last slices of cherry tomatoes in the bowl, turning to him as he neared— placing her in his arms and resting her head against his chest as they both swayed to Audrey Hepburn. They sang together:
“We're after the same rainbow's end
Waitin' 'round the bend,
My huckleberry friend,
Moon river and me...ˮ
“I packed your lunch,ˮ she told him quietly. “And your coffee and pandesal is on the counter for you before you leave.ˮ
“Thank you Angel,ˮ he whispered.
“You should go,ˮ she urged him softly. “Youʼre going to be la—“
“Move in with me.ˮ
“What?ˮ
“I want you to,ˮ he gazed into her eyes deeply. “Iʼm sick of an empty house. I want to wake up just like this every morning and be beside you just before we fall asleep. I want a home with you, baby.ˮ
“Bradley—“
“You donʼt have to answer now,ˮ he said. “But itʼs on the table, and itʼs something ready to be picked up whenever you want it to.ˮ
Lucy nodded, taking his cheek in her hand and pulling it towards her lips.
Tying her curls up with a clamp and securing the apron around her back, Lucy gazed upon the index card that she had previously laid on the counter. It was yellow and weathered from age. The words were inscribed with her grandmother Mayumiʼs hand. She smiled at her cursive, loopy and minuscule and eccentric — much like herself really. When Tala was working nights four days a week with 13 and 14 shifts as an ER nurse in her youth, Lucy took her place in the kitchen when she and Ford were left alone at home. The transition was quite natural— one of Lucyʼs fondest memories of the motherland was cooking with Mayumi in the kitchen in the heart of her family home. When she wasnʼt in the water at the beach outside, Lucy would often watch her grandmother cook. She was known to posses a voracious appetite among her cousins, especially for her grandmotherʼs food. Lucy bent down to retrieve a heavy, stainless steel soup pot behind a cabinet door. She grazed the inscribed name on its handle with the pad of her thumb. Mayumi. This, and her box of recipes on index cards is what she passed on to Lucy when she could no longer cook on the account of her hand injury — worn out from years of manual labor.
Lucy began by boiling the chicken breast in the soup pot and preparing the macaroni pasta in a separate container. While waiting for the chicken and pasta, she cut up the celery, onions, carrots, and lots of garlic. She also opened a can of evaporated milk. When the chicken was ready, she took it out of the pot and set the broth aside. Lucy then proceeded to sauté the garlic, onion, celery, carrots all together and season them according to taste. As everything was waiting to soften, Lucy chopped the chicken roughly and threw them in another pan to brown slightly. It was then that everything was prepared to be combined. Lucy added the browned chicken, the water, a cube-condensed flavoring and the can of evaporated milk into the pot and stirred. After leaving it to simmer, she seasoned the concoction until it was just right. She also added some leaves of parsley, and chopped avocado as a final touch — her own spin on the recipe.
“Ito anak,ˮ she recalled her grandmother would tenderly say to her as a little girl, raising the spoon of hot soup and macaroni to her lips after checking her forehead with the back of her hand.
“Salamat Nay,ˮ she would sigh— relief and appetite returning whenever she would taste this recipe dribbling down her sore throat.
After throwing on a pair of jeans, a tank top, and a light cardigan, Lucy set off in her burgundy-colored Nissan Versa to Pennyʼs house. She balanced the heavy pot of sopas as she pressed the doorbell. A few minutes later, she could hear the padding of heavy feet and the commotion of the lock. Before her, Pete emerged at the threshold. His nose and cheeks blushing, his eyes gleaming, and his pallor evident. He was dressed in a olive crew neck sweater with gray sweat pants. A few tissues were sticking out of his pocket and his lockets were tousled.
“Hi Lucy,ˮ Pete smiled. “Bradley said youʼd come by.ˮ
“Here I am,ˮ she replied nervously. “How are you feeling, Mav?ˮ
“I donʼt usually get sick,ˮ he chuckled. “But when I do, itʼs bad.ˮ
“Iʼm the same way, and Iʼm sorry.ˮ
“Donʼt worry about it,ˮ he grinned. “Come in! Iʼm dying to see what you got in that pot!ˮ
Lucy laughed lightly, entering the home. She set the soup pot on the stove, Pete assisting her to set it exactly on the metal grid. He gazed at the stainless steel pot thoughtfully before his eyes fell upon the handle.
“Hey Iʼve seen this before,ˮ he remarked, the pad of this thumb grazing the handle.
“It was my grandmotherʼs,ˮ Lucy replied. “She stopped cooking a few years back because of a wrist injury.ˮ
“Iʼm sorry to hear that,ˮ Pete frowned. “Sheʼs a great cook. Can she not move it as much as before—?ˮ
“She can still season and stir, but work like — preparing the meat and chopping vegetables, lifting and anything labor-heavy sheʼs not recommended to do.ˮ
“She used to make for me this sour soup whenever I came over,ˮ Pete recalled fondly. “It was with lapu-lapu fish, and some kind of water spinach—“
“Sinigang?ˮ Lucy confirmed.
“Yes!ˮ He smiled. “Thatʼs the one.ˮ
Lucy lit the stove, warming the sopas. She then proceeded to take a jar of ground ginger she had packed and looked for a small sauce pan to boil water.
“You should go ahead and rest,ˮ she told him. “Have you taken Tylenol or Ibuprofen today for your symptoms?ˮ
“Yep,ˮ Pete replied. “Popped about five or six cups yesterday.ˮ
“Mav!ˮ Lucy sighed. “You shouldnʼt be taking more than four a day!ˮ
“Why not?ˮ
“Theyʼre hepatotoxic— they can be bad for your liver when taken in high doses at a time,ˮ she explained. “You should be drinking a lot of water. What are your symptoms now?ˮ
Pete stared at her.
“I have uh... a stuffy nose, Iʼm a little dizzy, and I still feel kinda heavy... but Iʼm okay I guess.ˮ
“Okay,ˮ she said, getting a jug from a cabinet and filling it with water. “Hereʼs what weʼre doing: youʼre going to rest over there, Iʼm going to make some ginger tea, and youʼre going to eat when this heats up a little more. In the mean time...ˮ
Lucy handed him the jug and retrieved a thermometer from her pocket. “Youʼre going to take your temperature and drink as much as you can.ˮ
“Yes maʼam,ˮ Pete chuckled as he took a seat. Mav took his place on the couch and continued to watch Lucy as she stirred the contents of the pot and added the ground ginger into the boiling water. A few minutes later, Lucy rounded the couch and placed the serving tray of ginger tea and sopas on the living room table.
“Whatʼs your temp?ˮ
“100.8ˮ
“Not for long,ˮ Lucy smiled. “Here—“
Mav neared the bowl to his gaze, its creamy broth swaying with its contents as he moved. The delicious smell penetrated his compromised senses. It had the fragrance of herbs and roasted meat. He brought a spoonful of it to his lips, and upon discovering the macaroni a blissful grin broke out across his lips.
“Chicken sopas,ˮ Mav nodded. “Itʼs like what your mother used to make but — better. Please donʼt tell her that.ˮ
“I wonʼt,ˮ Lucy laughed lightly. “Her passive-aggressiveness is something Iʼd spare myself from any day.ˮ
Mav tasted the ginger tea after blowing ripples and steam across its amber surface.
“My sinuses are singing,ˮ Mav sighed. “Thanks, Lucy— I feel so much better already.ˮ
“Donʼt worry about it,ˮ she replied, smiling, as he enthusiastically gulped down the tea and basically ate the whole bowl of the sopas in its entirety.
To Lucy, it felt so right being there for him — her father, who doesnʼt even know that he was one to a set of boy and girl fraternal twins. She wondered then at that moment if she should tell him of what she thought was the truth — to make him confirm everything: the letters, his relationship to Tala, and how he felt about her. No, she then thought, let me be selfish and bask in this a little longer — under the guise of false ignorance so I wouldnʼt be betraying my own mother... at least not yet. She considered Bradleyʼs words with great consideration. So what if she wanted to feel closer to her own father? Was it so wrong to get to know someone you had naturally come from? All her life, Lucy wondered why she felt so different from the family she was raised in and perhaps he was the answer. Feeling restless, and waiting for Mav to finish to serve him a third helping, Lucy walked about the living room and spotted a row of photos on the mantle above the fireplace. The first couple of photos were of several different trips comprising primarily of Amelia, Penny, Mav, and Bradley. There was another picture with the latter pair in the hangar together, and another picture of all the Daggers with Mav in the middle. As Lucy worked down the row of frames, she came across a young Carole and Nicholas Bradshaw with Mav on Caroleʼs right and arm around her. Little Bradley was between his parents, smiling wide with pink cheeks and a toy jet in his chubby little hand. Lucy smiled taking out her phone and getting a good picture. She then saw a picture of Mav, all swagger in the leather jacket, aviators on his nose, and a bike— posing in front of an airbase.
“Is that a... Kawasaki Ninja 900?ˮ
“Yeah... it is...ˮ Pete turned to her curiously. “You ride?ˮ
“I used to...ˮ Lucy shrugged, smiling shyly. “Back into high school... and college.ˮ
“Really?ˮ He replied. “I bet your mom wasnʼt so happy about that.ˮ
“No she wasnʼt...ˮ she chuckled as she sat down beside him.
“How did she manage that?ˮ
“She never really had to,ˮ she sighed, their eyes meeting knowingly.
“You hid it from her?ˮ Pete raised a brow. “Now Iʼd love to hear the story behind this.ˮ
“We only had one conversation about it,ˮ Lucy began. “I told her that I was planning on working to pay for a bike and she freaked out because apparently theyʼre—“
“Death machines,ˮ they said simultaneously.
“... and she said that no daughter of hers was going to look like a—“
“Thug,ˮ they repeated in unison once more. They shared a laugh, and as their giggles resided... they stared at each other for a considerable amount of time.
“I eventually got a Ninja 500,ˮ Lucy said. “I worked it off selling cookies and taking shifts at Wendyʼs. I loved that bike...ˮ
“Loved?ˮ
“I had to sell it awhile back...ˮ she answered. “Needed to pay off some stuff...ˮ
A beat.
“You know...ˮ Pete sighed. “In the best way, you may look like and act your mom, but you arenʼt her at all. Youʼre something special, Lucy.ˮ
“Thanks Mav,ˮ Lucy replied.
“Thank you,ˮ he insisted. “I wouldʼve probably just eaten a couple of Ritz crackers and washed it down with some Gatorade if you didnʼt come in to check on me.ˮ
“Just Ritz and Gatorade?ˮ She mocked with a gasp. “Oh, Mav...ˮ
“I know! Iʼm hopeless...ˮ Pete raised his hands. Another laughed rippled past their lips.
“Hey,ˮ he breathed. “If you ever want to go in a ride together, I have a spare in the hangar with your name on it.ˮ
“Bradley doesnʼt ride?ˮ
“Only backseat on a good day.ˮ
They laughed again.
“You know what would really taste good with that sopas that I unfortunately forgot to bring?ˮ Lucy said to him.
“Vinegar?ˮ Pete suggested.
“Itʼs like you can read my mind,ˮ Lucy whispered. Pete barked another laugh.
Lucy spent three more hours in Peteʼs company before she begrudgingly went home. She was surprised at the variety of topics they had for conversation aside from Tala. Motorbikes aside, they discussed about some of their favorite music — generally 1980ʼs classic rock, Peteʼs career in aviation, Lucyʼs research, Mayumiʼs recipes that they both enjoyed and so on. Talking to Pete Mitchell felt familiar to Lucy— as if she was conversing with an old friend or even parts of herself that she herself forgot. The Lucy that went on long joyrides, played rock music at full volume, experimented with more masculine fashion styles, and was unafraid to test the boundary of her motherʼs ubiquitous rules. All her life Lucy thought despite looking uncannily like her mother, she was surely adopted... until now. As she passed the threshold of her apartment, she spotted an envelope on the floor before her feet. She bent to pick it up and held the writing on its backside to her eyes.
From: Celeste Diaz
NYPD 99th Precinct
65 6th Avenue
Brooklyn, NY 11217
Lucy immediately tore the envelope and revealed its contents with ease. Unfolding the paper, her breath shook and her gaze faltered. Her hand searched for the wall behind her and allowed her body lean against it as she slid towards the floor — cold beneath her palms, cold like the shiver that numbed her limbs and ran down her spine, cold like the weather that welcomed its first rainfall.
Dun, dun, dunnnnn! Lucy just got something in mail and I don’t think it’s good news… will we finally know what happened to Ford? Let’s find out in 21 | That Day. Thanks for reading and see you at the next 5-chapter update!

The Animal Doctor Is In: Part 5 (Rhett Abbott x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: You and Rhett definitely weren't counting on the new arrivals of the week, but despite the hardships, it's always a pleasure
Warnings: Animal birth, mentions of animal neglect etc.
Tagging: @floydsmuse @hederasgarden @attapullman @rhettabbotts @sebsxphia
Rhett leaned against the porch railing, drinking as much water out of his Yeti as he possibly could. God it was hot, way too hot for anybody's own good. Royal had told the hands that they absolutely had to take frequent breaks for a dive in the pond and to do what they could to keep cool. The Amelia County Steiner School where Amy and Rose Hawk attended farm camp, had called and emailed all the families of the students to let them know that camp had to be postponed until the heatwave had let up and it didn't look like it would be any time soon.
The baying of two hound dogs suddenly reached his ears along with the sight of a truck and trailer pulling up to the gate. "Napoleon! Shut the fuck up! Jeez you and Lafayette are menaces!"
Napoleon, the big bloodhound, trotted up to Rhett along with his partner in crime, a basset hound named Lafayette. He sat right at Rhett's feet, his big droopy features curling into a canine grin.
"Ya'll are more trouble than you're worth," Rhett laughed.
Lafayette started baying again a minute later as you shut the storm door behind you, the hinge hissing before it clicked. "The hell are ding and dong barking at?" you asked.
"I think Brian's back," Rhett answered as Napoleon tried to put his paws up on Rhett's shoulders. "Not sure with what but he's got the trailer."
You and Rhett squinted in the bright sunlight to find another pickup truck behind them, a dark green Ford f150 belonging to Pastor Jim. "Weird," Rhett thought aloud. "The hell's Pastor Jim doin up here?"
"Lets go find out," you said, slipping your sandals onto your feet.
You and Rhett headed down to the pasture where Brian and Pastor Jim were busy unloading three new dairy cows, all of them in terrible shape.
"S'happenin Jim?" Rhett asked the pastor.
"Ain't lookin too good Rhett," Jim answered, adjusting his Budweiser baseball cap on his head. "Not sure if they're gonna even make it to the barn tonight."
"Where'd they come from?" you asked.
"The fuckin Cranston farm up the road," Pastor Jim said with pure and utter disgust. "Roped to a post, standin in mud up to their knees and nothin in the trough for food. Water was greener than a turtle turd. Oldest one's pregnant too."
"Jeez!" Rhett exclaimed. "Please tell me Burl's goin to jail for this."
"Yep," Jim said. "Judge doesn't tolerate shit like this. He's a repeat offender too."
You and Rhett watched as the cows were unloaded, the first being a red and white hereford cow with obvious welts and marks all over her from neglect. Poor thing was so thin that her ribs were showing and her hooves a painful oozing mess.
You and Rhett immediately set to the barn to try and help them, especially the hereford. She looked at Rhett with her sad, dark eyes, her ears twitching and her sides large with the calf she was carrying. "Oh God honey," he sighed. "You're a mess, ya know that?"
You and Rhett gagged when you saw the terrible state her hooves were in. He liberally poured on the antiseptic liquid that Royal used when any of them had an infected hoof, the poor girl mooing in pain as you and Rhett cleaned away the greenish ooze.
"Should we name her?" you asked, running the flea brush over her fur.
"I dunno darlin," Rhett sighed. "She ain't lookin too good and I don't wanna get too attached to her."
You gave her a few scritches under her chin, her head coming to rest in your hand. "Maybe we should call her Muggy since it's so hot out," you chuckled.
"Nah," Rhett chuckled. "She kinda reminds me of Ma's older sister, Maggie."
All of a sudden, the heifer's head lifted, her eyes meeting yours for the briefest of seconds. "I know that look," Rhett said, smiling.
You laughed with him as you finished up with Maggie. The other two had chosen their own names as well, you and Rhett laughing at the fact that neither of you two would be able to escape naming your menagerie of critters after Disney characters.
That night, a thunderstorm had rolled into Wabang with you and Rhett sticking close to the barn just in case something came up. You were so deep in sleep, that you hardly noticed the pained mooing coming from Maggie's stall.
"Aw shit," you hissed. "Rhett! Rhett!! Wake up!"
Rhett jerked awake. "S'matter?"
"I think it's time."
Rhett hurried to the stall and sure enough, you were right. "Alright darlin, it's go time," he chuckled.
He rolled up his sleeves and scrubbed in, just as he always did. You helped keep Maggie calm while Rhett worked his magic, reaching in to help turn the calf. "Aw jeez Maggie, you're really takin your time with this," Rhett mumbled, his words strained from trying to keep a good grip on her calf.
"C'mon baby, c'mon, ya gotta help me out and push," Rhett encouraged.
You kept stroking Maggie's fur, encouraging the heifer to push while Rhett helped her along. "God she's fuckin tight!" Rhett strained.
It was one long strain of sucking in breaths, f-bombs and pained moos before the calf finally emerged and fell into the hay. "Looks like we've got a girl darlin," Rhett proudly announced, drying her off with a shitty old towel.
"Oh my God she's adorable!" you squeaked.
Rhett dried her off and cleared away all the slimy fluids before she started breathing. Maggie helped take care of the rest, licking her baby before the calf stood on her knobby little legs and latched onto her mother's udder.
Once you and Rhett had cleaned up and put everything away, you kept a close eye on the two of them. "You think she'll do ok?" you asked.
"No doubt darlin, this one's one tough mother," Rhett joked.
You kissed your husband, the two of you laughing as you watched mother and baby and the storm finally clearing over Wabang.
