Band that has horror vibes:
Band: The Cramps
Year: 1976
Tumblr media
Some history:
The Cramps were an American punk rock band, formed in 1976 and active until 2009. The band split after the death of lead singer Lux Interior. Their line-up rotated much over their existence. Occasional bass guitarist Poison Ivy the only permanent members.
They were part of the early CBGB punk rock movement that had emerged in New York. The Cramps are noted as influencing a number of musical styles: not only were they one of the first garage punk bands, they are also widely recognized as one of the prime innovators of psychobilly. (Wiki, Contributors to Punk. “The Cramps.” Punk Wiki. Accessed April 25, 2024. https://punk.fandom.com/wiki/The_Cramps.)

1983 - When they recorded Smell of Female live at New York's Peppermint Lounge; Kid Congo Powers subsequently departed. Mike Metoff of The Pagans (cousin of Nick Knox) was the final second guitarist – albeit only live – of the Cramps' pre-bass era.
1985 - The Cramps recorded a one-off track for the horror movie The Return of the Living Dead called "Surfin' Dead", on which Ivy played bass as well as guitar.
1986 - With the release A Date With Elvis, the Cramps permanently added a bass guitar to the mix, but had trouble finding a suitable player, so Ivy temporarily filled in as the band's bassist.
——————-

Stevie nicks and the pretenders setlist

#Stevie nicks and the pretenders setlist mac#
The Pretenders cross the bridge between punk, new wave and Top 40 pop music more than any other band, with hit songs like I'll Stand By You, Back On The Chain Gang and Don't Get Me Wrong.
#Stevie nicks and the pretenders setlist mac#

A full list of tour dates follows this release.Īmerican Express Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Wednesday, September 7 at 10:00 a.m. Produced exclusively by Live Nation, the 27-city tour with Pretenders, will begin on Tuesday, October 25 in Phoenix, Arizona and will see the legendary Nicks perform throughout North America this Fall with shows scheduled in New York City, Los Angeles, Toronto, Vancouver, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta and more. LOS ANGELES (September 6, 2016) – Singer Stevie Nicks, the multi-platinum, Grammy® Award Winning-music icon today announced The 24 Karat Gold Tour. STEVIE NICKS ANNOUNCES 27 CITY NORTH AMERICAN 24 KARAT GOLD TOUR WITH PRETENDERS * replaced with Gypsy (from the Bethlehem, PA show) ** Fleetwood Mac show at Classic East and Classic West * Recorded for subsequent Live In Concert film and CD/vinyl release Sorry this isn't more detailed I guess I thought the 2011 show was better.More details available at Stevie's official website But I don't think I would pay that sort of money for anyone again, except for Mark KNopfler, and I think if he comes back he would play a bigger venue. I also wasn't in the first four rows as I had thought I would be, but just behind. It was nice being able to stand around & have a few drinks for free, but it meant I never got near the merchandise. I paid a lot of money for the hospitality package for which I got a laminate & a drinks holder, which I then lost. She told one story she said she'd never told an audience before, and of course now I don't remember what it was. While her stories were interesting, you don't remember them afterwards. My only complaint was that she talked far too much. I wonder if this is the same Marilyn Martin who duetted with Phil Collins on Separate Lives? I had to leave when the encore started so I missed Landslide, unfortunately.Īn interesting snippet is that one of the backing singers, Lori, couldn't make it, so was replaced with a woman Stevie referred to as Marilyn Martin. But for me the absolute standout was the magnficent Gold Dust Woman, a song I can never hear enough. Obviously Stop Draggin' My Heart Around with Chrissie was a high point, as was Edge Of Seventeen. Stand Back was dedicated to Prince I had no idea he played on the song. I was pleased to hear Outside The Rain, Bella Donna & The Wild Heart & it was certainly interesting to hear a Buckingham Nicks song (Crying In The Night). Kudos to her for doing some deep cuts, most of which I didn't know. This is Stevie's setlist (I assume Adelaide was the same as Sydney which hasn't been added yet: Great to hear Thumbelina & Middle Of The Road from Learning to Crawl, and Hymn To Her which is a superb song. Chrissie Hynde still has an amazing voice. Well, I had a good time, but I honestly think the Pretenders stole the show.

BIPOC PEOPLE IN THE ROCK MUSIC INDUSTRY
Post inspired by, and is an extension of this lovely post about POC emo icons by @rpf-bat. If I get anything wrong, please feel free to correct me. I’m going to try to keep the bios relatively short and sweet so I don’t write an entire essay. All my information was found from Google/Spotify search results or my pre-existing knowledge. Feel free to DM me for specific sources. Fair Use for educational purposes, no copywright infringement intended.
Acrassicauda: Iraqi metal band from Baghdad. Andy Capper and Gabi Sifre wrote Heavy Metal in Baghdad: The Story of Acrassicauda about the band’s formation and their fight to be able to play the music they love.
Tumblr media
Booboo Stewart (Vic Lakota from The Relentless in Paradise City and American Satan, Seth Clearwater from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Jay from Disney’s Descendants, among many others): Blackfoot, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese.
Tumblr media
Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave, The Nightwatchman): biracial- Kenyan and white (quick side note: Morello has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Harvard, which I thought was really cool).
Tumblr media
The HU: Mongolian metal band. They’ve worked with the likes of Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach (The Wolf’s Totem), Lzzy Hale of Halestorm (Song of Women), and Danny Case of From Ashes to New (Yuve Yuve Yu).
Tumblr media
Jose “The Metal Ambassador” Mangin (radio personality/host and interviewer, Sirius XM): Mexican-American. Is often hosting on Sirius XM Octane and Liquid Metal.
Tumblr media
Meet Me @ The Altar: Pop punk trio made up entirely of BIPOC musicians Edith Johnson (Black), Téa Campbell (Black), and Ada Juarez (Latinx). Three of their popular songs are Hit Like a Girl, Feel a Thing, and Garden.
Tumblr media
Nandi Bushell: Zulu and white. The twelve year-old drummer has collaborated with Roman Morello, Tom Morello, Jack Black, and Greta Thunberg on Roman’s song The Children Will Rise Up! She has also played with the likes of Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters, Roger Taylor of Queen, Ringo Starr of The Beatles, and Matt Helders of The Arctic Monkeys (and likely more that I’m missing).
Tumblr media
Joe Hahn (Linkin Park, Mr. Hahn): Korean-American. The man behind the band’s turntables and keyboard. Linkin Park’s Cure for The Itch on their album Hybrid Theory (2000) specifically highlights Hahn on the turntables within the first minute.
Tumblr media
Ayron Jones: African-American. Jones is gaining traction in the scene. Two songs of his I’d like to note are Spinning Circles and Mercy from his 2021 album Child of the State. He has toured with the likes of Shinedown (and makes a hilarious feature in one of the band’s Tiktoks) and will tour with The Pretty Reckless and Black Stone Cherry this year.
Tumblr media
BIPOC ICONS
Chuck Berry (The Chuck Berry Trio, Sir John’s Trio) Black. Widely successful, influential singer and guitarist known for Johnny B. Goode, You Can Never Tell, and No Particular Place To Go. Berry’s legacy is still deeply felt in his contemporaries today.
Prince (Prince and The Revolution, “The Artist Formerly Known as Prince,” 3rdeyegirl, Madhouse, 94 East, The Family) Black. Groundbreaking, inventive, and androgynous artist known for hits like When Doves Cry and Purple Rain. Prince has also written songs for others like Sinead O’Connor (Nothing Compares 2 U) and The Bangles (Manic Monday).
Jimi Hendrix (The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Band of Gypsys, Kings of Rhythm, Jimmy James and The Blue Frames): Black and Cherokee. Acknowledged by many to be one of the greatest (if not the greatest) guitarists of all time.
Slash (Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver, Spinal Tap, Road Crew, and entirely too many others to list): biracial- Nigerian and white. He’s the guitarist for Guns N Roses, whose hits include (but are not limited to) Welcome to The Jungle and Sweet Child O’ Mine. He joined his bandmates of Guns N’ Roses Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum in the early 2000s to form Velvet Revolver, recruiting Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots for vocals. He continues to release music, especially with Myles Kennedy of Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators and Alter Bridge (see Driving Rain).
Robert Trujilo (Metallica, Suicidal Tendencies, Mass Mental, Infectious Grooves): Mexican and unspecified Native American descent. Trujilo replaced Jason Newsted as guitarist for Metallica, starting as a full time recording member with St. Anger (2003).
Carlos Santana (Santana): Mexican-born Latinx. A legendary guitarist, Santana’s song Smooth featuring Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas is still an incredibly popular hit to this day. A prolific part of the song is Santana’s guitar work at the beginning of and throughout the song. The riff is considered to rather iconic to rock music as a genre.
Freddie Mercury (Queen): Indian Parsi, born in Zanzibar. Mercury is also considered to be an LGBTQIA+ icon by many. He was a groundbreaking and charismatic performer (not to mention his prolific appearance and fashion). His absolute powerhouse of a voice behind Queen’s innumerable hits like Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, and We Are The Champions earned Mercury a deity-like status in both the music industry and pop culture as a whole. He continues to influence and inspire many in the decades since his death.
To all my BIPOC beauties/handsome people:
You exist in this industry. You belong. Do not let anyone in this scene erase or invalidate you.

UNDERRATED ARTISTS & BANDS PART 1
Hello, Welcome to this weeks blog post, this week I’m talking about some music that should be in you eardrums, criminally underrated artists and bands that deserve more recognition and attention. This is not your mainstream list of artists everyone knows, but they could become your new favorite. If people like this I’ll make more parts, well I probably will make more anyways and hope people like it. So I hope you guys find some new favorites and add these to your playlists!. Also for this list it’s going to be more of the pop punk/rock and a little bit of indie mixed in there more genres next time!
1. The Technicolors 🌹
Tumblr media
This band deserves your attention because number one, they’re one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen, I had never heard of them before when I saw them in 2015 for This Century’s last show and I was completely won over. I was won over by their stage presence, their energy and their songs. I immediately bought their ep Ultraviolet Disguise after the show And I’ve been hooked every since. To me they incorporate elements of more classic rock, infused with alternative and Brit Rock. They have a really original sound, especially with vocalist Brennan Smiley voice, plus he has one of the coolest last names!. One of the most underrated artists from the 8123 family, also if your a fan of This Century their guitarist Sean Silverman joined after they split. So do yourself a favor and add some Technicolor to your music library.( sorry for the bad pun had to do it)
Favorite Albums: Metaphysical and Ultraviolet Disguise(EP)
Favorite Songs: Tonight You Are Mine, Heavy Leather, Little Charmer, 26 On a Tuesday, Sweet Time, Hollywood, Space Cadet
FFO: The Maine, This Century, Vista Kicks, HUNNY, Beach Weather
2. This Century 🎹🔥
Tumblr media
Should have been a clue since I talked about them a lot with The Technicolors, but these guys truly never got the attention they deserved. They always sounded like they could fit on the radio and should have been as popular as similar bands in their genre. I became a fan after their first album Sound of Fire, then went back to their old ep’s and I was sold on their sound. They lost me a little bit when they stayed from their pop rock sound into more of the pop side of their sound, but won me back with unfortunately their last album Soul Sucker. Their one band I’m still sad that they broke up in 2015 I saw them live a few times and met them too, always put on great shows and were really nice guys. If your a fan of 2000’s pop rock don’t miss out, it would be a loss of the century!(sorry I’m a corny person).
Favorite Albums: Sound of Fire, Soul Sucker, To Love and Back(EP)
Favorite Songs: Sound Of Fire, Young and Useless, To Love and Back, Hopeful Romantic, Do It To Me, Soul Sucker, Heaven, To Cruel, Slow Dance Night
FFO: A Rocket To The Moon, Artist Vs Poet, The Maine, Every Avenue, The Summer Set
3. Beach Weather ☀️🏝
Tumblr media
Sadly one of the most short lived bands on this list, they were only active for a few years and released a few ep’s. I had no idea who Beach Weather was when I saw them open for The Maine on their American Candy album cycle tour in 2015. But they were another case of falling in love with them after I saw them. They have a very bright summery sound, and if you like A Rocket to The Moon this was Nick Santino’s new band. I wish they would have been around long enough to release a full length record but glad we got what we did.
Favorite Album: What a Drag(EP)
Favorite Songs: New Skin, Swoon, Rebel Sun, Sex, Drugs, Etc, Tremors
FFO: A Rocket To The Moon, COIN, Flor, Vacation Manor, HUNNY
4. Peach Pit 🍑
Tumblr media
Going more into the indie rock side of my music taste, a newer discover for me Peach Pit. The first song I heard was Sweet FA from their EP with the same name, I loved their chill, indie summer like vibe but they differentiate themselves from other bands with a sound that’s unique to them. I don’t know what it is but they somehow make super mellow music that’s still equally as catchy, and doesn’t lose your interest, you just vibe along with them. Their music is as sweet as as a peach!
Favorite Albums: Being So Normal, Sweet FA(EP)
Favorite Songs: Drop The Guillotine, Alrighty Aphrodite, Tommy’s Party, Peach Pit, Sweet FA, Seventeen, Shampoo Bottles
FFO: Wallows, Declan McKenna, Hippo Campus, Kid Bloom, Sure Sure
5. Anarbor 🌵
Tumblr media
Now for the last but absolutely not as all least, my favorite band of the entire list, the most underrated and under appreciated band that has always deserved better, Anarbor. Despite their name they‘re from Arizona, actually every band except for Peach Pit is (they’re from Canada!). I‘m pretty sure I became a fan sometime around 2010 around the time their first album The Words You Don’t Swallow, and after hearing their song The Brightest Green. That song came off their EP Free Your Mind and I have to say both of these releases are flawless. I’ve seen them multiple times in concert and will go see them anytime their in town and they are the nicest guys!. All these years of them being a band I’ve never understood why they weren’t bigger, their vocalist and bassist Slade Echeverria has one of my favorite voices, their songs are catchy and infectious they deserve to be huge. They have been making music since 2003, they have 3 albums, 3 EP’s and although the bands lineup has changed throughout the years they’ve been releasing singles!. If you only listen to one band from this this do yourself a favor and listen to Anarbor they deserve all the success in the world.
Favorite Albums: The Words You Don’t Swallow, Free Your Mind(EP),
Favorite Songs: (To list a few there’s a lot) The Brightest Green, Always Dirty, Never Clean, Passion For Publication, Contagious, Let The Games Begin, Gypsy Women, Carefree Highway, Useless
FFO: Go Radio, All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Forever The Sickest Kids

According to Rae, ‘this album was born out of a need to do some healing work in my personal life, in order to address some fears and patterns of mine to allow my true feelings to come to the surface.’”

For transcendent folk-pop artist Shannon Lay, the river is all of the above: It’s the metaphor driving her latest album, the exquisitely uplifting August (Sub Pop Records, out August, 23rd)—which doubles as an aural baptism renewing her purpose for making music. ‘I always picture music as this river. Everyone’s throwing things into this river, it’s a place you can go to and feed off of that energy,’ she says, ‘and feel nourished by the fact that so many people are feeling what you’re feeling. It’s this beautiful exchange.’”

Rewind: Buckingham Nicks - Buckingham Nicks (1973)
A long, long time ago, back when Fleetwood Mac was still a (mostly) all-British, blues-based band struggling to find an audience, there was an all-American duo named Buckingham Nicks also struggling to find an audience.
There was no chiffon and there was no Welsh witch called “Rhiannon.” There was no half-twisted, proto-punk rock and a “Blue Letter” had yet to be written.
(Lindsey) Buckingham (and Stevie) Nicks were life and musical partners in 1973 when they released their eponymous debut record that almost no one heard. One guy who did hear - and love - Buckingham Nicks was a fellow by the name of Mick Fleetwood who was looking to plug a hole in his band created by the departure of Bob Welch.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves.
Buckingham Nicks is a country-rock record featuring 10 songs - nine originals and the John Lewis instrumental “Django” - that finds the future mad producer and his soon-to-be ex-partner and spinning gypsy-in-waiting groping their way toward a career they probably never imagined.
It’s dedicated to A.J. Nicks - “the grandfather of country music” - and includes an impressive number of bold-face names in the credits. These include producer Keith Olsen, who went on to work with Mac and the Grateful Dead among others; drummers Jim Keltner and Ronnie Tutt (Elvis Presley, Jerry Garcia Band); bassist Jerry Scheff (Presley and father of Chicago bassist Jason); and mononym guitarist “Waddy” (Wachtel), who co-wrote “Werewolves of London” with Warren Zevon and still works with Nicks today. And of course, the multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Lindsey Buckingham and the singer Stevie Nicks.
Forty-seven years after its initial release, Buckingham Nicks still hasn’t been issued on CD or been made available for streaming. This is inexplicable, not least because Buckingham and Nicks are among the most successful and popular songwriters of the 1970s and the album has a built-in audience.
But beyond that, the album stands the test of time and would be worth seeking out even if the namesake artists hadn’t gone on to join one of rock’s all-time most successful bands, which made two BN songs, “Crystal,” and “Don’t Let Me Down Again” their own by re-recording and re-releasing them on Fleetwood Mac (1975) and Live (1980), respectively. Buckingham performed his lovely instrumental “Stephanie” on his solo-acoustic tour in 2012, and “Without You,” an oft-bootlegged outtake from the sessions, was finally released on FM’s digital-only Extended Play in 2013.
But most of the songs are known only to super-Fleetwood Mac freaks and those of us who still have turntables, which is a musical sin.
To this day, “Long Distance Winner” is among Sound Bites’ favorite Nicks compositions, and tracks such as “Without a Leg to Stand On,” “Races are Run” and “Frozen Love” reveal a vocal blend that she and Buckingham never fully recaptured in Fleetwood Mac.
Had Fleetwood not come calling, Buckingham Nicks would be even more of a curiosity than it is and would have left listeners to wonder what happened to the duo with the boy named for a girl and the girl named for a boy who happened to be lovers.
As it goes, Buckingham Nicks is a curiosity that leaves listeners to wonder what might have become of their musical and personal partnership if the whole mega-stardom thing hadn’t worked out. And more than that - it’s 36 minutes of finely composed and constructed, acoustic-based music.
Grade card: Buckingham Nicks - Buckingham Nicks - B+

The Old Masters: Kurt Kren
Tumblr media
31/75: Asyl / 31/75: Asylum (1975)
Kurt Kren (1929-1998) was best known for his work with the unpleasant bodily-fluid ridden productions of the Vienna Aktionists, a group of Hitler’s children whose post-war adolescence did in art what Ulrike Meinhof did in direct action. The suffocating atmosphere of retooled Nazi industrialists and amnesia with a born-again uptightness produced predictable results: the state must not be allowed to retain a monopoly on violence. How many Blood Order members can you watch, parading sanctimoniously on television, grinning in deathsheads from podiums, telling everyone that they have always been good citizen democrats, without wanting to burn it all down?
The body is alienated by the rigid control systems of Nazi and post-Nazi Germany (a continuum by other means); the invisible bodies of the pulverized dead shadow the plants and office blocks; Tiergartenstraße No. 4, where Aktion T-4 (Aktionist?) was hatched—the extermination of the unfit and insane—is now a bus terminal; tourists marvel at the great modernist IG Farben complex, alone in an otherwise-erased Frankfurt (IG Farben’s American legal representative: John Foster Dulles, who also worked for Krupp). No wonder Kren and his friends Otto Muehl and Herman Nitsch wanted to cut off their fingers and smear themselves with vomit, filming it all straight on, just like the Nazis shot the Warsaw Ghetto.
Tumblr media
Kurt Kren
Sitting through works like Kardinal, Self-Multilation, and Sodoma remains a chore, but for different reasons than in 1969, I hazard. The glaring bright colors now reflect Japanese game shows or late style millionaire pop art; the beatings, couplings, spurtings and evacuations have long been appropriated by gross-out horror shtick in mainstream Hollywood, likewise the flashing old film stock and jump cuts. What is left is a past-tense sense of the epic, a lofty Wagnerian pronouncement that the cinema is best equipped to investigate violence and that entertainment is really all just fascism. Shaking off the idea of gesamkunstwerk or the marble atrocities of Arno Breker proved harder than it looked, no matter how true every sickened pronouncement of Aktionist agit-prop was—and it was, it certainly is true.
If the ‘Baroque’ aspect of these films was once part of the attack, it has now become a sign of the long dreary reach of fetishism and managed hypocrisy. The problem with animal intestines, bodies wrapped in metal wire, and piles of soaking flesh is that the arrangement does not mirror the repressed psyche of a generation of sons of Gauleiters, born-again liberal bureaucrats and captains of industry, but a great cathedral of interlinked reactionary problems to be solved hermetically. From this point on, such problems were doomed to become wholly personal—as if the artists were unconsciously terrified of collective nihilism after Goebbels cornered the market. Austria is mainly Catholic, and the confessional is never far away from Aktionist agony. Redemption rears its bestial head—which also implies a second innocence, which is postmodern salvation.
To expose the unreality of what remained of the saccharine and morose Nazi regime via vitriol and bleeding flesh was clearly not enough. After the Aktionists called it quits and retired to their various castles and cultic fiefdoms, the Red Army Faction kidnapped former SS officer, then-CDU member, and Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie head Hanns Martin Schleyer in 1977. When the German government refused to trade this grotesque relic for four captured RAF fighters (who were mysteriously found hanging in their cells afterward, á la the ANC in South Africa, and also like Ulrike Meinhof, a year earlier, another ‘suicide’—all of which shows the repulsive cynicism lurking under a supposedly ‘democratic’ state), Herr Schleyer was topped and left in the trunk of an Audi. No loss, but tears and outrage flowed from a middle class that forgot that it was a far, far greater executioner in ‘39. The late 1970s were dark, dark, dark. The very outrageousness of their ‘happenings’ show that the Aktionists were suckered in by hope ten years prior. The world remakes itself, oblivious.
The case of Aktionist Kren is more curious and longer lasting than the King Ludwig-like careers of Nitsch and Muehl. His early films were stark or wiggly or frozen: trees, landscapes, little images, people in rooms doing hypnotized screen tests. Unlike his later direction in Sodoma et al, he seemed concerned with the medium’s archaic properties and the possibility of making still-life and landscape political. He returned to this program out of the Aktionist dead end.
31/75: Asyl, from 1975, a sequel to his 1960 3/60: Bäume im Herbst, is one of his best films. More Holbein than Kaspar David Friedrich, it shrinks the epic panorama down to an insect view. Using a simple form of time-lapse photography, a static shot shows farmland and a winding road in late autumn to early winter. By placing various filters over the lens, days pass in globules, wax drippings, thick polluted rain, condensation and gum. A man with a dog goes in and out of frame; the snow melts, it rains; light shifts. Not blood and soil but damp, oily mud like a Turner marsh. And no heroics with geysers of blood, iron crosses and milk, the exegesis of guilt. However, there is certainly something displacing the day here. The status quo of round-ups and tests? Isolation, inner migration? The ‘asylum’ of the title suggests a place of refuge but like in English, the German asyl can also mean a madhouse or political asylum. The film was shot in Saarland, West Germany, under French control after WW1 but returned to Germany in 1935. Saarland is border country, a place of several masters and populations on the move. Kren himself was sent off on one of the Kindertransport to Rotterdam, where he lived until the end of the war.
Wilhelm Reich, in his book The Mass Psychology of Fascism, showed that the mysticism of Nazi ideology was depicted foremost in pretzeled human bodies, a combination of Protestant asceticism and cheap porn cartooned in the figure of the swastika. Before landscape, Fascism uses bulky propaganda to conjure up the Fatherland and recites bad poetry about the holy relation between man, pig, earth and muck. Sacrifice is the Father’s cloying prayer, his own death extended by his sons’ dying—for most fathers in the Fatherland rented their land from wealthy landlords, rented rooms from good Aryans, worked for Herr NSDAP Millionaire Flick. Places of death are used over and over again; their industrial emptiness ensures that no birds sing. No birds sing, but not out of reverence for the dead so much as disgust for the living—the quiet living that made those dead, that signed contracts for transport expediency for a Jew, Gypsy or a Red.
Kren’s view from a windowsill does have some of this void mood, yet he rejects the trap of timelessness in favor of everyday decay. The immortal Frost Gods can only bury dogshit in deep snows, give you pneumonia, cake your axel with mud. The landscape lives on geologically and not mystically. It has beautiful things, extraordinary things, because its own microscopic changes are more fabulous than eternity. Kren’s little film avoids both faces of the same reactionary crisis: that of the epic-making National Socialists, and his own earlier anti-epics that attacked the drapery of the historical fasces. Fall and winter last a little over 8 minutes in the duration of this film, which took 21 days to shoot. The Third Reich was supposed to last for 525,600,000 minutes, which is a thousand years of unreal time. William Blake wrote: He who binds to himself a joy/ Does the winged life destroy.
All of Kren’s films are curious, even his old naughty routines. He moved to America in 1978 and travelled the country, stopping to show his films at universities before finally settling in Texas, where he split his time between Austin and Houston. There, he became a fixture in the punk scene, appearing with some of the best bands of the time, projecting his films behind the noisy vigorous music of Left agitators like Really Red and Culturcide. Always a workman, he made new films while employed as a security guard at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. He died back in Vienna in 1998.

Greatest Hits Masterpost
If you’re reading this I’m assuming you wanna check out some of the bands I really enjoy that arent big enough to have actual greatest hits albums or the record label just hasn’t made one yet, i choose most of these songs because I really like them and I feel like they do a good job at showing the different styles of music they can do!
Brave the Sea  - Celtic rock band, lots of pirate and drinking.
The Damned Things - Hard rock/metal supergroup consisting of Fall Out Boy, Anthrax, Every Time I Die and Alkaline Trio.
The Dreadnoughts - Sea shanties, polka, punk, they have a concept album about World War 1. Lots of drinking and pirate vibes.
Frank Turner - English folk punk artist, very varied song topics. Has a concept album about women of history.
fun. - Pop-rock alt group that saw some mainstream success with the release of Some Nights. Their most popular song (We Are Young) is probably their worst song.
Jukebox the Ghost - Indie pop rock band, they have 3 lead singers and they are pretty rad.
Lil Phag - Gay rapper who started off as a joke. Was a vlogger for a while and did a lot to help communities during Covid-19 with his #CultForGood initiative. Doing a TON to help out with Black Lives Matter and made multiple hashtags to submit videos of police brutality to that trended.
Palaye Royale - Fashion rock, heavily inspired by the mid-2000s emo scene. Have been described as My Chemical Romance meets New York Dolls with some blues.
Panic! At the Disco - They do a bit of everything, you have probably heard I Write Sins Not Tragedies and High Hopes!
Set It Off - They are just recently beginning to break out, they have been around for a while and very most of their older stuff is very pop punk.
Dollar Signs - Indie, alternative, punk, self described as "gothic anime rock", "student loan core", and "pop songs for the dead." Go into this band expecting just a fun time.  Songs reference drinking a lot.
Paddy and the Rats - Celtic punk band from Hungary, if you like The Dreadnoughts you'll like them. Lots of drinking and sea shanties.
Mischief Brew - DIY anarcho-punk music, incorporating a variety of styles including American folk, swing, and Gypsy-punk

The Underbeats "Shake It For Me" (Soma, 1966) - Howlin' Wolf "Shake for Me" cover
Armies of British Invasion and American garage bands took stabs at the Howlin' Wolf catalog - with mixed results... 1961's "Shake for Me," long one of my favorite Wolf tracks to throw down at a dance, is one of those that wasn't often covered in its time (its flip "Little Red Rooster" is a whole other story). While I found this 45 at Hamburg's amazing Pure Soul Record Store some time ago, it just recently started sinking in, and when I turn The Underbeats' "Shake It For Me," the floor shakes like jello on a plate!  The tight rhythm section here doesn't speed it up like most 60s Wolf covers. They mechanically lock in from the time they leave the gate, establish a hip swivel groove, and don't let go. The tight well-recorded rhythm section that makes this so easy to play at dance clubs may be too clean for a lot of my garage punk friends out there. But the guitarist's overdriven tone and chilly Hubert Sumlin' bends and slides add as much grit to the mix as vocalist Jim Johnson a.k.a Calvin James of Gypsy Wolfy rasp. Shake like a willow tree!
The Underbeats were a prolific Minneapolis dance band formed in 1962 and recorded a number of singles with Bangar, Soma, and other imprints before moving to Los Angeles in 1968. By 1969 they morphed into the progressive rock band Gypsy - becoming the house band at Whisky A Go Go, recording the hit single "Gypsy Queen," and releasing four albums.

Favorite Music Genres Amongst Shoppers By Age Group In The U.S. 2018
We highlight the artists and musical actions that outlined the year. This pathfinder is meant to facilitate interdisciplinary analysis in traditional Southern music styles for undergraduate or graduate students of music, folklore, American Research, history, cultural studies, Southern studies and related disciplines. Specifically, it identifies multimedia assets at UNC-Chapel Hill and on-line to help college students better perceive both the context (social, lyrical, and musical origins, influences, and impacts) and the content material (varieties, themes, and instrumentation) of traditional Southern music styles.

The mainstream rock comeback will occur Joan: Vinyl data proceed to extend in gross sales and recognition as a result of they sound hotter to the younger particular person's ears. Vinyl gross sales are at the moment beating streaming gross sales within the UK. The digital Scandinavian center-aged male-written computer pop music is okay for streaming however in case you expect vinyl warmth real instruments should played. People who learn actual instruments learn from basic rock. The corporations must discover music that matches the vinyl medium and Kesha will get her likelihood. Feminist aesthetics raises many of the similar issues that dominate debates about race and ethnicity. Moreover, feminist aesthetics regularly discusses efficiency artwork. Exploring track efficiency, Bicknell argues that gender and race are equally relevant for fashionable music reception. Renée Cox and Claire Detels have provided a philosophical foundation for further work and Gracyk has outlined several philosophically rich issues that deserve additional attention (Gracyk 2001). But as is the case with aesthetics normally, explicitly feminist analyses are normally directed at tremendous artwork and way more consideration is paid to the visual arts than to music. In contrast, musicologists have produced many essays and books that highlight feminist views on in style music.
Maybe unsurprisingly, Kenny finds that accidents - together with car crashes and drug overdoses - are an enormous reason behind premature death for musicians, accounting for nearly 20 p.c of all deaths across genres. But accidents are more likely to kill rock, steel and punk musicians. Punk and steel musicians also appear vulnerable to suicide, whereas gospel musicians had the lowest suicide rate of all genres. Homicide accounted for 6 p.c of deaths, but was the cause of loss of life for an incredible half of rap and hip hop musicians in Kenny's pattern. Described in 2013 by no-lesser an authority than the BBC as, Bulgaria's intercourse-soaked pop-folks music culture ", chalga - a Turkish phrase that originally described the urban music of the Ottoman empire of the late 19th and early twentieth century - blends doof-doof dance beats with Balkan, Gypsy and Center Japanese rhythms. Consider it as Bulgarian turbofolk, in the event you like. Its themes of simple money, aggressive males and promiscuous girls" (that is the BBC once more) have made chalga large all across the Balkans. Similarly, determine 7 shows the three elements, specifically the three new options obtained with LDA. As mentioned earlier than, the LDA method has the restriction of acquiring only C−1 nonzero eigenvalues, the place C is the number of classes. Subsequently, http://www.audio-transcoder.com only three parts are computed. If it's a supervised strategy and the primary aim is to maximise class separability, the 4 courses in figures 7 (a) and (b) are clearer than these in PCA, although still involving substantial overlaps. This end result corroborates that automatic classification of musical genres is just not a trivial activity. Whereas there are similarities between the two genres, there are also many differences. First main difference between rock and pop style bands are the best way they make their music. A lot of the Rock bands write their songs about something they care about with no censure. Rock songs discuss love, emotions, sex, medicine, life, demise, or suicide and the songs have a deep which means for the musician who wrote and for the general public, who relate the music with their own lives. A very good rock music last forever, and it has been played on radio stations for years. Eurgh, here we go, give it to me straight. Back in the early 90s, house had hit a point the place it splintered. A type of instructions was towards huge, vocal-and-piano-heavy bangers that, now, would simply be thought of outdated-skool house music (think Black Box 'Ride On Time'). The sound was thought of more commercial and naturally bought most of the keep on with handbag house becoming a casually misogynistic phrase that furthered perpetuated the stereotype of 'smooth, silly' music for 'soft, silly' people like girls. Whether Hardbag reinforces or breaks down the purse house stereotype, it positively was a factor with Felix's 'Don't You Want Me' thought of the beginning and the style's pinnacle coming within the mid-90s. Moodier chords, hardcore-type drums and a little less hovering vocal characterise these tracks. Mr. SINNETT: With jazz? You already know, it's fascinating because I was a musician, actually, after I first heard jazz, and when I first heard jazz - I wasn't taking part in jazz, I was enjoying classic soul music and rock and funk and people sort of things, however once I first heard jazz, I truthfully did not get it as a result of it was the whole antithesis of every part I was playing at that moment. In different phrases, you had - I was coping with music that you had very simple, repetitive rhythmic devises within the music. It was primarily based on a groove, a particular type groove. The harmony we had been dealing with was at a much lower stage when it comes to complexity and it was primarily vocal.

"Paradise by the Dashboard Light" packs three movements, a half-dozen time shifts and a flurry of musical styles into eight outsized minutes of pop extra. Which is why it sums up Meat Loaf's career higher than anything else he's ever recorded. However songwriter Jim Steinman, producer Todd Rundgren, singer Ellen Foley and baseball legend Phil "Scooter" Rizzuto additionally deserve credit for "Paradise by the Dashboard Gentle," throwing all of its various items into place with equal quantities of intercourse, sweat and humor.
