There are several common misconceptions city folk have when first settling into the Zones.

The first, is that masks are meant to protect the living. While living under constant surveillance, it is perhaps only natural to find solace in the impression of anonymity provided by face coverings such as masks, helmets, and bandanas, and even more cynical types who claim their purpose is to obfuscate what little presence BL/i does nurture amidst the harsh desert winds— however, these are nothing more than outsiders' views on matters that had not previously concerned them. The truth is, in fact, much simpler: masks are talismans, and bargaining chips of the dead— they prove there once was someone who cherished them and whom they in turn swore to protect. No one can return from the dead without renouncing some part of themselves, and when dealing with something as strongly entwined with one's identity as a mask, it is one last chance for forgiveness or retribution.

The second most common misconception amongst newcomers, is that all information shared voluntarily is shared without ill intent. It is undeniable that skill and information are what constitute power both sides of the wall, and that the latter is often freely shared amongst those willing to stand their ground against Better Living as a form of leverage, but unlike the City which has had its bare bones exposed, ground down, and then rebuilt inside-out in the crater of something far larger than any atomic bomb, the Zones are alive. Alive in a way which goes far beyond the roads spreading like veins and arteries beneath fallow land. Alive in a way which alludes even the conscious component of a place brimming with the unknown and unexplainable where the line between one's perception and physical reality is drawn thin. Alive in a way that is cold and uncaring, and which if exposed would be enough to drive even the most devout believers and cynical scholars mad. It is truth which makes the sharpest blade, afterall.

The third and final misconception many new zonerunners hold to be true, is that numbers are a liability. While undeniable that resources in the Zones are scarce and that it's more difficult to move as a group rather than an individual, to treat one's life as merely an extension of their escape from the clutches of Battery City is no better than to pen their name on their own death certificate. There is of course the practical aspect of desert community as well; although scattered like dandelion seeds in the wind, killjoys often come together for events such as parties, races, concerts and markets, and even on more mundane occasions there are more than a handful of crews loitering about Tommy Chow Mein's or slumbering sharehouses and bars. Information travels fast within groups and although there is such a thing as too much, patrol routes and standing commissions will always be made known on the ground before the airwaves. Solitude may be effective while running, but rest is always better shared with those you've come to trust

Weird Horsegirl Ganondorf fun fact of today is that in Ocarina of Time Ganondorf rides without a bridle! Even in the concept art his horse lacks any bit or reigns (as does Epona, and every other horse).

What it mainly means is that the N64 didn't have the power to mess with an unnecessary complex item to render -- but what it could be interpreted to mean for the sake of fandom fun is that the horses are raised and trained to be ridden bridleless.

Not to be up my own headcanons about horses being a big thing in Gerudo Valley and Malon's mom being Gerudo and there being a reason that Gan's horse is specified as a pure black Gerudo Stallion because other Gerudo horses don't look like that but -- have you seen the dressings on the other horses?

All of them, even Zelda's horse, have a call to Gerudo patterning. Except for Epona, who was only able to be approached, touched, and ridden by Link and presumably Malon herself.

It's no secret that the Gerudo are more or less pulled from African and Arabic cultures, but fun fact about Arabian horses, they used to be given as prized gifts to royalty and important political figures.

So if they are inspired by Arabian horse history --

The nomads’ keen horse sense and meticulous attention to proper care and breeding created an animal that could withstand the harsh environment of the desert, surviving extreme heat and cold with little water and the food they shared with their handlers. A life of travel also required horses with great lung capacity, endurance and stamina. (x)

It's very possible that all of the horses in OoT have ancestry in Gerudo Valley!

random blogging abt my thoughts reflecting on my art style over the years and animation school LOL

when I was still in college, i used to be such a stickler on myself for trying to make "animation appropriate" art/designs bc i felt like EVERY aspect of my art had to reflect "I'M ANIMATION STUDIO HIRE READY!!!" ALL the time. even my personal art 🙃

but once i graduated, I realized I was kind of unnecessarily holding myself back from exploring other avenues of my own art. (And learned it kind of doesn't matter what style you draw in your own time lol. As long as you do good work and you're capable of adapting to the studio anyway.) If you've been following me for long enough, you could probably tell my art has pendulum swung around from anime to more cartoony... then back to anime again LMFAO.

I always told myself I wouldn't give in to the whole when art professors nail into ur head "don't draw anime" but i think halfway in my attempt of exploring other styles, it got to me LOL 😭. So once I graduated and was released from the confines of animation school hell, I started to have fun with my art again... i just drew and embraced however appealed to me!! And it feels GOOD!!!

and it's not that I DON'T like cartoony/highly stylized art or my art from that phase of my life either. if anything, i think i learned a lot of things from experimenting other avenues of art! (u could say I now have the power of cartoons AND anime on my side LMAO) Plus, I love the challenge of style matching and adapting.

i think, what's at the very least important for me, is knowing that i am capable of compartmentalizing the art I CAN make that's appropriate for work/animation and art that I know is JUST for myself, no arbitrary restraints applied.

Writing for bots is basically just the equivalent of blue balling a reader 😂 because you want to write something really good that sucks them in, but you always stop before it gets good so they can respond to the message. I really like making little animatics… a couple characters I really haven’t touched in a while. I mentioned I was changing some stuff in regards to this story so this applies to that, except this is kinda a dramatized version of what actually happened for this scene/topic in canon for the sake of the song choice. Would have been a lot smoother and less intense.

that post that’s like “what are you most pretentious about” is important and cool but i feel like there is a similar vein of emotion in “what are you most territorial about.” both coming from a place of love naturally but it’s a different emotion of “i want to know everything about this and challenge others to do the same” vs “this was made for ME. nobody else.”

for me i am most pretentious about infinity train bc i have pages and pages of lore notes and made a genuine cork board of theories + have archives of crew art & word of god tidbits saved but like. at the end of the day that is still a shared title between me & my friends & other ppl who were active in the fan space during that particular era of the show. anyone can accumulate knowledge with enough research.

what i am most Territorial about is chococat. little black sanrio cat. my childhood. Mine. everyone else can like him and love him but nobody else will love her in the specific way that I did as a kid and do as an adult. stuffed animal that was given to me by fate as a kid and continues to be an important part of MY life. no amount of wikipedia diving can match the decades of specific love that I have for chococat. there’s a difference yknow
