Cael was confused.

He looked after you for so many years. Ever since your mother passed away, he kept his word; he raised you as his own child. He saw you grow as a talented artist, he saw you work hard throughout your childhood – he was so happy to see you finally enroll into St. Shelter's University.

And yet there you were, being close with another man who was not him. It made him irritated, frankly speaking. You saw Cael as your guardian; you shared your troubles with him, and then suddenly you forgot about him and went to talk so affectionately with another man. Ever since you mentioned that you met a new boy on orientation day, he knew something was about to go wrong – and something did go wrong.

To his surprise, he noticed you somehow ending up in Godheim – posing as a threat to his plans. Your curious nature and noble characteristics drove you forward to unravel the secret behind Godheim's disaster – the same disaster he had planned.

Cael could never let that happen. He knew you would be heartbroken – that you would feel helpless to learn that your own mentor had done such heinous things to mere peasants in another world. Thus, he came up with cunning plans to push you away every time you tried to get close to the truth.

He saw your each and every move. He witnessed your attempts, your deaths, your victories – and even the moments he shouldn’t be seeing.

Cael knew deep down that his actions were not right. Such a polite man like him shouldn't be prying into other's business, but he couldn’t help it. He watched you from afar, watched you laugh with another man, watched you embark on a journey through the blizzard with another man, protecting someone you should be wary of. He watched and wondered: what did I ever do wrong?

Why couldn’t that person be him? He looked after you, gave you shelter, gave you the affection you needed to grow. But why... Why didn’t you see him the way you see them?

Ever since you set foot in Godheim, they were busy trying to sacrifice you in one way or another; they were selfish – while Cael was thoughtful, thinking about ways to keep you away from this mess, and was that the way you repay his benevolence?

Cael was confused. He was a man who always kept his calm, he understood his emotions well and knew how to keep them under control. But this feeling... This was new for him. Is this envy? But why must he be envious? He was simply trying to protect you, nothing else.

Cael shook his head and looked away. He must think of another plan to keep you away from your new beloved one.

You wake up, eyes peeling open as the deep red light of hell's sun shines into your eyes. A soft groan tumbling from your lips, as you roll out of bed, the rough fabric of your sheets cling to your skin.

Fingers tug through your hair, gently pulling the knots from the short strands. The sound that woke you up from your slumber sounds again, bleary eyes peer over to your phone. Loona's lovely face pop's up on your phone, before going black again... What could she be needing at this time of the morning, knowing the she-wolf would normally still be asleep now.

Your cold fingers curl around the small device, flicking it open to get to Loona's message.

Your back cracks loudly as you move, a roll of your neck leaves a shudder to run down your back. Your bones creak with every step you take, your joints popping. The walk to the bathroom, felt like it took a league. The taps creeked as you turned on the hot water tap, the hot water burnt deliciously against your skin, another grumble spilling from your parted lips, your gums ached as your fangs decended down, desprate to feast.

The trip to the office is a blur it always is, how couldn't it be? You had made the trip hundreds or thousands of times. Even stopping by the usual coffee shop, collecting the coffees and getting your card stamped was a blur, a heavy sigh is all you could offer as you open the doors to your place of employment.

The sight of Loona brought a smile to your cold, bloodless lips, she wore her usual moody frown. Her ears twitched towards you, her shiny black nose twitching at your scent.

"Hey, Loony," your voice was cool and calm, you wince slightly as your sharp teeth grazed your mouth, "got you a coffee."

She grumbled a soft thanks, accepting the hot drink in your hands, her tail swaying slowly.

"Thanks, blood sucker, you're looking particularly dead this morning," her voice was teasing.

Taking a sip of the coffee was like drinking liquid ash, yet the caffine felt good, like your heart was beating once again.

"Yeah, you looked like you were mugded by a sad monochrom clown," you teased back, your laughs conjoin in a rich smooth sound.

You shift to take your seat next to her, a loud yawn spilling from your lips, showing off your sharp fangs, Loona's deep red eyes were on you in an instant.

"Are you hungry, Vamp?"

You nod, and her tail rests lightly against your cool leg.

"Blitzo, will have pleanty of humans for you to feed on up topside."

Alkaid x reader.

Summary: Naledi wanted to go out camping, and you bring Alkaid to accompany you two. (Yes, Naledi is alive in this story lol)

You got inside the tent. The dim lights which reflected a subtle hue of purple calmed you – it was comfortable inside. You looked around only to find a bundle of comfortable pillows of various shapes and sizes piled up in one corner, a few bottles of water along with a bottle of mosquito repellent in another, and a handful of snacks and packs of dried fruits remained beside them. Alkaid was always well-prepared when it came to camping. The blond man inside the tent smiled softly as he saw you lean against one of the pillows.

"Please make yourself comfortable," Alkaid said. "Do tell me if you need anything else."

"No, I'm fine, thanks," You replied, letting out a yawn afterwards.

It had been a long day for you, Alkaid and Naledi. It was Naledi who wanted to go out on a picnic near the hillscapes. And being somewhat inexperienced in this field, you asked Alkaid for help – who seemed enthusiastic, of course. And you then remember yourself going to the picnic spot at 10 o'clock, helping Alkaid set up the tents as Naledi tried her best to be of service as well. You and Naledi had fun trying to gather wood for the campfire; you watched happily as Naledi was mesmerised by the beauty of nature, zoning out every now and then each time you both reached a spot with an alluring view to share.

After a whole day of lively chats, singing songs, going on hikes and having a hearty meal, it was normal for you three to feel exhausted. Naledi retreated to her tent earlier than usual, leaving you and Alkaid underneath the vast sky. Being an astronomy major, Alkaid took his time to observe the stars, and you complied with him, listening as he went on about the constellations. His voice sounding consoling and reassuring amidst the deafening silence of nature, as if he were a mysterious voice, guiding you towards an unknown paradise – an utopia shared by you two.

You were brought out of your reveries when a mosquito bit against your skin. Instinctively, you landed a smack on your arm. The sound reverberated loudly enough to catch Alkaid's attention. Alkaid chuckled and looked at you helplessly before asking if you wanted to go inside the tent, and you agreed.

And that's how you ended up inside Alkaid's tent, willingly agreeing to spend the night under the same roof. You wondered what made you agree to that in the first place – were you too preoccupied with your thoughts to properly consider what he said? Or were you influenced by your feelings at that time? Whatever the reason was, you didn’t mind it more. All you craved at that moment was some rest. So, the second you leaned your head against the soft pillow, you immediately felt swayed away to the realm of dreams.

Meanwhile, Alkaid awkwardly sat there beside your sleeping figure. A soft, sincere smile present on his lips as he watched you sleep. The soft purple hues of the lantern's lighting graced you in an ethereal glow. Without uttering a single word, Alkaid carefully made his way out of the tent. He decided to sleep inside your tent instead, it would obviously be improper if he disturbed your well deserved rest.

Underneath the starry sky, Alkaid wished you a good night sleep.
