Holy Kittens, Y'all: My Favorite Good Omens Moment Has Gotten EVEN MORE ROMANTIC
Okay so I wrote this post about my favorite moment in Good Omens, and the stuff people are pointing out in the reblogs and comments is blowing my freaking mind, and I HAVE to show you how beautifully this all fits together, like I am flailing at my desk about this.
@vidavalor points out this gif from @soft-ange-aziraphale [Source]:
Tumblr media
Here it is in sequence (gifs 1-4 from Fuck Yeah Good Omens):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't stop laughing over Aziraphale's smile, which shows, as @quoththemaiden says, that he's "utterly delighted with himself" and knows perfectly well that he's minxing Crowley; and this tiny extension of the moment convinces me even more that Crowley is desperately fighting a smile himself here.
Actually there's a lot in @quoththemaiden's comment that's insightful and well-put:
Tumblr media
Totes agree with all of this.
And then. AND THEN!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I knew Crowley was trying to communicate something with this Shakespeare line, but I didn't know what until @paperbunny and @musingsofmaisie put it out there: Crowley is complimenting Aziraphale here, telling him he's enjoying being in Aziraphale's company, telling him his humor worked.
Remember how I keep banging on about how much equivocation Crowley does? This is more equivocation. In 1601, Richard Burbage was 34 years old, so age hasn't had the chance to wither his infinite variety yet. The stupidity of demons and the ignorance of angels regarding the human aging process prevent surveillance from noticing the poor applicability of this line to Burbage, but since the first half of the line fits Aziraphale (who does not age at all) more than Burbage (who is merely not yet old) it stands a chance of indicating to Aziraphale that Crowley is speaking about him. And the underlying true meaning of this equivocal statement would be A DIRECT RESPONSE TO MY FAVORITE MOMENT: Even though I have known you so long, you still surprise and delight me.
(Crowley's Antony & Cleopatra line also accomplishes something else important: it gets William Shakespeare to go away so they can speak privately, because Shakespeare doesn't want them to see him writing it down.)
A Dip Into Speculation
I don't think the evidence for it is binding enough to say for sure, because the evidence is really just that it fits together so nicely and lines up so well with A&C's coded romantic messages in 1793; the (pretty overt, actually, I mean damn) romance in 1827; the size and nature of the fight in 1867; the yeah, really overt romance in 1941; and in 1967; and yes okay now that I'm thinking about it the whole series, but I have this View about how the rest of the 1601 scene goes.
And in fact there is Word of Gods that could be interpreted as evidence against this little pet headcanon I have, though it doesn't necessarily have to be:
Tumblr media
Here's my assertion: Aziraphale volunteers to go to Edinburgh for Crowley. Crowley cheats the coin toss to accept Aziraphale's offer and to keep up appearances as a demon. Rather than making a deal with (or asking a favor of) an angel, he's 'cheating' him (without the angel's knowledge, but with his consent), which "moves the dials" of evil a bit and would also make Aziraphale appear less at fault if this instance of the Arrangement is ever discovered by Heaven.
This can coexist with Gaiman's statement, above, that it doesn't even occur to Aziraphale that Crowley cheats the toss. THEE ongoing leitmotif of Aziraphale's view of Crowley is that he thinks of Crowley as much more genuinely evil and much less in need of ways to create cover as evil than Crowley actually is.
(Which is interesting, given that he also clearly thinks that Crowley is not as evil as he pretends to be, that he is and wants to do good, and that he deserves to be an angel again. [There is a whoooole nother essay slowly curdling in the churn in my head about how Aziraphale is obliged to practice doublethink and how that stunts his personal development because that's what happens when people aren't free.])
Here's what I mean when I say Aziraphale volunteers.
Tumblr media
Does Aziraphale ask in this tone because he is actually feeling suspicious and curt, or because he has to sound suspicious and curt? He could be perfectly willing to do Crowley a favor and would still need to sound the way he does. It's difficult for me to believe this guy--
Tumblr media
--or this guy--
Tumblr media
--are really all that bothered by the idea that Crowley might want something from him.
Tumblr media
Crowley's response sounds like a(n unconvincing) protest of innocence. Maybe it is. But he doesn't disagree with the premise on which Aziraphale based his question, which means Aziraphale now has confirmation: Crowley called the meeting because he wants to ask Aziraphale to do him a favor.
Tumblr media
Close your eyes and listen to Sheen's delivery of this line. The way he says it is so soft it's got no judgy angelic sting to it at all. Is this really a prissy answer to Crowley's semi-rhetorical question? Or is Aziraphale using the cover of a prissy answer to ask Crowley, Is what you want related to the no-good you're up to, i.e., demon work?
Either way, Crowley answers:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is Crowley making a demonic jibe at Aziraphale in return to "You're up to no good," or is he telling Aziraphale, Yes, what I want from you is related to my work, and to your work, esp. what you've got on right now?
Aziraphale volunteers some information about his schedule and what it is he's got on right now.
Tumblr media
--he says, and the velvety way Crowley says "Ohhh," tells us--and could tell Aziraphale--that Crowley already knows this. In this coded communication I'm suggesting, Crowley's tone on "Oh" confirms to Aziraphale that the thing he wants help with does indeed have to do with Aziraphale's trip to Edinburgh.
So Aziraphale gives Crowley his travel details: Yeah, I have a couple of blessings and a minor miracle to perform. It's going to suck; I have to ride a horse.
Crowley's like, yeah, riding horses does suck. You have my sympathies. (Phrasing it as an insult to God: "Major design flaw if you ask me.") And then he says, I have to go to Edinburgh too this week. Tempt a clan leader into stealing some cattle.
And here's where I think Aziraphale volunteers to do Crowley's Edinburgh job for him:
Tumblr media
If, as I propose, Aziraphale understands already at this point that Crowley is asking him to take Crowley's Edinburgh temptation, then this response tells Crowley he's willing to do so.
And then they have a little bit of kayfabe theater and a little bit of miscommunication between themselves. Crowley suggests Aziraphale take Crowley's Edinburgh job. Aziraphale protests "You cannot actually be suggesting what I infer you're implying," even though, as Crowley immediately points, out, they've now done this dozens of times.
Now, obviously Aziraphale is pretending innocence here with "You cannot actually be suggesting," etc. But he's not pretending innocence to Crowley. He can't be: Crowley knows about the dozens of other times just like Aziraphale does. So the protest of innocence is for surveillance; it's the spirit, not the letter, of the protest itself that's genuine: I am reluctant about this.
And Crowley misses it.
He reads the surface layer of the equivocation, the Heavenly pearl-clutching; and the surface layer is where he argues. "We've done it before," he points out. "Dozens of times now. The Arrangement--"
But Aziraphale, visibly frightened and looking around, cuts him off. "Don't say that." Getting caught in an Arrangement would be much, much worse than getting caught in a one-off deal.
Why is this suddenly a problem? says Crowley. You know we've been getting away with this; you know they don't check up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's not pearl-clutching at all; Aziraphale is worried for Crowley's safety.
When Crowley says--
Tumblr media
--is his tone half wheedling and half impatient because that's how he feels, or because it must sound like that? Is it soft only out of courtesy to the other people in the Globe?
There's no difference to the outcome of this scene or the story as a whole whether this romantic interpretation of the Edinburgh bickering is correct, because we've already got a solid base of evidence that the characters have romantic feelings for each other and show each other affection and care in this scene. In my opinion this interpretation fits the tone of the rest of the Globe scene better than only the face-value interpretation. What Gaiman and Mackinnon say about Crowley cheating the coin toss and Aziraphale not being aware of it can still easily apply.
While these three statements together aren't enough evidence to convict, so to speak, if my initial argument about the interpretation of "Buck up!" and Crowley's reaction is correct--and the cool stuff other people have found and pointed out suggests it is AND explains Crowley's Antony & Cleopatra line--this reading of the Edinburgh bickering is, if not ironclad, at least valid.
And holy shit, people, that makes this scene romantic af from beginning to end. I could not have asked for a better little gift from my fellow humans. 🤯I have such a better understanding of the entire 1601 scene because people from anywhere with an Internet connection sat down and spent their time sharing their ideas, and it just makes the lit-nerd lobe of my brain so happy. I love you all, you romantics and nerds and perverts.

The Unexpected Guests?
I don't think SH’s visit to Midhope Castle had any relation with Midhope Distillery. The proposal It's outside his line and not his concern. He’s made much ado about nothing.
Tumblr media
It seems SH's interest was a public interest. During the statutory consultation period, SH made a public comment supporting the initiative, which was open to anyone in the public.
However, it's worth noting that there are ethical considerations in research, and in any other category, SH's comments could be seen as a conflict of interest and may even nullify the decision-making process that is currently awaiting a final decision. It's important to remember that the plans have not yet been approved
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Currently, there are over 50 reports from various research institutions among consultants, architects, engineers, the archaeological historical society, and other experts to complete the necessary plans for the Council. Numerous regulations have been proposed, and expectations are high. SH and AN have not any kind of string or making decisions in this project. This is the weakest field for him and his inexperienced partner AN whose sponsors are themselves.
If He visited Midhope Castle and was welcomed by the housekeeper of the bed and breakfast, Parkhead House (which is a private part of Hopetoun Estate) managed by Mr and Mrs. James Gourlay, the local family who live on the Estate, then it is most likely a display of show off to gain attention. It is quite possible that his fans will say the Laird was visiting the castle 🤦‍♀️ too fictional to be taken seriously.
In 2023, Midhope Distillery Company changed its name and now operates under a new name, but with the same persons. The company is registered in Scotland and is a private limited company by shares. However, it's important to note that SH is not involved in any category, owner, directorship or investment in this new company.
Midhope Castle’s Proposal: Application under Section 42 to vary planning conditions 1, 2, 3,6, 9 and 12 of planning permission 0543/FUL/20 is exclusively investment from Golden Decanters* and Hopetoun Estates Trust. The Estate which has traditionally grown and supplied malting barley to the Scottish whisky trade, and underground springs on the estate will provide the fresh water. If approved, the Midhope Castle Distillery will become one of a small number of single malt distilleries in the Lothians, including Glenkinchie in Tranent, and Chain Pier and Holyrood in Edinburgh.
Tumblr media
The castle lies on the same estate as Hopetoun House and its exterior has been used as a backdrop in Outlander. The new development planned for the estate will complement Hopetoun House and it will continue to be a filming location for other TV series and films. It is important to note that the plans for a distillery at Hopetoun Estate are completely unrelated to SH or Outlander.
The grounds of Midhope Castle are set to become the location of a new whisky distillery. This proposal is provided by Lord Hopetoun, (Laird Hopetown) Andrew Hope, and is intended to complement the already existing Hopetoun House and Estate, a 300-year-old Scottish estate to develop the region 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴

New guidance published for oil and gas projectsOperators now have to carry out assessments that take emissions from burning oil and gas into accountThe UK government has published guidance on how it will consider fresh applications for oil and gas projects. The move will determine whether production can go ahead in the controversial Scottish fields, Rosebank and Jackdaw - but gives no indication as to whether ministers would give their approval.Operators will now have to draw up new environmental impact assessments that take emissions released from burning oil and gas into account - not just the emissions from production.Energy Minister Michael Shanks said the guidance provided clarity on the way forward for the North Sea oil and gas industry. However climate campaigners say new developments will make "barely a dent" in the UK's reliance on imported fossil fuels. The new guidance was drawn up in response to a landmark Supreme Court ruling last year, that Surrey County Council should have considered the full climate impact of burning oil from new wells.Previously, those assessments took into account emissions generated by the process of extracting oil and gas. However, they did not count the greenhouse gases which would be released when those fossil fuels were eventually burned - known as "downstream" or "Scope 3" emissions. In January, the Court of Session in Edinburgh ruled that the decision in that case should apply retrospectively to Rosebank and Jackdaw.Shell's Jackdaw gas field in the North Sea was originally approved by the previous UK Conservative government, and the industry regulator, in summer 2022.Permission for the Rosebank oil development, 80 miles west of Shetland in the North Atlantic, was granted in autumn 2023.Lord Ericht said work on both fields could continue while the new information was gathered but no oil and gas could be extracted unless fresh approval was granted. The climate watchdog - Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment and Decommissioning - and regulator the North Sea Transition Authority had paused decisions on licenses for new drilling projects and the granting of existing licenses until the government clarified its position.Publication of the new guidance means offshore developers can submit their applications for consent to extract oil and gas in already-licensed fields.Energy Secretary Ed Miliband and the regulator will then reconsider whether or not to grant consent, taking downstream emissions into account.Miliband previously described the licence issued to Rosebank as "climate vandalism".The UK government said it would consider the significance of a project's environmental impact, "while taking into account and balancing relevant factors on a case-by-case basis such as the potential economic impact and other implications of the project".No decisions are expected until the end of the summer.Michael Shanks said: "This new guidance... marks a step forward in ensuring the full implications of oil and gas extraction are considered for potential projects and that we ensure a managed, prosperous, and orderly transition to the North Sea's clean energy future, in line with the science."We are working with industry, trade unions, local communities and environmental groups to ensure the North Sea and its workers are at the heart of Britain's clean energy future for decades to come – supporting well-paid, skilled jobs, driving growth and boosting our energy security."'Incompatible' with climate commitmentsTessa Khan, executive director of the climate campaign group Uplift, said the new guidance means that oil and gas companies will be "finally be forced to come clean over the enormous harm they are causing to the climate".She said: "In the case of the Rosebank oil field, which Equinor can now seek reapproval for, it is overwhelmingly obvious that the project is incompatible with the UK's climate commitments. "Whether or not this government then follows the science and rejects Rosebank will be a real test of its climate credibility."Ms Khan adde

Sometimes: Work experience or community service in leadership, mentoring, or HR roles
Common Mistakes That Kill Applications
Applying after the deadline
Generic personal statements (“I love people” is not enough)
Ignoring less famous scholarships (they’re often easier to win!)
Not aligning goals with the scholarship’s mission
Don’t let these mistakes rob you of a life-changing opportunity. The competition is real, but prepared applicants win.
Final Thought
You could scroll past this… and let another year slip by. Or you could be the one who says: “Yes—I’m going for it.” A Human Resources degree can open powerful career doors—but a fully funded HR degree? That’s next level. In 2025–26, HR is the degree of the future, and scholarships are the bridges that get you there. Will you cross yours?

Denis Ignatovich, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Imanda – Interview Series
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/denis-ignatovich-co-founder-and-co-ceo-of-imanda-interview-series/
Denis Ignatovich, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Imanda – Interview Series
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Denis Ignatovich, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Imandra, has over a decade of experience in trading, risk management, quantitative modeling, and complex trading system design. Before founding Imandra, he led the central risk trading desk at Deutsche Bank London, where he recognized the critical role AI can play in the financial sector. His insights during this time helped shape Imandra’s suite of financial products. Denis’ contributions to computational logic for financial trading platforms include several patents. He holds an MSc in Finance from the London School of Economics and degrees in Computer Science and Finance from UT Austin.
Imandra is an AI-powered reasoning engine that uses neurosymbolic AI to automate the verification and optimization of complex algorithms, particularly in financial trading and software systems. By combining symbolic reasoning with machine learning, it enhances safety, compliance, and efficiency, helping institutions reduce risk and improve transparency in AI-driven decision-making.
What inspired you and Dr. Grant Passmore to co-found Imandra, and how did your backgrounds influence the vision for the company?
After college I went into quantitative trading and ended up in London. Grant did his PhD in Edinburgh and then moved to Cambridge to work on applications of automated logical reasoning for analysis of safety of autopilot systems (complex algorithms which involve nonlinear computation). In my work, I also dealt with complex algorithms with lots of nonlinear computation and we realized that there’s a deep connection between those two fields. The way that finance was creating such algorithms was really problematic (as highlighted by many news stories dealing with “algo glitches”), so we set out to change that by empowering engineers in finance with automated logical tools to bring rigorous scientific techniques to the software design and development. However, what we ended up creating is industry-agnostic.
Can you explain what neurosymbolic AI is and how it differs from traditional AI approaches?
The field of AI has (very roughly!) two areas: statistical (which includes LLMs) and symbolic (aka automated reasoning). Statistical AI is incredible at identifying patterns and doing translation using information it learned from the data it was trained on. But, it is bad at logical reasoning. The symbolic AI is almost the exact opposite – it forces you to be very precise (mathematically) with what you’re trying to do, but it can use logic to reason in a way that is (1) logically consistent and (2) doesn’t require data for training. The techniques combining these two areas of AI are called “neurosymbolic”. One famous application of this approach is the AlphaFold project from DeepMind which recently won the Nobel prize.
What do you think sets Imandra apart in leading the neurosymbolic AI revolution?
There are many incredible symbolic reasoners out there (most in academia) that target specific niches (e.g. protein folding), but Imandra empowers developers to analyze algorithms with unprecedented automation which has much greater applications and greater target audiences than those tools.
How does Imandra’s automated reasoning eliminate common AI challenges, such as hallucinations, and improve trust in AI systems?
With our approach, LLMs are used to translate humans’ requests into formal logic which is then analyzed by the reasoning engine with full logical audit trail. While translation errors may occur when using the LLM, the user is provided with a logical explanation of how the inputs were translated and the logical audits may be verified by 3rd party open source software. Our ultimate goal is to bring actionable transparency, where the AI systems can explain their reasoning in a way that’s independently logically verifiable.
Imandra is used by Goldman Sachs and DARPA, among others. Can you share a real-world example of how your technology solved a complex problem?
A great public example of the real world impact of Imandra is highlighted in our UBS Future of Finance competition 1st place win (the details with Imandra code is on our website). While creating a case study for UBS that encoded a regulatory document that they submitted to the SEC, Imandra identified a fundamental and subtle flaw in the algorithm description. The flaw stemmed from subtle logical conditions that have to be met to rank orders inside an order book – something that would be impossible for humans to detect “by hand”. The bank awarded us 1st place (out of more than 620 companies globally).
How has your experience at Deutsche Bank shaped Imandra’s applications in financial systems, and what’s the most impactful use case you’ve seen so far?
At Deutsche Bank we dealt with a lot of very complex code that made automated trading decisions based on various ML inputs, risk indicators, etc. As any bank, we also had to abide by numerous regulations. What Grant and I realized was that this, on a mathematical level, was very similar to the research he was doing for autopilot safety.
Beyond finance, which industries do you see as having the greatest potential to benefit from neurosymbolic AI?
We’ve seen AlphaFold get the Nobel prize, so let’s definitely count that one… Ultimately, most applications of AI will greatly benefit by use of symbolic methods, but specifically, we’re working on the following agents that we will release soon: code analysis (translating source code into mathematical models), creating rigorous models from English-prose specifications, reasoning about SysML models (language used to describe systems in safety-critical industries) and business process automation.
Imandra’s region decomposition is a novel feature. Can you explain how it works and its significance in solving complex problems?
A question that every engineer thinks about when writing software is “what the edge cases?”. When their job is QA and they need to write unit test cases or they’re writing code and thinking about whether they’ve correctly implemented the requirements. Imandra brings scientific rigor to answer this question – it treats the code as a mathematical model and symbolically analyzes all of its edge cases (while producing a proof about the completeness of coverage). This feature is based on a mathematical technique called ‘Cylindrical Algebraic Decomposition’, which we’ve “lifted” to algorithms at large. It has saved countless hours for our customers in finance and uncovered critical errors. Now we’re bringing this feature to engineers everywhere.
How does Imandra integrate with large language models, and what new capabilities does this unlock for generative AI?
LLMs and Imandra work together to formalize human input (whether it’s source code, English prose, etc), reason about it and then return the output in a way that’s easy to understand. We use agentic frameworks (e.g. Langgraph) to orchestrate this work and deliver the experience as an agent that our customers can use directly, or integrate into their applications or agents. This symbiotic workflow addresses many of the challenges of using LLM-only AI tools and extends their application beyond previously seen training data.
What is your long-term vision for Imandra, and how do you see it transforming AI applications across industries?
We think neurosymbolic techniques will be the foundation that paves the way for us to realize the promise of AI. Symbolic techniques are the missing ingredient for most of the industrial applications of AI and we’re excited to be at the forefront of this next chapter of AI.
Thank you for the great interview, readers who wish to learn more should visit Imandra.

Cargo Bicycles: A Sustainable Solution for Freight and Logistics – Global Market Overview and Forecast
The global cargo bicycles market size is expected to reach USD 12,061.0 million by 2030, according to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc. Furthermore, the market is projected to advance at a significant CAGR of 22.3% from 2022 to 2030. Europe is expected to offer tremendous growth opportunities for the cargo bicycle market due to the localized presence of several bicycle manufacturers and rising awareness regarding environmentally efficient transportation.
The increasing encouragement for using non-polluting vehicles over short-distance commutes by governments fuels market growth. Moreover, consumers are shifting towards e-commerce and food delivery services, which increases logistic companies' need for more delivery partners. These e-cargo bicycles enable businesses to leverage a low-cost, low-risk, environment-friendly, and sustainable solution.
Electric cargo bicycles are efficient in delivering couriers when compared to vans in densely populated and urban areas. These bicycles also significantly minimize emissions and carbon footprint and are more viable than electric vans. Rising government support for low-carbon and clean air initiatives has fueled the adoption of cargo bicycles, enabling low-traffic neighborhoods (LTNs) in urban centers. During the coronavirus pandemic, the proliferation of home deliveries and online shopping activities increased significantly.
Cargo bicycles enable delivery partners to bypass traffic jams and minimize congestion on streets. In December 2021, FedEx expanded its fleet of e-cargo bicycles across the U.K. The company has included the cities of Cambridge, Edinburgh, and Glasgow in its mission of zero-emission delivery. The implementation of e-cargo bicycles in these cities is anticipated to fulfill the rising demand for deliveries in dense urban areas, reducing the environmental impacts of transportation.

I might not be the best fit for the Character Assembly Artist position at Rockstar Games due to some areas where my experience or skills may not align perfectly with the requirements of the role. While I have a strong foundation in character design, my experience with certain advanced tools and workflows, like Marvelous Designer, is limited. I’m eager to learn and improve, but I recognize that this could mean a challenge in adapting to Rockstar’s specific processes and standards.
Additionally, while I have a good understanding of fashion and street style, my understanding of era-specific culture and demographics, as they relate to costuming in games, might not be as deep as what’s expected. This could impact my ability to immediately contribute to the visual storytelling that Rockstar Games is known for.
Lastly, although I’m comfortable working within game engines, I may not have as much experience with Rockstar’s bespoke engine toolsets and specific asset workflows. This might require additional time to get up to speed and fully integrate into the team’s pipeline.
While I’m enthusiastic about the opportunity and confident in my ability to grow, I understand that these gaps could present challenges in the role, and require me to work further on my skills as a character artist.
