Reed Richards AKA Mr. Fantastic is known for his ambitious scientific experiments -- even if the outcomes are not always what he was expecting. One of those experiments is coming back to haunt him -- and he and the rest of the Fantastic Four will have to head into the Negative Zone to make things right. Marvel's First Family is in for another big adventure when FANTASTIC FOUR: NEGATIVE ZONE #1, written by Mike Carey with art by Stefano Caselli, comes to comic shops this November! The issue also features a bonus story by writer Ryan North (who is also wrapping up THE UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL in November) and artist Steve Uy, who unfold an adventure featuring that other super-powered foursome in the Baxter Building, the Fantastix!

FANTASTIC FOUR #649 JANUARY 2019 BY DAN SLOTT, STEFANO CASELLI AND NICO LEON
SYNOPSIS
The Fantastic Four send everybody back to Earth as they say goodbye to the Future Foundation (Valeria and Franklin stay with the Fantastic Four). At arrival, they find themselves in the middle of the debut of a new super-hero team, “The Fantastix”. Valeria finds out pretty soon that the whole thing was prepared in advance, putting an end to the conflict.

REVIEW
The best moment for me was the dialogue between Reed and Valeria, where he tells her that she doesn’t have to look dumb in front of a man she likes. Now, I am not sure if this is a good advice at finding boyfriends, but it is a good father and daughter advice nonetheless. Women have been “taught” that they shouldn’t look smarter than men if they want to keep them. Ideally, everyone should be as they are, and be accepted as such. So it was probably my favorite moment there.
The battle against the Fantastix was a bit shallow. Who are these characters? How did they get their powers? I am pretty sure we will find out soon, so it is ok (they live at the Baxter Building after all).
Again, the art looks very good considering that Valeria and Franklin (and the rest of the Future Foundation) look older. It is always hard to draw kids, artists make them look to adult or like toddlers. It is a good thing that this is the norm for Future Foundation artists.
I give the issue a score of 8

Inktober is coming soon, so I decided to go round up all my ink-related art supplies. I think I’ll be participating this time round so please look forward to it~  I’ll be tagging all future related posts with both #my art and #inktober2017!  Pictured here: (below the cut)
• “Fantastix” brand inks and “brushes” - My mom and I bought these more than 10 years ago for use on silk scarves and things. They’re primarily meant for fabrics, and aren’t great for drawing. (the “brushes” especially were never very good for anything really) But I might use them anyway so there they are.  • Manuscript brand and Speedball brand inks - more conventional inks for use with dip pens. • Paintbrush - to use with the inks possibly maybe, I’ll probly use more than this one, but this one was in with the fantastix inks for some reason. • 2 dip pens - a conventional one that’s p cheap but also fairly new, and the feather one. The feather is a primary from a white peahen my family owned over a decade ago, with a nib for a dip pen inserted into the business end of the feather. The nib needs to be replaced, but I’ve used this pen (with the manuscript ink bottle) a fair lot actually!  • a lot of sharpies! many colors, separated into regular fine and ultra fine boxes • Box o Gel pens, Staples brand. Also many colors, but they don’t write super ultra well • Pens: Pilot G-2, Sarasa, and a Bic VelocityGel - these are my favorite pens, especially the G-2 ones. The Sarasa are almost exactly the same as the G-2s, but they include slightly different colors.  • Uniball and cheap red Bic Pen - regular household type pens
Not Pictured: I used to own a set of Sakura Microns, that I loved, but they have disappeared! Hopefully they’ll show up!
