I never thought I’d be writing this, but after much reflection, it’s time for me to step away from the creative space—at least in a professional sense. It's bittersweet, and honestly, a little sad.
Tumblr has been the foundation of so much of what I was doing, especially from 2009 to around 2016. During those years, I poured everything into my projects, but in the end, most of them didn’t take off the way I’d hoped. The reality is, they lacked the momentum to become sustainable.
One of those projects was @untldsound . It still makes me smile when I think about how, two years ago, I filed an LLC for it, opened a bank account—and then… nothing. Life happened, plans fell through. Maybe something will come of it in the future, but who knows? Right now, I’m not sure what will happen with the content that exists there. I’ll try to publish what I can, archive the rest, and by late 2026, the page will likely be deactivated or gone entirely.
Helping people make music has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. But unfortunately, between unreliable clients, strained friendships, and financial limitations, I couldn’t keep the dream alive. Some of the artists I worked with are still going strong—like Mike Lawrence (formerly Whaleman) and Mazi Kabi. Shaun Green, aka Shizzymandias, still creates music from time to time, although it’s no longer his main focus. I’ve lost touch with our producer, Dreams/Deval Dreams, but I’m determined to get his work back onto platforms and into the world. I know he’ll find success. And to @goldpackpapi, aka Ryan Dobson, and all my UNTLD crew—I love you all. I hope one day, we can create together again.
As for this page, aside from managing acts around the Philly area, I also mixed and mastered music under the name @thedearlydepart . This page will stay up as a reminder of those times. While the name @thedearlydepart will live on, I’ll be transitioning most of my accounts to my personal name and email. The domain (www.thedearlydepart.com) is no longer active—someone else claimed it when I let it lapse—but I’ll be using its email service for a while longer. After that, it’ll disappear.
I had considered turning this handle into something more personal, and in some ways, it already was. But I think it’s time to let go of the moniker and start fresh. Over the next year, I’ll keep you updated on what happens with the content across my various platforms.
Then there’s @psocial-light, which I started in December 2009, a few months after my child was born. It was a lifestyle and photography brand that, unfortunately, never fully blossomed. Still, I stand by the work I did there—it was my first real project, my baby. After 15 years (with the last five being mostly inactive), it’s time to say goodbye. I still have the files, and I’ll never forget those times, even if @rawartistsla was a bit of a scam. It was still special, and I’m grateful to Jailon, Ryan, and @ziggy-wiggy for supporting me at my little photo stand, helping me pack up for the show.
At the end of the day, I wanted all these ventures to succeed, and I take full responsibility for them not reaching their potential. I didn’t have the business know-how to turn them into money-making ventures. I couldn’t get anyone on tour, secure major placements, or help these projects scale. I couldn’t make it as an artist, or even as one of the pieces making the machine run.
So, I’m giving up.
I don’t expect many people to see this or care, but for those who do, I’ll be posting updates about the transition process on each page. I expect this to take until late 2025 or early 2026, with the final shutdown happening around summer 2026.
If anyone is interested in acquiring rights to any of the content, feel free to reach out.

ars gratia artis/ars poetica poem
Art for the sake of art-
requires vulnerability,
but I don't know if I'm able
for a part of me
to be left out on the table.
Not carefully carved
like thanksgiving turkey,
more like last night's discared dinner
not saved or cleared, out of lethargy,
and beginning to stink.
I wouldn't dare to take a bite
or try to reheat it;
attempting to give it new life.
That'd only accentuate the stench,
resurrecting the past,
and making me wretch.
Though in doing so, it may finally pass.

Philosophy and Art: The Dance of Ideas and Expression
Art has long been a medium through which we explore complex ideas, emotions, and the human condition. From paintings and sculptures to literature and film, art reflects our deepest thoughts and struggles. But how often do we consider the philosophical questions that underlie these creative works? Philosophy and art have been intertwined for centuries, influencing each other in profound ways.
At its core, philosophy asks the big questions about existence: Who are we? Why are we here? What is the nature of truth, beauty, and morality? These questions shape our worldview and impact how we see ourselves and our place in the world. The answers—or, often, the lack of answers—create the foundation for our creativity.
In literature, for example, many authors weave philosophical themes into their stories, exploring questions of morality, identity, and free will. Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment delves into the psychological and philosophical consequences of crime, guilt, and redemption. Similarly, Plato’s Allegory of the Cave asks us to consider what is real and what is illusion, a theme echoed throughout countless works of art.
Philosophy also plays a critical role in shaping the way we view beauty. Aesthetics, the branch of philosophy concerned with beauty and taste, poses questions such as: What makes something beautiful? Is beauty subjective or objective? Is art valuable because of its beauty, or does it hold value in its ability to convey truth and meaning?
Artists throughout history have explored these questions through their work. For instance, the Renaissance era was a time when artists began to experiment with humanism, which emphasized the importance of human experience and rational thought. This period marked a shift in the portrayal of human beings in art, moving from religious to more individualistic and secular themes.
In modern times, existentialism has influenced many artists, particularly those who grapple with the absurdity of life and the search for meaning in a chaotic world. Artists like Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus used philosophy as a framework for understanding the individual’s struggle to find purpose in an indifferent universe. This theme is also evident in art forms like abstract expressionism, where artists sought to express the inner turmoil of human existence through chaotic and non-representational forms.
For the viewer, philosophy invites us to engage with art on a deeper level. It asks us to think critically about the themes, messages, and questions a work of art presents. It challenges us to reflect on our own beliefs and perspectives, pushing us to reconsider the nature of reality, our existence, and the ways we find meaning in the world.
In conclusion, philosophy and art are not separate worlds but rather two sides of the same coin. Both seek to understand the complexities of life and human nature. They challenge us to think, reflect, and, ultimately, to express ourselves in ways that transcend the ordinary. Whether through a brushstroke, a written word, or a moment captured on film, philosophy helps us interpret the world, and art allows us to feel it.
What philosophical ideas do you think shape the art we consume today? Share your thoughts below—let’s unravel the connections together.
Would you like to dive into a specific philosophical topic or a particular thinker in the next post? Let me know! 😊

Reflections on Traditional vs. Digital Art 🎨💭
Yesterday, I was watching a podcast with Vonnart 🎧, and I heard a few words that really made me think 🤔. We live in times where people are surprised to learn that a piece of art was painted or drawn by hand on canvas or paper 🖼️ because everyone has transitioned so strongly to digital art. It's rare to find someone who still takes the time for traditional creation. After hearing these words, I felt a bit unique, because no matter how many times I try to switch to digital, I always end up returning to traditional creation. I don’t want to paint in both styles because, for me, rubbing plastic on glass just isn’t the same as picking up an oil paintbrush and transferring that weight onto a surface 🎨.

Roots of Perception: Reflections on Michael Craig-Martin's 'An Oak Tree'
In the early 1970s Michael Craig-Martin created his famous sculpture An Oak Tree 1973. The work consists of a glass of water standing on a shelf. On the wall next to it a text by the artist argues that, despite what your eyes tell you, the glass of water is in fact an oak tree. In 2024 Charles Pigott acknowledged the Oak Tree and presented its roots. The work consist of giving space to the reflection of The Oak, by imagining the image of the glass of water to be seen standing under the shelf. Reflections deny the rules of gravity and that is true of our roots in humanity, even if we are oaks.

Here’s a refined version of your piece with the tweaks applied:
Art and Me: A Personal Journey
Art has always been a part of me. It’s not just a hobby or a pastime; it’s how I understand the world, express myself, and process everything around me. Photography, drawing, writing—each of these forms helps me connect with the deeper parts of myself and share those connections with others.
Photography Photography is where my heart lies right now. What started as a simple way to capture the beauty around me transformed after I stumbled upon Peter McKinnon’s YouTube channel. His passion for photography opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities. I learned about different techniques, how to see the world in a new light, and how to create something that doesn’t just capture an image—but a moment, a feeling, a story. I’ve experimented with my own style, but there’s always more to explore, always a new technique or perspective to try. Every time I go out with my camera (or phone), it’s like discovering something new about the world—and about myself.
Drawing Drawing has been with me since my teenage years, and in many ways, it will always be a part of me. It began with anime and grew from there. I used to draw all the time—sketching every day without overthinking it. It was my escape, my way of communicating when words weren’t enough. Lately, though, I’ve drawn less. There’s a pressure now that wasn’t there before, a fear that my drawings won’t live up to my expectations. I don’t draw as much as I used to, but the longing to return to it is still there. Drawing, for me, is like breathing—I can’t ignore it forever.
Writing Writing was my first love, long before photography or drawing. It was my way to express myself when words failed me in the real world. I spent years writing fanfiction, starting with my favorite characters from the anime Beyblade and the characters Tyson and Kai. Eventually, I moved on to writing stories about the Japanese duo Tegomass from the J-pop group NEWS. Writing allowed me to explore my emotions and creativity in ways I never imagined. It’s funny how many stories I wrote without even realizing it—countless. But as life shifted, so did my interests, and writing became something I did less often. Yet, every time I return to it, there’s a sense of peace, like I’m reconnecting with something that’s always been a part of me. I’m currently working on a story called Shadows Embrace, which I plan to share online—it’s a new chapter in my writing journey.
Painting Painting has always lingered in the back of my mind. I took a painting class as a kid, and I still remember mixing colors and creating something from nothing. I don’t have much of that work left, but I still carry the memory of it. Painting has always fascinated me; it’s a way to transform a blank canvas into something meaningful, something personal. Maybe one day I’ll give it the time and attention it deserves.
A Dream of Something More If I could turn any of these passions into something more—into a career, something sustainable—I would. But like many artists, I face the challenge of being introverted, of not always knowing how to put myself out there. My mind is filled with ideas, but sharing them with the world feels daunting. I’ve never been great at speaking my thoughts clearly, but writing allows me to take my time and get it right. In the end, I think that’s what art is all about—finding a way to say what we can’t in the everyday world, in a way that resonates with others. No matter where this journey takes me, I’ll keep creating, because it’s who I am.
I’ve refined the flow and condensed a few areas to keep it smooth while retaining that personal touch. It’s more cohesive now, with a consistent tone and clearer organization. Let me know if this feels good for you!

If Santa could bring one thing this Christmas, I’d ask for a pause button – just to savour the moment of chaos
Tumblr media
As I sit here, surrounded by the joyful chaos of holiday preparations, I can't help but ponder: If Santa could bring one thing this Christmas, it wouldn't be a grand gesture or a glittering present. No, my darlings, my humble request would be for a simple pause button—a magical device to freeze time and allow us to savor the beautiful chaos of the season.
What a sight; a lively living room adorned with the remnants of a toppled Christmas tree. Daddy emerges as the unsung hero, our furry friend has become an unexpected participant, leaping into the tree, causing a cascade of ornaments and tinsel.
But the real stars of this artistic narrative are the little ones—each contributing their own unique strokes to the festive tableau. One child, exhausted from the excitement, has blissfully passed out amidst the holiday hubbub. Meanwhile, another, with the adventurous spirit of the season, has embarked on a daring climb into the cozy confines of the dog house.
As I reflect on this artwork, I'm reminded that the magic of Christmas lies not in perfection but in the wonderfully chaotic tapestry of family moments. So here's to hitting pause, not to escape the chaos, but to embrace the laughter, the unexpected twists, and the warmth of shared joy.
Wishing you all a season filled with artistic chaos and timeless memories. 🎁🌲

The Flaneur; Intense Fortnight Ahead.
Yesterday, I woke up to a message stating that my friend had been attacked in the night by 3 men. A day that I had previously planned for uni work turned into a day in a and e, hunting for dogs, and putting differences aside with the Mother, to ensure that my friend was as comfortable and prepared as possible. A fractured jaw and skull, a possible bleed on the brain, and a potential six weeks off work... One more kick to the head and he would have died, any fall or knock to the head in the next six weeks could be fatal. After the days events, I took my new sketchbook to a Sunday a Folk Music Session, I absorbed the atmosphere, the ale and the positive energy in the pub, and projected it onto the first few pages of the new book. I woke up late today, intended to get up early and spend a few hours blogging before my 10 hour shift. Instead I snoozed my alarm in my sleep, and got up late. Not sure how to feel today, overwhelmed by yesterday's events, and a headache just thinking about how much work I still have to do before I hand it in to be assessed next Thursday.
