So I watched the neverending story for the first time and I'm gonna be honest even if it's not a common opinion - Bastian reminds me more of Mike than Will for numerous of reasons.

(btw this is only based on the film. I know the book is veryyy different. So, just keep that in mind when reading this post lol)

- Mike is a storyteller and writer. He is the Party's DM. He is reads fantasy novels just like Bastian. The campaign he wrote essentially comes to life.

- Mike favors fantasy most. He escapes reality by retreating to those novels and worlds like Bastian, believing fantasy is the only place he can truly be what who he wishes he was.

- Mike deals with grief as well and struggles to move on in the show.

- Bastian is a kid that is lonely and struggles with poor self-esteem. While Mike does have his friends, the theme of loneliness and generally being alone follows him a lot. Smalltown Boy, his monologue to Will in s2, his fear of abandonment, the comics, etc. Mike's struggle with his self esteem is a big part of his character too (mentioned in the image above)

- Mike and Bastian both begin to misbehave in school as a result of their depression and grief and let down their parent(s). Both their parents want them to move on already.

- They're both rebellious and cheeky. They break the rules.

- Mike also struggles with severe bullying.

- They both wear a little blue zip up hoodie. (this one is more insignificant but i thought it was a cute detail lol)

- Mike is more of an ""observer"" in the show just like Bastian is the reader of the actual story. However, both are still incredibly crucial to the entire narrative regardless of that.

- I read a little into what happens in the book vs film, and I learnt the book focuses more on the dynamic between Bastian and Artreyu far more. Artreyu is who Bastian wishes he was. That's quite literally Mike and El's dynamic. I explain here more in depth about that. In short, El is a shield for Mike to protect him from his insecurities and the things he isn't strong enough to face alone.

I mean. I do think Bastian and Will are similar in the sense they are more soft spoken and the brown bowl cut. They're both introverted and to themselves and experience bullying. He also resorts to fiction to cope. I see where people are coming from. But, I still think Mike seems to resembles him far more when it comes to the specifics. I wouldn't be surprised if both Mike and Will were inspired by Bastian though, I do think they were

I don't know why he didn't talk to me. All of it could have been cleared up with a conversation. I guess he wanted a reason to leave, so he found one. I hope whoever she is, that she loves him as hard as I did.

I had a very long talk with Adam tonight. (Who, coincidentally, lives right near Artreyu... They're practically neighbors. Hell, they've probably met. Military and everything.) I told him everything.

I cried. Hard. The ugly crying of a broken heart, puffy eyes, and rolling snot. The crying of balled up kleenex in piles on the desk, of food untouched, of craving a laugh you'll never hear again. I cried in heaving sobs, the sound of grief. I cried until my stomach hurt, like it used to when he made me laugh. I cried until I was dizzy. I hyperventilated. I threw up twice, what little water I'd had to swallow more pills than I should.

It isn't even just him. It is years of being used and thrown aside. I thought he was different. Josh cautioned me that military men break hearts. They lie, cheat, and leave, he said. I didn't want to listen to him. I never thought my Artreyu would do that. I was wrong. I am a bad judge of character.

Adam reinforced what Josh said. Heartbreakers. It isn't my fault, he said. It's how they work. Finding a good man in the military is like finding a clean needle in a pool filled with dirty needles, he said. Even if that needle starts clean, slowly... Everything around it changes it to match its surroundings, he said. Everything moves fast - including relationships and breakups, he said. It was never going to work, he said finally.

Just like last time, he left quickly. Abandoned me. No conversation, no resolution, no compromises, no talking. His interpretation of what happened is all that mattered, even though it was fucking wrong, and he used it as an excuse to bail. Why do I love men like this? Why do I let them into the most vulnerable parts of myself?

I loved him. I love him still. I haven't blocked him anywhere, and I never will, despite how much pain he's put me through. I want to hate him for what he did, but I can't. All I can do is mourn what I thought I had after realizing it was never real at all.

It's been a while. Evan and his boyfriend "rescued" me, in a sense. I had nowhere to go and was spiraling pretty badly, so they took me in. They're really good guys. They, at my request, locked me out of my Battlenet account and my Tumblr account for my own sanity.

I met someone at the gym. His name is Joel. He's 10 years older than me, but he's a nerd just like me (he plans on cosplaying as Kratos later this year, and I'll be helping make his armor. He has the body for it, anyway.) When we met for coffee one morning, we both showed up early, and we both brought books. It's a really good sign. He's been lovely. I'm hoping that going back to the gym will help me conquer my body dysmorphia. (It's good to know that I still feel at home at the gym. I've been going every day just to kick my ass and feel some pain.)

I wish Artreyu had given me a chance to be there so he could see I was real. I don't take full body photos because of my body dysmorphia. I don't see what other people see. It's been an issue for years, and this time, it cost me a lot. No one else has cared, but I guess it was a deal breaker for Artreyu. (Despite saying he felt horribly about being sexual with me, one of his main issues with me was that I wasn't comfortable sending full body photos. He'd seen tons of my body. He had seen me on video, but I guess those things didn't matter.)

Evan and Chris were very kind hosts the entire time I stayed with them. I am very grateful they tucked me away from everything in their apartment. The disconnect helped. I also count both of them as close friends now. They're so cute together. I've never seen two people happier to be together, and they make a very handsome pair.

I am beginning to feel like myself again, thanks to the help of a lot of very good people. Adam and I have gotten even closer as friends. Things with Joel are surprising every day. He makes me laugh so much and pushes me when we're at the gym together. I feel myself breathing freely again.

Lots of likes and messages on dating apps and sweet texts from him. Finally seeing a smile on my face again. (The cat is from Adam, to serve as a stand-in for his in-game miqo'te.)

I may be going to visit a friend in Charlotte. Things are changing and moving forward, and it feels good not to be stuck on him anymore.

About 18 months after accepting I probably wouldn't be able to get PCSX2 working on my computer I decided it was time to have another look into it. Initially there was this annoying little thing that would happen in the majority of games I played - The game would start fine and run fine but every now and then it would slow down to a third of the speed, and this would happen no matter how I changed the settings. After a lot of searching and digging around, although I didn't find the answer outright I came to the conclusion it was something to do with my cpu which led me to think about overclocking it which in turn seems to have led to the actual answer - Disabling Cool 'n' Quiet & Turbo Boosts in BIOS. Which I will go into later. I don't know who this faux tutorial wrapped in a video description wrapped in an enigma is for but I'm assuming it's someone who's had at least some experience setting up an emulator before.

Direct3D11 (Software): (Note: It might be worth mentioning Software Mode because personally I have the Burnout games on Software Mode by default, then I switch to Hardware Mode (F9) as soon as a Race, Roadrage or whatever event begins. It fixes the sky texture bug present in all the games. I don't know about Revenge or Dominator, but in Takedown you only have to switch when you are loading a new/different event. Meaning if you retry the event you've just finished you don't need to switch to SW then back to HW.) ----------Mipmapping: ---------------------Check- ---Rendering Threads: 7 More about switching between Hardware & Software Mode: (Note: I have [F9] bound to the guide/help button of my 360 controller using button_on_guide2, which can be found here

You also have to disable the help pop-up so it doesn't appear every time you press the button, but it's easy enough to do. Just find msconfig in the start menu, open it, go to the startup tab and untick Microsoft Xbox 360 Accessories (XboxStat.exe,) then restart. Or you could always just use Xpadder or Joy2Key to bind [F9] or whatever to another unused button (like R3.))

Audio (SPU2) >> Plugin Settings: ----Interpolation: 1 - Linear -----------Module: XAudio 2.7 (XAudio seems noticably better quality than DirectSound, Especially when it comes to the sound of the car engines in BO3) Sychronizing Mode: Async Mix (It comes with a warning that it "Breaks some games" but the majority of games I've used it for are fine. Plus using Async makes any potential slowdown barely noticable.)

Things that (may have) helped with performance:

Disabling Cool 'n' Quiet & Turbo Boosts in BIOS: (As mentioned here) [DISCAIMER 2:] *I wouldn't recommend messing around in your BIOS Unless you know what you're doing. I do believe disabling the aforementioned features had a positive effect on PCSX2's performance so I'm going to tell you what I did and how I did it, but I would encourage anyone who's not sure what they're doing to do some research on the subject or at the very least don't change anything if you don't know what it does. When all's said and done you can do whatever you want with your own computer but if you fuck shit up - Thats on you.* The initial plan was to turn these features off in preparation for overclocking. Once I'd turned them off I decided it was about time to actually play a game since I'd been messing around with stuff and reading threads all day. Imagine my shock (not even being sarcastic) when I played Burnout 3 and didn't get one of those annoying little slowdowns that I'd been getting. I was like "This must be what it feels like to get exactly what you want for Christmas." Anyway... First I opened my BIOS by holding down [delete] at startup (It's sometimes a different key like [F8] or something. I think it depends on the manufacturer of your motherboard.) When the BIOS screen came up I selected Cell Menu (I had to use the arrow keys and enter because my mouse doesn't work in BIOS.) I found the two features and one by one pressed enter on each of them and a dropdown appeared allowing me to choose to disable them. I then pressed escape to return to the main menu and selected "Save Settings & Exit."

Unparking Cores: [DISCAIMER 3:] *I wouldn't recommend messing around with core parking. I'm not even convinced unparking my cores had any effect on PCSX2's performance. I'm still going to say a few words about it but I would encourage anyone who's not sure what they're doing to do some reading up on things before they even think of fucking around with shit. You can do whatever you want with your own computer but if you fuck shit up - Again, thats on you.* To see if your cores are parked go to: Task Manager >> Performance >> Resource Monitor. If you don't see the graphical represensation of your core activity on the right of the window click the little circled arrow on the top right corner. If any of your cores are parked it will say so next to the CPU#. There are utilities you can use to unpark cores but it's not recommended The two utilities I know of are called unparkcpu and CoreParkingManager. I wouldn't necessarily recommend taking that route either, but if you want to they're easily Googled I much prefer the regedit method which I found here. If you decide to use the regedit method, Firstly (I probably don't need to say this, but) back shit up before you go changing it; Secondly, If you're having trouble finding the key mentioned in the thread, poster #14 writes out the location. I'll also write some basic instructions: Go to Start menu, Type regedit, click on it when it appears. When it opens go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SYSTEM >> CurrentControlSet >> Control >> Power >> PowerSettings >> 54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00... then click on the folder icon of 0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583 and you should see ValueMin and ValueMax in the main window. If you doubleclick on the ValueMax text a little dialogue box should pop up and you can change the value. Changing the value from 64 to 0 will mean the potential percentage of cores that can be parked will be 0%. If the value is already at 0... well done you just wasted a load of time. I'm probably oversimplifying this so I would suggest reading the thread so you can understand things for yourself.

*DON'T FORGET TO BACKUP EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY CHANGES AND RESTART AFTER MAKING CHANGES OR YOU MAY NOT SEE THE CHANGES TAKE EFFECT, AND SERIOUSLY IF YOU'RE REALLY NOT SURE WHAT YOU'RE DOING... DON'T DO IT.*

A Whole New World

Artreyu was the centaur in charge of looking after the four young dragons. Their wellbeing, their upbringing, and their safety fell to him and his sister, Teylah. It was a duty they did not take lightly. There was hardly a time when the children were not under a watchful eye. Yet, this day was different than the rest. A particularly beautiful day and the centaurs had thrown a lavish party for the woodland creatures who surrounded their magical kingdom. Satyrs, nimphs, sprites, fae, and many others had traveled from far around to celebrate the Winter Solstace, and consequently Skadi’s birthday. Yet, when it came time to crown her with a diadem of icy crystals, she, along with her three siblings, were nowhere to be found, causing an uproar.

Ix, the eldest at seven years of age, had led his sisters on a quest. It was supposed to only be play. Yet, as children often do, they wandered too far from the boundaries which had been set for them. Scylla, the youngest, at three, he carried on his back, while Saryx, the second eldest at six, and Skadi, now only turning five, held hands as they explored the outskirts of the woods. It was the forbidden place. They, nor anyone else from their kingdom, were allowed to venture this far. It was simply too dangerous, for it was the border lands with the humans.

“Ixa! I hear something, there!” Saryx stopped her brother and pointed due East. Her tightly coiled firey red locks fell into her face ans she brushed them out of the way impatiently. “It sounds of a metal horse??! Do such things exist?” Her eyes, the color of sunflowers on a sunny summer day, were wide with curiosity.

“Don’t be silly, Sary! There’s no such thing as a metal horse!!” Skadi looked up at her older sister as if she had grown a third head.

“Well, there’s only one way to find out, isn’t there?!” Ix wiggled his eyebrows at the two girls before running toward the sound. Tge only choice Saryx and Skadi had were to chase after him. All the while calling to him that it wasn’t fair that he had much longer legs than they.

However, as the trees thinned and the siblings emerged into the human realm, they found themselves in a world totally alien to their own. They jumped out of the way as a large bus zoomed passed them and all around people walked right on by without a second thought. Theu dodged several people before Skadi was knocked over and fell to tge cold concrete with a cry, skinning her hands and knees.

“I don’t like this place, Ix! I want to go home!” Skadi wailed. Ix picked her up, but now he was confused and disoriented, totally unsure of the way home. He picked his sister from the ground and pulled her close. All the while looking around, completely lost.

@ all warped tour friendos

warped season is upon us my friends and as always, for some of us it’s going to be our first warped. some of us are warped veterans but i feel like sharing some tips for everyone this coming festival season

WATER IS YOUR BEST FRIEND

bring sunscreen. whether your preference is lotion or spray (my personal one is spray because it won’t get all over my clothes) 

SHARE SUNSCREEN WITH PEOPLE YOU MEET. i always bring at least two bottles of sunscreen because i can’t help but share with others that might need it

the most important areas that need sunscreen: chest, shoulders, nose, face, TIPS OF THE EARS (i got bad blisters one year and oh my god it sucked), back of the neck, back in general.

sunglasses are cool as shit and keep you from getting blinded!

bandannas also help keep the sun off your face! i bought a crown the empire one and kept it tied around my face, kept my nose from direct sunlight

ColdSnap towels are VERY useful. just soak it in water, ring it out and snap it (kind of like a belt) and it cools down quickly. keep it around your neck

they’re less than $15 at walmart fam, get a couple

have enough cash for food. warped food gets expensive

WATER IS YOUR BEST FRIEND

bring light snacks like granola bars. try to avoid chips because they don’t give you some energy. a box of granola bars can get you through the day and they get through the gates

portable chargers! bring at least two and keep them on you just in case!

only use your phone when necessary. if you meet a band member, that’s fine to use it. keep it on airplane mode and try to use it as little as possible.

sharpies!! bring at least two or three just in case you lose one. use it to write set times and meet & greet times. if you don’t want to use paper, write on your arm or somewhere where it won’t sweat off easily.

when it comes to bags, i personally have used drawstring bags because they’re small and get the job done. they don’t weigh much and you can hold everything in it.

have enough cash to get merch!

if a band you want to meet has a ticket requirement for a meetup, have enough money for the ticket. when i went in 2014, the ‘ticket’ for a falling in reverse meet and greet was a $30 jersey. in 2014, the motionless in white ticket was pre-ordering Reincarnate. PRIORITIZE WHO YOU WANT TO MEET THE MOST

if you want to get in fast, wake up early and leave early. i went to warped 2016 with a friend and we woke up at 4am and left by 5am. got to the venue by 7am and were some of the first people in line.

PLEASE GET ENOUGH SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE. i made the mistake of pulling an all-nighter the night before warped 2016 and i fell asleep while waiting for issues to come on. not sleeping also fucked me up really bad and i almost passed out (didn’t even get to fully see motionless in white or crown the empire but that’s not important). falling asleep at a festival can be dangerous because of heat exhaustion and dehydration. i got lucky and was fine and i don’t plan on pulling all-nighters before festivals again.

WATER IS YOUR BEST FRIEND

make friends while you’re in line outside the venue! everyone i’ve met at warped is really chill and we met up periodically throughout the day. i lost my friend while she was at Artreyu in 2016 and i found some of our friends and they helped find her.

KEEP AN EYE ON ANYONE YOU BRING WITH YOU

hell, keep an eye on everyone in general. 

for those with facial piercings: if you plan on getting in a pit, don’t wear your piercings. ESPECIALLY if you have your septum done, getting punched in the face with a septum is not fun (so i’ve heard)

all friendos that have stretched ears, wear solid plugs (no donut ones idk what they’re called sorry) or don’t wear plugs at all. you do not want something getting stuck in the hole.

clothing tips: t-shirts, tank tops, shorts (whatever kind of shorts are fine), comfortable shoes (gym shoes, tennis shoes, sneakers, etc). don’t wear jeans, heels (i’ve seen it), big, clunky boots (doc martens are acceptable), shoes with spikes (not allowed in at all), or anything that can hurt someone or slow you down

keep makeup at a minimal

seeing bands you haven’t heard of before, or haven’t really listened to is always a good idea! you might like what you hear

local bands typically hang out outside the venue, talking to people in the line and showing them their music, don’t be rude to them. they’re trying to perform on warped tour one day and be big like your favorite bands.

i’ve given a bunch of local bands a chance and a lot of them i’ve heard have really good music. 

the TEI people offer workshops with band members like Chris Motionless, Jenna McDougall, Ash Costello, etc and offer workshops from warped tour crew. i personally did the Roadie 101 workshop in 2016 and got a lot of insight on how to be part of the crew side of touring.

not really a tip but keep your eyes open for band members wandering around the venue! i’ve run into Ash Costello, Aaron Graves (from Vampires Everywhere!), and Craig Owens while walking around. be mindful that they might have places to be so if they say they have to jet, let them go.

be yourself. let go. be free. sing that song as loud as you want. you’re at warped tour. it’s completely okay for you to let yourself be free. no one will judge you, and if they do, they’re missing out on the full experience of warped tour. if you wanna dance and sing as loud as you want, go for it my dude. 

watch out for each other in the pit (if you decide to join one). if someone falls, get them back ASAP. if someone hits you on accident, it’s an accident and it’ll happen. (if they hit you on purpose, they’re a dick and let them know that but don’t be a dick and hit them back). crowdsurfers can fall REALLY easily so keep your eyes out for anyone surfing and be ready to hold them up.

pits can open up ANYWHERE. be mindful of that so you don’t get pushed in.

I deleted my journal to purge the memories. Now all that is left is the pain.

He did not even let me explain anything. It was not anything he did. It was in my head and I knew that and I told him that. I wanted to go to Mal's because I got into a fight with Rev (about him), and I didn't want to be alone. I didn't vent to Mal about him. I vented to Mal about how hard it is to deal with my own insecurities.

I canceled the surprise I had for him. It broke my heart to do it. Everything was set. He had told me that as a child, he wanted to be a knight. I always saw him as my knight, and I wanted him to see it too, so I contacted my friends at Bristol. We were scheduled to come in during the week (during off hours) to do a photoshoot. He would wear real steel armor, ride one of the jousting horses, wield the swords they use for the swordfighting matches, and I would be there the whole time, taking pictures of him. I would take the pictures, touch them up, print them out, and frame them for him so he could always see himself the way I saw him.

I called my uncle, sobbing, to tell him to cancel the hotel because I wouldn't be going to see my "new boyfriend" after all. He offered to fly me out to New York for a while. I might go, I haven't decided yet.

It broke me to delete the mementos out of my bags. The fortune from Darkmoon Fair, the letter, the flowers. It broke me to return the pet names to default. Mom heard. She offered to either bring Celia to my apartment or let me stay with her. Neither of those sound good. I can't take care of Celia right now, not like she deserves. It guess it might be good, it would force me to get out of bed to walk her. Just thinking about seeing her face makes me think of the meme I made in 2022.

I'm not suicidal, but I am broken. I'm alone. I'm going out to karaoke tomorrow night, and I'm going to get drunk. I don't care what happens. Good, bad, whatever. I don't care where I wind up or how I get home. I just want to feel something other than this.
