Mycroft leaned back on the sofa next to Greg, listening to his incessant chatter about his day's work. He'd just finished an investigation, so his lover was enthusiastic and talking even more than usual. Mycroft understood, really, but for all his understanding, he was growing impatient and would have liked a little more attention. 

He tried to move a little closer to Greg, to make him understand, but Greg was so caught up in his story that he didn't even react.

Mycroft had reached the limit of what was bearable, so he straightened abruptly, took Greg's face between his hands and planted a firm kiss on his lips, silencing him.

Not to be outdone, Greg returned the kiss, his tongue working its way to the seam of Mycroft's lips. Mycroft's lips parted, his tongue hungrily mingling with Greg's in a familiar dance, happy to finally be the center of Greg's attention.

It wasn't long before he found himself astride his lover's hips, lost in a kiss that made him forget everything. Even the annoyance of having been ignored only moments before.

When they finally parted to catch their breath, forehead to forehead, Greg managed to articulate between gasps, "You surprised me, I didn't think you'd last this long, to be honest I thought you'd give in after I told you about the second cross-examination."

Mycroft gasped against his mouth, "You, you little..."

Greg chuckled, "I can't believe I fooled you. I, a mere detective, fooled Mycroft Holmes, Mr. British Government..."

"Greg." Mycroft interrupted.

Greg raised a questioning eyebrow, "Hm?"

"Don't talk anymore." Mycroft replied before capturing Greg's lips again and silencing him in the most effective way possible.

I picked the list of my favorite characters according to one simple idea: Everytime they are on screen I rejoice. There are so many more characters I enjoy, but the following are probably my favorite. Yet, it was really hard, so a bit further down below I have to add some "honorable mentions".

Also, I'll spare you the explanations, because then this post would be too lengthy, if I am going to gush about those characters and why I love them. And it is in no ranking order as I would not know how to rank them. I would fail big time at that, because each has a special place in my heart.

They are complex, they have so much depth which is often overlooked and they are bad-ass in their own way. All of them are idealists and fighters in their sometimes own way. I like that kind of characters, the stories around them and the moral dilemmas they have to face oftentimes.
