Powershift Transmissions and Maintenance Factor – Few Basics You Should Understand
In general, car companies offer regular maintenance service for powershift types of transmissions. On regular basis the fluid used in transmissions has to be checked and replaced. This is important, so your car runs without any issues.
The interval during which Powershift and automatic transmission fluids should be changed may vary from one vehicle to another.
In general, manufacturers suggest undergoing regular maintenance after fixed intervals of mileage covered by the vehicle.
If you are often using your vehicle, then transmission filters also have to be cleaned or replaced after regular intervals of time
You also need to consider undergoing regular maintenance if you feel the transmission is overheating the engine very fast.
Regular heat monitoring
As per guidelines Powershift and automatic transmission work ideal if the temperature of the engine is between 80 to 90 deg F. If you notice the temperature exceeds this range then it is the right time for you to look around for maintenance services.
If the engine gets overheated, then it can easily damage the engine and transmission components. These are components that are usually expensive to replace
Proper cleaning measures
Proper maintenance often requires using pressure cleaning devices. This technique is important, so all accumulated dirt and debris can be removed from the filter and inner Powershift and automatic transmission components.
Hire professional services to replace transmission fluids
Even if you have to change the transmission fluids, still you should seek assistance from professional garage services, both automatic and manual type transmissions need to be handled in a different pattern. Ensure you hire professional who is aware of the type of transmission your vehicle is making use of.
When checking with transmission fluid levels, it is advisable to park the vehicle and switch off the engine. Most transmissions are provided with dip stick that can be used to record the exact level of fluid in the transmission.

Apologies for the crunchy audio on this week's Live Tapes Tuesday post, but that's what happens when you get further back in the archives - far enough back to find the first time Store was ever played, at a point when it was called Aisles instead! I actually had to edit this together with the end of the previous track in order to include the preceding banter, because the banter felt important and I wanted to include it. Interestingly, despite this show being prior to the release of All Hail West Texas, this was the second (documented) instance of The Best Ever Death Metal Band In Denton being played live and a lot of the crowd already knew it well enough to request it and sing along. I know that bootlegs have been a vital aspect of the community since the very beginning, but it's so neat to actually see that in action! If you don't mind the audio quality, this show is a great one to listen to.
The Mountain Goats collection on the Live Music Archive has 450+ live recordings and spans from 1992 to present day! Live Tapes Tuesday is a regular series of posts aiming to bring attention to the diligent taping efforts of the tMG community by spotlighting a different tape every week. // What's the Live Music Archive?

I love how these older auto transmission shifters work compared to later models.
95 Honda Del Sol (left), 98 Subaru LGT (right). (Genuine Momo shift knobs on both.)
Tumblr media
(From the Del Sol owner's manual) You can easily shift these like a manual because the shifter moves in a straight line, not a dumb zigzag. Makes it more fun too. Essentially works like a sequential 4 speed transmission.
Don't hate on automatics you jerks, our pedals can be to the floor while shifting. No chance of missing a gear, lol. 🍻

Structural and Functional Aspects of Selecting Power Shift Transmissions
If you are using modern time vehicles, then you are already aware of the Power-Shift Transmission. These are very much similar to the manual type of transmission, but with a minor shift. One major benefit is that they offer safe powershift.
This ensures that it gets better power from the engine drive. During a power shift, the driver have to use the accelerator pedal for generating more power.
When using Powershift and automatic transmission the driver will also have to engage the clutch pedal so more power can be generated for the vehicle
It eliminates the chance of damaging the engine and the vehicle.
This type of power shift is more reliable, especially when driving on uneven terrains.
Distinct gear ratio
One major advantage of using Powershift and automatic transmission is that a very distinct gear ratio can be expected. The transmission is used for directly connecting the drive shaft with the vehicle engine. This simple task will offer the driver to make use of the gear ratio factor when powering.
Consistent power
The moment you are making use of power shifts, it is certain that your vehicle gets a consistent supply of power. This ensures that you can expect high power output even at varying driving speeds. This, in turn, allows the wheels to relax, even on uneven terrains
The benefit of twin camshafts
The traditional type of transmissions made use of a single camshaft. But the moment you are using Powershift and automatic transmission you can ensure that the vehicle is provided with twin camshafts. This is one of the features that prove beneficial for offering the vehicle with much better control.
Offers better uplift
As the vehicles are provided with twin camshafts, so it means that while driving, the vehicles are offered with a high uplift factor. So the moment you are driving on uneven terrains, it is certain that you may not have to worry about shifting gears very often.
In modern time vehicles, powershift type of transmission is always considered as more beneficial.

New genuine Momo Automatico shift knob arrived! Real black leather and aluminum, made in Italy not a knockoff. Tiny bit heavier but feels really nice and looks more like the factory option Momo shifters. VIP steez.
Tumblr media
The previous version is also genuine Momo, made in Italy, but now looks like those cheap fakes. Plus, the anodized aluminum gets hot and is starting to change colors with sun/age. The fact that the top half spins 360° and sometimes sqeaks/chirps is really annoying for me.
One more part I have to make fit! The diameter of my shift lever was ~1mm too thick, so I need to Dremel the inside of the knob and expand it.
