i genuinely love this quote so much. in general joe's latest episode has made me so happy, seeing just a silly cis minecraft youtuber using his platform to promote trans rights activism gives me hope. it gives me hope that myb even if people try to dehumanize me or my community, we still have allies all over.

the third life flashbacks in martyns limited life are INSANNEEE i just got reminded of it. not martyn talking to bdubs, saying "i have experience with turning people red" AND THEN IMMEDIATELY PLAYING TJE CLIPBFROM THIRD LIFE WHERE HE KILLS REN???????? My partner wanted his lamb to wear the fleece of the diseased heart (cuz his favorite color is purple). I did my own spin on it and will update the fleece as I progress the story. Cuz I do plan on making a mini comic series for them to expand on the lore of the au. Well it'll be more so made up of drawings + a writing blurb with lore, and the occasional few panel comic page.

Tbh, I might stream us playing cotl so we can learn more of the lore together and write our own AU while we're at it. 🤔

*Did* Tabitha kill Wayne?

Survey says... maybe?

I'm basing this off of a single line of dialogue from chapter 3. Spoilers for the entirety of Scarlet Hollow below. Content warnings are also below the cut, because I don't want to spoil things through those alone.

Who exactly is Tabitha apologizing to here?

CW for grotesque discussion of head injury; parental death; car crashes; gun injuries/death by gun; mind control

It is widely hypothesized in the SH community that Wayne was killed either by Pearlanne or Tabitha. There's little I've seen on it, but one hypothesis was that he was either shot in the head or otherwise sustained a head injury that killed him. This game has a small running theme of traumatic head injuries. Between Charlie having his head caved in by Edwardine, Stella's parents getting their heads guillotined in the accident, and Duke getting his head shot by his own gun if you choose not to (or can't) save him.

I would totally believe that Wayne was killed in a similar fashion to Charlie. It's a Scarlet family tradition: bashin' unwelcome lovers over the head. Why Wayne may have been unwelcome is a bit nebulous still. Because he was a miner, and therefore, 'below' Tabitha? Who knows, really, but I'd love to hear what people think on that.

There's also the whole thing with The Witch/Sybil and the tea. It's been known to have amnesic/mind controlling effects upon whoever drinks it. We see this most obviously with Kaneeka, and her so-called 'cold' on night 3/day 4. Mystical, Street Smart, and Keen Eye traits emphasize this (I haven't paid enough attention with Book Smart to see if you also notice it with that, but you DO note that she keeps poisonous plants and this helps lead you to pinning down what's been poisoning Reese).

So why am I bringing up this one line of dialogue? It doesn't seem... like Tabitha to apologize for something that A) she didn't do and B) to someone she doesn't give a single fuck about. It also doesn't track that she's apologizing to you, either. What could she be possibly apologizing to you for? For getting sick in here? That's a possibility, but she recovers very quickly and does not bring it up.

I think she's apologizing to Wayne.

She probably doesn't even realize it. Tabitha was faced with a memory so strikingly like one of her own that she might have felt like she was reliving it - the memory of her being made to kill Samuel Wayne by Pearlanne (for reasons and methods currently unknown). She doesn't remember killing him, outright denies it, but refuses to address the issue of Wayne at all. She dismisses it, says it was bad, and that's because that's all she remembers.

Pearlanne probably gave her tea from Sybil so she - or Sybil - could 'control' Tabitha to do something in a state of mind where she wouldn't or couldn't remember what she was doing.

OR!

She does remember! Edwardine was conflicted when she killed Charles. But she did it anyway. Because she was made to. Because she *had* to.

THOUGHTS! (aka the part where you can stop because i'm about ready to fall asleep)

I am a little torn about it because of course we have... not so much information to go off of. Many people will tell me I'm going off the goddamn deep end and I should stop overthinking things and it was definitely Pearlanne who killed Wayne. I'm having fun leave me alone :( Others will agree she's apologizing for getting sick. Tabitha needs to save face here, after all, and none of the traits bring up this line of apology either. However, I'm a real life human person who likes reading between the lines! You should see my copy of House of Leaves! It's got lines read-between out the wazoo! That sentence didn't make any sense sorry I'm very tired. And to the few who agree with me...

What do you think pushed her to do it? Was it by some force of control?

And Sybil... what was her part to play in it? Do you think she knew what was happening? If she did, is that why she helps Wayne? Out of some sense of guilt over it all?

Time will only tell. And, after all, that's just a theory. A G- *SHOT*

I finished Sunrise on the Reaping, and it's got me thinking about the original HG movie adaptations... and I genuinely wonder how they screwed up so much of the symbolism and characterization and casting, and the marketing was a sickening but also hilarious mess because... thanks for proving Collins' point I guess?? But then this made me think, "What if Collins deliberately stepped back in the movie-making process because she knew that the Machine would be the Machine and prove her own point?" Like, the irony of entertainment being made about a bunch of kids killing each other in a dystopian world and the focus of the marketing is on how exciting it is and who will "win" in the love triangle is a poignant memory for me of the original movies, but what if Collins let it happen on purpose?

Maybe I'm just honking at nothing and it was simply out of her hands or she didn't care but, maybe. Just maybe.

Oh dear, I made a few posts about it and I'm not really afraid of talking about the general plot. Basically it's 'two years later' in Faraway while Kel attemps to get everyone back together. I have a 'few' things on work for it. Like, today I finished to work on Sunspace Cris.

It HAS going to have a focus on Hero too, because Kel loves him dearly, that's his big bro and all- so yeah, I'm trying to tackle their relationship after Hero left Faraway for a while and Kel is just... trying his best for a person he loves. I have plenty of plans for Kel's bonds with others! Like some sketches like this- because Kel is a good friend (low quality because it was part of a little crappy thing I made to plan out future pixel stuff)

sorry if it's not a lot but I am still at the starting steps, currently working on Jay's character sheet.

Why Shortgrass is AWESOME and why you guys should care RIGHT NOW please

They admire each other's building skills A LOT a lot. To the point that it's basically their own language where they just communicate through compliments and block choice discussion. The horse rivalry is the one thing everyone knows about, but I don't see anyone commenting on the way they get at each other, especially the things Bdubs proposes, all "I hate him now. I didn't think I was capable of hate. I'm gonna get good at PVP. I'm gonna get him. I'm gonna blow him up. Joel is evil and fucked up", literally playing out his murder plans, only to then become a little fangirl as soon as he's in Joel's presence. Joel doesn't show it as much but he's the same way. They're literally 👉👈 at each other. Bdubs is also so susceptible to praise. Although he often plays up his reactions, you know he loves a good compliment and he knows any he gets from his senpai idol guy Joel are genuine

This is especially well showcased when Bdubs was showing off his stalls that have been trapped, and Joel thinking that something is up. Bdubs dedicated an entire episode to this, hyping himself up, and then them actually interacting is tense but extremely polite. And then that whole interaction is capped off with Joel: "Wow I though I was gonna die but this has been really pleasant. Thanks". Then they like playfully taunt each other before Joel flies off and Bdubs goes "That's exactly how that was supposed to go... simple and friendly... I got him played like a fiddle.... yes I do..." after accomplishing nothing but giving Joel a nice little showcase of his new build

That is to say, it's very cute that Bdubs despite his expressions of Joel being despicable gets exposed to his genuine side and how they tend to be very sweet towards each other (examples below). It serves as an interesting but nice contrast to the Life series, where a lot of players (some more than others) go off of the same belief, that Joel is a rabid dog in need of being put down. Joel very much plays into being a rascal, but he means no real harm (eg reassuring Bdubs he wouldn't kill his important horses and you know he won't) and it so easily becomes playful and mutual banter between them

Anyway bunch of moments of them being cute or something that I can't and don't want to sum up organically

At the start of a SL session, Joel is yellow and on 8 hearts, is asking the Mounders for their hearts, Bdubs is hesitant but goes "you deserve it". Then he lies to Etho that Joel was so intimidating and scary and forced him. Then he lies to Impulse that Joel was pathetic and begging for it.??

In one episode of SL, Bdubs tries to help Joel guess someone's task by guiding him to Grian, but Grian's task was to get called out so Joel helps him succeed instead and Bdubs feels really bad about it. Then like 2 episodes later he's, again, sharing intel to help him guess multiple tasks. Something about the way he's above ground talking to Joel for an extended period of time at multiple points while Joel is down under working on an exp farm calling him his favorite snitch (the only person Bdubs doesn't snitch on is Etho. Naturally)

And also Bdubs praising Joel a bunch when he sees him actually digging out the farm. He's praising Joel as if it were his task to do so (like Scar with Pearl in that other SL episode) but he's just. doing this just because

When Bdubs' task is to get someone to leave whilst he's telling a story, Joel eventually does, and Bdubs seeks him out later just to tell him "I knew you would. I knew you got my back"

Joel accidentally shoots Bdubs during the SL finale, he feels awful about it and Bdubs tells himself to eat his golden apple, which poetically reminds Joel to eat his. And then Scott uses Bdubs' death to taunt Joel before killing him too 😐

"Good morning sunshine!" (Joel in response: "morning mr dub")

"Are you trying to swim in lava, angel?"

Bdubs completely unprompted: "Be calm and cool and collected, like Joel is in moments like these, not scared of anything"

Joel mimicking Bdubs in WL going "you see, Minecraft is like a canvas..." and Bdubs reacting to it

Bdubs saying "Hey, don't- calm down, kay? We're gonna get you out of this, okay?" to Joel while Joel's trying to sell him purpur against his will

Bdubs fixing Joel's trapdoors even whilst in the process of horse cursing him

Bdubs talking about how he wants to beat Joel in PVP "for stealing Etho" and then also calling him a good builder unprompted. He's so fanfiction

(More from you guys that I forgot!!) Joel all "different season, you've no reason to hate me now right" at the start of WL and Bdubs goes "no of course not. Except I wanna kill you"

There is a mention of the rendoc marriage in a video and that actually makes me so happy

Up until this point (skizz's newest ep) it was only mentioned in streams and that somewhat annoyed me cuz it was like,, only people that are really invested so they watch streams/vods and such knew about it but now it's actually mentioned *in video* which puts it way more on the forefront and that actually makes me really happy.

If it makes sense,, to me it's like the difference the creator of a show confirming a character's queer on a panel or something similar v actually explicitly showing them as queer in the show, y'know?
