Turning Pictures into Audio (and back to a picture)
So I made two python scripts called the Baird Encoder and the Baird Decoder (named after John Logie Baird), and what the Baird Encoder does is that it converts your image into a mono audio file using the same concept as that of an analog television. The Baird Decoder on the other hand converts the audio BACK into an image, albeit in black-and-white. The decoder can also display mechanical television signals and rip every image frame from that audio signal clip (assuming the signal is perfectly stable)

A couple of recordings were found, and in 1996, were decoded using software. This would also be a first use of computer technology.

Letter to Bairdinoff Coldbrew
Scribbled on parchment in spare moments, spattered with ink and graphite dust. One corner wrinkled and slightly stained with swampwater. Sealed with a small thumbprint in black wax.
Sent June of Current Year
To my dear brother Beard,
As promised: a letter, more regularly than the ones I write to Ma, though I will leave it up to you as to whether its any more interesting. You will have to read both, if she deigns to share, and report back with your findings.
<A few ink blots and scribbled out letters, as though the writer didn’t quite know where to go next for an excessive period of time.>
The trip back to Stormwind was relatively uneventful, considering I opted to hike back. (Or, as you’d no doubt point out: make your ram hike back for me. You can laugh at your luddite little sister; it’s not like I have any intention of changing my ways now.) It was brutally hot on the other side of the mountains, but I did it in a day and change with no ill effects. I promise that your ram did not suffer, either, and spent several days being properly spoiled as compensation for a job well done. If I can get one of the Slabaxe brothers to deal to me, I’ll send him back with one of their caravans this week. Otherwise he’s taken care of until Da makes his monthly run to Dwarven District. I’m sure it’ll be fine either way.
There’s not a whole lot to be said about work this last week - nothing new I can tell you that I haven’t already. It’s been a pretty fair split between dusty, swampy, and dull. I did accidentally stumble into an old vault of some kind: Dwarvish and Titan. Really, I swear on the Stone. It looks like some of our older kin got their first though; someone took everything that wasn’t nailed down. They left the stonework though; it was very pretty and too large for anyone to carry off. I’ve scribbled a bit below, in case you find that sort of thing amusing.

So, other than that? Standing watch. Meetings. Practice, whatever that means for a given day. I thought for a minute about starting another book - don’t tell Brandi, it probably won’t be about a Dwarf anyway, so you might as well save her and Ma the disappointment prematurely. It’s nothing set in stone yet, just feels like I ought to be doing something with my spare time, you know? I’m not sure if I’ll go through with it - there’s nothing that appeals right now, and the publishers aren’t pushing for anything quite yet. Apparently the pirate queen is still selling well enough to keep everyone happy. Besides, even if it’s all 2-copper trash, I still want writing to be something that feels good to be doing. Stone knows there’s enough rote and tedium in my life right now. There, now you can write something wise and insightful back to me and it’ll be just like the old times we should have had.

Write me back when you get this, so I know you didn’t get yourself lost in the woods trying to retrace our steps to the campsite and so I have something to read and respond to in kind. I suppose that’s how this correspondence thing is supposed to go, right? I think I could get used to it. Let me know if there’s anything I can do for you, or your sweet family, or your clinic. I’ve done a shit job showing it the last couple decades, but you’re important to me.
Send your letter to the Royal Bank of Stormwind; they’ll hold it for me AND DON’T TELL MA. There’s no point stressing her over something so trivial, and I’m working on it. Slowly. Promise.

Angara re-reads the letters almost a hundred times before she forces herself to seal it up and drop it in the post.
The missive is perfectly innocent and says none of what she wants it to. She almost doesn’t send it at all - what she wrote isn’t a lie but it’s not the truth in her heart. Baird doesn’t need to hear that, though, least of all from her.
Her brother lost his son.
What can she possibly say to that that he’d want to hear? I’m sorry? For being a shitty sister and a worse aunt? For not going on Argus to watch Col’s back, or at the very least take her share of the risk? For not knowing the lad at all as he grew up because she was so busy doing fuck all with the Wanderers and SI:7?
Apologies aren’t worth the breath they take. This, none of this is about her or her guilt. This is about Baird, and the fear their mother and his wife have for a healer who could not save his child. There’s no fixing what happened: Colim Coldbrew took a demon-tainted blade to the leg in the beginning of the year and died of fel taint in the first week of June, out of his mind and surrounded by family. There’s no power on Azeroth that can change that.
She has no power to change that.
All she can do, all any of them can do, is go onward as best as they can with what they have. So Angara keeps her word to her mother and her sister-in-law and sends the too-normal letter filled with things to distract and amuse, as best as they can. If Baird needs her to do something else, she’ll figure out how to decode it from whatever response he sends.

SHELBURNE – One-on-one talks with fellow amateur radio operators as far away as Moscow are now firmly on the horizon for a Shelburne man.
The erection of two antenna towers on Zachary Mangenello’s rural property on Dorset Street — a source of contention with his neighbors for at least a year — was approved by the Telecommunications Review Board this week.
On paper, and later, in balloon tests that attempted to approximate the towers’ altitude, the structures struck some folks as too tall for the neighborhood.

Best Way To Teach Kids To Read : The Ultimate Guide Most people don't think about the process of learning to read until they decide to start teaching their own children at home. Contrary to what some people believe, learning to read is not a 'natural' process that happens all on its own. It's a complex one that requires the proper teaching of various skills and strategies, such as phonics (knowing the relationship between letters and sounds) and phonemic awareness. The good news is that although reading itself is a complex process, the steps taken in order to build these skills are fairly simple and straightforward. In order to teach kids how to read and make it a positive and rewarding experience, try these simple and time‑tested strategies below. Here are 10 simple steps to teach your child to read at home: 1. Use songs and nursery rhymes to build phonemic awareness Children's songs and nursery rhymes aren't just a lot of fun—the rhyme and rhythm help kids to hear the sounds and syllables in words, which helps them learn to read. A good way to build phonemic awareness (one of the most important skills in learning to read) is to clap rhythmically together and recite songs in unison. This playful and bonding activity is a fantastic way for kids to implicitly develop the literacy skills that will set them up for reading success. 2. Make simple word cards at home Cut out simple cards and write a word containing three sounds on each one (e.g. ram, sat, pig, top, sun, pot, fin). Invite your child to choose a card, then read the word together and hold up three fingers. Ask them to say the first sound they hear in the word, then the second, and then the third. This simple activity requires little prep‑time and builds essential phonics and decoding skills (helping them learn how to sound out words). If your child is just starting out with learning the letters of the alphabet, focus on the sound each letter makes, more so than letter names.
