It's April!
Y'know, it's strange; at this point, I've drawn a fair amount of Rise fanart. But I haven't ever actually drawn April yet! And that needed to change.

Androids and Electric Sheep
Ren is experiencing an unusual bug. Features F resus, M rescuer, CPR, stething, mouth to mouth, internal defibs, sex leading to cardiac arrest, sex acts both with consent and a person who cannot consent. I got too invested in the preamble so I highlighted the moment resus actually starts if you want to skip it.
No matter how advanced technology gets, it’ll only ever be used to fulfill man’s most base desires. Case in point- RN-34678. Or Ren, when the barcodes make my eyes glaze over and I get sick of calling them the number slurry X Tech names absolutely everything. Ren is as sophisticated as they come. Actual artificial intelligence. She makes the predictive text and ‘can’t even draw fingers’ image generating 21st century jokes people passed off as AI look like even more of a waste of time than they had been in those days. They might as well have been Speak n Spells. The collective power of every single basement dwelling crypto whizz kid with miles of wires and burnt up processors and bricked up video cards dedicated to their etherium farms pale in comparison to the computing power it takes to run Ren’s brain for an hour. She understands nearly 6,000 languages. She learns and retains information, consuming nearly 160 TB of memory every 8 hours. The bio-organic lace that makes up the net of her brain is a miracle, with the possibility of infinite memory. She is perfect in every sense of the word.
She is a glorified fuck toy.
The second the first android became commercially available, one of the first markets they hit was sex work. If nothing about late stage capitalism drove you crazy, that would have. Fuck curing cancer, or making androids for the dangerous, back breaking work people wreck their bodies to do, X Tech decided people needed a sex doll with a 100k price tag. The world’s most expensive cum sock. And yeah, alright, maybe I’m just bitter, partially because there’s no way in hell I could ever afford one, even as an android technician. But what a waste. She sits on my examination table, dutifully unzipping her black leather catsuit. Her managers always manage to stick her in something stupid looking, so overblown and sexualized they stop even being sexy at a certain point.
She looks up at me with lilac eyes. Last time they’d been blue. I like this shade better, I think, though I could do without the electric blue bob they have her wearing today. ”Your crash reports say you’ve been throwing error codes whenever a stream donation comes in over 2k,” I say. Which, for a bot like Ren, is quite a lot of her donations. “It’s probably just a bug in payment processing.” I look again over her diagnostics, floating on the screen at my desk. “Any complaints I wouldn’t find in the debug menu?”
”My heart has been feeling strange,” she says. I pause and look at her over the top of my glasses. “Well, firstly, it’s not your heart. An aether pump does not a heart make. Secondly, it shouldn’t feel like anything. You’re supposed to ignore the inner workings, it’s all background programs, runs without you thinking about it.” She shrugs. Her shoulders are pale as she rolls down the catsuit and pulls her arms from the sleeves, bunching up the tight leather around her midriff. Her breasts are small and round, standing upright as pretty as a Botticelli painting. I’d noticed the small bumps on either side of her nipples (Christ, did the things ever go soft? Or were they just always cutting glass?) but didn’t register until I saw them now that her managers had pierced them sometime since our last checkup. Little silver bars were stuck through the pink nubs, with winking silver balls on either end. Alright, cool, chill.
I clear my throat and pull up my rolling stool. “Well, let’s just take a look then.” I shift once I’m seated to alleviate the pressure of my stiffening cock. Listen, I’m not a technophile, honest to God. I go out of my way to filter out androids when I’m scrolling through porn sites because, despite the leaps and bounds we’ve made in technology, the uncanny valley is still a thing. It feels weird getting off to bots. But then there’s Ren. And fuck me if she isn’t the most attractive thing I’ve ever seen. I put a hand on the back of her neck, my thumb resting at the diagnostic mode button hidden just under the edge of her jaw. I feel the soft bump that sinks in when I press. Her lilac eyes flash black with snatches of white text, then roll back to lilac. Damn, she smells like a new car.
I glance back at the monitor, and as I suspected, nothing comes up about the aether pump. It seems in perfect working order. Still, I dig around my box of scrap wires and spare tubing until I find my mostly neglected stethoscope. I don’t often have to use it, but I feel a trill of excitement go up from my stomach to think I get to use it on Ren. I plug up my ears and put a hand on her shoulder, taking the bell of the steth in my other hand. Her breasts rise and fall with the rhythm of her breathing, set to mimic human intervals. The real purpose is to cool down her insides and keep her from overheating, but just like the aether pump and its auditory cues, its designed to mimic humans as closely as possible. After a guy fucks something like Ren, he gets the added benefit of being able to lay next to her and listen to her breathing. Feel her heart beat. Doesn’t matter what the purpose of the design is for, it matters so he doesn’t feel like he’s fucking a 100k fleshlight with arms and legs. I press the steth to a spot above her breast and it sinks into her pillowy soft skin like it was real. Cool it, Christ, you can’t get so hot and bothered over everything. Heel, boy.
But my thumb makes a slight imprint against her tit, and it’s hard to think of anything else. Same thing happens when I press the steth against a space under her breast, and it lays warmly against the back of my hand. The pump, like the fake lungs, is designed to look and act and even sound like a heart, pumping coolant through her body. I tell her it’s not a heart out of some petty, pedantic need to distance myself and my unique humanity, but truth is, the thing is a heart. She could die if something went really wrong with it, and a lot of bots have. Sudden cardiac arrest was one of the main bugs in the 2.3 rollout. It got so bad, tons of models in the service industry had to be recalled, because mechanical line cooks and servers were dropping if the ovens got too hot. My hand still on her neck, I pull her forward and press the bell to her back. Her forehead brushes against my shoulder, her gaudy blue wig draping against the side of my neck and jaw. I tilt my head just enough my nose brushes her hair. Fuck, she really does smell good.
“Well, I don’t hear any irregularities,” I tell her, because I don’t. The thing is pumping liquid aether around her body at around 70 bpm, like it should. She draws up from my shoulder, glancing at me sideways. “It only seems to happen with clients,” she says, drying out my throat in an instant. “Clients?” “Mhm. Whenever one of them climaxes. If they do it inside me, my heart starts going very fast. I get foggy and I can’t think afterwards.” I swallow. “Right,” I say, “I mean… I can’t exactly test that, Ren.” She touches my wrist. “It’s rather frightening, Doc. I worry…” She pauses, and I try very hard not to say out loud what I’m thinking. You shouldn’t be frightened of anything, Ren. You’re not supposed to feel any of this. She sits back, bringing her hand up, her fingers curling against where her pump lies in her chest, half covering her nudity.
She doesn’t want to get recalled. I wince in spite of myself. If she has the same defect others in her rollout had, she’s going right back to X Tech. I push the steth around my neck, scooping back hair from my face. “It’s a pretty fatal system flaw. It… I could… Well, I-“ I can’t look at her. Fuck, I really can’t look at her. My face feels hot. This is the plot of like, 90% of bot R34 on the internet. I might as well be a pizza delivery guy and she a lonely housewife who’s a few bucks short on a large sausage. She ‘breathes’. Her chest goes up and down, the lights winking off her pierced nipples. She’s so goddamn gorgeous.
“Doc?” “Thinking,” I huff. I spare a glance around the other cubicles bordering mine. Big glass offices, designed for this exact stupid fucking thing I’m about to do. The first guy who got caught with his dick in a bot ruined it for everyone, so now my coworkers and I are subjected to rat lab cubicles where we can look in on each other at any given moment. People around us testing reflexes, repairing cosmetic damage, quashing bugs. What I was about to do was also technically debugging, but there was no way in hell my boss was gonna see it that way if he saw my flat ass pumping in and out of a bot worth more than I make in a year on the other side of plexiglass. Alright, cool, chill. I scoop up my backpack with my work laptop and sling it over my shoulder. “Bathroom,” I whisper.
Cut to Ren and I, locked in the women’s bathroom. We have three women in the office, and their cubes are on the other side of the building, closer to another bathroom. This one is usually empty. Cut to her, awkwardly standing in front of a toilet. Me, on the verge of being the Most Fired Man Who Ever Lived. For extra security, I’d stuffed us both into a stall, locking it behind me too. It's cramped, which adds to the feeling this is absolutely not what I'm supposed to be doing. But hey, it's my job, isn't it?
I awkwardly maneuver around her and sit on the toilet lid, hastily undoing my pants. God, this is shameful. And weirdly hot? I can't tell if it's just Ren or the dozen or so corporate regulations and general laws I'm breaking doing this, but I can feel the pulse in my cock, pressing up against the inseam of my jeans. Those lavender eyes flick from my face to the swollen, flushed skin, and the outer rim of her pupils flash with color. I help her roll down the leather catsuit and then, holy shit, Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I’m inside her. She feels real. My hands on her back, my face buried in her tits, her thighs on mine, she feels realer than any woman I had ever known. My breath warms her artificial skin, and the barbell through her nipple is cold, the contrast making me shiver whenever the hot skin of my cheek touches the metal. My fingers slide up her stomach, her hips bucking and pumping me in and out of her. She’s tight. Really fuckin tight. I can feel her aether pump, the artificial heart, throbbing in her inner walls, harder than any real heart I’d ever felt. It adds to every stroke, a thumping sensation that’s nearly making me come after a couple thrusts. Christ, I might as well be sticking my dick right against the chambers of her fake heart.
The job. Right, I’m doing a job. Fuck, I’ve never loved my job so much. “Lemme- ngh, God, fuck- lemme see i-ins-side your ch-est, R-Ren.” She’s straddling my lap, panting like a porn star, her bob swinging back and forth, and she nods. The synthetic skin goes translucent, a dull blue glow that starts at her collarbone and down to the bottom of her ribcage. I spare only a brief chuckle, Man, we never could get rid of those stupid gamer lights, before I try to focus my attention on her inner workings. The aether heart is basically a simplified human one, drawing hot fluid in one side and squeezing out coolant through the other in an eternal ebb and flow. And right now, it’s going insane. The valves are snapping open and closed rapidly, the thing shuddering instead of really beating. There’s a little display window pinned under her collarbone, and it’s clocking her at 150 bpm, the green spikes of her heartbeat saw toothing across the round display port. Not totally dangerous, but as I pump inside of her and she bounces on my thighs to match my quickening pace, it keeps climbing.
Alright. As much as I want to be stuck in here forever, with a beautiful woman bouncing on my dick in a way I’ve only ever dreamed of, I have to figure out what’s wrong. I wrap my arms around her body, pulling her flush against my chest. “Hold onto me, ‘kay?” I breathe against her ear. Her arms slid around me, nails brushing briefly against my shoulder blades. I take in her scent. Focus on the sensations of her body, the sharp cold of her piercings, breasts pressed against my chest, her warm, throbbing cunt. It doesn’t take long. I start to lose the rhythm as my breath shortens, my strokes shortening too, until finally I can take it no more. I come, hot seed filling her up, bathing my cock, spilling out from between our sexes. Her back arches, a cry ripping from her throat of the most exquisite ecstasy.
Then she dies.
No, seriously, the bot quits all at once. I’m there, still trying to enjoy the feeling of my load making her even tighter and full, when she goes completely limp. Her arms slide down from my back, and the artificial pulse I feel in her cunt just stops all at once. She’s dead weight on top of me. “Fuck,” I spit, trying to readjust her, but she’s goddamn heavy. “Ren? Hey, Ren- man, what the fuck-”
I look up at her sternum to see the aether pump has stopped. The little internal monitor is reading a flatline. I fumble to unlatch the bathroom door, my other hand cradling her back, as I awkwardly shift to try and swing it open. Both of us end up in a heap on the floor when I try to pick her up. I'm apologizing to her slack and lifeless face as I disentangle myself and hastily zip up, then lay her flat on her back. Her perfect round breasts sit in the open air, her still heart glowing between them. I set my laptop beside her and hook up a USB into the command port hidden behind her ear.
There was no tip off in her crash reports, but looking now, I can see the absolute mess of code in the last few lines she ran before arresting. I clean up some of the irregularities, get rid of the redundancies, and hit reboot. Two small circular nodes glow within her chest, then snap against the chambers of her heart. Basically built in defib units. Her body jerks, hand twitching in against her cheek, her back arching slightly. Her naked shoulder blades slap against the tile floor as she falls back, limp again. But she doesn't move. Her pump is still. I glance at the monitor and see FATAL SYSTEM ERROR flash across the screen. Fuck, am I going to have to do this manually?
Growling in frustration, I throw my hands against her sternum. It's easy to get the right position when I can see her heart lying beneath a few layers of synthetic skin. Squaring my shoulders, I push down hard. Unlike with real CPR on a real person, depth doesn't matter, nor the risk of breaking ribs. She's basically Wolverine. A hydraulic crusher couldn't break her ribs. They yield though, and bow in against her spine as I rhythmically pump her heart. The force ripples through her whole body. Her stomach pops up, her shoulders shrug in, her head rolls back and forth. I look from her face down to her tits. I can't help it, they're swaying with each compression, the light catching her piercings. I can feel the cool metal rest against my fingers. The position my hands are in leaves my fingertip pressing against her nipple, still standing upright from our exercise. A shiver runs through me. Am I seriously getting hard again? It's hard not to. My eyes drink in her still body, the remnants of our session dribbling down her thigh, her breasts bouncing like they had when she was riding me.
I can almost see the corner of the screen light up with “Kink Unlocked: Reviving Dead Girls”. I glance at the monitor and see the reboot option has lit up again. When I take my hands away from her chest, I see her aether pump jerking as if trying to start again. Once more I charge the internal defibrillators. While they hum to life, I partake in a ritual that isn't strictly necessary. The hero always gets to indulge in mouth to mouth with the downed heroine. She doesn't actually need air, but her lips are slack, full and inviting. I press mine over hers, breathing air she doesn't need into her mouth. I can feel her cheeks puff, and I'm surprised but excited to see her chest rises too. I give her a few quick bursts of oxygen. Her chest jerks up and I only allow it to fall part way before I give her another, making her chest rise and fall in short hyperventilations. My hand finds itself running up her stomach to feel the motion of my breaths, up over her breast again. It fills my palm as I breathe a long, slow draft into her throat, and I roll her nipple between my fingers. She sighs out recycled air against my face when I break the seal of our lips.
Man, how do EMTs not cum when they resuscitate hot girls? The whole tableau is so erotic, I can feel my pulse once more jerk in my cock. The defibs once more slap the chambers of her artificial heart and she thrashes under the current. Her breasts sway and she again falls limp to the tiles.
“Come on, Ren,” I say under my breath, watching her aether pump swelling at uneven intervals. The chambers aren't beating right still, snapping open and closed out of sync with one another. I again check her code on my laptop, using one hand to tap through my options. The other I lay against her sternum. It occurs to me I really don't know what the fuck I'm doing. Whatever feels like it helps, I guess. Or whatever feels good. I grind my heel in against her heart in slow, rhythmic compressions with one hand. “Come on, work with me here. Breathe for me. Do something, at least let me know you're not completely bricked.” The idea that she might be makes me swallow hard. I like Ren. I don't want to ship her off to the junkyard as much as she doesn't want to be shipped.
When her heart goes still again I lace my fingers together and start pumping her chest anew. I forget my laptop entirely- this isn't a software issue, it's the hardware in her chest acting up. If I can just get the damn thing to reset. Swinging my leg over her supple thighs, I straddle her so I can use my whole body. Like this, I can feel the motion my work creates in her otherwise still body. Each powerful thrust against her pump rolls the kinetic force through her whole body. Her feet swing back and forth. The force rolls from her chest, down her stomach, even rippling her thighs. Each compression makes her stomach roll out, only now I can feel it between my legs.
Fuck it, I'm already fired. These life saving efforts have got me hard all over again, something I would have thought impossible. I unzip and thrust into her almost in one motion. It's next to impossible to actually pump into her while I'm working her heart, so I mostly settle for letting her body rock into me while I do CPR. Only when the prompt for the defibrillator pops up again do I allow myself to roll my hips into her while it charges. The thing whines quietly as I brace my hand against her chest, driving my cock deep inside her. It slaps her heart again and she arches her back, filling my hand against her sternum. Her inner walls clench with the electricity and I groan as I roll in and out of her. That's when she draws in a breath and moans all at once. Her eyes flutter open and she instinctively begins to grind her hips in rhythm with me. Before long I'm filling her up all over again and I collapse on top of her. She's back. The thought strikes me as I look down and see her aether pump snapping out a normal, if elevated rhythm. I roll off onto the welcome chill of the tile floors, my arm still slung around her.
“You okay?” I pant, my eyes half lidded as I look at her. Ren nods, smiling weakly in return. Then she’s wrapping her arms around me, burying her face in my shoulder. I hesitate, the shame of what I had done to her when she was basically dead starting to creep up now that the high is waning. But eventually I slide my arms around her in return, drawing her close to my body. “Thank you, doc,” she whispers.
“Don't mention it.” Seriously, don't mention any of this.

WAD: Cover Art
dan is still working on selling the distribution rights for We're All Doomed! so i decided to make some DVD/Blu-ray disc jacket art!
this is my attempt at a traditional jacket design! none of the images used are mine, but i did create the concept and design:
Tumblr media
as i was making the first one for myself, i was struck by the fact that 'well, it's for me, so it doesn't have to look like a stereotypical jacket cover' which led me to be more artsy in my approach for the next one:
Tumblr media
i was really enjoying the creativity and space to explore, so i went looking for more inspiration for a third design. this led me to dan's favourite Muse album: Origin of Symmetry, which i paid homage to:
Tumblr media
after the first Muse album, i looked at their catalogue to see if there was more inspiration there. i was just thankful dan's favourite was easy stylistically to mimic, unlike say, 2009's The Resistance...
Tumblr media
thank you @danielhowell for the inspiration!
nerdy stuff & reference pics below the cut!
General notes
i don't know how to use photoshop! i entirely brute-forced my way through the whole project, and the only tutorial i looked up was for the gradient text in the 4th cover
this wasn't even the original project i was working on! you'll eventually get to see that though
and this one also inspired art for the disc itself so stay tuned 👀
i will do anything for authenticity so these are Full of intentional details
matching fonts is a nightmare
the traditional cover
took the longest, as it was the first.
the barcode numbers are the date of the first video he uploaded on dinof, and the last tour show date (in m/d/y)
i changed 'iceland' to 'poland' on the front cover, as he never actually went to iceland, and poland wasn't ever on the list even though he did go there
the orange may look a little off-center in the front, but these designs need to include space for a spine between the front and back cover, i promise it's right 😂
the black and white cover
inspired by the 'i want to believe' aliens poster
the cover art comes from his metal band merch shirt design
i had to manually shrink the text, line by line, and ensure it all lined up on the back!
i even made the logos on the back greyscale
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the Muse: Origin of Symmetry cover
a shockingly perfect style for a WAD cover. i'm so glad i used the cubes, even if they couldn't be orange.
there's some versions of the art online where the sky is even more orange and it baffles me how i haven't seen any parallels like this before
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the Muse: The Resistance cover
this cover was never supposed to see the light of day! i meant it when i said i was grateful i didn't have to try to adapt this complex design... and yet, i tried anyway.
i did all the grid lines by hand, including the jagged/broken edge parts, shading each section, and then drawing every star.
the hardest part was getting the gradient on the back text to cooperate. photoshop's gradient settings are surprisingly limited
gotta shout out @amazingphil for being the reason i knew what this cover looked like--it's the only muse album i knew the art of before embarking on this quest!
Tumblr media
obligatory sob story:
i've been extremely and suddenly ill for 6 months. it is difficult to function moment to moment, but especially in doing little things just for me. this is the first and only art project i've been able to feel inspired to not only work on, but to finish, and despite the pain and long hours, i enjoyed every minute of it. thank you, dan, for creating this space for me to explore, and thank you, everyone here, for being wonderful support during this time 💞

OFB Props: Signs 001 Mix
Tumblr media
Published: 7-14-2024 | Updated: N/A SUMMARY 100 posters, tags, and area signs to organize sale items on your commercial lots. Customize poster images, infographics, and barcodes/currency labels. Labels are color-coded in Simlish and English to make sorting objects easier: COOK (white label/for cookables, ingredients), DRINK (red label/ for edible beverages), EAT (pink label/for edible foods), GROW (green label/ for harvestables), HEAL (orange label/for functional medicines, motive boosters), CRAFT (brown label/for craftables, ingredients), STOCK (yellow label/for stockable foods, supplies), USE (blue label/for all other functional items), VIEW (gray label/for deco only items), and “other” (black and purple/barcode). These are general deco items, so you don’t have to sort by function/color unless you want to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
DETAILS Pets EP or higher. Cost: $3 | Environment: +1 | Buy > Deco > Wall Hangings/Sculptures (some signs don’t have to be placed on walls) You need my Poster Pack (Simmons, 2024) for all poster recolors. Sale Poster 7 (barcodes/currencies), and Ceiling Sign Info 4 (infographics) – are also REQUIRED. Recommended textures sizes for new recolors are 512x512 (poster graphics) and 512x128 (bar codes/currencies, infographics). Simlish text is ideal since images may be reversed on the back side of some objects, or slightly stretched. *Thumbnails for the BACK side of the posters may not generate accurately in the catalog (default game quirk). Make sure you can see the back side onscreen when recoloring. Finally, you’ll likely need “moveobjects on/off” and “snaptogrid on/off” cheats when placing some items.
ITEMS 11 ceiling signs (160-440 poly, poster images on signs 1-6 appear on back side). 11 standing signs (188-440 poly) 3 curved standing signs (548 poly) 10 wall signs (220-224 poly) 5 curved wall signs (874-876 poly) 3 curved/winged signs (1072 poly) 7 hanging signs (269 poly) 6 Instore Mini Billboards (4t2 conversion by NekoSayuri, 2018; EA; 116 poly) 5 Lil’ Business Chalkboards (4t2 conversion by itsnotdissimilar, 2016; EA; 128 poly) 7 framed posters (64 poly) 5 unframed posters (12 poly) 4 taped, unframed posters (108 poly) 3 unframed, wrinkled posters (18 poly) 3 wrinkled tags (34 poly) 3 smooth tags (155 poly, poster images appear reversed on back side) 3 info/barcode tags (4-60 poly) 6 easel signs (512 poly) 6 sales card on stands (card mesh by Cathee, 2008; 40 poly).

COMPATIBILITY I recommend using Shift Everything (Lamare, 2022) or Object Freedom 1.02 (Fway, 2023) to enable floor-to-ceiling shiftability for all objects. This will also minimize shadow issues when shifting the signs. Some signs show a small gap between the frame and poster when viewed at close range. so i redesigned my mutant xenomorph oc after seeing romulus
pls dont repost my art or remove my captions. reblogs help more than likes. <3
large version of the infographic under the cut, with text ID included!
Tumblr media
[text ID: Displayed is a series of graphics and data which convey some sense of lore about the oc. From right to left, top to bottom: first, there is the creature's shoulder tattoo design, replete with a Weyland-Yutani corporate logo and an identification barcode. Next, we see the text PROPERTY OF WEYLAND-YUTANI, SUBJECT IX, followed by two lists of traits. The first list is as follows, with a series of bulletpoints represented with DNA strands, to denote the creature's genetics: human, fungus, xenomorph. The second list is represented with generic, triangular bulletpoints and is as follows, hyper pyrophobic, increased intelligence, warblooded mutation, responsive to training, small/compact form, primarily quadrupedal. The next portion of the graphic is below a large biohazard symbol, and reads: CAUTION! this subject contains trace amounts of the pathogen S0-3959X.91-15, aka prometheus fire and/or 'black goo'. handle with care. do not terminate the subject. keep contained at all times. crew is expendable in event of containment breach. the following is a series of generic lab information, most of which is redacted. the artist admits to needing to fill space to make the graphic look nice. rip.]

"Everything You Need to Know About Thermal Paper: A Guide by Parthivi Labels and Paper"
Welcome to the ultimate guide to thermal paper, brought to you by Parthivi Labels and Paper! Whether you're a business owner, a printer, or someone interested in the world of labels and receipts, thermal paper plays an important role in many industries. Let’s dive into what thermal paper is, its uses, and why choosing the right type of thermal paper is essential for your business.
What is Thermal Paper?
Thermal paper is a special type of paper that is coated with a chemical layer that changes color when exposed to heat. Unlike regular paper, thermal paper doesn't require ink or toner for printing. Instead, a thermal printer applies heat to the surface of the paper, causing it to react and form the text or images.
Thermal paper is commonly used in receipt printers, barcode labels, and point of sale (POS) systems due to its convenience and cost-effectiveness.
Types of Thermal Paper
At Parthivi Labels and Paper, we offer a variety of thermal paper products to meet the diverse needs of our clients. Here's a breakdown of the different types of thermal paper:
Standard Thermal Paper
Used in most receipt printers and POS systems.
Ideal for short-term use as it tends to fade over time when exposed to light or heat.
Top coated Thermal Paper
Has an additional coating to protect the print from fading.
Ideal for applications that require longer-lasting prints like shipping labels and tickets.
Black Thermal Paper
Features a black color as opposed to the standard white or cream.
Often used in specialty printing like high-end tickets or custom receipts.
Eco-friendly Thermal Paper
Coated without harmful chemicals like BPA.
A great option for businesses aiming to reduce their environmental impact.
Why is Thermal Paper So Popular?
Thermal paper is widely used in various industries for several reasons:
Efficiency: Thermal printers are fast and require no ink, making them cheaper to maintain.
Cost-Effective: The simplicity of thermal printing cuts down on the costs of ink cartridges, toners, and ribbons.
Durability: Thermal paper prints are resistant to smudging, and the print quality remains clear under normal use (though it can fade if exposed to excessive light or heat).
Space-Saving: With no ink or toner cartridges, thermal printers are often more compact, making them ideal for smaller spaces.
How Does Thermal Paperwork?
Thermal paper has a special heat-sensitive coating that reacts when exposed to the heat generated by a thermal printer’s print head. As the print head heats up specific areas of the paper, the chemicals in the coating turn black, creating the printed image or text.
Tips for Choosing the Right Thermal Paper
When selecting thermal paper for your business, it's important to consider the following factors:
Printer Compatibility: Ensure that the thermal paper rolls fit your printer’s specifications (e.g., size, diameter).
Print Duration: If you need prints that last longer, opt for top-coated thermal paper or eco-friendly options.
Environmental Considerations: Look for BPA-free thermal paper if sustainability is important to your business.
At Parthivi Labels and Paper, we specialize in high-quality, BPA-free thermal paper options that are perfect for businesses aiming to reduce their environmental footprint without compromising quality.
How to Store Thermal Paper
Proper storage is essential to maintain the quality of your thermal paper. To keep your paper in the best condition:

Warnings: Mentions of foot trauma, blood, hypnosis, mentions of violence. GN reader
(~ AN: I had a dream and now I may or may not have a new Slasher OC. Depends on if there’s any interest, I suppose! Thank you for reading ~)

~~
The muscles of your arm ache, the crook of your elbow overburdened by this semester’s required texts. You shift them slightly, winching when the corner of Human Anatomy, 7th Edition jabs the mystery bruise on your inner arm. Should have grabbed a basket.
Something nags at you, some detail pulling at the back of your mind, bordering on urgent (where did that bruise come from)—
You blink and check the print-out clutched in your palm. One last text: The Principles of Human Physiology. You scan the shelves, your mind strangely fuzzy. It’s difficult to focus; you stare at the correct book for a full minute before you realize what you’re doing.
You grunt when the heavy tome comes to rest atop the rest. Awkwardly, you lug the stack to the checkout, sighing in relief when you dump them onto the counter. You massage your aching arm.
The girl behind the counter pops her gum, the rapid beep, beep of the barcode scanner increasing the green price displayed on the screen. You grimace. This is robbery—
“Are you okay?” You startle, realizing the girl is speaking to you. Confused, you frown in response. She raises a hand, points to your face. Mirroring her, your fingertips press to your cheek and come away wet.
You’re crying.
“Oh…. I’m—I’m sorry…I dunno why….” Hastily, you wipe the tears away. She looks concerned, wary. Your face burns in embarrassment. What the hell is wrong with you?
“These prices, right?” the girl jokes in an effort to ease the tension and you force out a humorless laugh, nodding absently. You pay, hurriedly retrieve your bag, and depart without a backward glance.
Outside the university bookstore, the hallway buzzes with activity as students prepare for the upcoming semester. Nervous freshman trail behind parents hurrying to the next task. Student rush to and fro to sign up for classes, meet with advisors, purchase parking passes, retrieve student IDs. Coffee machines hiss at the nearby cafe, their rich scents blanketing the hallway and overpowering the antiseptic smell of freshly mopped floors.
You skirt the line awaiting caffeination, intent on the exit. One more little obstacle awaits: A group of people mingling outside a classroom. You’ll just ease yourself through the throng—
Green eyes meet yours. Fear—bone-numbing, abject horror—crashes over you like you’ve been plunged into an icy lake. Impending doom, imminent death, unbridled panic call to you from those eyes. The scariest part is not knowing why.
It…he…. It’s just some guy, someone you’ve never seen before. He’s tall, mostly generic looking despite the shock of red hair. Young-ish, maybe mid twenties. The face doesn’t ring a bell; you’ve never seen him…. Never?
Something twinges, the barest hint of a memory. It’s…it’s right there, if you could just access it….
Instinct tells you to flee. Your muscles stiffen, body poised to retreat. Then, he shakes his head.
Your breath seizes in your lungs. The action built up in your sinew ceases and you still, rooted to the spot. You can’t move!
He breaks from the crowd and slowly makes his way toward you. With every leisurely step he takes, trepidation grows. More tears well up in your eyes. Each breath is only a little gasp despite the heaving of your chest.
His hand closes around your upper arm and he spins you as he walks, half dragging you along with him. Your right foot lags behind, like it doesn’t want to cooperate. You would have crashed to the floor if not for his vise-like grip on your flesh.
You want to scream for help, to reach for the nearest person, but your muscles refuse to cooperate, like you can’t control them. You can only move your legs to keep up with his stride. He tows you to an empty classroom, guides you inside, and closes the door. The cacophony from the hallway immediately quiets, voices and activity now a muted memory.
You’re alone with him.
Tears spill freely down your face now. The bag of books falls to the floor with a heavy thud. You stagger away, your foot throbbing. Why does it hurt? And more importantly, why are you so afraid of this man?
He crosses to you, cages you in against the wall. ‘Get away, get out, get away!’ your mind screams and pleads with you to act, but you’re stuck as though your shoes are glued to the freshly mopped floors.
He raises a hand. You flinch, expecting a blow, but instead he snaps his fingers three times in quick succession.
The world fades away.
**
Your expression goes slack, your eyes glazing over. Your body calms, relaxes. You’re still, an empty doll awaiting instruction.
A triumphant smile spreads across his face. He could not have asked for better results. Not only did you spend all morning walking around on a broken foot without noticing, you also hadn’t recognized him.
Well, not fully anyway. Innate fear, it seems, cannot be removed from the psyche. However, the memories of why the fear had developed in the first place…. Those can be shaped and buried as much as his heart desires.
With two fingers, he pats your damp cheek. No response, not even a twitch. A glance down at your feet finds the toe of your shoe stained with red. As he watches, the spot spreads, scarlet seeping into the fabric of your footwear. You’re bleeding into your shoe.
It’s not surprising. The foot had been such a mangled mess when he’d forced it back into a shoe early this morning. He’d taken such great care to break every single bone, after all.
Best get you back to the workshop before you bleed all over the tile.
He leans back over you, bringing his face inches from yours. Quietly, he says your name. Your glassy eyes meet his, intent on his next words.
“You are not in pain. Nothing hurts. Isn’t that wonderful?” You nod, a little half smile tugging at your slack mouth. He continues, “It’s time to go. You will walk 10 paces behind me, carrying all your school books. When you get into my car, you will go to sleep. You will come back to semi-consciousness in three, two, one….”
You blink, eyes focusing. Standing up straight, your hands come up and wipe away the tears wetting your cheeks. With purpose, you retrieve the heavy bag of books and stand at attention, waiting. You don’t look at him.
It’s like you can’t even see him right next to you.
Suppressing his grin, he makes it way out of the classroom and toward the exit. Diligently, you follow ten steps behind.
Outside, a cool breeze ruffles his copper hair. Fresh air fills his lungs as he inhales deeply, contentment washing over him in gentle waves.
Curiously, he wonders how many holes he can put in your chest before your body reacts.
It’s going to be such a busy afternoon.

Election Fraud Is Hard
I just got back from being the Democratic observer at a "Risk Limiting Audit."
Here in Georgia, the Dominion scanners read either the mail-in ballot or the machine-printed ballot that is created when you use the machine to select your votes in person. The scanners read a QR-style barcode, but there's also a plain-text summary of the person's vote for every race printed on it.
But how do we know the scanners are reading the mail-in ballots correctly, or that the QR code actually matches the voter's picks? That's what this audit is for. The state generates random numbers that are then used for every county in Georgia to pick a few batches - the in-person votes from a specific precinct, or a specific 100-vote group of the mail-ins, or one of the bundles of early votes. While it doesn't show in the public results, the state keeps a record of the results from EACH batch as it was reported by the machines on or after Election Day.
So on Audit Day, each county pulls out those randomly selected batches, puts each batch on a table with two paid election workers (to double-check each other), and they hand-count them. They use their human eyes to read the printed text, ignoring the barcode, or they visually count the check marks on the mail-in ballots. Those human-generated results are then checked against the machine-generated results, and we see if they match.
So next time you hear someone talking about the machines changing the vote, or wondering about those QR codes, or whatever, let 'em know - there really are humans going back and double-checking this stuff. And not just one human - there's two at each table, and election supervisors organizing it, and partisan observers sitting there keeping an eye on the process. And this is just ONE of the many checks and precautions. Other states have different procedures, but they're all careful and thorough. Election fraud is HARD, y'all - and that's why there's so little of it.

So....I don't generally like to call ppl out on the Internet, but I can't be silent about this, because it's a little creepy and weird (honestly more like a lot creepy). Got served a TikTok today about Jeff and Barcode...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did mark out the name of the creator, because I'm not trying to send hate their way, but I am very much disgusted by the implications of the text that they put in the TikTok.
Now if you're confused about why this is upsetting, in general with BL characters, the couple names follow a common order--that order being TopBottom. In the case of acting pairs, often fans will take that order and apply it to the actors pairing name, so PayuRain is BossNoeul, WinTeam is BounPrem, etc. The text insinuates that Barcode is becoming the top because he is now taller than Jeff, and may be more muscular. It's feeding into a trope that any gay man who is shorter, slighter of build, must be a bottom. It's giving very much "real men don't get fucked, they do the fucking". Now I would think that it's fairly obvious that this is a damaging and quite misogynistic viewpoint, but I will break it down a little further for you why.
The trope in BL stories of having the bottom be physically smaller, have more delicate features, perhaps behave more 'femininely' is damaging for two specific reasons. It reinforces the misogynistic idea that feminine traits are inherently lesser than masculine ones, and it perpetuates a potentially harmful stereotype, creating the idea that a man must behave a certain way based on what their preference is in bed. Now you may say "well this is just tropes in a show" but there are real world consequences to these ideas. If you interact AT ALL regularly with queer men, you will likely have encountered a man who was bullied and even assaulted because someone perceived them as being 'too feminine'. We know of actual cases of more 'effeminate' men being discriminated against, or being told to tone things down, recently PP Kritt in his performance at the SongShan music festival. There's been an ongoing discussion in China regarding how to make sure men 'stay masculine' even.
And the rigidness around positions portrayed in much of BL, kind of across the board, not even just in East Asian or South East Asian BL, is incredibly inaccurate to actual reality. The reality is that the VAST majority of gay men will engage on both sides of the sexual dynamic. Verses are the norm, no matter what BL would lead you to believe. That's not to say there aren't people and couples with preferences they tend to stick to, there certainly are, but that's not going to be the most common experience.
Now let's step back into the issue I have with this video. It's not okay to speculate publicly on the sexual practices of strangers on the internet. We have NO confirmation of any type of romantic relationship between these men, so speculating on their sexual dynamic is already taking a leap. But even if we DID have confirmation. Even if we were talking about a pair that we know 100% are together like Porsche and Arm, making comments about their sex life openly on Beyonce's internet...not okay. Don't do that. It's wildly inappropriate, and honestly pretty creepy. If you simply MUST speculate, do so in private spaces, like a discord or group chat.
I do also want to point out that beyond the problematic behavior of speculating publicly about a stranger's sexuality, it's simply not your business, in regards to EA and SEA actors it can be dangerous. While most of those countries do not consider homosexuality to be illegal, there are still very few that have legal protections set in place for queer people. Meaning if these men were to lose sponsorships, brand deals, potential roles, because of their 'perceived sexuality' based off of internet rumors--then they may not have any legal recourse against any of those companies. And MANY posts that assert things like this do tag the ship names, meaning it's fairly easily locatable with keyword searches.
So just....think twice before you post speculations about any celebrity's sexuality. And don't publicly discuss the dynamics of an actual real person's sexual preferences. Because it's gross.

obviously this will be different for each printer - your best bet is to ask your printer what rich black they use for the print process you're going with!
the above rich black formulation comes to a Total Area Coverage of 300% (adding together the percentages of each of the CMYK values). that TAC would be too high for my UV ink high speed digital printer because the curing lamps wouldn't have enough time to penetrate that amount of ink and the result would be uncured ink that would easily scrape off the substrate.
generally during prepress i substitute whatever rich black is in artwork for our formulation (C25 M15 Y15 K99 - believe it or not, that -1% in the black makes a difference for the curing lamps), but if you're in direct contact with a printer and want to be best friends with prepress — just ask! i generally only print on coated material, but if you're printing on uncoated (usually matt materials) that rich black formulation will change again.
and this changes yet again depending on the type of ink (or toner) — non-uv inkjet cures by regular old drying out, so ink concentration can mean the difference between long drying times and high TAC could lead to curling paper. and i'm still just thinking about digital — this isn't even getting into offset printing which is a whole other can of worms!
and yes PLEASE do not use rich black in text on uncoated material (or any body copy really), and omg please don't use it in your barcodes or QR codes because you're just asking for blurry unscannable messes (the time I had to change barcodes on 250 artworks to K100 hahaha IT'S FINE)
anyway just talk to your printer - we're fucking nerds we love when designers actually care about this shit instead of swanning in with visionary designs that have no basis in material reality 😅

Finding the Tracking Chip/Meanwhile Julio
<prev next>
And we're back on our BS again! What was supposed to be one chapter broke into two mini-chapters, which then necessitated a brief explanation in between the chapters that led us to a different POV, thus two mini-chapters that were too short to stand alone as full-length chapters were born. Still following? Good.
Shoutout to my awesome beta readers @whumped-by-glitter and @generic-whumperz and to you readers for keeping me motivated to continue this crazy thing!
TW/CWs: medical whump, allusions to past whump, allusions to past noncon body mod, slave whump, brief (but unrelated) description of serious injury, aftermath of death of a major character, light emotional angst
Sneaking Moun–Khaled into the radiology lab to get a comprehensive series of X-rays was surprisingly easy. The X-ray technician owed him one from back in the day, and Vik willingly called in his favor. They guided Khaled onto the table and did a comprehensive scan of his entire body, especially his head. When the X-rays had developed, not only did they find Khaled’s brain to be completely normal, they found an irregular rectangular object lodged under the skin of his left shoulder blade. That, combined with the barcode tattoo behind Khaled’s ear, twisted Vik’s stomach into knots as he realized this stranger was more than likely telling the truth.
“That’s it!” Khaled cried, pointing excitedly at the picture. “That’s my tracking chip!”
“Yeah, there it is,” Vik repeated with a sinking feeling of just how real everything was becoming. “Least it’s probably not too far in there, we can remove it easily–”
The beeping of Vik’s pager went off, signaling him to another, more pressing emergency. “Shit, I gotta take this,” Vik said, excusing himself.
Khaled looked up at him as he straightened up from the table. “You’re just going to leave me here?”
“Ashley, you mind directing him to the break room and telling him to wait for me to get him?” he asked the X-ray technician.
Ashley raised her eyebrows, placing a hand on her hip as she glared up at Vik. “Yes, I mind!” she scoffed. “How am I supposed to explain what a non-staff rando is doing in our breakroom?”
“Just tell them it’s my cousin from Joyous Springs, they’re never gonna check anyway. Now really, I gotta go, someone’s come in with a chainsaw stuck in their side!” he insisted. Khaled and Ashley’s protests were muted by the heavy radiology door swinging shut as he left.
-
‘If you take out a high-profile hit, it’s best to lay low for a bit.’ That’s what Julio’s mentor would’ve told him, in a circumstance like this. He knew he should go dark, retreat to one of their designated safe houses with the rest of the Juicio Divino guys who were involved, and wait for the news cycle to move on before quietly slipping back into the world. But here he was, still within the city, tapping frantically away on his phone while his accomplices honked the horn of the minivan impatiently.
“Jefe, vámanos!” Mariano insisted.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m coming!” Julio yelled back, never tearing his gaze from his phone.
To Cariño: Where tf are you??? Like I really need to talk to you, this is urgent, where are you? KHALED WHERE ARE YOU???? Can you at least tell me you’re safe? Where are you????
He didn’t dare call his boyfriend’s number, in case he wasn’t safe, wherever he was. Still, it was tortuous being left in the dark like this. Not even Nico knew, as he had planned on tagging along on their strategic retreat northwest. That left his lover’s fate uncertain, and neither of them knew why Khaled hadn’t answered his texts.
Alphonso clamped a hand on his shoulder and steered him toward the minivan. “You can send those messages in the car, cuz! Go, get in!”
He was about to protest until he met his older cousin’s adamant glare. “The longer you wait around, the more danger you put yourself and those boys in,” Alphonso spelled out for him. “And I will not let you go back to prison again, nor anyone else!”
Julio deflated his posture. Alphonso, as usual, was right. He had originally hoped that he could take Khaled up to the safe house with them to explain everything (and maybe have some sweet, sweet, ‘thank you for saving me’ sex, if he was more honest with his baser nature.) But he couldn’t afford to wait forever for him. He had a duty to the members of Juicio Divino first, and he’d be damned if these guys were arrested and incarcerated because his half-baked scheme. “Alright,” he sighed in defeat.
His phone pinged as soon as he sandwiched himself into the back seat with Guillermo and Tochtli. He whipped out his phone.
Cariño: Hey, sorry I didn’t respond sooner. I’m at a hospital.
Julio’s heart shot into his throat. He fired off a response as Mariano started up the minivan.
Shit, are you okay? Are you hurt? Cariño: I’m fine. Gonna get my tracker removed once the doc comes back.
Julio exhaled a sigh of relief. Nico turned around in his seat in front of Julio. His face sported some nasty bruises from when Tom attacked him, and there was now a cut under his swollen right eye. “Was that Khaled?” he asked eagerly.
“Yeah. He’s okay,” Julio answered. He offered up a quick prayer of thanks as he made the sign of the cross in front of his chest. “He’s going underground, too. Getting that damn tracker removed.”
Nico smiled. “Good for him.” Satisfied, he turned back around in his seat.
The van pulled out of the parking lot of Alvarez Auto and Motors with the single-minded destination of a little cabin off Hemlock Lake in Upstate New York. Julio sent his last messages before turning off his cellphone for the foreseeable future.
That’s great! Listen though, I need to go underground for a while and I won’t be able to reach you for some time, so if you need something from me, just see Alphonso at the shop and he’ll take care of it. Until then, I’ll talk to you later. Te amo, meri jaan.
