#Bc your bbq BETTER be spicy

not to be THAT white bitch on main but like. coleslaw really is pretty good if you use it as it was intended. which is. like how you eat that tasty pickled ginger between bites of sushi to cleanse your palette. you use coleslaw to cleanse and cool your palette between bites of fatty, spicy, delicious barbecue. please stop using it as a salad.

weirdly specific and unrelated asks to know someone well:
1. chipotle order?
large, whole wheat, no beans extra rice, ground beef, everything on it, no guac (bc $$), extra onions, extra sour cream, chipotle bbq sauce. sometimes ask for hot sauce but tbh i usually add sriracha every few bites lol
2. thoughts on veganism?
if you’re doing it for environment reasons it’s better to eat local. don’t like how it contributes to microplastics in the environment.
3. a specific color that gives you the ick?
blue screen of death blue
4. mythical creature you think/believe is real?
don’t have one.
5. favorite form of potato?
pierogies (must be a little chewy) or truffle mashed potato. mcdonalds french fries
6. do you use a watch?
yes i have a black fitbit and a watch my mum gave me for my 21st birthday.
7. what animal do you look forward to seeing when you visit an aquarium?
whalesharks if they have them. seahonses. the big aquarium where there’s everything.
8. do you change into specific clothes for the house when you get home?
yes bc outside is dusty and dirty and there’s probably sweat if i biked.
9. do you have a skincare routine (and how many steps is it)?
yes. u should have one if you don’t already (moisturiser and sunscreen). i’m lazy so it’s just 2-3 steps and then more stuff when i have the energy/remember.
morning: water, toner, moisturiser, sunscreen
night/post-shower: cleanser (in shower), [acids/niacinamide], toner, moisturiser, vaseline on lips
10. on a plane, do you ask for apple or orange juice?
neither, i get tomato juice. learned it from my dad
11. anything from your childhood you’ve held on to?
physically? nothing. emotionally, i try not to. nothing bad happened i just get embarrassed
12. brand of haircare/bodycare/skincare that you trust 100%?
i have HG products but i would never trust a company 100% ever. my hair conditioner, nivea creme, some misc skincare.
13. first thing you’re doing in the purge?
hiding out with trusted friends until it’s over bc these people/system of gvt is insane.
14. do you think you’re dehydrated?
i drink 2L a day mininum now so no. used to be though.
15. rank the methods of death: freezing, burning, drowning
freezing > drowning > burning (most to least preferred)
burning is the worst no question because you take the longest to die and it hurts like hell. freezing your body slowly shuts down and you stop feeling cold after a while. drowning hurts but is fast.
16. thoughts on mint chocolate chip?
fave childhood flavour but moved away to more weird flavours. is my sister’s current favourite.
17. an anxious compulsion you do everyday?
don’t have one
18. your boba/tea order?
a. brown sugar pearl milk tea with sea salt cream/cheese cream on top or b. roasted milk tea with pudding, grass jelly, tapioca
19. the veggie you dislike the most?
celery. can’t eat it unless it’s megacooked in soup and you can’t taste it.
20. favorite disney princess movie?
maybe mulan? haven’t watched disney in forever.
21. a number that weirds you out?
you guys have that?
22. do you have an emotional support water bottle?
just a regular water bottle....it’s a purple and white nalgene. no stickers bc they’ll wash off and tbh i feel it’s hard to keep 100% clean.
23. do you wear jewelry?
yes. earrings always, necklace and ring if i remember
24. which do you find yourself using, american or british english?
british bc hong kong bc colonised.
25. would you say you have good taste in music?
absolutely not bc my taste in music doesn’t exist. i just listen to whatever
26. how’s your spice tolerance?
medium to high. i like the korean spicy noodles 2x and eat them regularly
27. what’s your favorite or go-to outfit?
dark blue high waisted jeans, nice black top (long sleeves), silver jewellery, black boots, two dutch braids.
28. last meal on earth?
too hard bc i love so many types of food
29. preferred pasta noodle?
currently rotini

Tumblr media

—iwa + thighs + 11:11pm
++ warnings: smut (18+), shower sex, thighfucking, plenty of aftercare // wc: 622

taking a shower before bed is one of the best ways to unwind. you love stepping under the hot water, letting the pleasant warmth and steam envelop you and relax your muscles while you cleanse yourself of the day—even better on nights like tonight when you hear the shower curtain being drawn open, your boyfriend stepping in to join you with his perfectly sculpted athletic trainer body on full display.
soon enough iwaizumi’s strong but tender hands are lathering soap across your skin, gently massaging your flesh as he goes. though his touch is as warm as the water cascading down over you, you feel a distinct chill up your spine as his hands work their way over each curve of your body.
your core is already pulsing with need by the time you feel his stiff cock pressing against your backside, silently asking for permission before he slides his length in between your plush thighs, gliding over your slit. You gasp as he catches your clit with the tip, hands flying to the wall for support.
your legs press together instinctively, breath falling heavy from your lips as he begins fucking your thighs. the water from the shower further lubricates you already slippery pussy, and you can feel the soft ridges of his veiny cock as it rubs back and forth between your folds, teasing against your entrance and driving you crazy.
the tile feels cool on your palms as you brace yourself against the wall, iwaizumi’s hands holding you firmly by the waist while he rolls his hips against yours at a faster and faster pace. the heated grunts and whimpers that echo through the hazy room are nearly drowned out by the white noise of the shower as the pleasure builds in your core, heat radiating off both your bodies amongst the steam.
when iwa suddenly grabs the removable showerhead to press it against your puffy clit, you don’t even have time to catch your breath before you’re cumming hard and fast with iwa’s name on your lips—and with the blushing head of his cock nestled right up against your sensitive bud, the streaming water quickly does your lover in as well. though the evidence of his release is washed away, the sound of his choked moans and shuddered breath are unmistakable as he cums between your legs with a few stuttering thrusts.
attempting to catch your breath, your knees buckle as iwaizumi loosens his grip, feeling lightheaded from the combination of the hot steam and the powerful climax you just rode out. he’s quick to catch your fall, letting you lean on him as he shuts off the water and helps you out of the shower.
after quickly drying himself off he gently towels down your body, mindful of your hazy state as the afterglow of your high fades into evening drowsiness. he gazes affectionately into your eyes when he dries off your hair. you stare back at him, glassy-eyed and in love, and he presses a soft kiss to your forehead before gathering your languid, sleepy body effortlessly into his arms to carry you off to bed.
as you nestle under the covers with your lover, finding solace in the way his warm, bare skin feels against yours, you glance over at the clock and notice the time. you wrack your brain for a moment trying to think of a wish, but give up before the minute even passes, surrendering your body to sleep instead.
settling into the cozy embrace surrounding you, a contented smile lingers on your lips. after all, how can you imagine anything else to wish for at 11:11 when you already have iwaizumi hajime right here in your arms?

24, 25 and 26 please!
thanks for the ask sophie my love 💛💛
24. which do you find yourself using, american or british english?
i unironically say y’all at least 13 times every day, sooo american english bc i am american 🇺 but i do adhd mirror british english if i’ve watched something with only only british actors in it but that wears off pretty quick
25. would you say you have good taste in music?
no 💛 but i enjoy what i listen to and who decides what is “good” anyway? who is the arbiter of taste? listening to music is about pleasure and the experience and what you gain from it personally and the memories you have tied to it or the memories you will create - when someone plays a song for you and you say “that’s bad” you’re not casting judgment on the music, you’re casting judgment on the person who felt they could share a part of themselves with you
sorry to get philosophical there, anyway here’s the greatest song ever recorded xx
26. how’s your spice tolerance?
not great! it’s gotten better over the years but i’m still the bitch that needs to blow her nose if things are too spicy and i always get honey bbq on my wings even if i could technically handle smth hotter
ask me some wildly specific questions xx

hmm for haikyuu i'd probably run into bokuto first ngl. because he's always out for bbq and meat and he's fairly loud i could probs spot that man a mile away. i wouldn't wanna run into daishou i'd probably just beef w him 👁👁
in jjk, realistically speaking the first person i'd run into is probably gojo. he sticks out like a sore thumb with that blind fold what would you expect??? i wouldn't want to meet uraume bc idk what if they're like "oh she's pretty she'll look good for sukuna-sama's human bitch soup" i know im a meal but don't rlly make me into one no thanks
in bnha, the first person i'd run into is todoroki because i will be LOOKING for my mans in that crowd. he so spicy i'll see that half n half typa hair as if it was a fashion disaster lookin eboy 💅🏼🤪 dont wanna see mineta i'd beat his ass and throw him in the garbage
Bokuto be down to take you out for some KBBQ probably. LOL just out of the blue? when you bump into Daishou you’re like “ugh no, not you”
Gojo is like 190 cm you can’t miss him. I haven’t met uraume yet, but I'll take your words for it. We’ll just stick with Gojo sensei for now
HAHAHAHA ngl Shoto would be the first person I try to look for too. NOT HIM BEING AN EBOY. He needs some nail polish. Yo you better be careful of Mineta, you know he got that ultra sense when it comes to pretty girls...don’t let him grape rush you
Which character do you want to run into the most and least?

2020 in books!
the only kind of new year’s resolution i made as a naive baby last january was to try to read 40 books for the year. (i read 37 in 2019, for context.) well, with all of my commuting time eliminated and an increased need for immersive escapism, i ended up surpassing that goal three times over lmao (thanks library ebooks!)
idk how to summarize my year in books in a way that makes sense but
(f) = fiction, (nf) = nonfiction, (p) = poetry.
books that rewired my fucking brain:
braiding sweetgrass by robin wall kimmerer (nf)- GOD?!?!?! good. dr. k is right. ostensibly a book about plants, but actually a book about shut up and go outside. consumerism and capitalism are doing their damnedest to fuck you up, but you can just choose to value different things. take care of yourself by taking care of your environment. etc etc.
wasp by richard jones (nf)- lissen. when i got this book, my wasp-phobia was so severe that i had to put it away face down on a high shelf because there are wasps on the cover and i couldn’t bear to RISK even GLIMPSING them. now i am like... a wasp evangelist. (also due to the bugs 101 course on coursera it’s so good.)
wag by zazie todd (nf)- i have a dog, but i am NOT a Dog Person (i.e. i love my dog, but please keep yours away from me, thanks.) this book helped me understand my little guy better, plus it gives actionable tasks and activities to do with and for your pup! plus, y’know, learning about things you’re scared of helps to lessen that fear. i’d recommend this to anyone who has, wants, or regularly interacts with a dog.
a closed and common orbit by becky chambers (f)- is this series complete fluff? absolutely. am i fundamentally different after reading this one? maybe.
the best we could do by thi bui (nf)- this is so far outside of my personal experience but somehow still made me come to peace with my relationship with my mom?? and it’s barely even about that?? idk. this is probably objectively the best book i’ve read this year.
books that were just fun as hell:
mexican gothic by silvia moreno-garcia (f)- this book made me YELL out loud
death on the nile by agatha christie (f)- i grew up on agatha christie shows, but never actually read her before this year! she really was That Bitch. read this before the movie comes out
cosmoknights by hannah templer (f)- i read this in one sitting through the worst headache i’ve had in years. it is a goddamn DELIGHT. this book has everything: spaceships. mech suits. fighting the patriarchy. a perfect otp. fun art in bright colors with clean lines. onomatopoetic WAPs from before the song gave that hilarious context. 800 lesbians. this is an antidepressant in graphic novel form.
stiff by mary roach (nf)- ms. roach is like the 4th most represented author on my bookshelf because she 1. stays writing about shit i’m interested in and 2. manages to talk about gross and ridiculous things without resorting to sensationalism. it takes skill to write a hilarious book about corpses.
black sun by rebecca roanhorse (f)- excellent sexual tension between a horny siren pirate and a hot doomed... monk, kinda? set in the pre-columbian gulf of mexico with magic and shit.
cuisine chinoise by zao dao (? n/f)- this graphic novel about chinese food history/mythology is BEAUTIFUL.
the color of magic by terry pratchett (f)- you’d think a hardcore douglas adams stan would have gotten to this sooner, but no, i had to date a nerdy white boy to get here. it’s fun though! i’m not gonna read them all, but this one was good. bonus: contains one (1) great himbo.
gideon the ninth by tamsyn muir (f)- like 500 pages of action and mystery and jokes and space necromancy. harrow the ninth gets a special mention bc it has a meme reference that took me out so hard i had to close the book, lie down, and groan for an entire minute before continuing.
other minds by peter godfrey-smith (nf)- i love octopuses. on one tma bonus ep, jonny sims says that if a creature can choose to do evil, then it’s a Person. octopuses are People. but anyway frfr this has an explanation of the evolution of consciousness that is cool af. (this one is much better than the other recent popsci octo book which i will not name out of politeness.)
the perfect predator by steffanie strathdee and thomas patterson (nf)- i read this bc my microbiology prof recommended it and it’s cool as heck! it’s got adventure, drama, mystery, Science-with-a-capital-S. i’m biased bc i’m a bit of a microbes nerd, but i had a blast with this. (but only bc we know going in that everything works out okay; if i hadn’t known that, i would have been TOO stressed!)
books that were a little less fun but still very readable:
my sister, the serial killer by oyinkan braithwaite (f)- i couldn’t find this as funny as other people bc i, too, have a beautiful sister who’s an insufferable narcissist, so it hits a little too close to home, but. it is a wild ride.
piranesi by susanna clarke (f)- idek what to say! i went into this one blind just bc it had a cool cover and title, so i guess i’d recommend that for other people too.
the sixth world series by rebecca roanhorse (f)- monster hunting! a post-apocalyptic take that doesn’t feel tired.
the shades of magic trilogy by v.e. schwab (f)- easy escapism. some ideas feel a little first draft-y, but idk, it’s also a pretty simple premise (which isn’t a bad thing). it’s a decent urban fantasy set in ~georgian?-era london. very actiony. suffers from a bit of i’m-not-like-other-girls disease, but i didn’t even notice until book two or three, so.
the only good indians by stephen graham jones (f)- starts off a little ??? (and reeks of being Written By A Man) but picks up. the pacing’s great and there’s just a super fucking cool monster.
robopocalypse by daniel h. wilson (f)- this reads like a tv miniseries so much that i can’t believe it isn’t one yet.
confessions of the fox by jordy rosenberg (f)- not my usual cup of tea, fiction-wise, but still compelling. a fresh take on the white-male-english-professor-self-insert? but not insufferable. gets weird!
spinning silver by naomi novik (f)- rumplestilstkin, but make it interesting! a great, richly-told fairy tale, but like, large scale. good to read on a cold day while you’re wrapped up in a blanket with some hot tea.
interior chinatown by charles yu (f)- compulsively readable. a couple things bugged me, but not enough to make me dislike it. a fun companion piece to how to live safely in a science fictional universe. i like this guy’s style.
cannibalism by bill schutt (nf)- COOL. mostly covers the animal kingdom (fun), spends too much time on the donner party (less fun), ends with a SPICY take on prions that i cannot get out of my head!!!
buzz, sting, bite by anne sverdrup-thygeson (nf)- BUGS! broad but not overwhelming, neither dumbed down nor overly scientific, short enough to finish in a day or two. recommend this to literally everyone.
books that made me want to read everything else in the author’s ouevre:
the time invariance of snow by e. lily yu (f)- this FUCKS but it’s too short!!!
an unkindness of ghosts by rivers solomon (f)- okay this book is SO good and so well-written and interesting and blah blah blah all the good things, but... the whole time, i was just like?? why???? why is this what you’re choosing to write about??? (i did also read the deep and blood is another word for hunger after this one, and i did like them both, especially the latter, but i think they can do better! like i think they could write a perfect book and i am gonna be *eyes emoji* until then.)
the space between worlds by micaiah johnson (f)- a fine debut novel, but i want to see her do something a little more... idk, refined? i think she overreaches here, like it’s a little... idk looper? this is how you lose the time war? there’s a better comparison, but i can’t think of it, but you get the idea. and then halfway through it shifts gears to mad max. there’s something weird about one of the central relationships, like it’s not complex enough to take as long to resolve as it does. idk idk. there are just a lot of little nitpicky things. it’s not bad! but i think she can do better and i look forward to finding out.
postcolonial love poem by natalie diaz (p)- thinky! like i tried to read this before bed, but it’s not the sort of thing to parse out while you’re falling asleep, it requires more attention than that.
books that Learned Me Somethin:
smoke gets in your eyes by caitlin doughty (nf)- i am a self-professed death obsessed weirdo, fascinated by death and mourning, but i didn’t know all that much about what happens to a body between the dying and the funeral! this book isn’t big, but it covers a lot and doughty’s writing style is engaging and honest. it’s very memorable.
queer by meg-john barker and julia scheele (nf)- i’m gonna be totally honest and say Queer Theory is above my intellectual pay grade, but this book takes you by the hand and explains the basics.
vitamania by catherine price (nf)- LMAO my fellow americans, never take a supplement. this book is great and well-researched, but normal folks don’t need to read it, just listen to season two of the dream podcast, which definitely cribbed from this.
vegetable kingdom by bryant terry (nf)- this is a fine cookbook, my favorite of his that i’ve read so far. gets a special mention bc i had a religious experience just reading one of his kohlrabi recipes. absolutely gutted that i didn’t have an opportunity to try it this year, since the pandemic put the kibosh on all family bbqs.
the best american food writing 2020 edited by j. kenji lopez-alt (nf)- this really is just a great collection.
are prisons obsolete? by angela y. davis (nf)- yes.
i moved to los angeles to work in animation by natalie nourigat (nf)- before reading this, i had basically zero knowledge of how the animation industry works. now i know like three things.
the secret lives of bats by merlin tuttle (nf)- BATS! okay this book is more about the adventures of being a bat scientist than it actually is about bats, but there are bats in there. insectivorous bats basically shit glitter, you should know this.
books from valuable perspectives:
hood feminism by mikki kendall (nf)- a breakdown of who’s getting left out of feminist spaces, why that’s happening, and why it shouldn’t be happening.
all you can ever know by nicole chung (nf)- a (transracial) adoptee’s take on adoption and learning more about her birth family. the personal storytelling of this one really stuck with me.
motherhood so white by nefertiti austin (nf)- a single-mom-by-choice’s take on the foster system/adoption process. walks you through some things i always wondered about and some things i wouldn’t even have thought about.
this place by kateri akiwenzie-damm et al (? n/f)- i, like a lot of non- native americans, only know that history in broad strokes. getting this many highly specific stories in one dense and beautiful book felt like a lucky find. and taking that perspective into the future in the context of that history is v good.
empty by susan burton (nf)- eating disorder stories are important to me bc i care about food so much. this one is so relatable- not in its specificity, but rather its generality. it’s easy to empathize with her perspective because it’s like, Oh, i don’t have that exact problem, but i struggle with different problems in a very similar way. (feels like the opposite of roxane gay’s hunger, in a way.)
obit by victoria chang (p)- this exploration of grief is... woof.
short story collections are hard to evaluate bc you’ll never read one where every single story hits but i generally enjoyed these:
a thousand beginnings and endings edited by ellen oh and elsie chapman (f)
how long til black future month? by n.k. jemisin (f)
her body and other parties by carmen maria machado (f)
books i revisited:
the broken earth trilogy by n.k. jemisin (f)- i read the series backwards this time and like... i can’t really find any faults in these books, man. they’re just the best.
everyone’s a aliebn when ur a aliebn too by jomny sun (f... but is it really?)- half of this book’s sales are from me buying it for other people bc it’s the only way i know how to say i love you. i reread it every time just to make sure it still feels right and it always does.
other honorable mentions:
white is for witching by helen oyeyemi (f)- not to pit two bad bitches against each other, but this book does what akwaeke emezi’s freshwater was trying to do. it’s a little weird, a little haunted, a little of a lot of things. read this only in the dead of winter. (and with stephen rennicks’ score for the little stranger playing in the background.)
homie by danez smith (p)- there’s a lot going on here, but this just made me crack a smile a couple times in a way that no other book of poetry has ever done.
the murder of roger ackroyd and murder in mesopotamia by agatha christie (f)- That Bitch!
blues by nikki giovanni (p)- she sure has some Things To Say
the three-body problem by cixin liu (f)- interesting concepts, but... idk something’s missing? felt weirdly soulless to me. i’m probably not gonna read the sequels. but it did make some points!
the sisters of the winter wood by rena rossner (f)- i’m a slut for shapeshifting, okay. but this is a good fairy tale, it works!
parable of the sower by octavia butler (f)- i read this in march, when the pandemic was just kicking off and boy that was not the right time. def my least favorite of hers so far, but an octavia butler i don’t love is still better than a hell of a lot of other books. no idea when or if i’ll get to a good enough headspace for the sequel.
faves:
saturnino herrán by adriana zapett tapia (nf)- i got to learn new things about my mans and see some of his paintings i’ve never even seen online! GOSH.
on food and cooking by harold mcgee (nf)- yeah yeah, i’ve already mentioned this book half a dozen times on here this year, but i don’t care. this book lives off the shelf in my home bc i reference it like every other fucking day. this book is a part of me now.

Do you prefer writing with black or Blue pens?
Black, though it doesn’t matter what color it is as long as it writes well. I don’t like pens that are too bright to see on paper though
Would you prefer to live in the country or the city?
I love city/downtown areas, because I love walking around in places with lots of activity but also places where I could retreat and have a bite. Though with every passing day I feel an insatiable desire to go off into a cottage in the woods and never speak to another human again
If you could learn a new skill, what would it be?
I’d want to learn how to socialize like a normal person tbh
Do you drink your tea or coffee with sugar?
Me me big hate coffee but when I do drink tea, usually I take it unsweetened
What was your favourite book as a child?
PJO!!! I remember my sister borrowed the first two from the library and I think I read them in the span of a day
Do you prefer baths or showers?
Showers, bc I always feel like I waste water/energy with hot baths whoops. And I can’t stand just laying there with nothing to do but sit in my own tub water and besides you have to clean the tub
I would really like to try a bath bomb though bc they look so nice
If you could be a mythical creature, which would you choose?
Siren, kitsune, just any kind of fae or demon that can mess with people
Do you prefer reading paper or electronic books?
dude i havent read anything in such a long time that wasnt an assignment but if I had to choose, probably paper. Fanfics are good too though
What is your favourite item of clothing?
My fave outfit NGNL shirt that I wear with dark red pants and flowery vans
Do you like your name? Would you ever change it?
It’s okay, sometimes I don’t feel like it suits me but idk what would. My pseud wouldn’t feel right as a real name either
this kind of reminds me of a NGNL character that bet her name away in a game, so now she exclusively goes by “Shrine Priestess” (bc that’s what she is)((tbh it had nothing to do with the question but well now you know)
Who is a mentor to you?
idk I don’t think I really have a singular mentor figure that I try to emulate, just a few people that I admire and try to replicate the things about them I like
Would you ever want to be famous? If so, what for?
I’d want to be that lady down the block that bakes and lets you pet her cats and offers safe places for the local teens
Are you a restless sleeper?
I wake up to other people’s alarms a room over, so I’m a decently light sleeper
Do you consider yourself a romantic?
I’d say more of an idealist? Because even though I can get discouraged by things easily I still try to hold out for better things to come
Which element best represents you?
I remember answering this at one point, and I said then a mixture of water and earth. So mud. I’m mud
Who do you want to be closer to?
The people I’ve chatted with during the summer
Do you miss someone at the moment?
^^^those people
Tell us about an early childhood memory.
I cried at everything does that count
What is the strangest thing you have eaten?
Roast duck from asian bbq is pretty good. Not weird, just that I know many people have eaten it
What can you see outside your bedroom window?
Patio, grass, fences, the occasional bunny
What are you most thankful for?
My friends
Do you like spicy food?
I hate it so much but yet I like eating spicy kimchi ramen just because I like the texture of instant ramen noodles for some godforsaken reason
Have you ever met someone famous?
Nope, people like hollywood stars/people you usually think of when you hear ‘celebrity’ don’t really interest me? not to be a hipster LOL but I find them hard to keep track of so I just haven't
Do you keep a diary or journal?
Somehow I’m just very bad at maintaining a set routine for everything, this includes keeping personal logs (or logs of anything)
Do you prefer to use pen or pencil?
Mechanical pencil, but not the kind that squeaks when it writes. I tend to write very fast and messily so while I like the way pen looks, it gets a little chaotic
What is your star sign?
Taurus
Do you like your cereal crunchy or soggy?
On the soggier side, because I hate it when things are too crunchy and scrapes the inside of my mouth
What would you want your legacy to be?
I just want to be a kind person that’s important to my little circle of people
Do you like reading? What was the last thing you read?
I do but I don’t ever read fdsadfjk I used to be such a bookworm
Last time I read was last night, trying to stop procrastinating on my summer AP lit reading (fences and kite runner0
How do you show someone you love them?
you could just be hanging around and minding your own business and suddenly I’m there, and I try to gift you things. but I struggle between wanting all your attention and wanting you to be able to interact with whom you please
Do you like ice in your drinks?
it can be winter and I will still drink ice water
What are you afraid of?
anything with an exoskeleton
What is your favourite scent?
I just love fresh and clean scents, especially fruit ones
Do you address older people by their first or last name?
tbh I don’t really... talk with older people often? i dont get out much ahaha
If money was not a factor, how would you live your life?
Just enough for me, pets, maybe another close person
Do you prefer swimming in pools or in the ocean?
I don’t think I’ve swam in an ocean, but I have in a lake and while it’s pretty I just prefer pools
What would you do if you found $50 on the ground?
If it’s in a building, then I’d probably hand it to a receptionist, some equivalent, but if it’s outside then I’d probably just take it
Have you ever seen a shooting star? Did you make a wish?
I haven’t, stupid urban light pollution
If you had to have a tattoo, what would it be and where would you get it?
I actually do want tattoos! I’d want minimalist designs of like flowers and stars and such and I’d want them behind my ears, on my stomach and thighs (places that are usually covered up)
What is one thing you would want to teach your children?
erm I don’t really wanna have young kids bc I feel like I’d screw up somehow but if I could be a mentor figure to older kids then I’d say not to be too hard on themselves, land to look out for themselves and others
Where do you feel the safest?
At home, preferably alone
What can you hear right now?
I’m listening to music but I can hear the occasional airplane flying over
What is one thing you want to overcome/conquer?
idk exactly but I hope I can be independent and self-sufficient in the future
What is your most used emoji?
A combo of the sparkles, the two hearts, stars
If you could travel back to any era, which would you choose?
I don’t like the idea of going into the past bc so many aspects/things that are important to me aren’t always well-received now, let alone in the past
What is your favourite season? Why?
Autumn, because I like cool weather and layering clothes, though I like when plants flourish in the spring. Also, the insects die in the cold so I’m cool with that
Invent your own word. What does it mean?
????? as much as I love linguistics I just can’t think of one
How would you spend your ideal day?
At the local downtown area, maybe alone or with a friend, just unhurriedly walking outside the shops. Then go home and just chill
Describe yourself using one word.
Ohworm?
What do you regret the most?
Spending my summer either working or doing nothing whoops

For the OC ask: Grimm 1-20
THIS IS SO LATE IM SO SORRY
1: What’s your OCs favorite color?
purple!! his eyes are purple and so were his mom’s and he always LOVED it.
2: Where does your OC work?
he works in a tattoo shop !! he doesn’t so much come up with designs, he just does the actual tattooing. occasionally he does designs for people if they’re not too complicated and don’t require too much thought. but he’s not good with that kind of thing so he mostly just does the actual tracing of the art with the needle into their skin. he also plays guitar on the streets sometimes for money!
3: What’s your OCs favorite food?
grimm rly likes anything spicy??? honestly probably nachos he could live off of those
4: Does your OC prefer paper or plastic?
he wishes he were a good enough person to ask for paper but plastic bags are just so much easier to carry. he probably starts getting paper bags after meeting kyn tho
5: How old is your OC?
well right now he’s like 30? in the beginning of mine and issac’s canon roleplay he’s 27 tho !
6: Does your OC have any supernatural powers?
yep! his mom was a purely magical being (her parents were two gay wizards who couldn’t have a child so they literally conjured her up with magic) and she had two kids, calik (grimm’s older bro) being her partner xavier’s bio son, and grimm being her partner simon’s son. (her and xavier and simon were a poly thing.) both simon and xavier were fully human, so grimm and calik came out as half human half magic. the magic they specialize (well, in calik’s case, specialized) in is transformation magic. they can also mix the occasional potion. and grimm also has uh. some demons livin in his head. literally. long story. if u wanna hear about it hmu it’s p interesting.
7: Is your OC in a relationship?
yes!! he meets kynareth mahfaeraak fanacasecul when he’s 27 and kyn is 25 and eventually they get married!
8: What are some of your OCs strengths?
kyn and the rest of the homo gang, he’s understanding of mental illness, great with magic, imaginative, loyal, emotional
9: What are some of your OCs weaknesses?
kyn and the rest of the homo gang, moody, pessimistic, insecure, can be manipulative sometimes but will usually realize it himself and owns up to it
10: What is your OCs favorite outfit?
skinny jeans that are like a size too big so they’re a lil baggy, douchebag muscle tank or a comfy sweater depending on the season, a beanie, converse (he is so GODDAMN hipster it hurts sometimes but it’s better than how he used to be when i first made him-- super fuckin goth and edgy jfc)
11: What animal does your OC relate to?
sloths probably
12: Is your OC sexually active?
ohoho yes definitely. kyn has hip problems bc of this man
13: What is your OCs earliest memory?
coming out to his family as trans when he was like three or four!
14: Does your OC have a cell phone? If so, what kind?
he has an android. he hates apple lmfao.
15: What makes your OC angry?
people criticising his mom, people pressuring him to tell them stuff about his personal life, people blatantly flirting with kyn in front of him, people being dicks to his friends, racism, sexism, queerphobia, ableism, just bigotry in general
16: When is your OCs favorite time of year?
october 1st - december 25th
17: How long can your OC hold their breath?
idk like a minute
18: What kind of underwear does your OC wear?
boxer shorts when he’s going to bed in the summer (in the winter when he’s going to bed he just wears sweatpants and nothing underneath), boxer briefs under pants in general
19: Does your OC prefer plaid or polka dots?
plaid definitely
20: What’s your OCs favorite kind of pizza?
bbq chicken!

Always Cravin’ Pit BBQ Mobile / Pop Up • 979-204-6222
Always Cravin’ Pit BBQ doesn’t do chopped brisket. Sorry! We do chunks of sliced brisket arranged deliciously on a Hawaiian bun with a touch of their homemade sauce with pickles and onions if you’d like. Come and get you some. They can often be found at New Republic Brewing Company in College Station and Home Sweet Farm in Brenham.
Blue Moon BBQ 18746 Old San Antonio Rd., Hearne, TX • 979-549-4800
Brisket, sausage, and ribs at Blue Moon BBQ. Image by Matt Moon.
Blue Moon BBQ has been serving the Best BBQ on the OSR since 2007! Come visit Rick, Toni, and Matt Moon weekly Wednesday 11-3 Thur-Sat 11-7 and Sun 11-3 for your BBQ guilt trip! Blue Moon is a Texas Monthly Top 50 ‘cue joint worth the drive out to the middle of nowhere. The middle of nowhere is usually somewhere special when you’re in the beautiful Brazos Valley. Only thing that can make one feel more Texan than a drive down OSR on a crisp, sunny day is the smell of smoked meats wafting your way.
BBQ 13-0 at Northgate Church Street & College Main, Northgate (Lunch Only)
Meatloaf sandwich at BBQ 13-0. Recipe by famed local chef Peter Madden.
13-O BBQ at Northgate is not your typical Texas ‘cue joint. But different is by no means deficient. 13-0 doesn’t do your typical 3 meat plates with 2 sides. They focus on sandwiches. Huge, saucy, perfectly flavor-balanced, sandwiches. The sandwich menu was authored by Peter Madden of Mad Taco and Madden’s fame…and tastes like it! I had the Meatloaf Sandwich and my friend had the Chopped Beef. I ate all of mine because it was so good. My buddy enjoyed his, but had half the sandwich to take home. Big sandwiches!
C & J Barbeque 4304 Harvey Rd., College Station (Original Store) • 979-776-8969 105 Southwest Parkway, College Station, TX • 979-696-7900 1010 South Texas Ave., Bryan, TX • 979-822-6033
Brisket, ribs, sausage, chicken and BBQ beans by C&J BBQ. Image courtesy of C&J.
The story of how C & J Barbeque got started is interesting. In 1981, Chip and Jo Manning bought a convenience store down on Harvey Road near Highway 30. Chip sold gas, cigarettes, beer, and soda. He also put in a barbeque pit. At the start, Chip sold an average of 20 pounds of meat per day. People started coming by for gas and a sandwich. The food started to get more and more popular. Now they have three locations, a banquet facility, and a catering operation that can feed tens of thousands anywhere in Texas.
DBQ Barbecue & Catering 123 Walton Dr., College Station, TX • 512-925-6909
DBQ Owner Derke Barre sits atop his B/CS famous smoke-wagon, DBQ BBQ, usually parked across from campus at Eastgate. Photo by DBQ BBQ.
Love Love Love DBQ BBQ (formerly Lew’s BBQ…same owner) in the Smokin’ (literally smokin’…there’s a bqq pit on board) Red Trailer at Eastgate! Had the pulled pork taco, brisket and sausage and it was all divine! Love that the young entrepreneur who runs the place gives 10% of profits back to the community and builds awareness of the community organizations he’s supporting in the process. He’s open daily for lunch on weekdays at Eastgate across from A&M and his big red bbq trailer can be found at local events too.
Fargo’s BBQ 1701 S. Texas Avenue • 979-778-3662
Brisket, sausage, beans, potato salad, and slaw at Fargo’s BBQ in Bryan, Texas. Image eaten by David Flash.
Fargo’s Pit BBQ recently moved South on Texas Avenue in Bryan, again, to the former Barnhill’s Buffet location. Fargo’s is a well known local establishment that has also gained statewide recognition as one of Texas Monthly’s Top 50 BBQ joints in the state. Despite the new digs, Fargo’s brisket, sausage and sides lived up to their reputation on our recent visit. The brisket was perfectly cooked with a flavorful rub creating a nice outer shell that sealed in all the good juices, making it moist and tender. There was a “different” quality about the sauce I couldn’t put my finger on…maybe a touch more vinegar than typical…not sure…but it was goooooood!
The Firebox Grill 112 Eloise St., Caldwell, TX
Ribs, brisket, and indulgent sides are making good bull about The Firebox Grill spread like wildfire.
Good Bull BBQ 326 George Bush Dr., College Station, TX
Masterfully smoked meats in the shadow of Kyle Field! Now that’s Good Bull.
Former Yell Leader Roy May and crew started Good Bull BBQ because they love barbecue and we want to change the world! Now you can too! They provide a meal for the less fortunate for every meal they sell. Feed yourself, feed the world, now that’s GOOD BULL!
J. Cody’s Steaks & BBQ 3610 S. College Ave., Bryan, TX • 979-846-2639
J. Cody’s is well known locally for their steaks and barbeque.
J. Cody’s Steaks and Barbeque Restaurant in Bryan/College Station, Texas is a little different than most steak and BBQ eateries. Most great steak and barbeque places are well known for either serving great steaks or great barbeque but not both. J. Cody’s serves both tender juicy steaks and mouth watering smoked barbeque.

If you’re wondering what the full parking lot morning, noon and night at Lee’s Landing on Cameron Avenue in Rockdale is all about, we can tell you… It’s about great food! The Milam County Times recently stopped in for dinner. The 3 meat barbecue plate with brisket, ribs, and sausage with sides of beans and potato salad were exemplary! They knocked it out of the park! The service and atmosphere were excellent as well. They have a really nice outdoor patio space and a tasteful Texas and Milam County decor theme throughout.

Smokin’ Oak Bar B Que 227 E. Avenue C, Milano, TX
The brisket is smoked in a pit out back and is perfectly moist. Melted in my mouth. The sauce is a little sweet, but it has a nice kick and I loved it. The sausage, made by local company in Caldwell, was perfectly flavorful and spicy. Perfectly prepared and fresh, not dried out because it was the end of the day. They seem like one of the busier places on Highway 79 and the menu is very simple, so the food is likely fresh daily. Tasted like it. If you’re on the road to Rockdale, make a “pit stop” in Milano, TX. Your belly will be glad you did.
Snow’s BBQ 516 N. Main St., Lexington, TX
Snow’s BBQ is only open on Saturdays. We arrived at 6:40 in the morning and were around 30th in line. By the time they opened at 8am, we couldn’t see the back of the line. We were told they sell around 1500 lbs of brisket alone every Saturday. We could taste why! The brisket and sausage alone are worth braving the line. There’s usually a free keg going in the line too, so the wait isn’t all bad.

REVIEWING: The Habit
IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT THE HABIT OR BURGERS OR FOOD OPINIONS SKIP THIS B/C ITS HELLAAAA LONG ILL SEE YOU AT THE NEXT TIME OK BYE ~ Okay so this review of the Habit was inspired solely because I found out that if you sign up for the Habits email rewards service that you get a free char burger scan code in your inbox. So thus, with that information, this review was born. I have been registering all of my email accounts under different names and I’ve been going to different Habits every single time throughout Santa Clarita and the San Fernando Valley. I am determined to try every single char burger on the menu, which shouldn’t be too hard since they have only 4 different types of char burgers on the menu. There is the teriyaki burger, the grilled onion portabella burger, the Santa Barbara burger and the BBQ bacon burger. So without further ado here is my review of each burger, that was brought to you by my finessing abilities. March 19th 2018 The Teriyaki burger. It is only JUSTICE! to review this burger first. I love the concept of having grilled pineapple on my burger. It makes it sweet, tangy, citrusy and it adds a delicious scent to it. A lot of the times when you go buy tacos al pastor you can see that they cook the meat with grilled pineapple. This gives the meat a juicy sweet flavor that is unmatched. It is different than orange infused meats or lemon infused meats. Pineapples are a happy medium that give meat a tangy, sweet flavor. It was after calc that I decided to get this burger. I saw on Facebook that The Habit was giving away free burgers to people who signed up to their char burger email list. I pounced. If it’s free it’s for me, and I would love to try all of their burgers on their dime. So when I went to the Habit near my house I was surprised that I had to pay 33 cents because I thought I got a free burger. No honey, I got a free char burger with cheese, the basic normal one, if you want an upgrade you have to pay the difference. But that’s okay, I went to my car and grabbed 33 cents from my change compartment and ran back to get my teriyaki burger. Let me tell you it is delicious, you can’t go wrong with pineapple meats. They give you a whole circle wedge of grilled pineapple which by the way is the best and the meat is so juicy and moist. It was fully cooked and it had caramelized onions which are the WAY TO GO! Caramelized onions that are grilled to perfection soak up the juices/fat of the meat and deliver you flavor. The pickles are good but In-N-Out’s pickles are better. The mayo is a must on sandwiches and I am glad to see that it is on the teriyaki burger. Side note: vegan mayo is just as good and is tbh much healthier and is a great substitute if you want to cut out an egg product in your life. The buns on this burger were good and fresh. It was a good burger. But that teriyaki sauce was atrocious, I tried to ignore it but it was bothering me too much which is weird because the first and second time I ordered a teriyaki burger I loved the sauce. This time it felt fake and too sweet, it was too much with the pineapple, maybe if they cut the sweetness of the sauce it would be better. But as for now, the teriyaki burger from the Habit is my go to whenever I visit that joint and until next time peace out mis amigos :)   March 21st 2018 The Grilled Onion Portabella Char Burger. I went to the Habit near my school and I ordered a portabella char burger. I was thinking about getting the bacon one but I felt like the portabella was a healthier option and I wanted to try their aioli sauce. The burger was just a burger. The meat though was fantastic, it was warm and juicy. It was thick. And the mushrooms were just mushrooms. I used to be obsessed and in love with grilled mushrooms and I would want them on my steak, on my burgers, in my tacos. I wanted them everywhere but now as an adult I’m not really into them. I don’t think they are disgusting but I don’t savor them as much as I used to. They are kinda bland and they only taste bomb when they are grilled or hidden in soup. But even on this grilled burger, these mushrooms were just mushrooms. Nothing special. The burger had a delicious bun that is characteristic of the Habit and their tomatoes were fresh and I like the way they cut their lettuce. Very different from In-N-Out which gives you giant wedge slices of lettuce so much so that sometimes you have to eat a part of the lettuce first before you take a bite into your burger or else your first bite is going to be 20% burger and 80% iceberg lettuce. The Habit chops up their lettuce, making it easier to eat and more organized and more appealing. I like the lettuce chopped up like that thank you very much. Now for the best part of the portobello burger: the AIOLI SAUCE. DELICIOUS AF. The only reason I would order this burger ever again would be to taste that delicious sauce. It was white with things inside of it, tbh I couldn’t get a good look at it I was too busy chomping down on my burger. I loved the sauce so much that I licked it up off the wrapper with my finger. I loved this sauce. My go to Habit burger is the Teriyaki burger and if I had to choose one burger out of the ones that I have tried so far: The Teriyaki burger or the Portobello burger, I would still choose the Teriyaki burger but hands down the Portobello has the better sauce of the two. I would order the Teriyaki and get the aioli sauce on the side. Also the very nice cashier was such a sweetheart to me, I wanted to be her friend. She let me have a free drink :) (I filled it up with half Sprite half water). So to wrap up today's trip to the Habit, the Portobello burger is Veronica approved because of the sauce. If you are indifferent about mushrooms and don’t care for aioli sauce then skip this burger but if you are curious then try this. The mushrooms were just mushrooms, they could have done them better. Maybe if they cooked the mushrooms WITH the hamburger meat and let it soak up the juices and let it become charred with the burger and maybe added something spicy it would be bomb. BOMB. run me my check @theHabit, I just gave y’all a winning idea. (Also: when I was eating my burger I ordered it “for here” and I was eating my burger and reading up on the ingredients on the Habits website and one of the employees got really close to me and I instantly shifted my phone away from them because I felt embarrassed and didn’t want the employee to see that I was checking up on them on their website….OOPS ) Btw the difference I paid was 94 cents. March 23rd 2018 The Santa Barbara Char Burger. There was a lot of anticipation and hype behind this burger. I searched up photos of this delicious looking snack online and it looked massive. The burger itself looked like a whole meal, there seemed to be a substantial amount of guac and the sourdough bread looked fresh and toasted at the same time. I took my brother out to get a burger as well, he got the regular ol’ char burger with cheese and his complaint was that there was not enough mayo and that the burger tasted better without the pickles. My sister didn’t get anything and just napped when we were there. The Santa Barbara Char burger was everything that I expected. The guac was amazing, it had chunks of avocado which I loved and it was a hefty amount of guac that was spread out evenly which I appreciated. There's nothing more annoying than pay extra for guac and getting a tiny little spoonful, this was the opposite, the Habit was generous with its guac. (Actually I’m not sure if you could call this a guac, it was just mashed up avocado chunks, it’s not the guac you would imagine with chopped tomatoes and onions etc.) The tomatoes were delicious and sweet and the lettuce was shredded and the burger came with two hamburger patties and two slices of cheese. The patties were thick and juicy, they retained their moisture and were grilled. The burger also had grilled onions, which could have been better. I feel like the Habit serves you grilled onions that they have pre grilled, so when you eat your burger your grilled onions are disappointingly cold. Anyways the SB burger comes with 2 slices of cheese and 2 patties, a good amount of avocado, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and grilled onions all on toasted sourdough bread. The sourdough bread makes this burger unique. It gave it a lighter taste to the burger and it was delicious, it was perfect. The sourdough bread is what makes this special, it also looks more like a sandwich than an actual burger. The sourdough bread is perfect on this. This was a messy burger and it was a lot so it will definitely fill you up. I had to take half of it to-go. You can add jalapeños from the bar to this and ask for the aioli sauce (on the side if you haven’t tried it before) if you want to be extra. It's a good, fulfilling burger that was definitely worth it and I would get it again. However, can it be better? Yes, yes it can be. Now is it better than the teriyaki burger? Maybe, it's definitely in that realm bc I’m in love with grilled pineapple but I love the complexity of this burger and plus its a lot more burger. However that being said I might have just found my new go to Habit char burger. :) - NONE OTHER THAN, YOU MAJESTY, VERONICA

Lee’s Landing 313 West Cameron St., Rockdale, TX
If you’re wondering what the full parking lot morning, noon and night at Lee’s Landing on Cameron Avenue in Rockdale is all about, we can tell you… It’s about great food! The Milam County Times recently stopped in for dinner. The 3 meat barbecue plate with brisket, ribs, and sausage with sides of beans and potato salad were exemplary! They knocked it out of the park! The service and atmosphere were excellent as well. They have a really nice outdoor patio space and a tasteful Texas and Milam County decor theme throughout.

Mallett Brothers Barbeque is a Family Owned and Operated business serving Grimes, Brazos, Waller, Washington, Robertson and surrounding counties. Chad Mallett, Aggie Class of ’94, and brother Greg Mallett perfected their love of cooking at family gatherings and parties and after years of hard work (and a little fun too!) a long time dream came true and Mallett Brother’s Barbeque was opened. They now serve mouthwatering barbeque to hundreds of folks each week and have been told that they have the best barbeque anyone has ever eaten, especially the ribs!

Oak Smoked Brisket from Rudy’s. Get whole briskets for pick-up or shipped anywhere.
Rudy’s “Country Store” and Bar-B-Q is a popular Texas BBQ chain. Known for consistent quality, fast service, tasty sides, and a sauce that’s BOSS!

Kreuz Market – Bryan 768 North Earl Rudder Fwy., Bryan, TX • 979-704-6147
Brisket, sausage, and the famous German potato salad at Kreuz Market.

The chopped beef sandwiches at Martin’s Place are off the hook! They are the longest continuously operating restaurant in Bryan-College Station.
Martin’s Place has been serving Real Brick Pit BBQ Since 1925.
Matus Pit BBQ Buck and Hill St., Downtown Caldwell • 979-567-3666
Only open on weekends, Matus Pit BBQ is well worth the countryside drive to Caldwell for many Brazos Valley residents.
Mallett Brothers Barbeque 9339 State Hwy. 6, Navasota, TX • 979-825-9440 + 7247 Main St., Iola, TX

Rudy’s “Country Store” and Bar-B-Q 504 Harvey Road, College Station, TX
Oak Smoked Brisket from Rudy’s. Get whole briskets for pick-up or shipped anywhere.
Rudy’s “Country Store” and Bar-B-Q is a popular Texas BBQ chain. Known for consistent quality, fast service, tasty sides, and a sauce that’s BOSS!
