John Watson stuck in a timeloop, but the day is the day of the fall.

ok ok my initial reaction to this was "how fucking dare you 💔" but as a fellow writer.. this is a really good idea actually?? I mean, imagine him trying to save Sherlock, over and over again, but it never works. He thinks it's his own failure, but it's really Sherlock and Mycroft's contingency plans, one step ahead every single time.

And maybe John never manages to prevent the fall. But maybe he doesn't need to. Maybe he can only escape the timeloop once he finds out the truth about Sherlock's plan. Picture it: after enduring god-knows-how-many loops, he finally discovers that it was all a trick. That Sherlock somehow knew this would happen, and he escaped. John is stunned and angry and confused but above all else he's so, so relieved. And now that he knows the truth, something feels.. different. Like he's been freed. So he resumes his role in this fucked-up performance one last time. He lets it play out exactly as it was supposed to play out all along.

He knows Sherlock survived, but it still makes him feel sick to hear the body hit the pavement. He knows Sherlock survived, but he still cries himself to sleep in the silence of 221B that night. And when he wakes up, it's a new day. He's almost forgotten what that feels like.

He knows Sherlock survived, but John still misses him desperately. What he doesn't know is that Sherlock will be back in two years- he doesn't know if Sherlock will ever be back, and time seems to pass slower when the absence doesn't have an end date. But this time, at least he has hope. Maybe this time.. he'll wait.

Is Shadow okay?!?!? He didn't get knocked out right?! He's usually tougher than that but it doesn't matter how well you can swim if you're knocked out in a pool. 😱

*Shadow blinks furiously, holding what bit of breath he has as he recovers from the punch. Thankfully, it only stunned him. He starts to swim up, but a blue body crashes into him right before he reaches the surface. He grunts as Sonic grabs him and tries to pull him upward, only managing to fight his own safety jacket in the process, dragging them both further down. Shadow grabs his face and kisses him, pushing the last bit of his air into Sonic's lungs. He grabs his hand and swims up, taking Sonic with him. They breach the surface, both gasping for air. Sonic bobs a bit as his life jacket keeps him afloat*

... Woah.. you saved me! I was gonna save you!

You're an idiot. You can't swim, dumbass, what were you thinking??

I... I was gonna-

I don't wanna hear it. Never do that again. Promise me.

... I promise..

Good. Now get out there and fight. *He pushes Sonic out of the water and gets out himself, even angrier than before as he glares at the oncoming threat*

Hey Red 40 Highlights!! *Shadow looks over at Bean, who's juggling dynamite* Catch!! Wooo! *He tosses one of the sticks of dynamite at him, the fuse aflame. Shadow grabs it, holding Bean's eye contact as he drops it in the pool*

Bad choice for a water fight, kid. Dynamite doesn't work when it's wet. *He starts stalking toward him. He's fought kids younger than this and with twice the brain power. Namely Tails. This should be no problem. Bean yelps and starts backing away*

*Sonic is running circles around Bark, who's looking around trying to find a target* Haha!! Not so fast, are ya big guy?? Whatcha gonna do now?? I'm the fastest thing on the- OOF-

*Bark had just put an arm out in the middle of Sonic's path, catching him in the stomach. He picks up the squirming hedgehog, squeezing him*

Aaack!! Lemme go!! *Sonic tries to spin dash, but he can't move. Bark lifts him over his head and throws him against the wall of the house. Rouge flies over, worried*

Are you okay, handsome??

I'm fine.. *Sonic winces as he pushes himself to his feet* Stay out of it, please.. it's gotta be a fair fight..

... I'm here if you need backup. It doesn't have to be fair. They're trespassing.

... Thanks, Rouge.. *he coughs and gets to his feet, shaking it off* Okay. *He runs back into the fray*

Fun fact: my thoughts on wor Prompto are certainly not all my own, this fandom is full of wonderful artists and writers who have helped shape the way I imagine him during those times (square slept on that one😝)

As for year 1 I think Prompto was very LOST. And while I believe he is ultimately an optimist I think it took him a while to get back to that. Seriously the back to back events leading up to Noctis being crystal snacks would have been traumatic to the best of us, and then he gets thrown right into ultimate survival mode. He was reckless, despondent and figured nothing mattered (especially himself) So he throws himself into danger without backup and nearly gets himself killed many times over.

In years ??? he is more solid in his place in the ruined world, works more often with Gladio and Ignis, although he is much more short tempered and willing to walk away when they worry to much. Everyone is just going through the motions. But he still can access the armiger, and that one mechanical motion is what grounds him and gives him that small spark of hope to hold on.
