Alright uninformed rant time. It kind of bugs me that, when studying the Middle Ages, specifically in western Europe, it doesn’t seem to be a pre-requisite that you have to take some kind of “Basics of Mediaeval Catholic Doctrine in Everyday Practise” class. 

Obviously you can’t cover everything- we don’t necessarily need to understand the ins and outs of obscure theological arguments (just as your average mediaeval churchgoer probably didn’t need to), or the inner workings of the Great Schism(s), nor how apparently simple theological disputes could be influenced by political and social factors, and of course the Official Line From The Vatican has changed over the centuries (which is why I’ve seen even modern Catholics getting mixed up about something that happened eight centuries ago). And naturally there are going to be misconceptions no matter how much you try to clarify things for people, and regional/class/temporal variations on how people’s actual everyday beliefs were influenced by the church’s rules. 

But it would help if historians studying the Middle Ages, especially western Christendom, were all given a broadly similar training in a) what the official doctrine was at various points on certain important issues and b) how this might translate to what the average layman believed. Because it feels like you’re supposed to pick that up as you go along and even where there are books on the subject they’re not always entirely reliable either (for example, people citing books about how things worked specifically in England to apply to the whole of Europe) and you can’t ask a book a question if you’re confused about any particular point. 

I mean I don’t expect to be spoonfed but somehow I don’t think that I’m supposed to accumulate a half-assed religious education from, say, a 15th century nobleman who was probably more interested in translating chivalric romances and rebelling against the Crown than religion; an angry 16th century Protestant; a 12th century nun from some forgotten valley in the Alps; some footnotes spread out over half a dozen modern political histories of Scotland; and an episode of ‘In Our Time’ from 2009. 

But equally if you’re not a specialist in church history or theology, I’m not sure that it’s necessary to probe the murky depths of every minor theological point ever, and once you’ve started where does it end? 

Anyway this entirely uninformed rant brought to you by my encounter with a sixteenth century bishop who was supposedly writing a completely orthodox book to re-evangelise his flock and tempt them away from Protestantism, but who described the baptismal rite in a way that sounds decidedly sketchy, if not heretical. And rather than being able to engage with the text properly and get what I needed from it, I was instead left sitting there like:

Hey you're super knowledgeable about Broadway stuff, so I have an ask if you don't mind :) Mean Girls on BW is closing. Lot of theatre news sites are saying this is "due to the pandemic shutdown". I'm just a little confused as to how the shutdown could close a hit show that would probably still sell lots of tickets when things reopen. Are shows still having to pay rent on the theatres or something?

I’ve done nothing but discuss this five days a week every week since March 2020 because my entire job is working with Broadway shows getting ready to / trying to plan to return to performances. I was going to have this be a top-level view but I think it’s necessary to understand just how the gears of Broadway work to answer this question. So I encourage you to read.

Shows cost money to run each week (when Broadway is running). For argument’s sake, let’s estimate Mean Girls’ weekly cost is about $750,000.

To be profitable, they have to bring in MORE THAN $750,000 per week in ticket sales long enough to make up the millions of dollars it cost to create the show, called “capitalization.” So, if they made $1,000,000 per week in ticket sales and it cost $750,000 to operate, they were paying off their capitalization, basically debt back to the producers who gave money to make the show happen, at a rate of $250,000 per week. I don’t know what their capitalization was, but it was probably at least $15 million. It would take FIVE YEARS to pay that back.

Mean Girls paid their capitalization back, called “recouping,” in about three years, which is pretty good! For what it’s worth, roughly 80% of shows NEVER recoup and are considered financial failures. They were able to pay it back more quickly because their ticket sales were so strong, north of $1,000,000/week for a long time, say, basically 2.5 of the 3 years it ran on Broadway.

In the last six months or so before the shutdown in March 2020, the shows sales had been slipping. Tickets were discounted heavily to almost every performance and it wasn’t finding renewed life. This means ticket revenue went down, down, down until, as of March 9, 2020, it made $775,000 of the possible $1,100,000 they could make if they sold every seat at full price. You said it sold “lots” of tickets, but they were only selling about 65% of what they could (in March 2020).

That doesn’t seem like a big difference, but if the running cost is $750,000 (it is perhaps higher), that means the profit is only $25,000 per week.

Once a show starts to barely break even, and eventually lose money just by performing, producers decide it’s time to close the show because it’s no longer profitable, and the entire reason producers want to make money on Broadway shows is so they can reinvest it into more new Broadway shows.

Then, to compound things, NO Broadway show has what is called an “advance,” which are future ticket sales, basically a piggy bank of money they know they’ll have to be able to spend on more performances. This is a huge challenge for even the most successful shows who recouped decades ago (think: The Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King, and Wicked). Every show has a huge financial burden to overcome to reopen because they immediately have NOTHING in savings to pay the cast, crew, theater, etc. So, producers will have to invest new money, and then it has to be repaid, etc. Shows like Phantom and Wicked will survive because of who the producers are and the guaranteed selling power, as the shows were heavily sold year-round for a decade (or three, in Phantom’s case). Shows like Frozen and Mean Girls, which were already on the decline before the pandemic, just don’t have the momentum to restart from zero.

Not to mention, the nature of Broadway theater is to pack 1,100 people into a tiny room with zero room to breathe, charge $300 per seat in order to pay the people who make the show a living wage, and BARELY turn a profit. The reality in our COVID world is that it is not financially smart to try to run a Broadway show with things like social distancing, because you cannot afford to put on a show that costs $750,000 per week when you can only sell 400 seats for $120,000 per week (if you can even get 400 people to pay $300 for a ticket after the economic stress of the past year). They’d be losing $630,000 per week indefinitely. That’s financial lunacy for ANYONE to do that, without majorly deep pockets and a guaranteed path out of debt.

So, if that was tl;dr: it wasn’t making enough money and is too big a hill to climb when things reopen. It’s very likely other shows will also not return, and as sad as that is, I promise you there are that many more NEW shows waiting for their turn. There are only 41 Broadway theaters, so some must close to allow new ones in (if Groundhog Day hadn’t closed, Mean Girls wouldn’t have been able to happen!). All closures are bittersweet because we love these shows, and we hate to see people lose their jobs, etc., but it is, to quote Disney’s The Lion King on Broadway, the circle of life.

p.s. Yes, I believe shows are having to pay rent, and with forced shutdowns by the city, they were, I believe, able to collect insurance payments to help with this but it varies based on their insurance policies, etc etc etc.

And finally, here we are, Episode 36 of Word of Honor, and I have some FEELINGS. Let me show you them.

There also will be Episode 37 here, btw, because I’m not gonna do a separate reaction for a three-minute episode, no matter how grateful I am that we got it.

(Spoilers, so if that’s not what you want right now, scroll on by and come back after you’ve watched it. Them.)

Let’s get to the meat of the episode right away: THE HAIRPIN. And Wen Kexing knowing Zhou Zishu would have it, because he’d definitely take it with him if he was going on a suicide mission! Y’all. I really have to yell about this for a minute: That’s how secure WKX has become in his knowledge of what he means to ZZS! After all that time angsting and hiding the truth of his identity and worrying that he’s not worthy of ZZS and that he’d be rejected if ZZS knew the truth about him! But now, WKX has finally reached a point where he understands and knows (zhiji, the one I know) he’s so important to ZZS that ZZS would never ever go off to die without taking his most precious possession, the hairpin that his husband gave him! I can’t. My heart. This is like a declaration, after all that time saying they were zhiji, that WKX finally is able to truly see ZZS as that, to know him in his bones, and all of this is also delivered in the middle of WKX in a strop, irritably chastising his husband as an evil brat for running away from home to get himself killed, with Gong Jun’s little  >:(  face in full effect, and I am so filled with love for this show and this couple at this point that I have to pause Youtube just so I can roll around on the sofa, clutching at my chest and scaring the cats with my inarticulate noises. This is so good, y’all. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted. Also, now you know how it feels, WKX, you asshole. Which I suppose is why you even confess that it will would be more painful for the one who survives when if the other dies. And you were prepared to do that to him a second time? I cannot believe you, you asshole. You get to sleep on the ice couch for a month.

And then there’s some Six Cultivation Power mind-melding and what looks to be an INCREDIBLY STUPID and HEARTBREAKING ending that would leave us Burying One of Our Gays, so it’s a good thing Episode 37 (all three minutes of it) exists. It would be nice, though, if the connective tissue from 36 to 37 made any sense. Or existed whatsoever. Just, like, throw me a bone, here, show. Some kind of explicit hand-waviness that actually gets mentioned for why Ye Baiyi apparently was not as smart as he thought he was and didn’t really know what he was talking about when he was doomsaying about how one of the pair will surely, oh surely perish. None of this “Sooooo, they managed to figure out the technique and master it?” from some random shidi who never actually gets an answer. I mean, the door was left open for fanwankery on this one, with what looks to be a very last-minute conceit of all this being a story told by grown-up Chengling to his disciples, which begs the question of how much of what he’s telling them is totally accurate, given any number of issues, including the spottiness of human recall, the possibility (based on the fact they’re still on the mountain in Ep 37) that Chengling never actually saw either of them again to get the full story, and the way Gao Xiaolian basically calls bs on the whole thing. But this is still a gossamer-thin thread on which to hang Ep 37. Ep 37 basically functions as reassurance because of the mere fact of its existence, because they’re clearly both alive, right there in front of your face, regardless of the other fact that it doesn’t actually make any sense, based on Ep 36. It ultimately doesn’t matter if there is no Step 2, because Step 3: Profit! is … right there. In evidence. Happening. On your screen. No matter how vaguely unsatisfying the lack of Step 2 may be.

I do feel like there’s an interesting meta thing going on here, in that the entire show has been about – let’s be honest, it was never really about the plot - queer-coding this couple in ways that supposedly fly just enough under the radar that people can handwave them as Just Good Friends and Brothers (I mean, I guess) with a Bury Your Gays tragic ending (ugh) for good measure. And Chengling is telling a story in-universe that seems to conform to some of this same formula. And yet, we all know well and good that these guys were husbands. (I mean, barring anything else, they’re a couple in the original source material, so checkmate, censorship.) So, are we supposed to carry the same assurance out of the show, on a meta level, that what appears to be happening at the end of Ep 36 - what we discover we’re learning through Chengling’s story-telling - isn’t really the truth? Just, look: While we’re getting the Good Friends and Brothers push, there’s stuff like obvious voice-over work that doesn’t match the much more queer version of what the actors actually said, which is apparently blazingly clear to any viewers who know Mandarin and can manage to lip-read. The show has literally put de-queered words into these characters’ mouths. You can’t trust what you hear. But apparently the show has also made this obvious enough that, if you’re a good enough speaker of the language the show is being told in, and you have a good enough eye, you can see what is actually going on. Are we being taught to trust our eyes more than our ears, are we being told that what we’re being told - by the end of Ep 36 on a meta level, by Ye Baiyi-through-Chengling’s-story on an in-universe level, and by what we learn about what happened from Chengling’s story, itself, also on an in-universe level - is inherently untrustworthy, but that if we “speak the language” of this show well enough, and have a good enough eye, we can decode it and see what “actually” happened and is later made explicit in Ep 37? Is Ep 37 canon? Does it matter, when “what is canon” is already so slippery on this show, where you can apparently lip-read something that’s different than what you’re hearing, and it functions as canon because of the mere fact of its existence, because it’s clearly … right there. In evidence. Happening. On your screen.

Anyway, just some thoughts on all that, which I guess is my own fanwankery work to join up the end of Ep 36 with Ep 37, which was, of course, delightful. No matter how much I might bemoan the lack of Step 2, I had a stupid, dopey grin on my face all the way through Ep 37 and might have even teared up a tiny bit at the very end. You can’t prove anything. Lemme tell you, though, it’s a good idea to have 37 on hand when you run into the brick wall of the end of 36, because while WKX’s willingness to sacrifice himself for love is theoretically great, it is not something I actually want to see come to fruition, given the pall it would cast over the entire joyous experience that the ZZS/WKX relationship is throughout the rest of the show. Sure, there’s always fic, but there’s a heaviness that hangs over the Bury Your Gays trope, and it’s retroactively ruined shows for me before. So THANK YOU, to those of you who hooked me up so I could immediately move on to Ep 37.

What else? Other things:

OK, so, first, I have to get this out of the way: Did we actually already see all of those “flashbacks” we get in the first part of the ep, during the conversation between Zhou Zishu and Jing Beiyuan, when all the political stuff is supposed to be finally falling together to give us the big picture? I would have to go back and scrummage through those eps to be sure, and I’m not going to spend time doing that (yet) when I still need to do some keysmashing about Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing OH MY GOD, but I do feel like some of this was new information, not just stuff that I’d glossed over because it didn’t seem important at the time? If so, not on, show. I will be keeping an eye out for that on re-watch. I am, however, perfectly willing to accept – if it turns out to be true – that you utterly distracted me with the failboats-in-love storyline, to the detriment of my focus on, you know, plot or whatever. It’s happened before. (It’s one of the reasons I need to go back and watch The Untamed again, at some point.)

OMG FAKE KEY! And as ZZS points out, this has been foreshadowed for us from early on, with WKX’s fake Glazed Armors plot. :bangs table with fist: YES. This show is going to reward re-watching SO MUCH.

Duan Pengju, oh my god, this asshole. The look on his face when the Armory didn’t open was so gratifying. Also, ha. I wondered when ZZS was finally going to be done with his shit. In fact, so much gratification in this whole scene. Xie Wang’s face when he realizes WKX double-crossed him – what, did you think you were the only tricksy one in that little alliance, Xie’er? And, holy shit – I cannot believe that Xie’er actually words this as WKX failing him, taking us back around to this theme one more time again. I would maybe feel a little worse for you if you hadn’t been a hairsbreadth away from killing him before ZZS stopped you in the last ep, Xie’er. Also if you hadn’t helped get A-Xiang killed. So I think the fail in this relationship is going both ways. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like you’re going to get the time WKX had to start untangling yourself from the ways your abuser has fucked you up and over.

It once again becomes blindingly clear why ZZS has been my ride-or-die during this whole thing: Under the grumpy, irritable, day-drinking yet somehow eminently practical exterior, he’s actually an idealistic do-gooder who just wants to make the world a better place for people and sacrifice himself for great justice. Never let it be said that I don’t have a type. Also, I mean. Zhang Zhehan’s FACE. Let’s don’t discount the power of that.

Final word: Don’t miss Ep 37. All three minutes of it. They are perhaps the most important three minutes of the entire show.

(I mean, not FINAL final word. I expect to be going back for a re-watch and posting more things, particularly on eps from before I started typing up 1000K-word reactions this first time around.)

multiclass your... ARTIFICER!!

Okay, I’ll admit up-front that I’ve never looked over the artificer before, but I just read through the features and now I want to play one. They have the range, you know?

Artificers rely on their Intelligence, have proficiency in several types of tools, and most intriguingly, have access to a host of spells, from Sanctuary to Catapult, which you prepare daily like a druid or cleric. And those artificer infusions are no joke. Sorry if this post turns into a rant about how cool this class is (and how underrated!! I never see people loving on artificers and I just. Now that I know, how can I not adore?).

But you’re here for the multiclassing options, and for good reason, so let’s get to it.

Artificer + Barbarian

This is actually a surprise to me, because I’m pretty sure this multiclass works super well. Your casting is reasonably low-level and you can definitely focus your prepared spells on healing and utility, which lets you go all-out with a rage in battle if you’re so inclined without compromising the artificer skillset...and your infusions can create a magical weapon that increases your attack and damage rolls! As an artificer, you’ll also be able to attack twice per turn as long as one (or both) of your attacks are made with a magic-infused weapon, so you don’t need to push barbarian to fifth level to get two attacks! The one issue is that you’ll need a decent strength, but that’s not the tallest order in the world. You’re allowed to be smart and buff.

Artificer + Bard

In general, artificers don’t have many bonus actions, but those you do may outweigh even the perks of a bardic inspiration. If I’m being honest, that’s for you to decide, because maybe everyone’s failing all their saves and those inspirations are super necessary, or maybe you just need an extra healer and/or damage dealer in combat--the artificer’s bonus actions typically go to the use of their Homunculus or Turret creations. You’ll gain two cantrips and two new spell slots at first level, and at second level you can gain Jack-of-All-Trades and add half your proficiency bonus to ability checks you’re not proficient in, as well as the Song of Rest post-combat healing feature.

Artificer + Cleric

If you’re interested in this option, I recommend Arcana, Life, or Knowledge domain at first level. I know Forge looks cool but it’s basically Artificer-lite, you won’t get anything new :(. You’ll gain instant access to the cleric first-level spells (which you prepare daily), 3 cleric cantrips, and two new spell slots. This is a good option, because it can enhance the healing and cleric-ish spells you already have access to without too much overlap in abilities.

Artificer + Druid

I was a little concerned that the turret and homunculus features of the Artificer would conflict with wild shaping, but the descriptions (as far as I can see) don’t specify that you must verbally command your mecha-ally, so depending on a DM’s ruling, you could very well be wild-shaped and telepathically command your buddy as a bonus action. Other items of note: two new cantrips, additional first-level spell slots, and a druid circle (second level). There’s nothing to outright contradict this pairing, so you’re good to go!

Artificer + Fighter

Okay, so you know how you have to attack using a magic-infused weapon to get your extra attack? This is a prime multiclass to do it. You’ll gain a fighting style at first level as well as Second Wind which lets you heal yourself (a tiny bit). At second level, you can get that coveted Action Surge, which you can then use to a) cast 2 spells and make 2 weapon attacks or b) make 4 weapon attacks (because of the nature of your Arcane Armament feature). Then on your bonus action, your turret or homunculus buddy can be commanded to act!

Artificer + Monk

This one is not ideal, largely because you would require a decent Wisdom and decent Dex on top of your existing Intelligence (which should hopefully be above 13). Furthermore, monks are just so much, and artificers are also so much, but in different ways. Monks aren’t really designed for item use or casting; although it’s possible to have this multiclass work in your favor, you’ll likely become frustrated by the knowledge that the two classes don’t mesh well. 

Artificer + Paladin

Could be funky and fresh, if it weren’t for the ability score prerequisites (strength and charisma, plus your intelligence). If you’re going to go for it, be prepared to feel like you haven’t progressed much with first level; Lay on Hands is nice, but you already have some healing spells, so it’s not as exciting. At second level, though, you gain the ability to Smite, which you can use at higher levels (a 3rd or 4th level smite does significantly more damage) and some additional spell slots at first level and a fighting style to boot. If you have the stats to back it up, and you’re willing to get off to a sluggish start, this isn’t actually a bad choice. It’s just difficult to pull off well.

Artificer + Ranger

Ranger’s prerequisites are the same as those of monks, but the difference is that ranger could theoretically blend well with artificer. You can learn a new language, gain advantage on certain checks related to your enemies, and employ the favored terrain ability for additional out-of-combat utility. Since artificer is actually well-suited to non-combat work alongside combat, this combo fits nicely (and you get a new skill proficiency just for multiclassing!). At second level, you’ll gain a fighting style and light spellcasting, so you can also enjoy some combat perks.

Artificer + Rogue

For a rogue multiclass, the artificer infusions are where it’s at! Your ability to create magical items to suit the task at hand fits the rogue’s delicate touch and skillset. And since you’re not a casting-only class, you can attack with your magical weapons and apply sneak attack! Let’s not forget Expertise, either, which doubles your proficiency bonus on certain skill checks. You can even pursue those second-level Cunning Actions if you’re looking for something to improve your ability to stay standing during combat. All in all, not a bad choice.

Artificer + Sorcerer

Four new cantrips and two new spell slots are a sweet deal, to be sure, as is the Sorcerous Origin (though your origin choice is probably going to be roleplay motivated, I adore Wild Magic as a consequence of your artificer experimentation). Font of Magic is excellent for “buying” spell slots when you’ve run short, but I’m not entirely convinced Metamagic is worth an entire level. It starts to drift from the practicality of the Artificer (though as usual, there are always exceptions! Twinning or Quickening a spell might be worth it to you)

Artificer + Warlock

Warlock is a great choice if you’re looking for a greater damage output. You’ll only get one new spell slot, but you’ll get two cantrips (and I recommend Eldritch Blast and any other that scales its damage with your level). The Otherworldly Patron can offer a neat perk, to be sure, but don’t discount the joys of the Eldritch Invocations, which generally won’t compromise your actions in combat and actually fit right in among infusion effects.

Artificer + Wizard

The one we’ve all been waiting for: the only Core Class that relies on the same ability score as the artificer. You’ll get three cantrips and two first-level spell slots. The key here is really that the two classes feed into one another well, and used correctly, Wizard can enhance the artificer’s spell abilities. While there’s a lot of artificer spells that are part of the wizard set, there are many more wizard spells you don’t already have access to (and you have access to a handful of non-wizard spells). This means you can take spells that suit the flavor of your class that you don’t already have access to! Arcane Recovery won’t do a ton for you--it’s just one spell slot--but at second level your Arcane Tradition choice can either diversify or double-down on your artificing without causing too much overlap.

Artificers are a diverse enough class that they’ll work well with most multiclass options! Thanks so much to @thelastofthenumenoreans for the request.

EoA Ship Appreciation Week 2020 - Day One - New Beginnings  Enemies/Rivals

Note: So...I get it I likely am stretching it more than a bit with this kind of story, as we have absolutely no idea of whether these characters are rivals, much less of whether they even know the other exists. 

But this ship just came to me one day, and I sailed away on it before I knew what had happened. And given what we know of their characters, I think it would make sense for them to have started out like rivals, before turning into something better, so to speak. 

I hope you like my take on this.

Note #2: The full name I gave Professor Mendoza is not canon in any way. It’s something I came up with. I felt and feel it makes sense, but it’s not in any way official. Just thought I’d say it.

Sparks Under Stars

“And so, according to the legend, the Creators rewarded the jaquins for the role they played in that battle by giving them a picture in the sky, so their bravery and loyalty would be remembered for all eternity,” Professor Sabina Campana Mendoza finished, her brown eyes locked on the familiar constellation whose story was one of her favorites.

If she looked hard enough, it almost seemed she could see the creature taking form around the stars that were its central structure, turning to smile at her before flying away to halt the plots of evildoers, like she had often seen real jaquins doing over the course of her life.

Of course, it did not happen, but all the same, those stars seemed to carry a special glow about them, one no other constellation could match. Just looking at it, she could understand why the Maruvians had made this out to be a special constellation.

"Wow," a familiar raspy voice breathed from her side, a soft rush of hot air caressing her hair.

Drawn away from her musings, Sabina looked at the sound, right into the eyes of the man who had once been the greatest pain in her neck, but was now something much more wonderful.

"That was a beautiful story," Antonio Agama added as the stared into her eyes, his own green ones glowing softly in the light of the campfire they were lying by as they huddled half-dressed under a blanket. “Thank you for telling it to me.”

Taken aback by both his voice and gaze, Sabina could only blink. Both things told her that he meant what he said, and yet the feeling somehow seemed out of place on him. Yes, she had told this story many times before, and while she had yet to receive truly nasty feedback - discounting people who were plain rude or deliberately trying to start trouble - this kind of delighted reaction seemed out of place on an adult man.

Unsure of what else to do, Sabina reached up and bopped Antonio's nose.

"Don't you think we're past the stage where you need to butter me up?"

For some reason, his smile briefly dimmed at her words, as if he was actually hurt that she was genuinely accusing him of something.

"I meant it," he stated, sounding just as sincere as before. "It was a beautiful story, even if it had its sad parts. I'm glad to have learned it."

Despite herself, Sabina had to make a noticeable effort not to scrunch up her face in puzzlement. As honest as his words still sounded, what they were implying seemed just a bit too… unexpected, for lack of a better term.

“You mean… You'd never heard it before?” she managed to whisper.

Antonio nodded, again conveying full sincerity in his face. The slightest of gasps flew past her lips from the small gesture, though it conveyed only a tiny part of the amazement that she felt at this reveal. Him saying he’d never heard this story was almost as shocking as if he’d told her he had never learned to read. Which she knew some people didn’t in certain parts of the world, but not in Avalor. Despite all the damage Shuriki’s rule had done to them as a culture, everyone still learned to read as far as she knew.

But then again, she also thought everyone knew this story, and Antonio had just told her he didn’t.

I just read a post that say if a meta is ended with this sentence, it diminishes the meta and makes it less credible. But I have to say that is pure rubbish. And if one is still very adamant about the position of this sentence, then, fine, I will start my post with this sentence and not put it in the end. Also, posting a meta and declaring yourself not a shipper does not automatically make your post credible, it just make you not a shipper, that is all. To be honest, personally, I blame the show - the directors, the actors, the writer’s D&D and George RR Martin.

Before Season 6, I have never even thought of Jon and Sansa together as a couple. All I wanted for these characters and all the Starks while we’re at it, is for them to be safe, alive, together and finally have justice for what’s been done for their family and their house. I want them to survive the Long Night and I want them all back in Winterfell were they belong. Sansa, Arya, Bran, Rickon and Jon to be exact.

I know a good story will become great when there is a very good plot twist done right. It happened with all the best stories out there. The most recent of which that I enjoyed are the Harry Potter story and the Hunger Games story. And with TV shows, it happened with my favorite show The 100. So, I know that one can actually expect a plot twist if a writer is any good. But GOT is different for me since the author George RR Martin is to put it simply THE KING OF PLOT TWISTS. It’s one of the reasons why this show/story is so popular and addictive. And inspires so many theories and metas. 

A plot twist that the fans have all been waiting for was the R+L=J theory. This theory pretty much I’ve already believed in since I started watching the show in Season 1. I did not have any theories of the the possible effect/outcome for when this plot twist will come into play but I do know that Jon NOT being NED’s son is going to be important. I just don’t have any idea what the possibilities are.

Then, Season 6 happened, suddenly I am reminded of the feeling that I got when Harry started liking Ginny and Peeta no longer himself and no longer loving Katniss with Katniss having such a huge reaction to Peeta dying in front of her. I had hoped that Harry and Hermione will not be endgame because I like Hermione and Ron together and I had always hoped that Katniss will love Peeta but I was not so sure that it will happened since Katniss has a history with Gale. So I never thought I will witness the pairing that I liked come to pass.

With GOT though, I did not have much illusions since we were bombarded left right and centre with horrifying weddings and people loving each other and then dying, so I stuck with just hoping for my faves to be alive.

Then, the show gave us the best thing in this series:

And, I was like, Woah! this reunion was EPIC. I mean it had emotions, unexpected yet hoped for by fans factor, it had sweeping music and the acting was so ON POINT. Like you know something has changed. This scene was a GAME CHANGER for the show and the story, for both the characters and for us the audience. And honestly, I never expected them to be reunited first, much less it will be this EPIC.

So, I was suspicious at first, I was like Nah! it can’t be - remember I already believed in the R+L=J theory so I already looked at them as cousins. So I restrained myself even though I so much want to be in this ship like right then. I love to ship lol.

Then the show keep on giving me these scenes filled with SMILING JON AND SANSA 

After seeing these two characters season after season in misery and pain, seeing them happy and being themselves when they are around each other gives me LIFE dangit! And I can only take so much, but I thought i have to be strong… But the show never let up on me, there are these scenes where they argue, bicker, banter and talk things out that basically scream #married

there are the declaration of protection, giving the other the kill, saving each other

then a very tender moment that is so very rare for Jon but seems to be his normal state when it comes to Sansa

And these are just season 6 you know??? Can you ever blame me that I caved but once I caved, I did so willingly and even with the knowledge that it can end in heartbreak if I ship them. Season 6 was just that EPIC. And they end the season with the two of them sitting/standing side by side as the northern Lords declare Jon the King in the North. Just EPIC.

So, i thought, that was it. It was enough my ship was wonderful and I enjoyed every second of when they are together. I thought season 7 will be different. The show will focus now on Jon and D*ny and I have to accept that. I am still gonna be a happy camper because of Season 6. 

Unfortunately, or in my opinion, to my utmost happiness, the show did not allow me to forget this pairing at all… No, NO. In fact, they made it worse for me…
