New ministerial appointments in Russia
The Russian government announced a top-rank reshuffle, but no radical ministerial appointments were made, Russian media reported.
Reports of the ministerial appointments appeared in Russian media on Sunday. As follows from the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, no radical changes have taken place. Putin nominated Andrey Belousov, former first deputy prime minister Mikhail Mishustin, to the Federation Council as the new defence minister.
New Defence Minister
Andrey Belousov, former presidential aide for economic issues, would replace Sergei Shoigu. The latter, in turn, was appointed the new secretary of the Russian Security Council. The Federation Council will consider his appointment on May 14.

Putin has effectively fired his hunting buddy Sergei Shoigu as defense minister. He is being replaced by an economist with no military background. What could possibly go wrong?
Vladimir Putin has removed his longtime ally Sergei Shoigu as defence minister in the most significant reshuffle to the military command since Russian troops invaded Ukraine more than two years ago. In a surprise announcement, the Kremlin said Andrei Belousov, a former deputy prime minister who specialises in economics, will replace Shoigu. Putin, who was sworn into his fifth term as Russia’s leader earlier this week, proposed that Shoigu take the position as head of Russia’s powerful security council. It is currently led by Nikolai Patrushev, a hawkish former spy and one of Putin’s closest advisers. Shoigu, Russia’s longest-serving minister, assumed leadership of the defence ministry in 2012 after his tenure as the emergency services minister. He has been leading Russia’s military through its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which began in 2022.
That Russian 3-day "special operation" in Ukraine is now in Day 809.
Russian losses in Ukraine make Soviet losses in Afghanistan seem like a day at the beach.
Tumblr media
Shoigu must have had an especially difficult time explaining to Putin how a country with no conventional navy managed to sink 26 Russian warships as well as a submarine.
Ukraine is not just playing defense. It continues to hit oil installations and other heavy industry deep inside Russia. At the very least, that looks embarrassing for Russia.
Media: Drones attacked Russia’s Volgograd oil refinery, Kaluga oil depot, Lipetsk steel mill
Of course Putin himself has only himself to blame for this military fiasco. His unhinged desire to restore the decrepit Soviet Union in all but name is the real cause of this ongoing disaster.
Analysis of the departure of Shoigu via DW.

The US’ internal policymaking dynamics have shifted since the start of Russia’s special operation.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told the Rossiya 1 TV channel that the US heeded his country’s demand last month to force Ukraine to call off a major provocation that his country believed had American backing and which would have dramatically escalated tensions if it happened. He strongly hinted that this was supposed to be an assassination attempt against Putin and new Defense Minister Andrey Belousov at St. Petersburg’s Naval Day Parade on 28 July in order to generate a “media effect”.
Ryabkov’s remarks follow Belousov’s call to his American counterpart Lloyd Austin on 12 July, the content of which was first reported by the New York Times (NYT) on 26 July, where he conveyed Russia’s demand for the US to force Ukraine to call off its plans. One day later on 13 July, which was coincidentally the same day that an assassination attempt was made against Trump, Ukrainian military-intelligence chief Kirill Budanov confirmed that his country had indeed tried to kill Putin in the past but obviously failed.
His candid admission prompted Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova to accuse the US of funding such attempts and allege that Western countries had also directly participated in them. This scandalous development wasn’t given the attention that it deserved due to the fallout from Trump’s attempted assassination, which took priority in the global media cycle, hence why most observers weren’t even aware of Budanov’s admission and Zakharova’s response.

A group of wives and mothers of mobilized Russian soldiers picketed outside of the Defense Ministry building in Moscow on June 3. The women brought their children and wore t-shirts and carried signs with slogans like, “Please bring my dad home” and “It’s time for the mobilized to come home,” referring to servicemen who were drafted into the army as part of Russia’s mobilization drive in September 2022.
They also demanded a meeting with Russia’s recently appointed Defense Minister, Andrey Belousov. When police arrived at the scene, the protesters knelt down on the ground. In video footage from the picket, the women can be heard worrying about the prospect of being “put in the police van with the children.”
One of the protesters told Agentstvo that women from a number of different groups joined the rally, with the exception of Put Domoi (“The Way Home”) — a soldiers’ wives initiative that the Russian authorities recently blacklisted as a “foreign agent.”

32, 33, and 14 for the titans, + G-Toilet and Skibidi scientist? Probably not 14 for those last 2 though, obviously haha
14. Most heroic moment
Titan Camera: In episode 64 when TCam carries away the toilet bomb. It turned out not to be the heroic sacrifice we thought at first, but imagine if they'd got it wrong? It totally would have been!
Titan Speaker: Preventing TCam from self-destruction in episode 67.
Titan TV: The events of episode 47 - TTv would totally have finished off G-Toilet if TSpeaker hadn't still been infected.
G-Toilet: Before they became a toilet, one of their neighbours broke their leg, so they carried all the neighbour's shopping in and put the chilled/frozen stuff in the fridge/freezer (but they didn't put any of the ambient stuff in the cupboards, plus they stole the neighbour's jammy dodgers and farted and blamed the neighbour's dog.)
Scientist Toilet: Before they became a toilet, they rescued a kitten from a storm drain. (The kitten grew up to be the skibidi kitty we see in episode 16.)
32. Something guaranteed to make them smile/laugh
G-Toilet: Come Back Mrs Noah. It's the worst sitcom of all time. G-Toilet is eeeevil, so of course they think it's good.
Scientist Toilet: the Belousov-Zhabotinskii reaction.
33. Something guaranteed to make them cry
G-Toilet: Whenever his cool sunglasses break again. He likes those!
Scientist Toilet: When they're doing a sudoku and they think they've nearly finished then they realise they made a mistake early on so they can't finish it without redoing pretty much the whole grid. Also when they dunk biscuits in their tea and the biscuit breaks off and lands in the tea.
Question 32 and 33 previously answered for all 3 Titans here.
