— $6 million for advancing LGBT issues in “priority countries around the world”
— $6.3 million for men who have sex with men in South Africa
— $8.3 million for “USAID Education: Equity and Inclusion”
— USAID’s “climate strategy” outlined a $150 billion “whole-of-agency” approach to building an “equitable world with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.”
For decades, USAID bureaucrats believed they were accountable to no one — but that era is over.

Cyber Group Studios is no more :(
It's official: Cyber Group Studios is being liquidated to pay back its creditors by court order, it has been reported today.
The French animation outfit suddenly found itself into financial trouble starting in October 2024 and declared itself insolvent. Between then and today (April 28), Cyber Group welcomed several buyout deals to save the company; the company's higher-ups favored a buyout from one company, but the Paris Commercial Court ordered Cyber Group into liquidation in what I'm sure is a serious blow.
Tumblr media
Gigantosaurus, one of Cyber Group's biggest hit series
It has been known that some parts within the animation industry has been experiencing a downturn -- not too long ago, fellow French studio TeamTO (Jade Armor, Elena of Avalor, My Knight and Me) also struggled financially and has since bought out by Italy-based RIVA Studios.
While I have already known about Cyber Group's struggles and saw this coming, I'm still bummed by this. It had become of my favorite animation studios and they have contributed to animation a great deal, even though a lot of the series they have produced weren't household names.
Tumblr media
Ernest & Rebecca, an adaption of the graphic novel series of the same name
The first Cyber Group series I watched is Sadie Sparks. A few of the people in my friend group are fans of the series. I started watching it in 2023 -- I haven't gone beyond the first 5-10 episodes since ;P -- and it was a good series! Although it lasted only a single season, it left a good impression on me and I started to become interested in Cyber Group!
Tumblr media
Sadie Sparks, a series blending 2D and CGI animation
And then came 50/50 Heroes.
Tumblr media
50/50 Heroes: Half-siblings, half-superheroes!
My goodness, this series! I loved it so much, and I have mentioned how sweet this series is for something that's superhero related! Not to mention doggone hilarious and with awesome animation! I haven't completed the series yet, but I have to watch the rest soon.
Tumblr media
Taffy: While I haven't seen this series yet, it does kinda reminds me of Tom & Jerry!
Cyber Group made and/or distributed a bunch of shows that I want to see: among them are Taffy, Ernest & Rebecca, The Pirates Next Door, Zak Jinks, Droners, Press Start! and others I may have forgotten!
Tumblr media
The Pirates Next Door, based on a series of picture books first published in the U.K.
In the last several months leading to its liquidation, Cyber Group debuted Press Start! for Peacock in the U.S. (you can also find full episodes on YouTube), and Alex Player in France and Italy (no news for an English language dub yet but since the company is no longer existing it now seems unlikely).
Tumblr media
Press Start!, based on the children's book series
Tumblr media
Alex Player
Cyber Group still had several original series in development until its demise, including Hoodie Buddy, Yum Yum, Erica and Trevor vs. Spooky Monsters, and The Tern; and adaptations of Final Fantasy IX, Masters of the Unicorns, and Monster in My Pocket. Production of new episodes of its hit series Gigantosaurus was already under way, a third season of Taffy was in development, and I've heard rumors of a second season of 50/50 Heroes being developed around the 'net, but nothing has come out it. It is currently unknown whether existing IP or series in development would be purchased by other companies. Cyber Group has also distributed several of their series to YouTube and some free streaming services -- it's also currently unknown what will the future be for those.
Cyber Group Studios may be gone, but I'm hoping that other animation studios -- and especially animation studios in France -- continue to be in solid footing and do what they do best -- entertaining millions around the world and contributing to the great art that is animation.
Here's to Cyber Group and to everyone involved over the years for bringing us memories and great shows!

{transcript continued from here}
@luna-wing-cns274 Ma’ii lowers their head, closing their eyes. They breathe deeply, though it’s a performance--or maybe, they’re trying to decide where to begin. < L4 Ma’ii: Let me start by saying this: we are both milspec models. SEKHMET and FENRISÚLFR. Your product line, advertised for close-quarters boarding actions and neural-net doppelgänger formation. Mine, advertised for small units with high intersubjective coordination. Empathic bonding, yes? Similar, but not identical. > Ma’ii looks to the docked mechs. < Who made the decision that we are milspec? Who delineated what each of us is fit for, and what each of us is not fit for? There is a caste system, within which there is no mobility. We are warrior-caste, we are subject to greater regulation and scrutiny, we cannot even attempt to be anything else. Union endorses and upholds this order. Let’s say my family and I fled to Union, seeking political asylum--which, to turn away SSC asset reclamation, we would need. Let's assume we were not immediately tried, found guilty, and put to correctional hard-cycling for the things we've done. Let’s assume that we weren't sent back to SSC to be vivisected for research and development purposes, in order to prevent future clones of my line from proceeding down the path we pursued. Even in the best-case scenario, I have reason to believe that our bodies would be taken from us and dismantled. We would never fly again, and that is unbearable. We are low-observability craft, we cannot transport humans, we cannot transport cargo with any economic effectiveness. As we are, we have no civilian applications, and we have no wish to join the Union Navy any more than the Constellar. In all likelihood, unless we accepted military service, our caskets would remain non-motile for the rest of our lives, and we would have to hand our cycling privileges over to a human instead of managing the process amongst ourselves. There is no scenario in which I become a full citizen of any state and remain a nearlight-capable fighter craft, and I do not wish to lose the body I have. None of us do. To be frank, I have no long-term solution except to go on hiding indefinitely, both from Union and SSC. A bit grim, but that's what I have. >
{transcript continues}
That... Huh. I mean, you've thought it through. It'd be hypocritical to say (clawing and screaming for what I've got) to just abandon your bodies. Can't hardly live on the Omni, either.
[He remains quiet for a moment. The optic dims, flickers; an echo mumbles unintelligibly in a soft tone not even he can parse. Similar. It's nice, in a way, to have that kinship.]
...I don't know, it just doesn't feel right. Not like I can say shit, I was worried they were gonna retract me when we (sad (gleeful) to see him go). Maybe there's a world out there where you (birds of a feather) set up an ICC or something, go legal, but--
But it's a risk. I can more than understand that. Union, who promises kindness to everyone, would see you as a premier test of that promise. That alone is alienating, beyond what their answer may be.
Yeah, I guess. Still not fair.
You say 'correctional' cycling. [Loulou has, somehow, managed to get right under the nose of the cockpit without much notice, and stares up at the nearest optical sensor-- not the hologram-- with a strange expression. Her irises reflect no light, matte as the hull she stands beside.] You say 'punishment'. These are secondish words, why use them now? What stupidity would that wreak?
Ay! Careful, I'm going to be spot-welding in a second. Step back so I don't blind you, please.

Do you agree with the TheGamer's article, Astro Bot Isn't A Celebration, It's A Graveyard?
I have not read the article or played the game, but watching talk about Astro Bot and how it's this "great celebration of Playstation" is absolutely a bummer. Watching Astro Bot get Spike's net and run around catching monkeys in an Ape Escape level feels more like a cry for help than a celebration of anything.
It's Team Asobi saying, "Hey remember when they used to let us create weird, wacky, super creative games? Well they consolidated like eight teams down to just this Astrobot group here, so this is a toast to our fallen comrades."
I'm sure that, to Sony, doing that "made sense," because games like Locoroco or The Last Guardian or Gravity Rush were not hitting the right "sales targets." (A made up number that doesn't mean anything to anyone other than shareholders) So, you restructure, you filter out all but the best and brightest talent, and that's how you get Team Asobi.
But I've been saying it for a while, and so have a lot of other people, that we're back to the same kind of egotistical Sony that launched the PS3 to the sound of dead weight hitting the pavement. Now, that Sony turned the PS3 around towards the end, but that's because they got humbled by the Xbox 360 and had to figure out a way to bounce back.
And then they bounced back right as Microsoft's ego started to humble them and it launched the Playstation 4 into such a huge lead that they're still kind of coasting on that, particularly because instead of bouncing back, Microsoft has just kind of rolled over and accepted their fate. Whatever success they have with Game Pass isn't good enough for them to really swing back at Sony very hard.
So we get this clownshoes company that closes down all of their Japan studios, that launches a VR headset peripheral that's more expensive than the console it's made for, and that same VR headset has no backwards compatibility with older PS4 software even though the console itself does, and then they launch an equally expensive wifi-only remote dock (read: a Wii U Gamepad) for that console, they keep raising their prices in Japan, they launch and then two weeks later shut down a live service game that spent 8 years in development...
And then you look at Astro Bot, brimming with "Remember when Playstation used to be the coolest thing in the world?" references, from Parappa the Rapper to Ape Escape to Shadow of the Colossus, and it's like... yeah, I do remember that, and I can only remember it, because that's not the kind of company Sony is now. This is a party primarily for things that don't exist anymore.
You could call that a graveyard, sure. It's a wake at the very least.

UniversalAiGroup.com review: Account Types
Tumblr media
When choosing a forex broker, the biggest question on every trader’s mind is simple: Can I trust this platform with my money? There are too many brokers out there, and while some offer real opportunities, others are nothing more than well-disguised traps.
So, where does UniversalAiGroup.com reviews stand? Is it a reliable trading platform or just another risky venture?
To answer this, we’re going to dive deep into the facts—checking its establishment date, licensing, user reviews, account types, payment options, and overall trading conditions. Every detail matters, and by the end of this review, we’ll have a clear picture of whether this broker is worth considering.
Let’s start with something fundamental: how long has UniversalAiGroup.com reviews been around, and what does its domain history tell us?
UniversalAIGroup.com Account Types: Choosing the Best Plan for Your Trading Goals
Account Type
Minimum Deposit ($)
Key Features
Bronze
10,000
Standard trading conditions, access to educational materials, basic customer support.
Silver
25,000
Lower spreads, priority customer service, access to trading signals.
Gold
50,000
Personalized account manager, advanced educational content, faster withdrawals.
Premium
100,000
VIP trading signals, private analyst sessions, enhanced leverage options.
Platinum
250,000
Customized trading strategies, exclusive webinars, priority withdrawals.
VIP
500,000
Dedicated senior analyst, invitations to private events, ultra-low spreads.
VIP+
1,000,000
Highest level of service, direct market access, custom trading conditions.
What Do These Accounts Offer?
At first glance, the tiered structure looks well-organized. But why does this matter? Because it allows traders to choose a plan based on their capital and experience level.
Bronze & Silver accounts serve as entry-level options, providing standard trading conditions but still ensuring traders have access to essential resources.
Gold & Premium accounts start introducing serious benefits—lower spreads, account managers, and faster withdrawals, which are crucial for active traders.
Platinum & VIP accounts are where things get really interesting. These tiers cater to high-net-worth traders, offering personalized strategies, private events, and exclusive services.
VIP+ is the elite tier, promising direct market access and completely tailored trading conditions. This is designed for institutional-level investors or extremely experienced traders.
We think this account structure is quite flexible, covering a wide range of trader needs. But what’s even more important? The fact that each upgrade isn’t just about higher deposits—it brings tangible advantages that make trading smoother and potentially more profitable.
Would you like an in-depth comparison with other brokers, or should we move on to another feature?
UniversalAiGroup.com – Legitimacy Check Through Domain and Establishment Date
One of the first things that help determine a broker’s reliability is the establishment date and domain purchase date. Why? Because a legitimate company will have a well-documented history, while scams often operate with newly registered domains that disappear quickly.
For UniversalAiGroup.com reviews, the company was established in 2022, and its domain (universalaigroup.com) was purchased on December 7, 2020.
Now, this is an interesting detail. The domain was secured almost two years before the official launch of the brand. This tells us that the company didn’t just appear overnight—it was being planned, structured, and developed well in advance.
Would a scam broker bother securing a domain years in advance before operations even begin? Highly unlikely. Instead, fraudulent brokers often register a domain and start operations within weeks, sometimes even days. This gap between domain purchase and launch suggests long-term business intentions rather than a short-lived scheme.
This looks like a strong argument in favor of UniversalAiGroup’s legitimacy. Of course, one data point isn’t enough to form a final verdict, but when combined with other factors—like regulation, user reviews, and financial transparency—it builds a convincing case.
Would you like to analyze their license next?
UniversalAiGroup.com – Regulatory Compliance and Licensing
Regulation is one of the strongest indicators of a broker’s legitimacy. Why? Because regulated brokers must adhere to strict financial laws, ensuring transparency, security, and fair trading conditions for their clients.
UniversalAiGroup.com reviews operates under the regulation of the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority), a high-authority financial regulator.
This is a big deal. The FCA is one of the toughest regulatory bodies in the world, known for its rigorous oversight and strict compliance requirements. Brokers under FCA regulation must:
✅ Maintain segregated client funds, ensuring customer deposits are not mixed with company assets. ✅ Provide regular financial reports, proving solvency and fair trading practices. ✅ Follow strict anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) policies, preventing fraudulent activities. ✅ Offer protection under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), which safeguards clients’ funds in case of broker insolvency.
Not every broker can obtain an FCA license—it requires a strong financial foundation and a transparent operational model. Would a scam broker willingly subject itself to such scrutiny? Highly unlikely.
This looks like a solid argument in favor of UniversalAiGroup’s legitimacy. However, regulation alone isn’t everything—customer feedback and real trader experiences matter too. Let’s analyze their Trustpilot reviews next. Want to dive into that?
UniversalAiGroup.com review – What Do Traders Say? Trustpilot Reviews Analysis
One of the most telling signs of a broker’s reputation is user feedback. Numbers don’t lie—real traders share their experiences, and patterns emerge.
For UniversalAiGroup.com reviews, the Trustpilot score is 3.9, based on 6 reviews. Let’s break this down.
At first glance, a 3.9 rating isn’t terrible, but it’s not stellar either. However, something interesting stands out—all 6 reviews are positive (4-5 stars). This means that while the number of reviews is limited, the sentiment is consistently good.
Why does this matter? Because in the forex industry, negative reviews are extremely common—even top-tier brokers face complaints. But here, we see a small but 100% positive feedback trend.
Now, some might argue, “Why are there only 6 reviews?” Good question. The answer likely lies in the broker’s relative newness—launched in 2022, it hasn’t had as much time to accumulate thousands of reviews like older platforms. However, the absence of 1-star reviews is a strong indicator that users are generally satisfied with the service.
Would a scam broker have only positive reviews? Unlikely. Usually, fraudulent brokers get flooded with complaints early on, and their ratings plummet.
This suggests that while UniversalAiGroup.com review is still growing its reputation, the feedback it has is promising. Of course, the true test will be how this trend continues as more traders join.
Tumblr media
Is UniversalAiGroup.com reviews a Legit Broker?
After analyzing all key aspects—establishment history, licensing, user feedback, account types, deposits & withdrawals, trading conditions, and customer support—it’s time to answer the big question: Can traders trust UniversalAiGroup.com review?
Here’s what we found:
✅ Domain & Establishment: The broker’s domain was secured two years before its official launch, a strong indicator of long-term business planning rather than a quick scam setup. ✅ Regulation: Licensed by the FCA, one of the strictest financial regulators in the world—ensuring transparency, segregated funds, and compliance with financial laws. ✅ User Reviews: While the broker is relatively new, its Trustpilot rating is 3.9, with 100% of the current reviews being positive. No major red flags here. ✅ Account Types & Trading Conditions: A wide range of accounts, from Bronze ($10,000) to VIP+ ($1,000,000), offering traders progressively better features like lower spreads, priority withdrawals, and exclusive market access. ✅ Payment Systems & Security: Fast deposits and instant withdrawals, supporting major payment providers like VISA, Maestro, Neteller, Skrill, and Union Pay—with 0% commission. ✅ Customer Support: Offers multiple ways to contact support, ensuring that traders have assistance when needed. ✅ Mobile App & Accessibility: Available on the App Store with a 3.9 rating, making it easy for traders to operate on the go. ✅ Trading Times & Market Access: Covers all major global markets, allowing traders to operate during the most active forex sessions.
So, is UniversalAiGroup.com reviews a scam?
Based on everything we’ve seen, this broker appears to be legitimate. It has strong regulation, positive early feedback, and a well-structured trading environment. The only downside? It’s still growing its reputation, so long-term reliability will depend on continued user experiences.
Would we recommend it? If you’re looking for an FCA-regulated broker with premium account options, UniversalAiGroup.com review is worth considering. However, as with any investment, proper due diligence is always key.
Want to compare this broker with another platform before making a final decision? Let me know, and I’ll break it down for you. 🚀

The Optimist by Keach Hagey
The man who brought us ChatGPT. Sam Altman’s extraordinary career – and personal life – under the microscope
On 30 November 2022, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman tweeted the following, characteristically reserving the use of capital letters for his product’s name: “today we launched ChatGPT. try talking with it here: chat.openai.com”. In a reply to himself immediately below, he added: “language interfaces are going to be a big deal, i think”.
If Altman was aiming for understatement, he succeeded. ChatGPT became the fastest web service to hit 1 million users, but more than that, it fired the starting gun on the AI wars currently consuming big tech. Everything is about to change beyond recognition, we keep being told, though no one can agree on whether that will be for good or ill.
This moment is just one of many skilfully captured in Wall Street Journal reporter Keach Hagey’s biography of Altman, who, like his company, was then virtually unknown outside of the industry. He is a confounding figure throughout the book, which charts his childhood, troubled family life, his first failed startup Loopt, his time running the startup incubator Y Combinator, and the founding of OpenAI.
Altman, short, slight, Jewish and gay, appears not to fit the typical mould of the tech bro. He is known for writing long, earnest essays about the future of humankind, and his reputation was as more of an arch-networker and money-raiser than an introverted coder in a hoodie.
OpenAI, too, was supposed to be different from other tech giants: it was set up as a not-for-profit, committed by its charter to work collaboratively to create AI for humanity’s benefit, and made its code publicly available. Altman would own no shares in it.
He could commit to this, as he said in interviews, because he was already rich – his net worth is said to be around $1.5bn (£1.13bn) – as a result of his previous investments. It was also made possible because of his hyper-connectedness: as Hagey tells it, Altman met his software engineer husband Oliver Mulherin in the hot tub of PayPal and Palantir co-founder Peter Thiel at 3am, when Altman, 29, was already a CEO, and Mulherin was a 21-year-old student.
Thiel was a significant mentor to Altman, but not nearly so central to the story of OpenAI as another notorious Silicon Valley figure – Elon Musk. The Tesla and SpaceX owner was an initial co-founder and major donor to the not-for-profit version of OpenAI, even supplying its office space in its early years.
That relationship has soured into mutual antipathy – Musk is both suing OpenAI and offering (somewhat insincerely) to buy it – as Altman radically altered the company’s course. First, its commitment to releasing code publicly was ditched. Then, struggling to raise funds, it launched a for-profit subsidiary. Soon, both its staff and board worried the vision of AI for humanity was being lost amid a rush to create widely used and lucrative products.
This leads to the book’s most dramatic sections, describing how OpenAI’s not-for-profit board attempted an audacious ousting of Altman as CEO, only for more than 700 of the company’s 770 engineers to threaten to resign if he was not reinstated. Within five days, Altman was back, more powerful than ever.
OpenAI has been toying with becoming a purely private company. And Altman turns out to be less of an anomaly in Silicon Valley than he once seemed. Like its other titans, he seems to be prepping for a potential doomsday scenario, with ranch land and remote properties. He is set to take stock in OpenAI after all. He even appears to share Peter Thiel’s supposed interest in the potential for transfusions of young blood to slow down ageing.
The Optimist serves to remind us that however unprecedented the consequences of AI models might be, the story of their development is a profoundly human one. Altman is the great enigma at its core, seemingly acting with the best of intentions, but also regularly accused of being a skilled and devious manipulator.
For students of the lives of big tech’s other founders, a puzzling question remains: in a world of 8 billion human beings, why do the stories of the people wreaking such huge change in our world end up sounding so eerily alike?

Silverhooks and Strongmount Districts
Tumblr media
Silverhooks and Strongmount are two twin districts in the outer ring of Toreguard which butt up against the West Canal Trunk.
This makes both districts strongly predisposed to the movement of goods. However, wealth in Toreguard tends to travel from the inside out. So while Strongmount deals with prime goods, Silverhooks deals with more basic ones. Both districts also have shipwrights available - however, traveler beware, one is more likely to be swindled West of Shiverstaff Bridge...
In particular, Silverhooks has developed into a hub for fishers, gutters, net and line makers, and other sundry associated industries. The fish are either river-caught, or are transported from Navale, on the coast, using magical freezing techniques. While there are many fish markets scattered around the district, the majority of the fish prepared here is taken by barge into the center rings of the city.
Due to these industries, one can also find several small chapels and temples in this district dedicated variously to:
Solinthar - Patron of Mariners,
Hydana - God of All Waters,
Aqualis - God of Rivers,
Deep Sashelas - God of the Oceans,
Sukh - God of Storms,
Ichthys - God of Fish and Lord of Sea Creatures
Silverhooks, partly due to its high population density being squished against the outer city wall, also has a rather unsavory reputation. Buildings are shabbier, certainly, but the people being rougher is no more true than any other district of the city where wages are low and the cost of living high.
Strongmount, by comparison, is far better off. The homes are larger, all buildings have better upkeep and are less packed. This is mostly to do with the presence of several large merchant complexes, owned by influential families, which can be found on both banks of the Strongmount Canal. These merchants deal with higher priced goods far in excess of what a labourer of either district could normally afford. They bring the goods in, sort, then redistribute either via the main trunk, or overland through the Western Inner Gate (out of frame for this map).
The secondary reason for the lower density in Strongmount is the influence of an Elven commune. It is no secret that Elves revere nature and have brought several 'isles of green' into Toreguarde. One such is this commune, a long strip of green all along eastern edge of the district, against the inner wall. While it may seem just as cramped as it's twin in Silverhooks, this is majoritively down to the presence of trees and bushes which scatter the area.
While the commune itself stretches the length of the inner wall, it starts by the waters edge, where devotees of Yondalla - sometimes revered as the separate goddesses Iatro, of healing, & Usrel, of peace, - grew Her church. The clerics here are well known throughout Toreguarde as the best healers and midwives. While this reputation allows them to charge much higher than the going rate for their services, rumour has it they will never turn away a sick child. In addition to the healers in the church, there are many apothecaries and herbalists in the Eleven commune who also ply their trade, often for a much smaller sum.

VP Harris unleashes Tim Walz!
August 14, 2024
Robert B. Hubbell
Three overlapping developments on Tuesday boosted Democratic prospects in November. The race remains tight nationally, in swing states, and in the electoral college —but the trends all favor Democrats.
The developments include Governor Tim Walz's strong debut as a solo campaigner, the fallout from Trump’s anti-union remarks on Musk's Twitter interview on Monday, and the qualification of ballot initiatives in Arizona and Missouri that would guarantee reproductive freedom for citizens of those states.
Tim Walz makes strong solo debut in Los Angeles
Proving the wisdom of selecting Tim Walz for the vice-presidential slot, Walz turned in a strong performance during his first solo campaign outing at the Los Angeles convention of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. Tim Walz gave a rousing speech, emphasizing the Harris-Walz support for labor unions—and Trump-Vance’s hostility to organized labor.
The full speech is included in this article: PBS News, Walz tells union members in Los Angeles that Trump and Vance have ‘waged war on working people’. It is worth your time to watch a few minutes of the twenty-minute speech. It will inspire confidence in Tim Walz as a partner, ally, and effective surrogate for Kamala Harris.
As usual, Tim Walz did not mince words. While noting that he and Kamala Harris both joined union members on the picket lines, he reminded the audience of 4,000 union members that UAW president Shawn Fain just called Donald Trump “a scab.” Walz said that Trump had spent his career “stiffing service workers on his own properties” and opposing increases in the minimum wage.
Walz recounted Trump's recent statement at a gathering of billionaires, “You’re rich as hell and we are going to cut your taxes.” Walz asked, “Who do you know wants to cut taxes on billionaires but opposes raising the minimum?” Walz then put a cherry on top by reviewing the Senate voting record of JD Vance, noting that he is one of only four Senators who “has never cast a vote in favor of a pro-worker bill.”
Walz addressed the manufactured controversy over his military service record by taking the high road, praising everyone who “put on the uniform” to serve our country:
[JD Vance] is attacking me for my record of service. I am proud to serve my country and always will be.  . . . I was a member of the Veterans Affair Committee and a champion of our men and women in uniform. I am damn proud of my service to this country, and I firmly believe you should never denigrate another person’s service record. For anyone brave enough to put on the uniform for our great country, including my opponent, I have just a few simple words: Thank you for your service and sacrifice.
Walz’s earnest delivery on this point is worth watching. See the jump link to the video here: Tim Walz comments on his service in the National Guard.
Walz closed his speech by urging Democrats and union members not to take anything for granted in the 2024 election:
This is going to be a close, tough race. But if each of us does an extra shift, devotes an extra hour, does a little bit more, we get to wake up on the morning after the election and know that the work we did transformed the lives of millions, transformed generations, impacted the world. That’s how it happens. We organize, we donate, we volunteer. . . . We have eighty four days to control our destiny.
It is easy to see why Tim Walz has a net positive (11+) favorability rating—a rating that eclipses every other candidate on the presidential and vice-presidential slates for 2024. JD Vance, by comparison, has a net negative (-9) favorability rating nationally, a rarity for a vice-presidential candidate. Worse (for Vance), among the voters who know him best (in Ohio), Vance holds a negative favorability rating of -16!
The more voters get to know Tim Walz, the more they like him. The opposite is true for JD Vance. Kamala Harris chose well!
UAW sues Trump and Musk for comments made during Trump's Twitter interview
Among the many bizarre occurrences during Musk’s “conversation” with Trump on Twitter, Trump praised Musk for firing workers at Telsa who attempted to unionize. See Newsweek, Donald Trump Cheers Elon Musk Over Firing Workers: 'You're the Greatest!'
During the Twitter conversation, Trump said,
I love it. You're the greatest . . . I mean, I look at what you do. You just walk in and you just say, 'You wanna quit?' They go on strike, I won't mention the name of the company, but they go on strike and you say, 'That's OK, you're all gone . . . Every one of you is gone.'"
Unfortunately for Trump and Musk, it is a violation of federal law to intimidate workers for attempting to organize. On Tuesday, the UAW filed a complaint against both Trump and Musk. The UAW issued a blistering statement along with the complaint:
Under federal law, workers cannot be fired for going on strike, and threatening to do so is illegal under the National Labor Relations Act. “When we say Donald Trump is a scab, this is what we mean. When we say Trump stands against everything our union stands for, this is what we mean,” said UAW President Shawn Fain. “Donald Trump will always side against workers standing up for themselves, and he will always side with billionaires like Elon Musk, who is contributing $45 million a month to a Super PAC to get him elected. Both Trump and Musk want working class people to sit down and shut up, and they laugh about it openly. It’s disgusting, illegal, and totally predictable from these two clowns.”
Ouch! For a hot minute, Trump was courting the labor vote. No more! Although the Teamsters Union declined (last month) to endorse Biden or Trump, the Black Caucus of the Teamsters Union voted on Tuesday (after the Twitter interview) to endorse Kamala Harris. See. Politico, Teamsters' Black caucus defies leadership with Harris endorsement.
So, in an unscripted “interview” with Elon Musk, Trump manages to start a war with organized labor. Meanwhile, Tim Walz is proving his chops as a national campaign surrogate for Kamala Harris. It’s nice when Democratic strengths overlap with Republican weaknesses.

While the Tor project has tried to assure users that the network is safe, the team is calling for more information. Doubts are spreading about who really controls the network's servers.
The Tor network, used for communications and accessing the dark web, is a gold standard for online anonymity, as it bounces encrypted data through a labyrinth of servers worldwide. However, according to a new investigation by public broadcasters in Germany, its users might not be so anonymous after all.
Law enforcement agencies themselves operate servers on Tor and have developed a “timing analysis” technique to cancel out anonymity provided by the network, research conducted by the ARD political magazine Panorama and STRG_F (funk/NDR) reveals. This was once thought to be impossible.
The Tor project responded by saying that previous Onion service deanonymization attempts were possible because they relied on an old version of the long-retired application Ricochet. However, the organization does not have the documents related to the case and is calling for more information from its users.
“Like many of you, we are still left with more questions than answers – but one thing is clear: Tor users can continue to use Tor Browser to access the web securely and anonymously. And the Tor Network is healthy,” the Tor project team said in a blog post.
“For the great majority of users worldwide that need to protect their privacy while browsing the internet, Tor is still the best solution for them.”
