Tag 5 - Halbzeit

Mit Ende von Tag 5 wird die Zeit auf der Baustelle geteilt und ein erstes Resümee gezogen. Schnell ist klar, dass die Jungs und Mädels auf den einzelnen Bauabschnitten richtig Gas gegeben haben und wir vor dem Bauzeitenplan liegen. Dies ist gut, schafft es uns doch in der nächsten Woche zeitlich etwas Spielraum.

Die Sonnenuhr lässt erste Formen erkennen...

Auch die Steinbearbeitung läuft immer noch. Es zeigen sich ungeahnte versteckte Talente...

Auch wurde das erste Fundament für ein Bodenmosaik fertiggestellt, die Herstellung der Kieseleinfassung läuft weiter.

Für das Mosaik im Feldaltar wurde die Platte in eine von unseren Tischlern hergestellten Form gegossen.

Nachmittags ging es dann auf Exkursion ins Umland. Wir besuchten die Firma Biolea und erhielte ein Führung über die Herstellung von Olivenöl. Anschließend konnte das Öl probiert und natürlich auch gekauft werden.

Danach ging es zum ältesten Olivenbaum Europas der zwischen 3.000 bis 5.000 Jahren alt ist. Dort hielt eine Auszubildender ein sehr interessantes Referat über den Olivenbaum.

Den Abschluss machte ein gemeinsamer Besuch des Soldatenfriedhofes in Maleme. Dort liegen 4.400 Soldaten begraben, die bei der Schlacht um Kreta ums Leben kamen. Auch hier hielt ein Auszubildender ein Referat über den Überfall der Wehrmacht auf Kreta im Jahr 1941. Der Besuch war wieder sehr  informativ, aber auch sehr bedrückend und machte viele sehr nachdenklich.

Nun freuen sich alle auf das anstehende Wochenende.

Global Sustain: Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Development Conference

As an official, EU Green Week, Partner Event, Global Sustain and the European Sustainability Academy (ESA) are co-organizing the "Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Day", to be held on May 10, 2019 at the ANEK Lines Conference Center in Chania, Crete.

This event launches a full EU Green Week programme and aims to inform a wide range of people about practical environmental actions in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Development with a focus on the agri-food, tourism, transport and energy sectors.

The effects of climate change have been particularly evident in Crete recently. Responsible management of natural resources, infrastructure and energy has a huge and immediate impact on our lives. It is more necessary than ever to raise awareness of sustainable development, particularly in areas that strengthen the local economy and improve our quality of life.

The event is open to all professionals, organizations and businesses. Representatives of the European Commission and Parliament, political leadership and local government (Ministries, Regions, Municipalities), chambers, scientific and research institutions, institutions etc. are expected to take part.

The conference is under the auspices of the European Commission, the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Chania and the Technical Chamber of Greece and the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania.
