Die 16-jährige Helen lebt mit ihrem Vater auf Nantucket, ihre Mutter verließ die Familie, als Helen noch ein Baby war. Helen hat eine beste Freundin, die Claire Aoki heißt.

Der 1. Teil der Trilogie beginnt damit, dass die reiche Delos Familie in ein Strandhaus zieht, ein paar Kinder von ihnen werden in Helen's Klasse gehen. Helen als Person ist größer, stärker und schneller als die Durchschnittsfrau.

Eines Nachts hat sie einen Albtraum über 3 gruselige Frauen. Als sie aus dem Traum erwacht, hat sie wie in ihrem Traum Schnittwunden an den Beinen.

Am nächsten Tag in der Schule greift Helen Lucas Delos an, weil sie muss, er aber kann sie einfach überwältigen und sie wird von Claire und Matt (Freunde von ihr) ins Krankenzimmer gebracht, wo sie von Lucas' Vater besucht wird, auch er ist ihr gegenüber feindlich eingestellt. In dem Raum ist eine blutige Schwester (Furie), die flüstert und ihren Kopf gegen die Wand knallt.

Helen arbeitet bei Kate im Laden. Dort wird Helen überfallen. Lucas rettet sie, dieser verschwindet aber kurz danach. Helen fährt Kate in die Notaufnahme, weil auch sie attackiert wurde. Dann fährt sie mit Kate's Wagen zum Delos Anwesen, dort hat sie wieder diesen Drang, Lucas zu attackieren, worauf sie wieder nach Hause flüchtet als sie den Kampf verloren hat.

An einem Tag geht Helen einkaufen, dort trifft sie auf Hector (Lucas' cousin) und Lucas, die sie heimschicken, da sie verfolgt wird. Die Mutter von Lucas (Noel) schickt Lebensmittel zu ihr nach Hause.

Auf dem Weg nach Hause wird sie von den Delos angegriffen, sie wollen sie zum Delos Anwesen bringen, Helen kann fliehen und rennt schnell zum Ozean und kann kurzzeitig fliegen. Allerdings hat sie diese Fähigkeit nicht unter Kontrolle und stürzt hinab. Lucas rettet ihr das Leben und bremst den Aufprall ab. Die Delos Familie findet Lucas und Helen schwer verletzt. Helen erfährt, dass auch sie ein Halbgott ist. Bei den Delos wird sie und Lucas geheilt. Nachts humpelt Helen zum verletzten Lucas und schläft mit in seinem Bett.

Am nächsten Morgen erfährt Helen, dass Halbgötter und Götter existieren und die 4 Häuser sich durch die Furien gegenseitig töten müssen.

Lucas fährt Helen nach dem Frühstück nachhause und lernt kurz ihren Vater kennen. In der Schule wird Helen gemieden und über sie wird gelästert.

Hector bringt ihr Kämpfen bei, damit sie sich in ernsten Situationen gegen Angreifer wehren kann.

Hector und dessen Familie wacht nachts über Helens Haus.

Helen versucht sich selbst fliegen beizubringen, scheitert aber. Sie bemerkt, dass sie beobachtet wird, also folgt sie ihrem Beobachter, der sich als Kreon entpuppt. Ein Cousin der Delos Familie. Kreon kann das Licht und die Dunkelheit manipulieren.

Danach kann sie sich bei den Delos waschen und übt dann mit Lucas das Fliegen. Am Abend lädt Noel Jerry zum Abendessen ein. Sie verstehen sich gut.

An einem Tag finden Helen und die Delos Familie heraus, dass Helen nicht mit Waffen verletzt werden kann und sie Blitze erzeugen kann, wenn sie Angst hat. Dann folgt ein sehr unnötiger Streit zwischen Helen und Lucas, weil Helen einfach eine Drama queen ist. Hector hingegen möchte Helen Respekt beibringen und ertränkt Helen fast im Ozean. Helen fliegt danach zu Claire und klärt sie über alles auf. Am Abend fliegt sie alleine zu ihrem Haus zurück, wo Kreon auf sie wartet, um sie umzubringen. Er bricht fast ihr Genick und sticht sie fast ab, sie kann ihn aber mit einem Blitz neutralisieren, sodass Lucas ihn fortjagen kann. Helen geht dann duschen und kuschelt sich bei Lucas ein.

Am nächsten Morgen haben Lucas und Helen eine erneute Flugstunde und sie erfahren, dass Kreon die Insel verlassen hat. Danach hat sie wieder Kampfstunde bei Hector und abschließend gibt es Abendessen. Lucas wacht nachts über sie und schläft draußen auf der Matratze.

Langsam lernt Helen mit ihren Blitzen umzugehen und sie finden heraus, dass ihre Halskette Helen unverwundbar und unwiderstehlich macht und von Aphrodite stammt - ein anderes Haus.

Noel (Lucas’ Mutter) bittet Helen, dass Lucas und Helen sich nicht mehr sehen sollen, denn wenn sie miteinander schlafen, vereinigen sich die Häuser und es gibt Krieg.

Cassandra währenddessen gehört den Parzen und wird immer Kind bleiben. Außerdem hat sie Visionen von der Zukunft.

Helen geht Lucas 9 ½ Tage aus dem Weg und Ariadne übernachtet bei ihr. Sie bindet ihr Glöckchen um die Füße, damit sie aufwacht, wenn Helen das Zimmer verlässt, da sie immer seltsame Träume hat und sie erschöpft und dreckig aufwacht.

Helen fliegt zum Leuchtturm, Lucas ist dort und sie küssen sich und überlegen, wie sie trotzdem zusammen sein können. Lucas bringt Helen nachhause und als er bei sich ankommt warten Jerry, Claire und Kate auf Helen und ihm, um Helens Geburtstag zu feiern. Helen wird bei sich zuhause mithilfe einer Spritze entführt.

Lucas sucht Helen die ganze Nacht während es draußen stürmt und er hört auf Cassandras Visionen, die Helen in einem Hotelzimmer zeigen.

Helen wacht in einem Hotelzimmer auf und der Entführer ist ihre leibliche Mutter Daphne Atreus, die mit Helen die Insel verlassen möchte. Lucas kann Helens Verwandlung durchblicken und sieht die wahre Helen. Als sie aus dem Hotel gehen, werden sie von Kreon angegriffen. Während des Kampfes werden Kreon und Lucas von Matt und Claire mit dem Auto angefahren und alle ergreifen die Flucht mit der verletzten Claire und Matt in Hector's Wagen. Sie kommen bei dem Delos Anwesen an und Jason heilt Claire. Lucas und Helen erfahren, dass sie Cousins sind (vermeintlich, was später nur der Leser erfährt)

Pandora, die Tante von Lucas, entführt Daphne und da erfährt man, dass Helen doch nicht von Ajax (Onkel von Lucas) abstammt. Daphne verwandelt sich zu Pandora und Kreon, der auch am Strand ist, schneidet der echten Pandora die Kehle durch, weil Daphne wie Pandora ausgesehen hat und ihn manipuliert hat, sie hat aber nicht damit gerechnet, dass er ihr gleich die Kehle durchschneidet.

Kreon rennt zum Athenäum und Hector kämpft dort gegen ihn. Helen kommt dazu und vertreibt die Dunkelheit mit ihren Blitzen. Hector bricht Kreon das Genick und Lucas, besessen von den Furien, muss Hector töten. Helen macht Lucas und Hector mit ihren Blitzen kampfunfähig und rettet Hector mit den Blitzen vor seiner Familie.

Am nächsten Morgen taucht Daphne bei den Delos auf und bittet um ein Gespräch. Dort erklärt sie, dass Helen der Deszendent ist, der den Teufelskreis der Rachsucht beenden wird und deshalb jede Nacht in der Unterwelt ist (komische Träume). Daphne schlägt vor, dass Helen von der Delos Familie aufgenommen wird und Hector von Daphne, da Hector jetzt ein Ausgestoßener ist.

Helen wird von Lucas nachhause gebracht. Daphne hebt den Fluch auf und Jerry kann sich wieder verlieben (in Kate). Helen entschuldigt sich bei ihrem Vater, kann ihn aber noch nicht einweihen.

Am Ende des Buches geht Helen schlafen, während Lucas den Sonnenaufgang beobachtet.

Meinung+Bewertung:

Da ich das Buch früher schon gelesen habe, hat dieses Buch einen speziellen Platz in meinem Herzen. Auch wenn ich mich nur an eine Szene erinnern konnte. Das Buch ist mehr für junge teenager geschrieben worden und das merkt man auch. Allerdings habe ich das Buch mit meinen 22 Jahren trotzdem genießen können, es war einfach zu lesen und sehr verständlich.

Trotzdem hat mich Helen als Protagonistin sehr oft aufgeregt, deswegen 2,5 Punkte Abzug. Lucas ist so ein sweetheart und sie checkt einfach nichts haha.

Aber die letzten 100 Seiten waren sooo spannend, loved it!! Ich freue mich sehr auf die anderen 2 Bände.

Also, justice for Joy, she’s amazing, I love her, I hope we get to see her HEA someday too 💖 My March theme comes directly from @mochibujo Patreon journaling kit - Jellyfish Ladies in Space! (There’s no “official” name, but that’s basically the inspiration 💜) I used my Prismacolor pencils to color in some of the phenomenal black-and-white cover page - it just looked too stark in my journal without the color - and various @notebook_therapy washi from mostly the Moonlit Alchemy set on the tabs (I really liked how the gray-toned lavender tapes complemented but didn’t distract from Hedda’s design - also, the @archerandolive Heliotrope Calliograph brush pen I used for the headers I lettered was an exact match to the purple in the kit💜) The three photographs are pictures I took of the jellyfish at the @montereybayaquarium on a trip in 2019. 📸 Part of why February was a great reading month was due to #blackathon2023 hosted by @jesseonyoutube_ 💕💕 I knocked out my 6th book with 2 minutes to go in the month to complete my #teamoshun prompts 🎉 And finally - in a little life update, I have hip surgery scheduled for Friday 🙃 so I have a week of CHG showers and mupriocin to put in my nose twice daily. i just began my second reading of all for the game (i just reached the first dinner with abby so sorry if i’m miss remembering what is coming, BUT)

i thought when people said on the second pass it became a slow burn they were being intense. we’ve all seen shippers go nuts over nothing just because they see what they want to see (i’ve done it myself) but it actually becomes a slow burn??? it also becomes so fucking sad.

maybe it’s me being me but reading neil think andrew was being an asshole for joking about snooping on his files? i mean andrew IS mostly an asshole but when he sees neil panick/rage and he immediately tells him he never read them? that he respected his privacy? he even tells neil the thought process to try and prove it. he’s not nice about it but i found it so sweet in his own way? at this point he doesn’t like neil at all (maybe a little bit?) but he still tries to prove to this asshole kevin insisted on bringing to the team that he’s respecting his boundaries? yes he does go through neils things (and drugs him) but i’m fairly sure it’s only because he truly believes neil might be a serious threat for kevin and the team.

i just love reading andrew being andrew now that i know who he is and seeing all this little things that had no sense. he’sjust a broken child trying his best to keep the ones he loves safe

•September 2022 Wrap Up•

I think I am still in a slump. I want to read and I'm in the middle of several books but I want to do other stuff and read and I can't make up my mind on what I want to do. Did that make any sense?

I did complete 4 books in September which all I'm very happy I read.

My favorite was The Ballad of Never After. I keep getting the urge to reread all of Stephanie Garber's books.

I also want to reread Kingdom of the Wicked and Kingdom of the Cursed to be ready for book 3.

See! So much I want to read! But I don't want to stop what I am reading. Ah bookworm problems.

I started this Bookjournal at the beginning of the year and I have never been more impressed by how much it motivates me to read more - And one book at a time.

The fact that I only write in there with my glass pen makes it feel even more special. I'm not taking it anywhere. It stays here in a shelf and I only take it out to update it.

I just hope that I keep up with it. So far I'm two books in and I really really like it.

Die Trilogie beginnt damit, dass die Protagonistin Olivia Silber (Spitzname “Liv”) mit ihrer Mutter und Schwester Mia nach London zieht, da ihre Mutter dort einen Lehrauftrag bekommen hat. Außerdem hat die Mutter einen neuen Freund Ernest Spencer. 

Liv und Mia gehen auf die selbe Schule. Am 1. Schultag wird Liv von Persephone herum geführt und trifft währenddessen auf blonde Mitschüler (die später noch wichtig werden).

Später sind Liv und Mia bei Ernest zum Abendessen eingeladen, dort wird verkündet, dass die Silber Familie bei den Spencers einziehen soll. Grayson (einer der Blonden) gibt Liv einen Pullover von ihm und Florence, Graysons Zwillingsschwester, stellt sich gegen den Einzug. 

-Traum-: Liv träumt von einem Friedhof und sieht dort die 4 blonden Jungs aus der Schule. Grayson bittet sie, den Traum zu verlassen. Anstelledessen unterbricht sie das Ritual der Jungs und wacht auf.

Am nächsten Tag wird sie von den blonden Jungs angesprochen und sie ist verwirrt. Es gibt also in dieser Trilogie eine Traumwelt und man kann Träumen von anderen betreten.

Liv wird von den Jungs auf eine Party eingeladen, Grayson ist dagegen und möchte schnell seinen Pullover zurück haben und möchte nicht, dass sie auf die Party geht. Sie geht mit Graysons Pulli schlafen und betritt dadurch seinen Traum, in welchem er bei einem Basketball Spiel versagt. (Der Pullover ist ein random Schlüsselobjekt, was Liv dazu befugt, Graysons Träume zu betreten. Allgemein braucht man nur ein Objekt, das jemand anderen gehört, um Träume zu betreten) Henry, love interest und einer der boys, holt sie aus seinem Traum und Liv und er halten im Korridor (Zugang zu allen Träumenden) Händchen während sie ein wenig laufen. Auch er möchte nicht, dass Liv auf die Party geht.

Zur Analyse führt Liv ein Traumtagebuch, in dem sie dokumentiert, wann sie wie träumt (mit/ohne Pullover an etc.)

Im nächsten Traum trifft sie auf Anabel Scott, Arthur's Freundin, die ihr von einem Ritual mit dem Nacht Dämon erzählt. Dieses Ritual hat sie mit den blonden Jungs letztes Halloween durchgeführt. 

Später ist noch ein Besuch bei den Spencers. Dort lernt Lottie (Kindermädchen von Liv und Mia) Charles kennen - Bruder von Ernest und sie entwickelt einen crush auf ihn (wird vielleicht noch relevant?)

Auf der Party: Liv wird zum Kinosaal im Keller geführt und sie stimmt zu, dass sie Teil des Rituals wird, da die Jungs vermeintlich eine Jungfrau brauchen. Graysons bringt Liv nachhause, um seinen Pulli zurück zu bekommen. Er erzählt ihr von seinem Wunsch, den er bei dem Ritual geäußert hat. Und zwar ist Graysons Mutter an der vererbbarer Huntington Krankheit gestorben und er hat sich gewünscht, dass er und Florence gesund sind. 

-Traum-: Henry beschützt Liv vor Mobbern (flashback aus ihrer alten Schule), dann gehen sie in einen Park und reden über den Nacht Dämon. Am Ende folgt ein Kuss (<333)

In der Schule sind Florence und Emily (Freundin von Grayson) dabei, als Sam (“Pickel-Sam”) Liv fragt, ob sie mit ihm auf den Herbstball gehen möchte. Henry unterbricht und meint, dass er mit ihr gehen wird. 

Daraufhin folgt der Umzug und die Vorbereitung auf das Ritual.

Bei Jasper und während des Rituals wünscht sich Liv, dass Dämonen nicht existieren und niemanden schaden sollen (wird in #2 und #3 sicher noch relevant)

-Traum-: Liv geht in Anabels Tür/Traum und sieht wie Anabels Hund stirbt. Er war der Pfand für das Spielregelnbrechen, Anabel hat ihre Jungfräulichkeit während der Frist mit dem Dämon verloren und ist Arthur fremd gegangen. Henry und Liv werden im Korridor verfolgt und sie gehen in Amy’s Traum (Schwester von Henry). Sie setzen sich unter einen Apfelbaum und reden über Arthur und Tom (Anabels verstorbener Ex-Freund). Plötzlich verschwindet Henry und Liv stürzt in die Tiefe, da Henry und Amy aufgewacht sind. Danach kam Henry für ein paar Tage nicht zur Schule. (wird bestimmt auch noch relevant)

Florence plant Liv’s 16. Geburtstag und hat viele Leute aus der Schule eingeladen. Während dem Picknick/der Feier gehen Henry und Liv ein wenig spazieren und küssen sich erneut. Sie reden auch über Arthur und Liv fasst den Entschluss, Arthur im Traum zu besuchen. 

-Arthur's Traum-: Arthur will Anabels im Traum opfern, damit der Nacht Dämon zufrieden gestellt wird. Nach dieser Information werden sie von einem großen Hund angegriffen und Liv wacht durch ihre eigene Hündin auf. 

Herbstball: Anabel und Arthur verlassen früh den Ball. Liv folgt ihnen in einem Taxi, um das Opfern zu stoppen. Sie folgt ihnen bis zum Friedhof in eine Gruft. Liv greift Arthur an und tritt ihn bewusstlos. Anabel knockt Liv aus. Als Liv aufwacht wird der plot twist beschrieben: Anabel will Liv an den Nacht Dämon opfern (also umbringen). Zum Glück retten Henry und Grayson Liv und Anabel wird in eine Psychiatrie eingewiesen.

-Amy’s Traum-: Henry und Liv küssen sich und er gibt ihr den mittleren von 3 Schlüsseln zu seiner Tür/Träumen. Henry erzählt ihr, dass sie sein Herzenswunsch ist und sie verlassen den Traum. Im Korridor treffen beide auf Anabel, die droht, dass dies nur der Anfang sei und damit endet der 1. Teil der Trilogie.

Meinung+Bewertung:

8,5/10

Ich fand den 1. Teil dieser Trilogie sehr unterhaltsam. Es ist einfach zu lesen, da es offensichtlich für teenager geschrieben wurde. Trotzdem konnte ich es genießen und ich habe mein Herz an Henry verloren. Liv is so lucky.

Die Story/lore ist auch sehr einfach zu verstehen und der Schreibstil ist angenehm einfach! Ich hätte beim Lesen der Rückseite (mir fehlt der Begriff) nicht gedacht, dass es um einen Dämon gehen würde. Aber das ist nichts negatives.

Meine Motivation zum Lesen ist auch zurück. Durch das Fehlen dieser kommt erst jetzt ein neuer Post. :D

New month, new journal pages! I finished out January with 14 books read - standouts were Georgie, All Along by @kateclayborn.author, What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Fat by @yrfatfriend, and The Birchbark House by Louise Erdrich (which had an outstanding audiobook production). I love how colorful my bookshelf turned out 💙 And onto February with these beautiful pinks inspired by @mochibujo February Patreon kit 💖💖💖 Hedda’s setup also inspired me to try waterfall tabs instead of my file-folder style tabs and I really love how it turned out. I might keep using these style tabs here on out 😻 All the washi tapes are from Notebook Therapy (Moonlit Blush, Winter Moonflower, and Vintage Rose 2) and some of the extra rose stickers are from The Washi Tape Shop. (Had a little trouble with the drop-shadows on playlist/habits so that turned into a colorblock 😹) I also added a new challenge spread to my collections journal - Blackathon hosted by Jesse @bowtiesandbooks is this month!!
