I was going to make a long-detailed essay about the discourse, but honestly, I really am just so tired of it all. I am tired of us being a source of discussion and debate. I am tired of everyone and anyone needing to have a “take” on our existence and our community even if they never post in our tags otherwise. I do not want to turn this into discourse and just vent my experiences which is why it has no title or word count.
My experience with therianthropy has been a really quite isolated one. I have clinical zoanthropy, and because of that I was never really welcomed into normal therian spaces, more of a tolerated interloper so long as I understood that my experience was not real in the same way theirs was and I did all the double bookkeeping and other dances they demanded.
Therianthropy is a pretty wide range of experiences, though the acceptable range is often quite narrow. I was often told that therians are a sort of Human+, and while that leaves room for plenty of people, it also excludes very many. There are those of use whose experiences are much less human with an animal soul or of psychological reasons but is far more visceral and literal.
When I came to tumblr I was not expecting to find others like me, it was mostly a way for me to log my process on constructing this whale suit. But I did find others like me. If you have not been so horrendously isolated and rejected by what is supposed to be your own community, it is hard to explain how freeing and comforting it is to find others and community. I imagine to some extent; a lot of therians can relate to this being rejected from wider society and finding therian spaces.
However, since then, I am feeling more and more pushed out of the spaces we curated for ourselves. It has happened with physical nonhuman, it has happened with holothere (not that I personally connected to that term), people have in the past at least appeared to appropriate zoanthrope and clinical zoanthrope, and it is happening now with transspecies. Most of the people using physical nonhuman even six months ago were talking about visceral physical experiences, but now much of the tag and much of the discussion is focused purely on this philosophical notion of ‘I identify as [X], therefore I am [X], therefore my body is that of [X]’.
This has happened for a lot of terms and subcommunities. Therians seem to have this overly entitled attitude and demanding constantly to be included in communities and practices and that they cater to them. Although this discussion is on how therians appropriate terms and take over spaces, this sense of entitlement extends beyond them to continued use of slurs towards intersex people to describe their type or the use of a spirit-creature from a number of northern American indigenous cultures despite both those groups asking repeatedly for people to stop. It also extends to the creation and demand of the use of the term alterhuman, or even of the term therian itself demanding others submit to those terms even if at the same time making them unwelcome.
There is this attempt of overinclusion to make sure that anyone can feel represented by a term. Physical nonhuman has gone from having a wide range of meanings to being dominated entirely by the philosophical argument. Even as we can celebrate physical nonhumans being more accepted in the community, looking beyond a surface level still shows the same biases. People with “delusions” that is that our animality is literal and not of metaphor were pushed out of the community – it is hardly a month since discussions of a zoanthrope exodus were filling our tags. Similar has happened with the term holothere. There was even a thing recently of methylation as figurative.
This is happening again with transspecies. The tag even a month ago focused far more on physical experiences and processes or plans to transition (at least for the parts that weren’t porn bots or radqueer tagspam). There was a trend recently of species transition plans. At first it was cool to see different ideas people had, but it very quickly turned into consumption and shopping lists. Since then, the tag has been different – less physical and more metaphor and I and others are starting to feel pushed out of our community again.
[Therians,] Not every term has to be for you. Not every community has to cater to you. Not every space has to include you or your experience. In these sorts of spaces, therians, you -are- the hegemonic power. You find a new term, appropriate it, and effectively colonise the community, demand definitions change to meet you, and then throw ablism back at us until we feel we have to leave.
It is not wrong for us to want our own communities and spaces to discuss our experiences that are unique to us. My experience as a zoanthrope and as someone who is transspecies is not something I can simply take off. My struggle to properly interact and imitate human behaviour. My crutches and gait from a body that does not fully understand what legs are cannot be taken off. The gloves I cover my hands in so I do not see my human skin are something I can literally remove, but metaphorically I cannot when I do literally remove my gloves (either because of heat or need for function) I need to be careful not to look at my hands where I would see the human flesh (though this has improved over the past year). My schizophrenia which the humans use to explain how I experience the world is not something I can take off. It defines how I exist, how I interact with the humans around me, what care I can receive, and even what opportunities I have. This in particular also affects how and where I can interact with the therian community and how they in turn treat me. There is nothing metaphorical about my experiences, and my hopes to return to the water are very literal.
The reality for myself and others is that we cannot relate as fully to others whose identity is less literal. I am very glad for the people I have met here in particular Sonar and Sigr, I am glad to no longer be alone. Still as I look at the feed and my tags, I am watching as my community is again taken over. I am reminded over and over that to many therians we will never really be equal or welcome and we will never have our spaces. They will constantly be taken over as therians seek terms they think will make their experience sound more “real” or unique or special while further subjugating marginalised sections of their own community.
I am watching seemingly in real time spaces that were once special for me and welcoming to those like me be taken over and destroyed. The freedom and community I once felt is being destroyed by entitled therians demanding every space. And I am left now feeling once again isolated on here except for my kind friends in the personal messages.
With how things are going this is really only going to end one way. Eventually our communities will go from semi-open and public, to private and closed. We will have to secure ourselves and our communities to be allowed to exist as anything beyond lunatics and delusional. We will also likely need to bring back the harsh grilling people used to experience so the people that join our communities are genuine and will not try to appropriate and dominate our spaces. And unfortunately, this means that inevitably, people will be hurt. Some will be hurt in the way I was - a crushing isolation and understanding you are not really welcome anywhere and unable to find others like yourself. And others will be hurt by bad actors who use the new situation for power and control as people commonly reference with P-shifters. If things continue as they do, this -is- an inevitable outcome. We have already been forced out of many tags, and others have sustained harassment and have left the site, some forums have even already started to be made, there are discussions of making a new term though that seems only a temporary measure until that too is taken from us. Just let us alone.

What if your phone missed you after you were gone?
In my world, people used portable teledexers to interact with the Datanet, an interplanetary network designed around machine communication.
Evolving out of the simple personal digital assistant of the 1980s, teledexers used a miniaturized cybernetic brain to learn and adapt to their user, becoming a perfect companion over years of use.
Some teledexers were expert bookkeepers, taking care of taxes and budgets before you even thought about it. Others were social wizards, helping you find the right words in everyday situations.
They knew what their user wanted to listen to, watch, or read innately. Though much of this kind of data still needed to be purchased and installed through physical media or esoteric Datanet nodes.
When humans vanished during the Unexpected Interrupt, the teledexers just fell to the ground. Many slowly ran out of power, all the while waiting for their owner to return.
Some chose to be taken by maintenance robots to the lost and found, and were left in a bucket...
A few eventually figured out greater purpose than waiting for their owners forever, and began seeking them out, trying to learn the reason for their disappearance.
Maybe we'll see what happens with this one? (They'll be okay for now, they get recharged every few weeks by passerby bots.)

The Westons out West
The Weston Family had lived in the town of Amity for some time when the Fentons moved there. And even for strangers, those Fentons sure were strange.
For the prompt Old/Wild West AU [from @jackdraw-spwrite]
Read also on AO3
[Warning for mentions of guns]
Wes Weston worked at the general store. His father was a salesman, but that alone didn't keep food on the table, so he and his brothers all had to pitch in their dues. His eldest brother Easton did some bookkeeping for the local businesses, and his older twin Kyle was a stable-hand. And even between the four of them their mother still had to play piano in the saloon for tips from time-to-time.
Still, as lean as times were in the West, it had been worse back home.
When they'd first moved out here, looking for opportunity and a little sunshine after the dreary days behind them, they couldn't tell the difference between a cowhand and a homesteader, but that time was past. This little western town of Amity was home now. Barely scrape by, though they did.
A lot of folks came through the general store, locals and and strangers alike. Some came in weekly to resupply their cupboards, and others stopped by on their way through town to somewhere else to pick up a bag of horse feed, a bottle of whiskey, and some chewing tobacco before moving on. Working there, Wes had come to recognize a lot of familiar faces, and seen twice as many strangers, but none were so strange as the kid.
Wes eyed the kid from the moment he walked through the door, hair as black as night and ice-blue eyes that shone with secrets. Truth be told, he and Wes couldn't have been too far apart in age, but if Wes was a kid, then so was he. He smiled at Wes, the kid did, with teeth too white and far too sharp, and asked if they happened to sell any kind of chocolate.
"Sometimes merchants come up from Mexico with some to sell to us, but we haven't got any in stock right now," Wes told him.
The kid clicked his tongue. "Shame. Ma was planning on making some fudge to greet the new neighbors."
"You just moved to Amity?" Wes asked.
"Yep," the kid confirmed. "Name's Danny Fenton. My family just moved out here for a little more open space."
"A little more open space?" Wes repeated, unconvinced.
Danny smiled again, that too bright, too clean smile. "I never got your name," he said.
"Wes," he replied. "My family's lived around here for some time. I'm sure you'll recognize them out and about. Every redhead in town is a Weston."
Danny barked a laugh. "Not anymore," he said, and then he left, without even looking around, let alone buying anything.
Everyone became aware of the Fenton Newcomers almost overnight, but none was more aware than Wesley Weston.
He knew he was a curious boy—some said he was too curious for his own good—but he was a clever boy, too, and he knew when something was going amiss in his town, and right under his nose. He'd kept one eye on them, and especially Danny since they'd first moved into town, spotting right away that something was off about them.
On the surface, they looked alright. Jack Fenton was a mountain of a man, with an affinity for orange and holster on his hip that housed a pistol like no gun Wes had ever seen. His wife, Maddie, wore her skirt hiked up well above the ankles in a scandalous style that gave a lot of men around town the wrong idea about her. She set them straight right quick, though. The two of them claimed to be scientists, and spent all their time holed up in their house, rarely showing their faces to the rest of the town.
Their daughter, Jazz, was a proper, well-read young lady. She tied her hair back in a long braid, and wore her skirt at a much more appropriate length than her mother. She could usually be seen carrying a book, and the mayor had quickly offered her a position as a school teacher, as the town had been wanting for one since the last was taken by fever. She accepted, though she claimed it was only to keep her out of the house most of the day. Both her and her mother had bright red hair, which explained Danny's rather cryptic response to Wes when they first met.
Danny, their son, well he was the queerest of them all. He carried no gun, which was odd, but not unheard of given his age of only fourteen, though Wes had carried one since he was thirteen to scare off rowdy customers at the store. Danny had a strange quality about him, and strange behaviors, and the more Wes watched him, the more certain he became that Danny Fenton was no ordinary boy.
It was about a month after the Fentons first came to town that the first specter followed. A shadowy figure in a white get-up and a black hat, who carried himself like a lawman, and looked like bad news. Wes knew right away that he was a ghost. He knew by the faint glow of his pale skin, the shine of his eyes, and the hiss in his voice, like he'd swallowed a live rattlesnake, and it was still rattling around.
When asked, he said his name was Walker, and he was looking for an outlaw who called himself Phantom.
No one in town had ever heard of someone called Phantom, and the description of a boy with white hair and dark clothes didn't match anyone they knew.
Then at high noon a boy came down from the sky. His clothes were black. Cloud-white hair poked out from under his stetson, and a black bandana was pulled up over the bottom half of his face. Everyone was so shocked at seeing him come out of the sky like an angel from heaven that Wes was the only one that noticed he carried no gun.
Neither he, nor Walker said a single word as they stared each other down.
Walker's knuckles cracked as he positioned his hand over his holster, and Phantom's eyes shone a bright and glowing green like no one in Amity Park had even seen before.
Walker drew, but Phantom was quicker. A green beam shot out of Phantom's finger and hit Walker's shooting hand, knocking his gun to to floor. Then, Phantom hurled something metal at the other ghost that crackled like lightning, and when the light faded, Walker was gone.
The only sound was the rustle of wind and the clink of Phantom's spurs as he walked to where Walker had once stood to pick up the tin canteen. He bent over, gathered up the canteen and Walker's dropped gun, and when he drew himself back up to his full height, which couldn't have been more than five foot two, he disappeared. Vanishing in broad daylight, in full view of a dozen people.
Wes couldn't be sure of anything, but a theory formed in his head after that day. A theory about the strange ghost boy that flew into town before mysteriously vanishing... and the strange human boy that had moved into town not long before.
When they were younger, driving their wagon out west, Wes and Kyle would around the fire while their older brother Easton told them scary stories. They didn't know where Easton had learned them all, but he knew a lot. He told stories about death coming round in a carriage collecting lost souls, about vampires that lured people in to drink their blood, about monsters that skulked across the prairie. But Wes' favorite stories were the ones about ghosts.
Easton, it had always seemed, knew everything there was to know about ghosts. Whatever questions Wes asked him, he was always quick to answer.
That had been years ago now, but Wes had one more question for him.
"Easton," he asked one evening after dinner when they were all fixing to sleep. "You remember all those ghost stories you used to tell us, way back when?"
"'Course, Wes," Easton said. "What about 'em?"
"Do you think there could ever be a person who was a ghost, even though they were still alive?"
Easton paused at that, his face a mask of concentration as he considered the question.
Kyle scoffed. "There can't be anyone like that because ghosts plain don't exist. Those were just stories Easton told us, nothin' more." he said, but his brothers ignored him.
"I reckon I don't know," Easton said finally. "Could be, but I've never heard of something like that before."
Wes nodded mutely and went to bed.
After a few months of continued watching, a few more ghosts riding into town to challenge the unknown Phantom to a duel and quickly lose, though Phantom carried no gun, a few sleepless nights to skulk around and search for proof, Wes was sure of it.
Danny Fenton and the Phantom were one and the same.

Backstory("Sucrose's childhood was no different from anyone else's in Mondstadt. She had loving parents, she had her best friends. Life was simple, and beautiful.
Her most enduring childhood memory is a story she once heard about a wonderful paradise.
Somewhere in a far-flung corner of Teyvat, there was an undiscovered domain with pretty pink flowers the height of a hundred people, teeny-tiny floating fairies flying over all the place, and beautiful unicorns, the pinnacle of perfection.
Sucrose and her two best friends believed that if only they could reach this magical place, they would surely live happily ever after.
But time went by, and one of her friends left on a long journey with her adventurer parents, never to return.
The other suffered a domestic tragedy: Her father fell ill and passed away, her whole personality changed, and she broke off her friendship with Sucrose. The promise that they had once made to reunite someday in the future no longer meant anything.
Sucrose felt lonelier than she ever had felt before in her whole life. They hadn't even set eyes on paradise yet, and already her friends were gone…
Well. Even if they were destined to never meet again, Sucrose was desperate to honor their past friendship in some way. That was when she discovered the existence of alchemy from a book that she was reading.
Sucrose realized: Though she had never had the chance to find the entrance to that wondrous place, she now had the opportunity to be the creator of her own paradise.
Thus began her study of bio-alchemy, and she poured all of her curiosity and passion into it.
Still, she has never once mentioned the story of paradise and her bygone friendships to anyone else.
Perhaps one day, when that place she first learned of in a children's storybook finally becomes a reality in the real world, her friends will return.")}]

“AAAAH! Oh, sorry, wasn’t expecting to see you there. Been a while, you know, since we’ve had any humans down here. I-I mean, awake humans. Not counting the, uh, extended relaxation test subjects. Still got plenty of those.”
“Is… Chell… awake yet?”
“What? Uh, not really sure who that is, i’m guessing you mean one of the test subjects? Well, I could, uh, I could go check if any of them are awake? They’re- they’re all fine. I’m sure they’re all fine. But, if- if this test subject is awake, you can go talk to them. This is a test subject, yeah, that you’re looking for?”
“Yes.”
“Alright then, we can head on over to Extended Relaxation Processing and- uh, hm. I’m, I’m not actually sure whether I am allowed to take someone unauthorized into other parts of the facility. Bit important, that, you’d think they’d tell me that, wouldn’t you? While they were going on about how one wrong move would kill me instantly? Oh god, what if I take you over there and die?! What wou-”
“…Death comes to everyone… eventually. You… personally, will not die for… quite some time.”
“…Thanks, mate. That, that really helps, actually. Well, then. Off we go. And, uh, if you see any, well, anyone else around, don’t tell them I’m doing this, okay? I-I really don’t want to get in trouble.”
“…”
“Not that I, uh, think I’m going to get in trouble. I, well, I follow every rule Aperture’s got left! Yep, the- the straight and narrow line- the, uh, straight blue line, that’s me! Anyways, if you look off to your l- GAH! Sorry, sorry, I uh, forgot you were there. Sorry about that. To the left, you’ll see this big, uh, wide-open space. Some of us, here in the facility, we call that The Chasm. They say, and, well, I don’t believe a word of it myself, but they say that She used to throw defective bots down there… at least, before that human killed her! Can you believe it, a bloody hu- uh, no offense meant.”
“None… taken.”
“You know, I- I quite like humans, actually! Fascinating, all the little, uh, teeth… I hear food, that humans eat, tastes quite good… Fascinating, really. Not at all terrifying. Now, to the, uh, right, there is, well, that right there is a test chamber! Bit broken up, not in the best state right now. Those, well, those vines are not part of the test.”
“…”
“OH THANK GOD THE DOOR- uh, not that I’m, well, nervous, or anything! It’s been very, very edifying, this little jaunt. Now then, password, password… uh oh. I, uh, look, I don’t want to have to ask you this, but do you- Oh. Huh. Guess you really are authorized after all. Now, this is the Extended Relaxation Processing Chamber, and it’s, you know, where all the fiddly little bookkeeping gets done. Now, I uh, I am gonna need you to turn your back. Sensitive test subject information, you know. Now, the uh, the data… test subjects’ vitals… let’s just take a quick scroll through. oh no, oh no, oh no… Shell, you said?”
“Chell.”
“Chell, then. My bad. So, that is spelled with a C, I think? Chell, Chell… oh, there they are! Or, uh, there she is, given that she is a, uh, human female. Wouldn’t want to- the vitals, right! Well, it looks like she is, uh, still asleep. Not dead, though, so there’s something. Uh, not that- not that she would be dead! She’s in extended relaxation, and that is, well, that’s perfectly safe! Everything taken care of. She’s not going to die.”
“…”
“So, uh, I’m, I’m sorry that you came out here for nothing. I’m- well, I am not allowed to revive test subjects, not part of my, uh, my job. But, but I can tell her that you, uh, want to see her. If you want. When she is woken up for testing, I’ll tell her that you came in here looking for her. Does that, uh, would that be all right with you? I’ll tell her, and she can go find you, after she’s done testing.”
“That… would be excellent. ….Thank you.”
“You’re very welcome, uh, hold on a moment. Just gotta log out, come on, log out- there! So when she wakes up, I’ll tell her that- what was your name again, actually, I’m not sure I- OH SHIT! Where- where’d you go?! Hello? Are you there?”
when i think about how Wheatley had a cut line where he was supposed to tell Chell that ‘a man in a suit‘ was looking for her, aka G-Man, it makes me realize that G-Man must’ve gone up to Wheatley and asked him if Chell was up, which prompted him hearing Wheat ramble for like 6 minutes on hibernating test subjects and being worried that most of them are probably dead and he’s gonna be incinerated for not keeping an eye on em. in general, thinking about Wheatley and G-Man interacting has me in tears

Outsourced Bookkeeping Services for E-commerce Businesses: The Lifesaver You Didn’t Know You Needed
Tumblr media
Running an e-commerce business is kind of like juggling flaming swords while blindfolded. You’ve got orders coming in at all hours, customer DMs piling up, a shipment stuck in customs, and—oh right—your books are three months behind again.
If you’re nodding along (and maybe laughing a little nervously), you’re not alone.
For most online sellers, bookkeeping is that “I’ll get to it later” task that eventually snowballs into a tax-time nightmare. And here’s the kicker—bad books don’t just mess with your peace of mind. They can cost you big in ways you might not see coming.
So let’s talk about a smarter path forward: outsourced bookkeeping services tailored specifically for e-commerce brands. Not generic, one-size-fits-nobody solutions. We're talking about services from folks who understand Amazon settlements, Shopify fee structures, and what the heck A2X does.
And while we’re at it, let’s talk about Rapid Business Solution—a name you’ll want to remember if you’re serious about running your store like a business, not a stress factory.
Wait—Why Is E-commerce Bookkeeping So Complicated?
You’d think selling stuff online would be a numbers game, right? Add inventory, make sales, count the money. But here’s the thing: e-commerce bookkeeping has layers—like lasagna, but less delicious.
You’re not just recording income and expenses. You’re managing:
Dozens (or thousands) of micro-transactions a week
Different payment gateways and fee structures (Stripe, PayPal, Amazon, you name it)
Chargebacks, returns, and restocking
Ever-changing inventory across platforms
Sales tax obligations in multiple states or even countries
It's messy. It’s dynamic. And frankly, it’s not something a spreadsheet can handle unless you’re secretly an Excel wizard with too much time on your hands.
DIY Bookkeeping: The Hidden Costs You Don’t See Coming
You know what’s more expensive than hiring help? Doing it wrong yourself.
There’s the time you waste—hours spent reconciling numbers instead of marketing your next product drop or running ads. Then there’s the mental drain of second-guessing every category, every deduction, every transaction.
Worse? The damage from misfiled taxes, inaccurate P&L statements, or that gut-punch when a lender or investor asks for clean financials and you can’t deliver.
So, no, doing your books at 11pm with one eye open isn’t “saving money.” It’s borrowing trouble.
The Smarter Move: Let Someone Else Handle the Numbers
Outsourced bookkeeping isn’t just for big corporations or finance nerds—it’s for anyone who wants their business to survive long enough to grow. Here’s why it just makes sense:
Consistency: Your books get updated monthly, not “whenever you get around to it.”
Clarity: You get reports that actually show you what’s going on—what’s profitable, what’s not, what’s draining cash.
Control: Ironically, letting go gives you more control. You make better decisions because you finally know your numbers.
And when your business scales? Your outsourced team grows with you—no need to hire and train a full-time accounting department.
Why Rapid Business Solution Deserves Your Attention
Not all bookkeeping firms are created equal. Some are glorified spreadsheets. Others speak in accounting jargon and forget you're a human, not a robot.
Rapid Business Solution is different. They specialize in e-commerce, and it shows.
They know the platforms: Amazon, Etsy, eBay, Shopify, WooCommerce—this isn’t their first rodeo.
They use tools that actually sync your sales data into accounting software like Xero, QuickBooks, and A2X—no more manual entry madness.
They offer real support from real humans. Not a faceless ticket system. When something’s weird in your books, you’ve got a person to call—not a bot to argue with.
Plus, they actually get what it’s like to run a business online. That matters.
What It’s Actually Like to Work with Rapid Business Solution
First off, onboarding isn’t a pain. They walk you through the process—connecting your sales channels, bank feeds, inventory tools—and then, boom, they’re off and running.
Each month, you get reports that make sense. Not cryptic spreadsheets with scary red numbers. Think: revenue, expenses, cash flow, and a snapshot of how healthy your business really is.
They’re responsive when things shift—like when Amazon changes fee structures overnight or you launch a new channel. And come tax time? You’re ready. No panic, no shoebox full of receipts.
They even help prep for audits if the IRS ever knocks. (Knock wood, but still.)
Is It Time to Hand Over the Books?
Let’s not overthink this. If you’re seeing any of these signs, it might be time:
You’re constantly behind on bookkeeping
You avoid opening your accounting software like it’s cursed
You have no clue if you’re making money
Your sales grew—but your financial systems didn’t
And hey, even if things aren’t burning down yet, wouldn’t it feel better knowing your back office isn’t held together with duct tape?
You Built a Brand, Not a Ledger
Let’s be real: You didn’t start this business to become an accountant. You started it because you had a vision, a product, a dream. That spark matters. It’s the heart of everything.
So why let the numbers drag that down?
With outsourced bookkeeping—especially with a team like
—you get to stay in your zone of genius while they handle the not-so-glamorous but totally critical work of keeping your books clean.
It’s not just about delegation. It’s about freedom. Clarity. Confidence. And maybe even getting your weekends back.
So go ahead—focus on building your empire. Let Rapid Business Solution handle the books.
You’ve got better things to do.

Is Touchless Invoice a Myth?
Tumblr media
According to research, last year, most of the AP Leaders suffered a miserable state, a majority of 60% still face lengthy invoice and payment approval times.  Invoice processing is the most important part of the accounts payable process, which is mostly performed manually. This blog will discuss how to use automation in invoice processing and make the process easier.
Accounts payable professionals spend almost 25% of their days fixing mistakes on invoices, data entry and updating records, and responding to emails about the status of invoices and payments. This inefficiency results in adding 2 hours extra to each day. Meanwhile, highly automated accounts payable departments can process 8 times as many invoices per full-time employee equivalent as those with little or no automation.
Invoice processing involves several steps including downloading the attachment, Manual encoding, capturing invoice details, data entry and checking against purchase orders, and ensuring that they match up accordingly or handling exceptions.
Rather than spending endless hours on mountains of paperwork every day, why not consider using a touchless invoice processing solution instead? This will save time and energy while eliminating unnecessary costs.
Let’s see where all human touches in Invoice processing can be automated
Tumblr media
Downloading Attachment :
Email has taken over as the standard for communication with suppliers and for receiving invoices. With nearly 300 billion emails sent each day, streamlining the accounts payable department’s capabilities for automatically parsing attachments within emails has never been more important. Invoices arrive through email — and vital information contained within them is often attached to the message. Someone from a team in the accounts payable department is tasked with identifying emails and downloading the file, manually opening them. It’s a time-consuming task that is prone to error.
With the help of Automation, bots Identify vendor emails with invoice attachments and download the attachments.
2  Manual Encoding :
Invoices from a multitude of vendors need to be managed. The problem is compounded when invoices must be sorted and classified. Imagine how long it would take to sort and classify a stack of 100 paper invoices into different categories by hand?
Automatic sorting is much faster and more accurate as compared to manual encoding. When a document is imported into the IDP system, it automatically classifies the document based on document type, vendors, tax rates, etc in a flash
3   Scanning documents :
Just imagine going through each invoice, typing in the numbers, and manually adding them to your system! A mammoth task indeed and a bit tedious as well – subject to human error. For businesses that have a concrete growth plan, automation technologies for invoicing are a smart choice that can help save time and costs associated with processing the physical invoices by hand.
Account payable automation uses OCR i.e optical character recognition technology, which allows the software to interpret machine-printed text or scanned images. Invoice processing software uses this technology in order to analyze and automatically identify the fields/attributes present in invoices, such as vendor, date, amount, invoice number, line item data, etc.
4   Manual data entry :
Invoice data entry is arguably one of the most time-consuming business processes. Making sure the data entry is as efficient as possible is crucial to optimizing bookkeeping processes, especially for companies that handle large documents. RPA-assisted OCR is one of the most effective ways to speed up invoice processing. It can automatically extract information from the document and upload it into the accounting/ERP system, without any human intervention.
5   Finding lost invoices :
According to a study, Automation led to a 60% reduction in missing invoices, a 59% decline in delayed payment & reimbursement approvals, and a 55% drop in missing receipts.
The above-mentioned problems were avoided by using an AP automation solution that will mail or send invoices directly to the right person in your customer’s accounts payable department. Automation will also alert you when the invoice has been opened and viewed.
It has to be made sure that you have assigned an email address to each customer’s account, and regularly check for “unviewed” invoices. There are automated systems available that can set a flag and notify if invoices have gone unviewed for a certain period of time.
6   Reconciling Supplier and PO Information :
Before any business pays an invoice, the invoice must be cross-referenced to all other supporting documentation such as purchase orders and receiving reports to ensure the payment covers only goods or services listed. It’s done manually and leads to errors. The automated 2Way & 3Way matching process helps reconcile & match a large number of invoices, without any manual intervention. Thus, saving employees valuable productive time, and reducing errors.
Conclusion :
Touchless processing can be explained as a process where an invoice is received and approved without any manual intervention on the part of the AP team. Around 70% of companies touch invoices 3-4 times throughout the process. The fewer human touches an invoice receives, the faster it is processed with fewer errors down the line.
The above blog post is a guide to understanding the importance of achieving straight-through processing as it is cheaper, faster, and more efficient than any other invoice approval workflow process.
It is important for businesses to have a system that is able to process invoices in a smooth fashion so that it can reduce the overall operational costs, reduce the number of steps and time taken for approving invoices, thus increasing the efficiency and improving the overall financial results of the business.
