What’s the best coffee making method for somebody who’s the only person in the household drinking coffee, but doesn’t drink it at home everyday.
I stopped using single serve capsules a couple of years ago because a friend of mine’s nespresso machine got infested with roaches because she was only using it once a week (New York problems).
I have a French press but it takes SO much time to clean and I often end up cutting myself on the filters.
I’m thinking of a smaller pour over, but if anyone has any of other suggestions pls and thank you.

20.12.23, wednesday
My main hobby is just procrastinating in any way I can. The plan was to make a cup of coffee and then start working. What actually happened is that I watched a 3 part video series (by james hoffmann ofc) on Aeropress coffee and made a few cups with different variables. Still not sure if I found The Recipe for me, but it’s getting better (tho I don’t love the coffee beans I have)
#altho i’m not sure I agree that inverted method is not worth the risks#maybe I just pour my water in too slow (bc I get nervous abt pouring too much) but there’s a fair bit of liquid that manages to get through#before I can place the vacuum on there#so I did it with inverted method#what I took from his recipe was the swirling instead of stirring and letting it rest for 30secs after to get a more even bed of coffee#I did 14g of coffee & 200g of water with a 5min brew -> swirl -> another 30seconds of letting it rest before pressing gentlyy for like 20-3#seconds#but idk it’s a bit ’’one note’’#which could be the beans#I have medium roast rn and I prefer light roast but the light roast beans have been no where to be found lately idk why#(there aren’t many actual light roast beans and the other ones are waay out of my budget)#(or at least good ones; there’s the one affordable light roast that’s everywhere but I don’t like it that much (but tbf should’ve still#bought that instead of these ones I got))#like this is still way better than what the drip coffee of those beans are#and the achilles heel is that I don’t have a thermometer of any kind so my water temperature is guesswork every time#so tweaking variables is always a bit sketchy bc idk if I just had a better water temperature that time#studyblr#booklr#aesthetic#bookblr#books#study#reading#read#book#coffee#2023#december 2023

If you ever make a UU hero au you have to show me pretty please!!! :33333 I think parrot would make a good hero, y'know with all the hero complex he has going on....
i will, i will!! and yeah, you're so right, parrot is definitely more of a hero type. the hero complex is very strong on this guy. same with wemmbu, but wemm gives me more of a vigilante vibe, or like an anti-hero maybe.
#☆ mutuals .#☆ inbox .#pareot struggling with his hero identity because his morals keep spiraling from the trauma of what he's been through#so wifies has to try and support him and not let his partner completely lose his sense of morality#wemmbu kind of just does things when he's provoked#since egg doesn't really want to fight would he be a civilian then?#if we're talking uu based zam is definitely a villain. at least starting off as one#but then the more he's forced to work with wemmbu the more he also becomes more of an anti-hero#spoke is definitely an anti-hero who's trying to redeem himself after his previous partner (jamato) left him#because he didn't approve of spoke's methods for dealing with things#ughhh the thoughts are brewing

Wistfully thinks of Spellwind, I should make a headcanons up to ep 31 list its just my equivalent of like Skyrim or lotr where theres so much going on and so dense but god damn one of my favorite episodes was when two of my favorite characters became trees and the entire experience was like...they were tripping on shrooms but also one with the shrooms? Its like episode 8
and I love the dms orc captain that hates going on land and is there for the in between transportation from sea to sea land to land ferryman (not really I feel like its mostly hard to narrate and have a character at the same time) I just love captain buttocks' (yeah I'm pretty sure thats his name) humor and how him and djett ('jet') were closer in the beginning
I love ty and varsha together but I also ship smith with them as time went on, I can't tell who I want to joke as the third smith and varsha are friends to lovers, ty and varsha are irritated assholes to lovers, smith is just a jaded old fuck that loves his morons (he respects varsha a lot and thinks ty is an entertaining idiot)
Varsha and Djett are siblings they love each other like family and share different spells and potions and knowledge of interest notes
I feel like the only person really thinking too deeply about this tabletop story and wanted to drop a few lines of appreciation, I like listening to it to go to sleep since its so slow paced and gently spoken and the music and sound efx is so sweet
#spellwind#ttrpg#table story#homebrews are my favorite of genre of story telling right now#its what got me into midnight burger#Spotify knew what kinda creative storytelling I liked and said#pbbt here you go guy you need to listen to more audiodramas without the dice in the mix#the way podcasts can tell stories is so cool#dice rolling#describing everything thats going on in a natural dialogue so that it paints a picture for the person listening as if theyre part of it#like youre in the environment with them it was a really smart way to carve a story and narrative#wolf 359#wolf 395#idk off the top of my head I'm trying out a few episodes but I like how its a blend of that similar storytelling method but like also??#log entries and some conversation between characters which is mostly how midnight burger does it#aaaa I just love audiodramas#and tabletop actual plays#I want so badly to do ttrpgs but this is my live vicarious through the media I consume era until I can find ppl that wanna let me take try#and be a DM#I could totally make engaging stories like the things I listen to#its like execution of the stories that go on inside my head the tones the themes I wanna touch on the emotions I want to convey#at the same time theres a small part of me thats like mehh but they did it already but I can still share that vibe for people that either#have or haven't chewed up the same things I love over and over and over like a maniac#plus I still have my own take and taste and ideas its just a time and place thing#I have a trillion ideas written out I just have to sort them out and do some stitchwork on the canvas that is the blank page#embroidery on those sweet words and patchwork a story ive been brewing in mind#this is slightly a personal ramble about story making#and also a segway into a sideblog thats not 100% midnight burger#I wonder how this blog will evolve over time

my brain is very gone. i cannot read questions but i wanna participate. what’s your fav kind of tea? how do you take your tea?
ooh i love a lot of types of tea so i could never pick a single favorite. i'd say for a single (though often large) cup of hot tea my preference is usually for something strong and fruity. i like herbal blends with hibiscus, peaflower, rosehip etc and/or dried fruit pieces, although this year i've really been enjoying a couple of fruity white or green tea/herbal blends. i love these hot and either unsweetened or with just a drop of honey. this is also usually what i take in my thermal mug to campus bc it doesn't easily suffer from overbrewing so i can brew it in the morning at 9am and have a still-hot cup of tea to drink in rehearsal at 6pm. although occasionally i'll take something black to drink as a single cup; my preference is usually for something strong and spiced, with a bit of cream and lightly sweetened. but if i'm sitting down for an hour or two and enjoying a whole pot of tea, i'm usually drinking either one of the fruit/tea blends or i'm drinking an oolong, no sweetener. i have this WONDERFUL oolong in my cabinet right now from a regional teashop i love that's scented with grape and blackberry and it's got the most well rounded, juicy body to it -- if i had to pick a single favorite it might be that but it's expensive and small batch so i try to save it for when i can really sit down and enjoy it.
as for iced teas: love a cold fruity or hibiscus tea, barely sweet; black tea, strong and lightly sweet, especially with milk (a la boba shop milk tea or chai latte); LOVE an arnold palmer (half unsweet tea/half lemonade); and whatever the hell they put in diet snapple, i could go through cases of that shit all by myself in no time flat.
basically the only teas i don't really like are anything minty, chamomile, and plain green teas and matcha. although i'm recently becoming a convert to the joys of jasmine tea. besides it just tasting good what i love about tea is that there's just So Much out there that there's always something new to try and fall in love with
#sasha answers#masculinepeacock#ty hollis!!!#sorry this is probably. longer than you expected haha#i simply love tea. if i had to get a retail job of some kind i think i would be very at home in a tea store#they're so cute and quaint. and the ladies who work in them are so friendly.#i think abt tea the way Wine People treat wine and Coffee People treat coffee#i mean i'm not like being extremely precise about brew times and water temperatures and brewing setups/methods or anyhting#i don't really have the time for that (though there's a chinese teahouse in the city i've been meaning to visit. mmm!)#nevertheless i love thinking about the tasting notes and fragrances and all those other kinds of nuances that get clowned on for being#pretentious or something. idk. i just think it's fun and tasty :)#i wish tea culture was bigger here in the same way that coffee culture and alcohol culture are so i could indulge in this kind of#public nerdery more often but alas!#i think tea culture like that is much more of a thing in east asia. ah well#i will always remember fondly the tea tasting we did at the little shop in the chinese village in thailand#and deeply regret not buying any to take home with me...

Finally got my grubby hands on some alcohol free beer that doesn't make me feel horrendous & doesn't taste like piss. Holy shit. I'm SO excited to eat carbs and drink beer again.
#Dutch alcohol free beer is the worst because of their production laws#can only have so many ingredients and MUST be brewed in a certain way so the usual methods of not getting alcohol don't work#so they have to use a vaccuum to remove it and the resulting taste is SO nasty#I had some 0.0% doom bar and it was LUSH but I didn't think to get any calamari so honestly wasted opportunity#got larger this time tho so while I don't crave breaded and fried goods I do think it'd go hard if I had some salami or something#just got salted crisps and it's real good but I don't think i'm letting its true potential shine
