I went to the Spy x Family Exhibition at Tokyo! ✩( ̄▽ ̄)✩
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I gasped seeing the bus hijacking arc :D)
I took some photos from the official book and I’m not sure if it’s “exclusive” (or new) material, but it seems interesting enough that I’m putting it here. (And there’s unfortunately a photo limit of 10 on the Tumblr app.) Apologies for the low quality photos ^_^
The legendary Damian photo! Next to him is a concealed Demetrius. Very interesting because this means Demetrius was planned (or at least imagined) from the beginning right when Damian as a character was starting to form. I can’t wait for Demetrius to debut. It could be soon after the tease! :D
Tumblr media
This one is about Eden. The entire school has around 2000 students, 13 years, and 150 students per year. Apparently all the houses / halls have colours (shown in the last column) and Cecil hall is black. Could be useful for fanfiction.
Tumblr media
Random Eden kids doodles? Then George.
Tumblr media
This is a rudimentary relationship chart and the little scribbles are funny. Interesting how Becky is connected to the Desmonds. And Franky is neutral (although that has been established in canon).
Tumblr media
Here’s the exclusive manga for the exhibition! It’s at the end of the book ^_^ (4 pages) I don’t really know what it says but I think it’s about the SxF cast going to the exhibition and meeting the editor and Endo.
Edit: here’s a translation by @yumeka-sxf! Thanks for translating :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways, the exhibition was a lot of fun! Entrance fee is pricey (1600 yen for a regular ticket) but everything is very nicely made. You also get a Stellar Star pin for completing a mission in the exhibit :D and you can take photos on the chairs from the covers of the first four volumes :D there’s a special exhibit of Endo’s pencil drafts of the first chapter + various notes. Basically everything in the exhibit is in the book you can buy there (it’s not too expensive, I forgot the price but it should be around the price of the ticket aka. 1600 yen).

Portugal day 3 - Douro valley wine tour!
First stop! A tiny town called Amarante. We left Porto really early, 7:30, presumably to beat the traffic so had an hour to kill before going to the first wine stop for lunch. They sold it to us a photo stop, and it was actually pretty photogenic!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First tour was Favios! Our tour guides jacket said follow me I know where the wine is. She walked us through the mixing and fermenting and aging process and then we got lunch! We got an appetizer shot of moscatel, a white and a red with lunch and a dessert wine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stopped at a Random train station for pictures with blue tiles and then a fun Boat tour! There was an app for audio guide which was just okay but the views were great and the rain held off!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Second stop! We got to tour the vineyard and see the grape plants and then got three glasses of port, a white, ruby and red. Would’ve been nice to spend longer here as the port was strong and we all got a little tipsy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a long bus ride back I book it to my hotel to pee (perhaps I should’ve stayed at chatted and found a bathroom nearby but oh well) and then I grabbed a ticket for levarillo, the Harry Potter bookstore. It was pretty but overwhelming filled with people and I couldn’t find a fun classic book that I wanted to buy.
I then went out to Conga for a bifana (thin sliced pork) sandwich. It was okay but hardly life changing, but gotta try all the “Porto” food! I tried to get a side salad but ended up with a plate of tomatoes and onions instead…. Oops.
I then ended the night with gelato because I just wanted something delicious and familiar after trying too many new things. Topped off with a great sunset view from my room

Overly long travel diary
Day 3
Day 3 - 11/4 Douro valley
Leftover pastel de natas for breakfast as the sunrises. Wet and rainy day. Walk to living tour location and fun my bus. I was hoping it would be a small enough tour for just a van but alas. We have maybe 20 people so not a full bus but close. The guide talks about some of the buildings and portugals industry and food, cork wine and cod and also lets us sit in quite.
After an hour we stop at a little town called amarante and are given an hour to wander which is a long time for a tiny place. There is a church and bridge and some pretty views and I wander the streets a little. It is fine but not what I would’ve picked. It must be a timing thing for getting out of Porto early enough but not getting to the wine spots too early.
A lovely wine tour was had. Our guides jacket said “follow me I know where the wine is” she showed us cellars with the barrels and then the truck receiving location where they weigh the grapes and evaluate the quality to determine how much money to give the grape growers or producers. She then showed us the metal vats where they do the fermentation process. Squishing the grapes and maintaining the temperature for perfect fermentation. Talked us through the fortification of moscatel after only four days or 3% of the grapes have become alcohol. The normal quality grapes sit in giant metal vats for 4 years and the bestest grapes get aged in barrels. And then it was time for the tasting.
We started with a baby or young moscatel which hat smelled citrusy and tasted like honey. It was okay. And then lunch. We had soup, basic salad, a rice and French dish, cutely shoved in a round shaped a quilla maybe, and then pork and potatoes. With lunch we had a white (my favorite) and a red (quite good). And then for dessert there was fruit and a custard cake with Carmel sauce and a more aged moscatel.
I am enjoying the people watching of this trip. I most liked the single older man across from me who shamelessly read a book on his phone they most of dinner. I admire the self knowledge to have his one best time. My trip is mostly couples. a few young and about half retired l. There’s also a mother daughter pair, two ladies together and another single lady. It’s a fun mix. One couple sitting near me was celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary and another was almost at 49 years. My goodness.
I am now pleasantly tipsy back on the bus to the boat ride. Yay boats! Sadly it is quite grey and drizzly outside. Also I love my new sweater that I made just for me :D
I do wish Anthony were here. I think the trip would’ve been more fun with him along. We’ll see if I still feel the same way once I’m traveling with Elizabeth.
Before the boat ride we stopped at a train station with some pretty blue tiles (clearly killing time but pretty so whatevs). I thought that the blue tiles were always abstract geometric designs, but they also get used as part of murals where they make up one single picture which is fun. I continue my collection of blue tile pictures.
The boat ride was perfection. Not too cold and barely raining (no need for a raincoat). It came with an app for an audio guide which was nice but didn’t let you pause it and only came up at certain spots which annoying but better than nothing. The views though were great! The terraces and the fall colors and gentle river breeze were everything I could ever want. They let us hang out on the bow and open air and it was lovely. Got several nice pictures l, took some of others and just enjoyed the river surround by terraced mountains of grape vines.
The second wine tour was very similar to start with showing us barrels in a tourist aging area and then we got to walk up to see the vines. They were so red and pretty! He explained the pruning, how they do a rough prune down to the second wire and then a more precise prune down to the old trunks later. He showed us the difference of the old vines (normal looking) and then the new vines, which were American roots (to protect against bug diseases) with European vines grafted on top that stretched across the first wire. And then grew upwards at multiple points from there. It takes several years to produce “quality” grapes but only to produce any. Again they prune the new growth every year and let the trunk get thick and fat. They trim all the leaves every year down to the third wire to encourage more grape growth. This vineyard using mechanical stomping for most grape and traditional human feet for their vintages. And then we try the ports! We get a chilled white a very dark ruby and then a tawny. They are all 20% alcohol. The white is an appetizer wine and would only be drank before meals chilled. While the other two are room temperature and can be drank whenever. I’m surprised that the ruby is darker than the tawny. I like them all but the white is my favorite and then the ruby and than the tawny but both are a little alcholy bitter for my tasting but pretty good. We aren’t given very long to drink them and I am only half way thru when the guide announces ten more min, so I kind of chug them and then go to the bathroom. And then sneak in one more picture from the most enthusiastic older lady which is fun and is a cute picture so worth being one of the last on the bus, but not late!
“This picture brought to you by an older lady on what is either a mother daughter trip or just three older ladies living their best life, who loved all the wines and is clearly living her best life and gave me a “you go girl” while taking this picture 😂”
And now time for a tipsy car ride home.
I really do love the mix of people on group tours. You got three young couples, three retired couples, one in between? A two person girl trip, a three person girl trip (or mother daughter and friend?) three solos (me, a girl from India, and a tall middle aged man who hi reminds me of the non love interest man in legally blind (the tall awkward one who helps her get books from a tall shelf). Many countries, three USA, a Canada, Australia, Canadian (French candian), India, ect. It’s just kind of fun to see. I like hearing the different travel plans too. From the uk 3 day 30th anniversary trip, to week long, to two weeks two Europe stops, to 28 day uk cruise plus Portugal trip, it’s all so fun and varied.
Idk if I would call this the absolute highlight of my traveling life, like some travel blogs did. But I definitely had a good time and am glad I did it!
I had a boat tour! I tried wines! I learned about things! And I didn’t have to make any decisions! (And I got to sit on bus and do nothing and feeling good about it! (Honestly priceless and underrated))
Got back and it was raining and I had pee so bad and I was kind of hoping to get a ticket to the bookstore before they closed so I basically scurried off the bus and to the hotel 15min away and then felt kind of about because maybe I should have said good bye to people? Or at least the other solo lady from India? But I had to pee and public bathrooms are hard to find in Europe and I knew where my hotel was so I just scurried away.
Got back to my hotel bought a ticket, struggled to find the ticket because it got sent to spam, got confused by the lines but finally made it into the store. It was both underwhelming visually and overwhelming with the number of people and my first thought was to flee. I wandered around took some pictures, tried not to get in peoples way too badly as they took pictures on the cool spiral staircases and looked to see if there were any books I wanted. They had a whole little prince room which was cool (although I’ve never read the book). And lots of classic books. They had these mini little books called “lello collections” that were the only books under 16 euros. Your 8 euro ticket can go to the cost of a book so I think is everything is upcharged for that. They had a bunch classics but none I wanted. The closest was Alice in wonderland but my Alice copy was already a cute little book like that soooo. They had big copies of chronicles of narnis and the little mermaid and secret garden but they were all over 30 euros and I didn’t really want them, but would’ve gotten little versions of them. I give up on finding anything I want to buy and go to conga to get a bifana. The place is very Portuguese and the waiters have no idea what I’m saying but pointing at least allows me to order. I get a bifana (pork sandwhich) with cheese and what I think is a simple salad with tomato and onion, but turns out to be just a plate of tomato and onions…. The sandwhich is okay but nothing to rave about. And I don’t really know what to do with the tomatoes and opinions. I eat some of the onions (at least they have olive oil on them) and then put some more on the sandwich which is good. And then I finally figure out I have to go back to the counter to pay and leave.
I am now tired and grumpy and sick of trying new foods so I go and get ice cream. I walk right past the shop at first and have to turn around but eventually find it! I get dulce de leche and chocolate hazelnut and it’s delicious and exactly what I needed. I eat it while strolling the drizzling streets. I pop in a souvenir store on my way back because I want an ornament with a Santa hat but they only have Portugal ones with the hats and not Porto and I get decision paralysis and grumpy and just go back to my hotel where I also really need poop. I then just scroll on my phone, take a nice hot shower and go to bed.

Addressing Watermarks on Official Merch Scans -- A Post Made to EDUCATE
I never thought this would need to be addressed, but I think to ignore this would do me injustice as someone who works in education. This message, at its core, is to educate, not attack anyone in particular.
I used to think how silly it was that people used watermarks on pictures and art, but after spending decades in multiple fandom groups, I learned that people are simply too lazy to find the source and credit accordingly and/or want the glory/validation that comes from claiming that particular art/picture as theirs.
I've had a picture stolen once, too. It was a picture of a mannequin that reminded me of Slender Man. I posted it on a public social media app just for laughs, and somehow, that picture ended up becoming a small meme. It WASN'T a huge meme, but it made its way to a niche of Slender Man memes. I haven't received credit for that picture and probably never will. The reason is that this picture was taken over a decade ago, so finding the source would be difficult for me to scroll through the app. Furthermore, I can't show proof that I have the original picture since it was from an old phone that I no longer owned. I had the picture backed up on an external hard drive, but it was deleted when the memory got wiped when I was dealing with a virus. Ultimately, I'm not here to air out my grievance for this picture, but I take it as a lesson to myself that I should be careful next time if I want to post a picture on the internet.
This now brings me to the present-day issue: why did I watermark my scans?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you read from my previous experience, it's because people DON'T credit or share the source.
I am very much aware that this particular design of the Forgers is very rare to come by. The official art was posted by the official website, but it was never addressed again (I know because I am dying to have acrylic stands of this design). As of today, I tried to look for this specific design and the following images showed up when I spent the past 10 minutes scrolling:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you were to click the link for the merch (middle image), you would find that the website is unavailable. So, yes, to find this design on a merch was INCREDIBLY lucky on my part. Now, I wasn't expecting to find this at Waku Waku Park, nor was it my mission to find this specific art during the duration of my trip. It just so happened to be at the shop. To my knowledge, other official SxF merch--other than the Waku Waku Park merch--supposedly changes. I compared my experience with two SxF moots who went in December (Ikebukuro/Tokyo location) and 1 week (Osaka location) before me, and they both don't recall finding this design during their visits to Waku Waku Park (I mean, justified because it's been ages ago). As a result, this makes this merch all the more difficult to find.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Technically, I wasn't allowed to take pictures of the merchandise when I was at the shop. I was approached by a store clerk after I had already completed taking pictures of every merch available at the shop. She was limited in her English but crossed her index fingers and told me: "Pictures prohibited." I have not, nor do I plan to, share merch pictures, hence why I edited to the clear file folders to show proof that I was there.
The reason why I am so hell-bent on having my watermark on MY PICTURES and MY SCANS is because of the amount of time, effort, and money I invested into getting it.
Just to give you guys an idea of how expensive it was:
$1,500 was spent on a 9-day round-trip ticket to Japan.
$180 was lost to an overnight night bus from Tokyo to Osaka that I didn't end up riding due to rushing and booking the wrong date. I was not allowed to cancel or refund.
$100 was spent on an airplane ticket from Tokyo to Osaka.
$90 was spent on a shinkansen (bullet train) from Kyoto to Tokyo (we took a fast metro ride from Osaka to Kyoto).
$100 was spent on a last-minute B&B in Osaka.
$50 was spent on Waku Waku Park tickets that came with merchandise (I paid for my friend's ticket as well as my own).
$12 (est.) was spent on purchasing this clear file folder.
Over $350 was spent on purchasing merch from Waku Waku Park alone.
$60 was invested in purchasing a scanner just to scan a high-quality image of this clear file for my friend, and anyone else who'd appreciate seeing this product.
To share how much time and effort it took to get to purchasing this:
My friend and I weren't able to book events for the trip despite purchasing our tickets 2 months in advance. Our jobs and schedules prevented us from meeting up and planning out places where we'd like to visit. As a result, many of our planned trips were booked days before we went, such was the case with Waku Waku Park. We literally bought the tickets the night before.
The flight, night bus, and shinkansen tickets from Tokyo to Osaka and from Kyoto to Tokyo were purchased the day before we bought the tickets, which was during our bus ride trip to Mount Fuji.
When purchasing tickets for Waku Waku Park, my SxF moots recommended I purchase online or at Lawson--I did the latter. For whatever reason, I just couldn't purchase the tickets online, so I went to Lawson and found a machine that sells general tickets to the public. I recall this experience being so frustrating because they did have an English translation option for the homepage ONLY. Once I clicked the platform that sold Waku Waku Park tickets, all text went back to Japanese. I couldn't read it, so I had to contact my SxF moot (who was fortunately still in Japan and went through this experience like me AND could read and speak in Japanese) explain to me what I was looking at. I also used Google Lens to help make sense of whatever I was reading. I probably spent over 10 minutes trying to figure that shit out until the shop clerk finally came over to see if he can help me complete the form and check out my purchase (poor kid didn't know English but we somehow managed).
Tumblr media
When my friend and I arrived in Osaka, we had forgotten to book a B&B since we knew that there was a high likelihood that we'd stay overnight. I purchased a 1-day Osaka trip pass, assuming that we'd be able to go to every place offered on the list, but nope, my friend crashed after Waku Waku Park. As a result of booking so early in the morning, we were fortunate to have found a B&B that was ready by 1 PM (?) maybe 3 PM (?). I can't remember other than the fact that when I requested if we could come early, they told me we couldn't come until check-in time. So, we went to ATC Gallery (Waku Waku Park) with our luggages (fortunately, they were light but it was a nuisance to have carried it around). We were also fortunate that ATC Gallery, when arriving to the building via metro station, had a locker that could fit our luggage--so thank goodness we didn't have to carry it during the exhibit.
We learned that once you exit the exhibit--which means you exit the merch shop--you are NOT allowed to come back in. Even, when your companion was still inside, you couldn't go back in. My friend left the merch shop since there were no places for her to sit and wait for me. So she stepped out of the shop. Apparently, there are gates with workers preventing people from re-entering. And so, when I experienced problems with my card, I called my friend to have her lend me her credit card. That's when we experienced that problem. The officer was kind enough to allow my friend to hand me her card so that I could pay for my haul of merch. But imagine, if we both left the shop to go to a store to withdraw money? There was no Lawson store nearby so we'd have to take the metro and find one, buy a ticket, return to the venue, go through the exhibit AGAIN (I probably would have to repeat playing the minigames, collecting stamps, and having my photo taken out of courtesy rather than rushing through the exhibit), and then finally arrive at the merch shop. But considering the time we entered the park around 1:30 PM and spent 2 hours in the park, I believe that it would have ended with a very tight schedule (the park closes at 6:00 PM) and a very unhappy companion.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, removing my watermarks means you (the watermark remover) discredit me and disrespect all of my time, effort, and money I invested just to get a high-quality scan of this clear file just for you to enjoy looking at and most likely saving it to your collection of SxF images. You are also a THIEF for not only stealing my scanned image and re-uploading my scan with a horrible cut and my watermarks removed with AI, but also for the fact that you DID NOT pay for a round-trip ticket to Japan, you DID NOT pay for your own ticket to Waku Waku Park, you DID NOT purchase this clear file yourself, and you DID NOT spend money on a scanner to get this high-quality image to post on the internet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know that this is MY SCANNED image of the official art because I can see ghost texts of my watermark between Loid and Yor and near Anya's finger and Bond's forehead. I can see the residual cut off of the weird light-blue scan found near Loid's head. The most obvious is that the red leaf between Yor and Loid was horribly "removed" by AI (dear, I use AI to edit out people from my photos, it doesn't take a trained and perfectionist eye to notice something looks fucked up).
Below is an example of me using AI, and this is not how it should look without people. There was a clear pathway behind the people but AI decided to cover it with grass. Keep in mind that to arrive to THIS AI edit, it took me over an hour to repeat the removal process since AI's edit is RANDOM every time. I am an extreme perfectionist, so I tend to waste hours on end to find AI edits that look convincing (I'm not gonna bother putting a watermark on this because my face is there).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Furthermore, as far as I'm aware (at this current time), I know that my scan is the only one that has resurfaced this image. The official merch image of this design is quite difficult to find and reference. I would've sourced it by now if I had already found it, but I've spent 6 hours writing this entire post as is and still couldn't find it.
The person who shared the removal of my watermark on Twitter/X was unaware of the importance for watermarking scans and had been cooperative by taking down her original post. I have provided a post to my scans on Twitter/X here, and a link to the original source found on my Ko-Fi shop. I currently have no beef with her, nor am I attacking her with this post. What she had presented to me was an opportunity to educate.
If you're looking for official merch that do not have watermarks slashed across their products, then your best bet is to find them from official merch websites and/or official merch images. Obviously, they want you to purchase their products. Second, they have the legal rights and trademark (TM) to flex that they own it, so I highly doubt anyone would go out of their way to edit an official work and claim it as their image.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My experience alone confirms that had I not put a watermark on my scan, I would have definitely gotten this scan stolen. As far as I'm aware, my scan is the ONLY ONE (at this current moment) that pops up in Google searches. It pops up via Tumblr from @yumeka-sxf Spy x Family miscellaneous collab scans - part 3 post.
I'm so grateful to have received advice from @yumeka-sxf because she encouraged me to protect my scans having experienced multiple thefts from her oldest scanned images in the past.
TLDR; Don't remove people's watermarks on scanned pictures (especially if they're put on official merch). We have the right to post watermarks on our pictures/scans because we spent ungodly time and effort to find them, spent money to purchase them, scanned/took high-quality pictures of them, and kindly shared our collection(s) FOR FREE for people to enjoy, share the experience, and/or inspire them to purchase one themselves. Unfortunately, the decision to put watermarks over purchased merch is because there are people who are willing to do whatever it takes to edit out credit and watermarks found in corners or in open spaces to claim ownership of the image. I have also seen merchants' product pictures being stolen by other sellers who just happen to have the same product (yes, I'm calling Ebay and Mercari out). That's why there are sellers who take pictures of their products next to their usernames.
If you have read everything until the very end, you have my gratitude. I hope that this post has been educational in helping everyone become aware that watermarks are used to credit people's time, effort, and money to share high-quality scans/pictures of official merch that they purchased. The reason you can see it is because of their efforts to share it.

okay i'm gonna make seperate posts for the highlights but here are my raw thoughts from my notes app as i watched
dnp 10/19/15
“hello everybody welcome to the show hello everybody welcome to the show” nostalgicccc wahhhh
all these 2015 younow top fans feel like distant relatives at a family reunion
this is their one day off between shows and they’re doing a liveshow (2015 work schedules at it again but also those younow contracts really made them go live ANYWHERE)
them talking about what they do during their shows and they’ve retired the drawing game and guess the crime rip
if this were current times phil would have just drank out of dan’s bottle without a second thought but i still love that he snatched it so naturally asdsafsgjk
dan asks them how they’re feeling and phil is “interested” in the words
“imagine being ecstatic right now” PHIL ILYSM
“happy 6 year friendaversary” and 6 years of dinof (phil remembered but not dan). they reallyyyy moved past that to focus on dinof lmao
they’re anti spoiler policy and don’t want to talk about it all the time (which is so interesting because you can tell they’ve kept that thinking except promo is important these days, especially for dan during WAD some promo would have massively helped)
dan split his pants and phil bonked his noggin on stage (it’s still them <33) phil has a steel head 😭
phil wants to put a camera in a penny and just see where it goes (he’s so beautiful i love him dearly). do you think you’ve ever used a coin benedict cumberbatch 😭
DAN DO YOU KNOW WHAT YAOI IS
love phil just taking over the liveshow and telling dan they’re going to try and think of a better name when dan just wanted to move past it
pretty odd opinions (phil singing nine in the afternoon changed my brain chemistry jfc)
A level geography + phan 4eva
dan got an A in case you forgot
WAIT WAIT WAIT for the us tour (dnp doing everything themselves is still insane)
“i’m guessing one of you as probably uploaded the video of this already and thank you for doing a service” dan used to be Such an advocate for fan reuploads for accessibility and i genuinely love him for it
phil likes being remembered :3 the 1975 remembers them
they like touring <33 try new things!!!!!!!!! “five people die” and you don’t wanna know who adsfdgsfgkj phil stopped the whole bus for a fish and chip shops HE’S SO VALID ILYSM KING
a fun fact about them seeing derren brown in 2012 is they accidentally left their tickets at home and then had to go all the way back in a taxi to go get them
OMGGGG DANS NOSE TOUCHED HIS SLEEVE!!!1!
martyn shoutout (remember when IRL was good 😭)
dan coughing in his face is sooooo current dan like that is dan on the gaming channel in 2024
your enemies didn’t get a good morning (funniest man alive)
bbc breakfast show is like a plain yogurt but nana watches it. the infamous squirrel bite story <33333 phiw
GET OVER IT HE ENJOYS A THEMED DRINK GET OVER IT
dans loubs are on akinator (the time on the internet when you quite literally could not escape dnp was so special)
miss dan’s tv show rants soooo bad waahhhhh pls come back and yell about shit 😭
THE BEST MOMENT IN ANY LIVESHOW EVER phiiiillll
dan’s face talking about the 3D movies…i fear i love him too much :((( let him watch the movie
them writing that dan’s chair is hiding a huge secret….
genuinely it’s so so incredible how much they loved the book and how much care and effort they put into something they could have very easily just slapped their name on
dan thinks an apocalypse is going to happen..he was pregnant with WAD here
my favorite thing is the MINUTE they hit that hour mark phil gets “”hungry””” without fail like yes kings get that minimum and dip <33

Weekly Tag Wednesday Thursday
Thanks for the game @jrooc and thanks for the tag @blue-disco-lights @deedala @energievie @lingy910y @creepkinginc @crestfallercanyon
Name: Mys
What is the most listened to artist in your music app of choice this month?
The Libertines - They’ve just released a new album
What song do you know all the lyrics to?
Erm… most? Well, at least most songs I regularly listen to. Back in the day when we’d still buy CDs I would get a new album and sit in my bedroom listening to it beginning to end, while reading along to the lyrics in the booklet. And oooooh, I would get so furious when bands had a booklet that did not include song lyrics. Wtf is wrong with you?? SO ANGRY! haha
What song do you pretend to know all the lyrics to and sing along to even though you don't?
It’s the End of the World As We Know It by R.E.M. I get to ‘eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn’ and then I’m lost until we hit the chorus lol But it’s such a fun song to pretend to sing along to, and really just making vaguely appropriate noises at the right time, until the chorus kicks in again… and of course we’re all ready to shout LEONARD BERNSTEIN! Hahaha
If you were to be crowned Queen/King/Royalty of listening to a band or artist, who would that be?
That would have to be Dirty Pretty Things. I fell in love with The Libertines just as they were falling apart and a few weeks away from calling it quits for good, so when Carl Barât announced the first tour of his new band Dirty Pretty Things I wasn’t gonna miss out again. So I flew to Ireland and then to England and attended the first 5 gigs of their first tour. And that pretty much set the tone for the next couple of years of my life. I ended up flying to the UK so much and meeting so many people that in the end it only made sense to move to London. Dirty Pretty Things had a tour booked starting two days after my moving day and we were gonna go to a few of the gigs. Then the day before I got on a plane they announced it would be their farewell tour, so we bought tickets for every single gig, which meant that I moved to the UK and then spent all of October, November, and half of December on tour… I didn’t start job hunting and thinking about real life until January lol
So yeah. Them. They’re my boys. As coined by the NME in their ‘sad to see them go’ article… “They were well fit and nice!”
What band/artist surprises you the most on your frequently listened to artists?
I’m ongoingly surprised by how much I managed to trick myself into liking Taylor Swift
Favourite line from a song (or one you have been thinking about lately?
Fame and Fortune by The Libertines
The deal was done, the trade was rough, Doubloons down for a double bluff, Dip your quill in your bleeding heart, Sign there and there and there
Guilty pleasure band or song?
I don’t believe in guilty pleasures.
Liking what I like don’t make me a bitch.
Okay let's talk fandom music:
Fave band or song you've discovered from a Fan Fic?
The Libertines lol My friend really wanted me to get into this band she liked, and I just wasn’t massively into music at the time, so she sent me a Libertines fanfic, and that, as they say, was that. Oh, she knew me very well… hahah
Fave Fanfic Playlist?
Right now I’m REALLY into The Menagerie playlist!
Fave Gallavich song?
Do you listen to music recommended by the writer or an included playlist?
Almost always, yeah. Though sometimes that can go terribly wrong. When someone’s like OMG THIS SONG!!! and you’re just like ‘eh, I don’t see it’ lol
What song do you think is Gallavich coded?
Well, thanks to @deedala this will never not be Season 5 Gallavich
What’s a bop you want to share with your mutuals today?
Love the original, but I also love Darren Criss
And this, because I’m dying for the next season of The Bear!!!!
Oooookay… I’m late and I’ve been way too busy, so if you’ve already played and I didn’t see please tag me in yours so I can check it out!! If not, and you’d like to do it, I’m tagging @heymacy @heymrspatel @darlingian @too-schoolforcool @palepinkgoat @vintagelacerosette @crossmydna @captainjowl @mikhailoisbaby @rereadanon @the-rat-wins @tsuga-of-mars @loftec @sickness-health-all-that-shit @deathclassic @rutherinahobbit @faejilly (you can skip the Gallavich questions!!! Hahahahah)

eras tour city guide: Gelsenkirchen
(Hamburg | Munich)
are you're traveling to see the eras tour in Gelsenkirchen and are looking for things to do in the city or just need advice for good food/drinks spots? Or are you looking for some insider information about the venue? here are some ideas for you (I will continuously update this post!):
GENERAL ADVICE
credit: @youlooklikeasixtiesqueen (thank you!!)
❗if you're taking public transport i recommend using the app "vrr bus&bahn". it has a green logo with vrr in it as the thumbnail. you can use it to look up public transport lines and if they're on time, and you can buy tickets on your phone (i think paypal and credit card are accepted as payments, not sure about google pay etc) i think it should be in english if your phone is set to english, but i can't 100% guarantee it. i just remember that a friend has her phone set to english and i believe the app is in english for her. you will need to make an account to buy tickets.
❗gelsenkirchen has the highest percentage of people living in poverty in germany. if you're not from around here and you're imagining a cute german town that looks like it's from a picture book, then that is not gelsenkirchen. it's a large town in the industrial part of germany. crime is not uncommon, especially downtown. keep an eye on your belongings, if you wear a bag make sure it closes completely, and please walk in groups of at least three people when it gets dark. basically just make smart choices and use common sense to stay safe.
❗ the median temperature for july is around 25°C
THINGS TO DO:
credit: @youlooklikeasixtiesqueen
❗important: taylor is playing her shows while the kids are out of school for the summer, so anything touristy that is family friendly will probably be full
❗there is a theme park nearby called "movie park germany" which is hella overpriced. there's not a lot of good rides for adults. the lines are also very very long in the summer. i would not recommend going.
⭐ the area around the veltins arena itself (arena-park):
- mini golf: 3.50€ for adults and 2.50€ for kids - schalke museum: museum about the football club that the veltins-arena is home to, 5€ for adults over 21, 6-21yo it's 3€, under 6yo it's free - apollo cinema: no movies in english but if you speak japanese or turkish you might be in luck if you want to catch a movie - food: several places to buy food including a mcdonalds - there is also a small castle called schloss berge nearby
⭐ zoom erlebniswelt:
- amazing large zoo with three areas (africa, asia, alaska) - highlights: igloo ride, petting zoo, viewing platform for the giraffes, lemur island (lemurs move around freely amongst visitors), canopy walk (by the orangutan outdoor area) - definitely plan to be there for at least half a day, my tip is to go when it opens and go to the "alaska" area first because they have this little ride that's an igloo that shakes you around a bit and it's so much fun, but there can be quite long lines in the summer (i think mostly because it has aircon), it's called "alaska ice adventure" and is opposite the polar bears - they have a little boat that you can go on to get closer to the baboons and flamingos but imho it isn't worth the wait - another tip: bring your own food and plenty of water. it's very expensive at the zoo. like, worse than airport prices. - you can buy artwork made by animals for very good prices at the gift store. i love the penguin art made by their little feet waddling over the canvas. - sadly not a great place for people who need walking aids or wheelchairs. they do say they're somewhat accessible but they aren't (it's better than ten years ago but still not great) - there's plenty of toilets and places to sit, and the toilets have always been clean when i went - prices: for adults it's 21,50€, kids up to 12 pay 14€, and it's free for kids under 4. if someone wants to bring a dog it's 6€. prices are reduced by a lot after 4pm (adults 10€, kids 8,50€), but you won't have a lot of time in the zoo, only about two hours. they also have lower prices for students if you have proof that you go to school or college. it is recommended to buy your tickets online and i agree with that. there's very long lines in the summer. - getting there: if you go by car, parking is 6€ for a day. the address for a gps is bleckstraße 64, 45889 gelsenkirchen. HOWEVER I do recommend taking the tramline 301 from the main station, the stop is just called "zoom erlebniswelt", it's a very short walk. - website: https://www.zoom-erlebniswelt.de/ (only in german) - btw they had baby pigs at the petting zoo not too long ago - @notjustillusion (thank you!!) also recommends ZOOM Erlebniswelt!
⭐erlebnismuseum schloss horst
- i haven't been but i've heard it's cool - interactive museum in a castle!! - exhibits on how people lived in the mid-16th century - free and accessible! - playground outside for the kiddos - in the afternoon on mon, tue, thu, and fri you can use an old printing press - open every day except saturdays from 3pm to 6pm, and sundays from 11am to 6pm - getting there: the address is turfstraße 21, 45899 gelsenkirchen. from the main station you can take bus 383, or tramline 301. the stop is "schloß horst" or "schloss horst"
credit: @notjustillusion (thank you!!)
Zeche Zollverein in Essen: a Zeche that was shut down, great place for walks and/or tours informing you about mining in the Ruhrgebiet in general!
credit: @feminst4life (thank you Nadine!!)
Nordsternpark: nice park where you can go climbing and there's also a museum!
Rungenberg-Halde: a nice photo spot!
FOOD & DRINKS:
credit: @feminst4life
Noah & Zoe's Place: all kinds of food (from breakfast do dinner to drinks), only a 15 minute ride with the tram away from the venue!
GENERAL ADVICE ABOUT THE VENUE:
credit: once again @youlooklikeasixtiesqueen (I feel the need to thank you again because you helped me so much with this post!!)
veltins arena, also called "arena auf schalke", max capacity around 60k
it has different entraces, your ticket should say which one you need to use
cashless venue - you can pay by credit or debit card, or using google pay, apple pay, or samsung pay. you can also trade cash at the venue for a "knappenkarte", which is basically a card you can pay with when you buy something in the venue. they have several different "payment counters" where you can exchange your money throughout the stadium. i'm not sure if these restrictions apply to merch, because it hasn't been announced if she will have her merch trucks or sell it inside the stadium.
you can buy food at the venue, they have vegetarian and vegan options too, but i don't know what anything costs. they have an overview where you can see what food counter has what on their website. they have pretzels and sweets at every food counter.
the website says you can bring in something to drink that is up to 500ml in a "tetra-pak", aka a juice box or a milk carton. i'm not sure about foldable silicone water bottles. plastic bottles are not allowed.
no bags larger than an a4 sheet of paper. i recommend a clear bag as well. they don't seem to have a clear back policy, but it'll make security lines move faster (i'm nearly certain there will be bag checks, i've never been to a concert in this general area that didn't have them, no matter how big or small). i got a clear fanny pack from amazon that i can also wear over one shoulder and around my torso because i think it'll make dancing easier than a crossbody.
i know someone once brought a dog to the rep tour and idk if it was a service dog but i think it's worth mentioning that animals are not allowed.
cameras for commercial use are not allowed (usually that means don't take a dslr)
powerbanks are only allowed if they are smaller than 10x7x3 cm. charge your phone beforehand and maybe put it in energy saving until you want to take pictures
you are not allowed to climb on seats
if you pee anywhere other than the toilets, smoke outside the designated area, or put a sticker somewhere, it's a 25€ fine
the roof will be closed unless it's too hot
they don't have lockers so only take what you need

Weeks 2+3: The Midnight Train Going Anywhere (Transportation)
Week 2 was our first official work week but due to holidays and the UROP schedule I only ended up going in for one day of autoclave training. Everyone in the lab was super friendly and the team is very tight-knit. During week 3 I was able to go in for the whole week and I enjoyed establishing a routine and getting comfortable with work.
Over the long holiday weekend, we traveled to Munich! It was a beautiful city and I would definitely like to spend more time there in the future. We went to a beer garden which was a great experience in terms of vibes, but did have overpriced and extremely salty food. The next day we visited Neuschwanstein and I got my first glimpse of the Alps which I am especially excited to return to at some point.
That brings me to my first Germany-specific topic: transportation! As expected, public transportation here is infinitely better than in Michigan and getting out of Aachen is quite easy. Through enrollment at RWTH, each student gets a Deutschland Semesterticket which covers buses and regional trains in Germany. Traveling around Aachen by bus is convenient and mostly reliable. I have been using Google Maps to navigate buses which works well and is accurate within a couple of minutes. Occasionally a bus just won’t show up so it’s always good to have multiple routes planned when trying to go somewhere important.
To navigate trains I use the DB Navigator and Naveo apps, which is how we access the Semesterticket. These apps are great at planning routes but the train system can be unreliable so we’ve definitely had to be flexible in some situations. Since the low speed trains are free with the Semesterticket it’s simple to change plans, but when booking with ICE high speed trains, which you have to pay for separately, I would definitely pad the time with connections to avoid changing expensive tickets.
Outside of a few longer trips I’ve been having a great time exploring Aachen and the surrounding area, and I am very excited to keep seeing more of it!

Development Cost
To have an effective budget and the right planning, the cost to develop a bus booking app is necessary. Based on feature complexity and the location of the development team, the actual cost will be different. Here is a rough breakdown:
1. Design Cost
The design stage comprises UI and UX designing. This cost will lie between $2,000 and $10,000. A good design is important as this directly affects user engagement.
2. Development Cost
This is where most of your budget will go. The development price is determined by many things: platform choice (iOS, Android, or both), complexity, and the location of the development team. Mostly, you can assume:
Basic: $10,000-$30,000
Advanced: $30,000-$50,000
3. Backend Development
Creating a good backend for your application will cost between $ 5,000 to $ 15,000. Here, again, you place a server, your database, and your APIs.
4. Testing
Quality assurance also plays a vital role in ensuring that all users will be able to run the application with the least amount of conflict.
Testing may cost between $3,000 to $10,000 depending upon the complexity of the application.
5. Maintenance and Updates
Post-launch, you have to budget for maintenance and updates. You will have to spend around 15-20% of the total cost of development annually.
6. Marketing Costs
Once you develop your app, you will also be spending money on marketing. This can vary widely, but budgeting $5,000 to $20,000 for initial promotions is a good starting point.
Development Cost Factors
Location of the Development Team: The cost of development can be greatly affected by the location. It would be expensive to hire a local team in high-cost areas.
Complexity of Features: The cost of development will be higher if complex features are involved. This pushes the timeline and complexity for every added feature.
Platform Choice: It would be costlier to develop an application for both iOS and Android compared to just developing one.
Development Approach: Custom app development is more expensive than developing using a template or any pre-available platform.
Conclusion:
This could greatly benefit the bus ticket booking app development company, as it offers convenience to the users putting your business in an advantageous competitive position within the marketplace. In understanding the necessity of all the features included and what costs that would involve, you can efficiently produce an app that will be required for the needs of today's travelers.
Travel has, indeed, changed, and an application for booking a bus ticket is one of the must-haves to meet the needs of the newer consumer. If you are willing to take the plunge and build a bus booking system, do not forget to bring on board a development company that is reliable and has experience to help materialize your vision. With the right strategic approach and execution, the application can be the go-to source for travelers all over the world.
So, whether it's an app for booking tickets of your own or just browsing for an option, the journey starts here. Welcome to the future of travel and elevate the ways of people in booking their bus tickets!

wip wednesday—18/12/24—cry for judas
from “cry for judas”, for @twyrewolf , @eriquin , @auburnlaughter , and @catboy-jupiter :
It was pouring with rain. Newt stayed hunched under the shelter of the bus stop, headphones plugged in and social media glaring harsh light onto his phone.
He’d been in this part of London a few times before, but it never got much easier to tolerate the city in the evenings, when the muggy air weighed heavy with pollution and the bright lights dripped across every murky mirrored paving stone.
With a longsuffering sigh, he opened up his phone and checked the location tracking app. Theseus had insisted on it—they sell your location information, obviously, so expect some very targeted advertisements—but kept having what Newt suspected were panic attacks whenever it got frozen from a lack of mobile data coverage.
He was just about to pull out his secondhand supernatural romance book when someone tapped his shoulder.
Newt jumped out of his skin, the movement too small to register as much more than a twitch, and stared at the stranger who’d stepped past the graffitied glass pane.
“Theseus,” Newt said, standing up and hastily arranging his things. “Look, I do know how to get a bus.”
His water bottle swung on its carabiner as he tried to check all his patches and badges were in place, knocking painfully against his elbow. By the time he was able to glance at his brother, the back of his neck was damp with sweat, his entire body uncomfortably warm.
Theseus pulled a face and looked down. He had turned up wearing worn-out running shoes, a pair of straight-legged jeans, and, to Newt’s consternation, a hoodie. “Mind if I sit here for a bit longer?”
One of their preferred sibling bonding activities was going to the cinema, and had been for some time. It didn’t require too much talking—which meant it didn’t open up as many opportunities for painful misunderstandings or irate arguments.
But they’d just come out of the film. They’d emerged from the womb-like interior of the cinema into the old drizzle and huddled by the traffic lights. In the time it took to go from red to green, they went through every important topic.
Theseus said something or other about the legal ramifications of an Arctic expedition under certain premises and the various social dynamics of the team contributing to its representation of class struggle. Newt had said Theseus wouldn’t know class struggle if it bit him.
To which Theseus had said biting, right, only because you handle feral wild creatures. To which Newt had said and you know I think the film was trying to tell us something about monsters and violence, and Theseus had said what are you calling me, exactly? A monster, or violent?
Theseus had decided to take the train. He could afford it.
“But why are—why are you, um, back here?” Newt asked suspiciously. “I don’t want to finish our argument. Sorry, but I really don’t. It was a nice film. Thank you for paying for my ticket—I’ll, um, well, when the next paper…”
Newt cupped one ear of his headphones, shifting them back into place from where they were starting to slide down his too-long hair.
“You never pay me back,” said Theseus.
Internally, Newt sighed. He edged backwards; to his significant concern, Theseus followed, matching each clunk of Newt’s walking boots with a squeak of his waterlogged trainers. They’d had several fights in their lives, always verbally instigated by Theseus, always decisively ended by Newt.
Despite all his trawling of forums and academic journals about autism, Theseus still seemed determined to touch Newt even then. When Newt was ready to unzip his skin and crawl out of it, like something from that exact movie they’d just finished and composed an appropriately witty joint review for. And so it wasn’t uncommon for Newt to lash out like a spooked cat under the pressure of frustrated tears.
Newt’s heart rate was beginning to rise, slowly but surely.
“Newt,” said Theseus as Newt backed into the advertisement for some kind of procedure behind them. “Um.”
That was unprecedented.
“Um,” continued Theseus, shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans. His hair was going mad from the rain. He never dressed up for the cinema. “Someone’s following me. Could you—could you walk with me, for a bit? Just to the station? I won’t say anything if you jump the turnstile, because you might as well get the train back to your accommodation afterwards.”
