web of wyrd: annual energies and relationship milestones

my best friend is newly engaged, as i said recently, which has inspired me to focus a little more focused on love and romance posts than you typically would see from me. i previously covered annual energies and some broad themes associated with them, so i thought lets look a bit more at the romantic themes seeing that it's over a year later (since that post) and i have seen WAY more webs at this point and picked up on some other trends.

something to keep in mind though - these are COMMON energy markers, any of this can happen any year. these are just the best case scenarios in my opinion.

for instance you can get married in a 22 year, but i feel like it may not last long term or it might be an elopement that upsets the couple and those around them long term...

or you could have a baby in a 12 year but need a c-section.

just some examples. by no means should you feel limited by what i say below!

energies that indicate meeting your person

3 (the empress): finding a relationship where both people feel nurtured. it's a loving connection with a great potential to become something beautiful. this is a connection where you can dream about a life and a family together.

5 (the hierophant): meeting someone who shares your values and beliefs. this often leads to a conventional, committed relationship, often marriage.

6 (the lovers): friends to lovers energy for sure - it starts with simple conversations and evolves into love. it more often than not leads to meaningful and deep connections.

energies that indicate moving in together

4 (the emperor): moving in together often requires a stable and organized environment, which aligns with the themes of the energy such as establishing a solid foundation and practical arrangements.

5 (the hierophant): moving in together can be seen as following milestones in a relationship leading towards a more traditional or serious commitment (like shared housing).

7 (the chariot): directly linked to movement and travel. represents taking control of one's life and moving forward, which can include physically moving to a new home or location.

energies that indicate becoming engaged

4 (the emperor): suggests that a relationship is entering a phase of solid commitment, usually it's the formalizing of a bond through engagement if that is the next phase of commitment in terms of your relationship.

5 (the hierophant): suggesting that a relationship is moving toward a more traditional and committed phase - if you are in a relationship, it is likely that the next step will be an engagement.

6 (the lovers): this energy is all about love, union, and making choices that align with one's heart. it can symbolize making a significant commitment, like being engaged.

11 (justice): there is a desire to make things official, usually this is an engagement leading to marriage. this is the most common marker i see in the years where people get engaged to one another.

19 (the sun): suggests a joyous occasion, like getting engaged, where both parties feel a sense of fulfillment and happiness surrounding their future together (there might be a large engagement party to celebrate).

21 (the world): signifies reaching a milestone. it can indicate that a couple is ready to complete one phase of their relationship and move into the next one, like engagement.

4 (the emperor): often this is a sign of "securing" the partnership, which can extend to the formality and structure of marriage.

6 (the lovers): the union of two individuals. it doesn’t always spell out marriage ceremony, but it often comes up in the context of a relationship oriented commitment.

11 (justice): this can indicate making things official through marriage.

13 (death): this could be a symbol of a brand new era in your relationship (aka marriage).

19 (the sun): this energy can symbolize the happiness and celebration of a wedding, suggesting that marriage will bring joy and fulfillment to the couple.

20 (judgment): like 13, this could be a symbol of a brand new era in your relationship (aka marriage).

21 (the world): indicates that a partnership has reached a stage where marriage feels like the natural and fulfilling next step. symbolized a long-term commitment.

energies that indicate having a child

2 (the high priestess): often this energy shows up when a couple has been trying to no avail to become pregnant and suddenly does. this is because this energy signifies hidden or secret aspects of life (like the early stages of pregnancy). the energy is also connected to the moon and other feminine mysteries.

3 (the empress): the most obvious energy linked to pregnancy and fertility - it symbolizes motherhood, creation, and nurturing. there is a strong possibility of pregnancy in these years

17 (the star): symbolizes hope. this is a time of fertility and holds the possibility for new beginnings. may suggest a blessing or a dream come true (becoming pregnant after a period of trying or waiting).

18 (the moon): deals with cycles (ovulation), intuition, and hidden aspects of life. like 2 energy (but more common in the outer ring) this energy signifies the mystery of pregnancy and the feminine cycles. sometimes i see this in the ring where people weren't trying and tested negative or they don't show (physically or publicly) when pregnant.

19 (the sun): can signify a healthy, happy pregnancy, and the birth of a child (come on it's a kid on a horse). suggesting a positive outcome (you test positive hCG on the stick or with blood).

20 (judgment): suggests the arrival of a new life / the transformative experience of becoming a parent. this could also be a positive sign for couples looking to adopt or foster a child (as it could be a sudden and somewhat unexpected change of events (the list is often long)).

21 (the world): symbolizes the completion of a cycle, such as successfully conceiving or carrying a pregnancy to term (if not beyond the "due date"). can represent the fulfillment that comes with creating life.

I was studying the Nornir today and came up with a cool personal interpretation I thought I would share:

Urðr (Fate) represents that which is outside of one’s control but which affects their fate regardless.

Verðandi (Happening) represents the actions one can take to change their fate, for better or worse. These are things in one’s control.

Skuld (Debt) represents the fact that every action taken in the 9 Worlds affects everyone within them. She asks us “What do we owe to each other?” She also represents the energetic debts you take on and pay off in your life (similar to the Westernized idea of Karma).

In Heathenry, upholding oaths are of the utmost importance. When you fulfill your oaths (or promises), you build your luck and strengthen the wyrd and bonds you share with all those who witness you fulfill that oath. That means the connections you make through that action will better serve you down the line. It means that certain opportunities that may have otherwise been hidden from you will become more visible and accessible to you. Oaths are not meant to be fulfilled in an entirely selfish manner, but it is certainly advantageous to do so.

Now more than ever, it is important to strengthen our bonds with others and build our luck. Connections built on trust, honor, and right action are powerful. They make some many things possible. This week is a time to really hone in on how you're upholding your end of your deals and making sure you really follow through. It could look like upholding your oath of employment and doing your job well, leaving out a regularly scheduled offering (maybe even one you forgot to leave out last week), or doing something for a friend that you promised to do (even if you get to the day of and don't feel like leaving the house). Follow through. Be there for the people you have promised to be there for, even when it's hard. When you are there for them, they are there for you.

Conversely, if others are not upholding their oaths to you, you owe them nothing. It is up to them to repair any damage they caused, and you are well within your right to demand weregild (compensation). (However, if pursuing that would create more problems than it is worth, simply walk away with the knowledge that they are not worth your precious energy.) Your wyrd is better strengthened with others and your luck best accumulated elsewhere.

In either case, stay strong and steadfast in your principles and self-respect.

Bright New Sunrise

Since I started this blog, I've been alluding to a series of readings that describe my "bright new sunrise." They came to fruition about two months ago and things are already very different. I won't go into much detail about the material changes that came with it as, despite my interpretations and wishes, they were never the focus. The real "bright new sunrise," as Djehuty told me while in a trance, is a change in perspective. I wish to share those changes with you here and now. But first, a story.

In college, I made some great friends from Croatia who broadened my musical horizons. And so I discovered Scar Symmetry and what would be my favorite album of theirs, Holographic Universe. There is a song on that album that resonated with me for most of my life and I only ever half knew why; it also happens to be the most mainstream-sounding song on the album, which I find entirely irrelevant to my point. This matters because lines of this song have exploded through my consciousness during the past year and the past month. It is called “Artificial Sun Projection” and I'll copy relevant lyrics as I write. I've always done this privately but never in any academic capacity because I worried it wouldn't be taken seriously. That's not a concern anymore.

"Illusory acts in circles count the days and nights… Finding the only way out means to arise… I shall ascend! Form the passing time, building day and night…"

For most of my life, I tried to make others happy, often at the expense of my happiness and well-being. I attracted narcissistic personalities because I had unhealed childhood trauma caused by a pathological narcissist, my abusive stepmother. It took about a decade of therapy to move away from those relationships and create the necessary changes within myself to create a happier life. While the road to hell is paved with good intentions, the road back on the hero's journey is paved with new boundaries and personal growth.

I've gone through a lot of significant changes in a very short amount of time. I experienced two intense Dark Nights of the Soul in three years. I ended relationships that did not serve me and made a few new ones who did. Things were shaken up about two months ago and I'm still looking for my footing. Change, especially profound change, brings unease.

Life really is what you make of it. Attitude is everything, whether you're in a crisis or not. Working in home health has taught me that you can do anything you want if you put your mind to it. Of all the people who will hold you back from living your best life and making your dreams a reality, you will always be the first and last. There is a sentiment in healing professions that those who enter into them do so because they have suffered and wish to use those experiences to help others. It is precisely that trauma that creates the space for genuine empathy.

"Thy will be done, shape the sand to hours. My time will come, clear as day the signs. Conceptional, shape the hands of ours. Your will's been done since the dawn of time."

When I realized that my readings had come to fruition, the wishy-washy nature of my relationships with fate and the Netjeru ended. At that moment, I experienced the birth of true devotion. The lyrics above have danced with me for almost half my life, whispering to unknowns I couldn't yet grasp. They walked with me in light, sat with me in shadow, and now dance with me in the blazing sunshine of True Will Desired. They express my role as a shamanic practitioner and my feelings toward the cosmic forces that have always been there for me. When I listen to this song, I am awash in the cosmic opera. I feel the burning heat of Ra's creation and hear the music of the spheres traced along the orbits of Ma'at. I experience myself as the experiencer, becoming the eternal continuum of the ongoing present.

We must always return from such journeys, away from the overgrown paths and back to civilization. As much as I seek the liminal spaces, what I truly need now is grounding and healing in the physical. Until then, my friends. Embrace Life, here and now!

People believe that for magic to be truly effective, it must be instantaneous and a tried and true method for every person. But my way cannot be another's way. I work with the ebb and flow of nature. Sometimes, nature is slow, prolonged. Problems and situations take time to manage, to heal, or deal with. Other times, it can be fast, but maybe not as much as people would like.

All things have limitations. Even magic, even gods. So, not everything can be instantaneous or even work for others or ourselves all the time. Just as much as some things in nature may be more effective depending on our personal biology.

When you mess with the ebb and flow, you start to break down the systems of balance. When you begin to alter and tear at the threads that bind us all. Just as there is balance to nature, there is balance in magic. When things are forced in ways, even of the ways through our sciences, unexpected things can happen. In my view, it's the way the world, the way web of wyrd works, and the will of the Norns to keep balance as they nurture the great tree. For the sake of continued existence.

So... it has been a little bit since Riot Games had the mass lay-offs and closed down Riot Forge. Let me just say that the closing of Riot Forge sucks, majorly. Of the games I played, I really liked their output. Ruined King is awesome, and while over the course of playing it I just grew to both love and hate Convergence but overall it was still a fun experience.

I know they still got Bandle Tale coming out, which will be the last Riot Forge game, I think. So I just wanted to speak quickly of an idea I think could have been cool to see if Riot Forge had not been closed.

An isometric twin-stick shooter starring Graves and Twisted Fate.

I've been doing some reading on the characters cause I think they seem genuinely interesting. A game starring them on their adventures could be so interesting. As a fan of Darksiders Genesis my first thought is get Airship Syndicate to do the game I suggest, but I do think getting a different developer would work too. I'm thinking Upstream Arcade, the people behind West of Dead and Hellboy: Web of Wyrd. Mostly because of the former than the latter.

Maybe with Riot working on projects outside of their usual multi-player wheelhouse we could hopefully get something like this, but I'm not holding my breath.

Would any of you wish for this too? Or do you have ideas for what other characters could have gotten their own game? Which character and what kind of game?
